Absolutely stunning first episode of a drama…

Absolutely stunning first episode of a drama - I'm not a massive drama fan and this has captivated me, stunned me and drawn me in. Usually, I struggle watching through dramas, even if I'm fully invested due to ADHD, but this has captured 100% of my attention and this episode went so fast! Definitely excited for this whole series.

Big Boss

I like the feeling I get from watching this drama already. The shots feel like there were shot for a film but editing and the way of plot feels like a drama. It feels like a happy medium and sets the precedents for the next episodes to come. I really enjoy the banter between Big Boss and Wolf. I could watch just hours of their banter and the side looks. Ah, the love of Bromance. One thing that I am liking is how strong each of the characterization feels in the first moments you meet you the characters, even the side characters feel well established. The strength of Mo Yeon fits well with Shin Jins. Can’t wait to watch more.

Descendants of the sun - episode 1

I don't really write reviews that often and when i do i normally wait until i finished the entire show. But wow this show is so good. I was hooked within the first 10 minutes. Not only does it have great characters but the chemistry between them is also a amazing. One of the things i have really enjoyed about this is that the female heroine is not your typical one. If i had to describe her in one word it would be badass. She does not take anyone's shit and speaks her mind. She also isn't one of those people that even when she is in the wrong she has to be right. When she messes up she stops and goes oh wait i was wrong i apologize. Now moving on to Song Jonng Ki's character. If i had to use one word to describe him it would be cheeky. His character is very cheeky, smart, cool, calm and collected. He is everything you want in a guy and more. I'm sure he has won over everyone's hearts the moment he flashes that beautiful smile of his. The show has so much character and depth to it. I feel like we haven't even scratched the surface of how much potential this show has to offer. And i can't wait to see more.

I'm hooked!

I don't usually watch on air shows but my sister begged me to watch this, so I gave in, just this once. This first episode gave the viewers a bit of what I expect to see roll out during the rest of the episodes. New and old love and its challenges, harrowing battle scenes, and reasons why some men join the army. I love all the main characters so far, and was delighted to see Song Hye Kyo from That winter the wind blows. Strong women characters, eye candy men with chocolate abs, a bit of humor, and fighting, the perfect recipie for an entertaining drama! On to episode two!
The only thing that had me taken aback was the love song so soon, and the fact that they seem to be moving a bit too fast, the main leads that is.

Five Stars

This was such a good episode. 60 minutes were over in no time.

It's refreshing how fast the story was moving along, even though I don't suppose they will keep it at this pace for the rest of the show (unless they have six thousand pages of plot written out).

The characters felt very diverse with only hints of stereotypical drama characteristics. The acting was great and believable, everything seemed very natural. (Tiny exceptions are a given if you're not a trained doctor but playing a doctor.)

The episode was serious enough to make it seem foreboding for tragedies waiting to happen, but with enough humor mixed in to keep it entertaining and captivating.

Our two main buddies seem to be lovable and sweet for a change. I can't wait to see more of them.

All in all, I'm hooked for more!

(P.S.: The last scene was really cheesy though, wasn't it.)

great start but a big NO to the music

The show has a great start... actually, a grand one. Stunning cinematography and photograph and beautiful introduction of the main characters. Loved the first 10 minutes of combat - you must love war scenarios to appreciate this, but then this is a war drama, no surprise here. There's also some humour, which I found well placed and engaging.

However, the music is annoyingly overpowering. Pieces are played too much, too loud, too often. I truly hope they are going to tune that aspect down, because music is paramount to enhance feelings. If it is played every 2 seconds it totally loses its impact. Harrowing love songs shouldn't be played when two people have just met 5 seconds before: what are they going to use when they truly fall in love, Beethoven 5th symphony? When the plot uses all its ammunition in the first episodes, it's likely to suffer later on; the same principle should apply to music.
