Story: the story is nothing new. Typical revenge/birth secret plot where everything is overturned by the end. Here things were presented in a stereotypical yet innovative way, that I often find in old kdramas. Things were told step by step and even in the end some things were left unsaid, perhaps to let the viewer imagine. The whole plot was very ambiguous. The characters had their own strong or dull way to deliver their feelings. Most of the times, especially in the latest episodes, the main leads above all were silent and didn't talk for loooooong. That, despite is a way to have dialogue, annoyed me so much. I get that silence can be meaningful, but perhaps that is not my piece of cake. I'd rather have the characters talk and conclude something than being silent for 20 minutes. Maybe I am an idiot, who knows! But I don't think so. I just believe silence was overused in here, and it can annoy so much. Wow, how many times did I say annoy in this paragraph?
Acting: This is the only high value of this review. Despite the story being blah (even tho it was handled okay), the acting was superbe. SJS is always the best when it comes to melodrama and his "omg, I have so much complexes inside of me" - face - is perfect. He made his Cha Moo Hyuk character really deep and complicated that you always wondered what was going on in his head. He made him look very unpredictable, which is cool because it gives the audience more surprises. JKH despite being only 21-22 in this drama, also did a good job. He has such a beautiful smile and he is able to show a lot of emotions through it, because you know, a smile can also be bitter and sad. All the times I have seen him, he trasmitted me joy or sadness according to what his character felt. This male pair was awesome, I regret that perhaps they didn't get enough screentime together. The female protagonists also acted well, but honestly they didn't make me become a fan of theirs. Most of the time ISJ's Eun Chae was like Moo Hyuk, she was unpredictable and it annoyed me how she behaved. I understand she loved both guys the same way, but she had to choose at some point.
Music: Okay. The instrumental songs on the piano were cool and I also like Choi Yoon's song very much.
Rewatch Value: I would rewatch this only if paid. I ended up bored and as if I lost my time watching this. I can take melodrama, makjang, thriller, but this was too much. I can't put up with the ending, I felt totally unsatisfied. It has meaning, of course, but I still find it MEH. The only drama that left me like this was What Happened in Bali, casually SJS did this in the same year of Sorry I Love You. If you have watched that one and were rolling your eyes at the ending, you may do it again with this, so don't watch!

Disappointing
"Hate" is a strong word but I truly hate this drama.Imagine watching a show just to get to that one scene that they will reveal everything in order to get that tear-jerker at the end... and you get "1 year later" screen skipping all that and topping it with one of the worst endings out there. Well bingo this show is exactly that.
I usually stay away from shows made before 2010 because I find them a bit of lacking and boring to say it simply, but this one had an interesting synopsis so... I gave it a go. Never again!
So what is so wrong with this show?
First the story, while there was an idea, the flow in which was presented was boring and uninteresting.
We have some cheesy scenes like "guy standing in front of the house"... now lets see how many times can we reuse that, once in the sun, once in the dark, once in the rain... we have no more... lets repeat it just for the sake of it. What does it have to do with the story... nothing... but guy standing there will make a good filling for the episode count.
The stupid revenge plot that targeted the wrong person for no reason. The bad acting of some of the cast (but since it's an older show is kind-a a given, the stereotypes where different then). The 4 way love/hate/revenge love cycle loop. The questionable character progression and choices. The boring... ah yep here is the guy in front of the house again... oh plot twist he is not there now, lets stand there thinking why is he not there this time.
And the ending was one of kind, it made me hate the show with burning passion and write a review about it.
I wouldn't recommend this show at all, contrarily to all the positive reviews.
But hey there is an audience for each show, maybe this was not for me... but man I still hate it.

What I liked and made me stick with this drama was the interesting plot. The story is really good and the actors have played a wonderful role. Ji Sub is simply superb apart from the fact that he was an eye candy as well. The female lead had done a great job of potraying a naive loyal girl. The second lead does a good job too in playing an innocent childish and selfish character, who want to have everything.
What I didnt like were the many many many flashbacks...they were way too many of them and it gets annoying. The other thing was all the scenes moved so sloooowwww. if someone is walking they showed it for two minutes....and there were many scenes like that, you had to ff them to get to see what was happening.
Rewatch value for me is nil because I like to rewatch sweet happy romantic heartwarming dramas. Id rather not watch tragadies again and again, once is enough for me.

Definitely made me cry
This is my first time writing a serious review so I apologize if it is not helpful.I watched this drama earlier this year. I believe I watched this around March. I was watching this show called Knowing Brothers when a this show was brought up when they made a skit. My first initial thought was that it was most likely going to be a comedy, it was not.
One day when I had just finished a different drama and was in the need to watch another drama I remembered this one. I sat down thinking that I would probably just watch one episode and get bored of it, but to my surprise I binged watched the entire thing. The beginning started off showing the characters and you got a feel of how they lived. To be honest I didn’t think I would get so attached to the show. Fast forwarding to the middle of the drama I was beginning to get a feel of how this drama was going to end. I loved the main characters their sort of relationship just felt right. I don’t know how to explain it, but they had chemistry and felt like two puzzle pieces that fit together.
When I had finally reached towards the final episodes I had came to the conclusion that my initial thought of how this drama was going to end was indeed correct. When I reached the final episode I cried my eyes out. Part of my initial thought was correct, but not quite. I hadn’t thought about how the female lead was going to handle the situation. The ending had me in shock and in tears.
I tried my best in this review to not contain spoilers, but I feel as though I didn’t do my best in explaining how I felt. Anyways, I hope this review helped you know how this drama can make you feel and if this review didn’t help at all my apologies.

A Review in 2021- This Drama still succeeds
This drama has an impressive amount of depth to it.The storyline is pretty easy to follow, but what adds a lot to the story is the characters. For me it's the Cha Moo-Hyuk that makes this drama binge worthy. From the first episode there isn't too much to know about him. He is unlikeable with the things he does, but the reasons behind what he does is heartbreaking. I haven't ever watched a drama with a male lead that has gone through so much pain and is consistent with his attitudes and actions because of them.
Cha Moo-Hyuk is such a complex character, and coming from 2004 it's impressive that this character is still so heartbreaking. The drama is a little outdated with the outfits, but looking past that I see that if this was made in 2021 with the same story the rating overall would be much higher. I know this drama ends in tragedy, I'm watching because with each episode Cha Moo-Hyuk's character is revealed to be more and more tragic.
Moving onto Song Run-Chae, she is adorable but she isn't annoying. Her character is a bit naive, but the focus is less on her and more on Moo-Hyuk. I'm sure she will get more development, but as for now as long as she isn't annoying I like her. She's super cute and Im Soo-Jung is super cute also. As an actress she does a great job, and overall the acting for this drama is on par, if not better than a lot of dramas done today.
This drama is worth the watch, watch it as fast or slow as you want and the impact will be just as lasting.

Well worth watching despite stupid ending.
Overall, the drama is nearly excellent - if not for the ending, I'd have given it a 10.There was a lot of misdirection - and not in a good way. I felt cheated afterward, like I'd been led on a merry chase, but it turned out to be a drag hunt. Foreshadowing that doesn't pan out is not satisfying viewing. There is only one great plot twist - and it's worth waiting for. I didn't see that coming.
The whole time, you're waiting for the satisfaction of the truth being revealed, but it's a hoax from beginning to end. You don't even get to find out who the father was.
However - I fell in love with the cast, and wouldn't give up the time I got to spend with them, in their story, at all. I do NOT regret watching, and might watch it again someday just for very relatable characters in the story. I wish I'd known at the beginning that the ending would be disappointing - zero ultimate satisfaction for the viewer - then I could have enjoyed for what it was - and the story was very nearly great. Definitely WATCH IT - but take it in stride. I don't think anyone will regret watching it.

beginning and end
The drama started really well and then I got a bit bored of it towards the middle. It was nice to see the players who are just starting out and how much they have improved.
The drama in my eyes continues beyond what is needed.
There were interesting sections and there were less so.
Things were understood before he even started.
Because it's an old drama, you can see how much things have improved in terms of attitude.
The ending is pretty bad that his mother didn't know the truth at the end, it felt a bit like they threw the main actress to the side at the end.
They did not say what her family was.
There is a lot of moral from the drama - enjoy life, leave revenge sometimes there are things we don't know about.
All in all, a really nice drama
