Positive things first: Heartwarming story overall, a pretty deep psychological one. the lead male did a really good job.

Negatives: Hard to get into took a good hour but then still dragged crazy. I forced myself to keep watching since it had such good reviews on here. For me it was really nothing special. I really disliked the lead actresses voice!! I guess this type of movie isnt for me. Normally i would end up crying but maybe it was the actress, or just the story was portrayed so slowly?? I couldn't feel properly for it. Not worth a rewatch.
I hated how the lead couple's progression of love was SO slow.

**Minor spoilers ahead**There were many times I got so annoyed at the lead actresses character because she should have just held onto him properly or hugged him! but instead she just shouts his name and keeps her distance.. lawll i wanted maybe i just wanted more skinship.. kekeke, Maybe I'd appreciate the story more if i read the manga.. or if they showed the thoughts going through the lead males head. the friendship is cute but overall the movie was just so so. Pretty boring to be honest but that's just my thoughts, I'd say give it ago, maybe it's just not my type of movie- bearing in mind this is probably my 2nd japanese movie(?) I really hoped it would be good so i would carry on watching more japanese dramas/movies, but it wasn't ;/

I notice for me at least, it's difficult to find a movie that truly moves me. Yet this one, it was exceptional at doing just that. The music, storyline, silence, characters, and the visuals all come together to portray extremely powerful emotions. I love the concept and at first I was a bit skeptical about the whole time travel thing since I've seen it been done before in not the most convincing ways, but this was a key feature and added to the emotion and storyline in a beautiful way. There are many important themes found in this movie having to do with mental health, friendship, suicide, and hope. Too often I feel like many people don't acknowledge mental health enough, and that is also seen in movies at times. This one does a very good job of acknowledging that. I've been trying to find some more Japanese movies that I can truly like and feel connected to. I find that the ones based off of manga such as this one are usually very well done. I applaud the author of the original manga, the actors, and directors for making such a convincing and beautiful production. Please, if you are looking for a movie that will truly move you, please watch this.

Youth movie heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time!

Great adaptation of a deep and beautiful manga which is centred around a group of high schoolers. The source material is honestly wonderful and even though the movie does not surpass it, it does an amazing job in showcasing the story which features some heavy themes. The fantasy twist in the background of the story is poetic and simple to understand. Its implications are profound.

The acting is solid and the friendship between the characters is totally believable. The romance is sweet and the chemistry between the leads is compelling as well. Overall, the ensemble cast does a great job and they are together one of the highlight of the film. Due to my attachment to this band of youngsters, I would even have loved to see a bit more of development for some of their storylines.

The directing was pretty standard for the genre: nothing really innovative but delivering what is needed for the melancholy of the narrative. The soundtrack was pretty good and provided an extra layer of feeling and sorrowfulness totally in line with the tone of the show.

I would of course recommend this to people who like the manga from which the movie is adapted, but also to everyone searching for a great friendship story with a fantasy twist and which is deeper and more meaningful than your average shojo story. However be aware that given the topics tackled on, it is sadder than you might think but very impactful.

One of the best japanese movies I've watched *Mild spoilers?*

Whenever I watch romance movies, my expectations are usually lowered, simply because the story can be somewhat bland. Orange surpasses romance genre into this time travel-esque genre where you don't really know what would happen.

Sure, some could say that you could predict it but maybe I'm just dumb and was unsure of what the hell would happen next.

I love movies that have another aspect stronger than just the romance and in this one, it was friendship and what you would do for them. I loved how even if the main character had glimpses of what would happen in the future, she would still be frustrated by her emotions and it wouldn't just be so simple as doing what the notes would say. As I was watching it, I was yelling at my screen for her to do the thing as the note said but the more I thought about it, it adds a human component to knowledge and omnipotence.
Even if we know something will happen, can we really stop it - considering our emotions? I would 1000% recommend to everyone.

doppelgangers in a parallel world...Friendship...fantasy.... love.....cinematography - I loved dis movie in all aspects!

VERDICT _ It was an amazing watch. Still can't believe its a 2015 movie!! De chosen casts completed de realness of de movie! Dey are really good actors who perfectly portrayed their respective roles.

Lessons from de story- B true 2 urself - Regrets from de past may haunt u in de present, that’s a way 2 live ur life purposely 2day.- Don’t keep everything 2urself, instead learn 2 release de pain - Value de people who sees u as a family -People come & go, those who stayed are worth 2 keep- It’s okay 2 cry & express yourself.
Lucky Naho!!! Both Sawa and Kakeru are eye-candies!

it's very good watch .. won't regret watching this

okk
i am still getting cured after seeing this movie i mean its very sad and the story of parallel universe was very cool but the fact that kakero had a lot of problems and that wasnt easily solvable and that he hated himself for everything makes me feel very sad and its like a weight in my heart but now tge saddest part was that the friends couldn't help him so they decided to time travel and give their younger self the letters the female lead and the second lead were a perfect group i love their friendship i like how suhwo was helping gis crush with his bestfriend i was very happy with the drama the only sad part is that the future was not chaning for the people who had gone through the dead and everthing and i was sad
...if you haven't watched the dra this wont make sense
but i loved the movie even though some parts were not fully explained then also i loved it and i am happy that atleast the past self had a happy future

"If it gets too heavy, you don't have to strain yourself to carry the whole thing. We're all here. So, you'll be fine."
.
THIS MOVIE IS EXTREMELY AWESOME!!!
Okay, maybe I'm a little bit exaggerate too much, but seriously this movie worth to watch more than once.
The early minutes of this movie really get on my nerves. The half-hearted action of Naho really makes me wanna get into the screen and shake her shoulder (^_^;) Why she can't just doing the things that wrote on the letter?! (>.<) (Oh well, if she do that, the movie will end in just 15 minutes LOL)

The friendship value in this movie really squeezed my heart. It's really great for them to feel those empathy and the urge of save their friends in such a young age. I mean, even though they've told to do that, but if they really don't give it a thing, they wouldn't do that and nothing changes, right?

PLOT:
I think no one would negatively react if I would say that Japan was one of those countries who are best in making fantasy films and series. Right? Because this film is one of the best example. Also add in the list the film Miracles in Namiya General Store, Anohana, and many more. Why they are good at it? Maybe because they were used to it. If we have observed most of their fantasy films were originally a story from a mangga but who cares because they were all great. Well, honestly this plot was something ordinary but what made this film special was the purpose why it was created. Obviously this film was an eye opener for everyone that committing suicide won't be and will never be the best solution to all your problems and depression. This film showed that you are not alone. Somewhere in this world somebody is loving you, someone do recognize your worth as a person so don't give up on life. Keep fighting!

CAST / ACTING:
Well, one of the main reason why I decided to watch this film was because of Kento. He never failed to impress me. His acting skills was not that great but there's something in him which will made you like his acting no matter how simple it was. The woman who played Hano, Hano was her name, right? She did well also. Her voice was so KAWAIIII! which matched her size. Other cast did great as well. The best scene for me was the track and field relay.

MUSIC:
Actually I can't remember of any music in the film hehehe sorry 'bout that. There are some instrumental music on some teary eyed scenes but I think the reason why I was not able to give enough attention to it was because of the fact that the film was already great even without it (music). The song on the credits part was great by the way.

REWATCH VALUE:
For me there's no need to watch it again and again. I did watch the movie not only by my eyes but also by my heart. Especially in those scenes where my eyes keep on secreting fluids and can't do the task of watching the film, - my heart took over the job from it (my eyes). :-)

9/10 Rating for this film. Great Movie!

DON'T / GIVE UP / ON LIFE!

when film is art & it hits deep; masterfully written and beautifully portrayed

This movie was incredibly well done. I cannot believe how impressed I am, from the acting, to the tenderness, to the fantastic slow reveal of the plotline.

It's more than your typical drama. It really gets down to something much more real than your surface-level high school romance (though that is a strong chord within the storyline). What it gets down to is touchy, raw, and much more meaningful. I am in love with the concept and creative plot.

The way this content was handled was truly inspiring and downright beautiful. It's a topic and content that can be tricky to tackle, but I honestly could not find any fault with it. While a sensitive subject matter, it's handled with the utmost care and perceptiveness, while still relaying heartfelt messages and a good story.

HIGHLY recommend. Could not recommend this more highly. This is a movie that will make you cry 100% though...so bring tissues. 10/10 on all counts, I think they nailed every aspect of a good film.

This movie - and manga - deals with heavy subjects, in particular with depression and suicide, both done and attempted, so beware!

I've been reading the manga - currently, I'm up to the end of vol. 4 - so I was curious how the movie compared to that. And I must say that Yamazaki Kento was amazing as Kakeru!

What I loved most about the story was the theme of friendship above everything. It didn't really matter who ended up with whom - if Naho ended up with Kakeru or Suwa or with neither of them - what really mattered was the friendship among all the six characters. Because it was not romance what kept Kakeru alive in the end, it was friendship.

To me, it was really interesting how the five friends, warned by their future selves of what would happen to Kakeru, decided to save him. Because it's quite easy to stop someone from getting hit with a brick or enter a plane that's about to crash. But how do you save someone from himself? How do you convince someone not to kill himself?

I loved the way they went about it, showing Kakeru again and again that they were there for him, that they loved him, that whatever burden weighed down on him, they would help him carry it. It truly warmed my heart, all of their love for Kakeru - and his love for them which swayed his decision in the end. It was so beautiful...

Overall, a really good, heart-warming movie. Highly recommended!

Not particularly fan of melo movie or drama usually, but I have to agree with everyone that this movie is just beautiful. The storyline is one of the best I've rated so far, its slowly paced but smoothly and absolutely beautifully. It gives a meaningful lifestory that everyone can relate to which I particularly loved.

I have to warn that I don't think everyone will like this movie though. It was very slowly paced, some part of the story is really dumb, eg why cant someone just stay with him all the time? Why Nao keep on running and running away? Inconsistencies lead to much questions but when you look at the overall storyline and if you could bear the time and tears, this will definitely amazing movie to watch.
