Game and romance

For video game players this is the right series. But there's more. I really liked the romantic side of this story. This couple formed in the game and later also in reality.
I loved his protectiveness and attention towards her. His business acumen despite his young age, they always impeccable in dressing and trusting each other... Very nice.
I smiled every time his friends referred to her as "sister-in-law."
I liked her best friend less, too messy and talkative. I couldn't have tolerated it.
Yang Yang is a really nice guy who I've already seen in the "Fireworks of my Heart" series. Perhaps in this series, compared to the other, he had a little too much of a model demeanor which made him a little less natural.

I watched this drama for the first time 2 years ago and it was my first Chinese drama ever. In that time I thought that it was amazing but now, even though I still rewatch it sometimes, I can see some flaws. I am going to talk about each flaw that I can remember but I will also say some good things about this drama of course.
I really liked the story until she started to work with Xiao Nai because in the beginning she was described as a smart girl, and I think that that side of Wei Wei started to disappear by the middle of the show. Also, I honestly thought Wei Wei's best friend was super annoying and childish tbh. The main lead was always helping her when she could and Er Xi was not thankful, and when she had that discussion with Wei Wei....god I was really angry at Er Xi.
The acting was not great, especially the kisses because Yang Yang was trying while Zheng Shuang just stood there like it was her first time kissing someone. I really wished that was better. To conclude with the 'bad' things about this drama is the fact that I think the music was not something I liked tbh,.I did not like (sorry) Yang Yang's voice in that song but I can live with that.
Now some things I liked...THEIR RELATIONSHIP. Yes, I loved the trust they have on each other. Xiao Nai did not fall in love with her because of her looks. He fell in love due to her abilities. I also loved the friendship Xiao Nai had with his friends. They were really supportive and funny...unlike Er Xi's friendship with Wei Wei. Something I think it was interesting about this drama is the fact that the "bad girl" was not really mean, she was influenced by her so-called "friend" and I personally think that was kind of a change. Another thing I liked is the fact that this story is very light unlike other stories that in each episode you are like wth all the time.
So yes I give a pushed 7 overall in this drama because, even though it has a lot of downs, it was still important to me as it was the first c-drama I watched.

I love this drama!!!

Story/Plot:
In my opinion Love 020 is a typical Campus Love Story. I don´t really like Youth dramas but this one got me.
They had done the fantasy part of this drama, which was the interaction between the characters in the online game, very good. I even tried some games after this drama, tho I was never interested in those things.
The story itselfs is not very complicated and you can easily understand what´s going on.

Acting/Cast:
At the beginning when I watched it, I was really worried that Zheng Shuang could break some bones during the fight with the monsters in the online game. She was so slim!!!
For me she was not the best suitable cast for Bei Wei Wei´s character. But she and Yang Yang were both as a couple an eye candy. I love the interaction between those two.
I never read the novel so I don´t know how the original author discribed her but I think she is more the kind of girls who are beautiful and directly. Tho Zheng Shuang played her role very good and was absolutely gorgeous, she doesn´t give me a feeling that I have a girl like this in front of me. She would suit a character who is quiet and clever more. (Just my opinion)
As for Yang Yang, he was an Outshining Star! He played his role also very good and yeah he was so Handsome XD
The support roles are too very good. And after you watched some episodes you´ll love every character no matter if they are bad or good!

Music:
Not my type of music but ok

Rewatch Value:
I highly recommend to rewatched it cuz yeah just for the cute scene you´ll want to watch it twice

I think the value of this series lies in the perfection embodied in the main characters. Xiao Nai is portrayed as a perfect, all-rounded boyfriend with almost no flaws. He builds his own empire and does not start off as a rich, entitled heir as typical of other dramas of the same genre.

The female lead is also perfect, which the right combination of looks, wits and intelligence, and the ability to maintain her relationship with her close friends and family.

Their relationship - is obviously perfect. No jealousy, no cheating and no uncertainty. It's a refreshing watch.

*Just a note that I purely only gave this drama a go because of the actor Yang Yang, I'd highly recommend that you check his other acting roles out!

Story/Plot: At first glance, this drama seemed amazing - opening with a fantasy fight scene set in a traditional Chinese RPG game. This theme ran throughout the drama, but it eventually levelled off later on and focused on the relationship between the two leads. The involvement of the game in the drama was a nice touch since it added a stronger plot, which Love o2o definitely lacks in many aspects because nothing major ever happens throughout each episode other than minor quarrels between characters.

Acting/Cast: Moving onto characters... uhh Zheng Shuang was definitely a let down. Although I hate to say it, her acting was terrible and she doesn't know how to kiss (Yang Yang carried every single kiss scene while ZS just kind of stood there and let it happen), plus she's way too skinny and it bothered me the whole time that I was watching, adding on I don't think that the two actors have much chemistry together; maybe they should've casted someone better for the role of Bei Wei Wei? However, mayhaps I have to say that the show was worth watching just to drool over Yang Yang the whole time ;)

Music: The OSTs used in the show were so fitting for every scene and you'll be giddy to know that two of them were even sung by the actors themselves hehe.. “有点甜” is a must listen!

Rewatch Value: Personally I'm not much of a rewatch kind of guy and it's up to the preference of the viewer I suppose. However, I wouldn't bother rewatching this drama seeing as there are plentiful other dramas with similar plots like 'Put Your Head On My Shoulder' or 'A Love So Beautiful'.

Overall: Honestly it wasn't that bad. Everything about the drama was quite generic and typical other than the incorporation of the online game. However, I'd definitely recommend other cdramas over this one.

Love O2O A look at Gaming World and Techie Personalities

I just finished watching the Series and the Movie on Netflix. The cinematography in the movie was much better than the series episodes which were inconsistent in quality. The movie accurately told the story but without the depth and detail about the character's lives. The long series satisfied me more because I am a person who likes to understand not just what happens in a story, but what makes the characters tick. If I had control of the movie and the series content, I would have changed the ending in the movie to Episode 30 of the series. I watched the thirtieth episode three times and I have NEVER done that after first watching a any series. Episode 30 depicted the male lead's sense of humor and confidence romantically after having navigated a 2+ year relationship with his first love. The female lead also seemed new to love saying, "no" to potential suitors to focus on school. Her character was written with a timid personality. A lot of her dialogue was "in her head" and showed me her insecurities. I loved how the couple were consistently candid throughout in their relationship inspite of insecurities.

The male lead was perfect as a high IQ techie who is in his head until he notices a girl for the first time in his life . I read one reviewer refer to him as arrogant and that was true in most of the series but his girlfriend didn't seem to mind. I say the writer did their job well because the actor's behavior was consistent with his genius personality. The writers wrote the fellow developers (employees) to hero-worship the lead a bit too much but the writers revealed why his employees/buddies were so loyal to him. The actor underplayed his feelings but was skilled in subtly showing his growing attraction to his girl with very small changes to his smile and eyes that showed he was enamored with her.

The female lead turned me both on and off by her personality throughout She made me feel hot and cold about her romance. The male lead's passionate kisses didn't look mutual. There was nothing in all of her study sessions that seemed challenging that she voiced. Off and on I wished another actress had been chosen for the part. The writers should have shown her to be more tech savy in her studies... she was majoring in computer science after all. She used her skills only briefly as an intern. The writers showed her dad's desire for her to do something with her education when he feared she would get married right out college.

In the real world, how influential is an unskilled newly-hired intern in directing a permanent employee to cut or hire other intern applicants at a company? That whole part seemed unrealistic unrealistically contrived to fit the purpose of the scene. The writer could have done better.

The story line about social media and jealous female students seemed to be written by a separate group of writers who maybe were male and did not have an understanding of the age group of college juniors and seniors, giving the supporting female characters little maturity. The writers seemed to rely on high school mentality perceptions rather than more sophisticated personalities in writing for the women obsessed with who is more beautiful; like beauty is all that matters in life... Maybe it was intended show that their behavior was based on what they thought the guys on campus were interested in. The maturity of the two leads overshadowed that of all of the supporting characters.

I would liked to have seen the writers include K.O. in some budding romance at the instigation of the female lead. K.O. was a lot like the male lead in his personality.

I loved the scenes with the parents, and the scenes at the game company during the days while trying to reach their development deadline . Having been married to an Electronics Engineer for many years I though the atmosphere and the synergy was spot on. I remember so many times getting some time away with my husband during a deadline push that resulted in lowering his stress, and having creativity and problem-solving pop into his head out of the blue.

I think this is one of the first C-dramas, I watched about gaming and that there isn't many love rivalries or like really bad misunderstandings that the couple break up.

I think the one reason, why I enjoyed it is because the couple Xiao Nai played by Yang Yang & Wei Wei played by Zheng Shuang, just never had many misunderstandings that they would tell each other everything! I think I don't like it that much when there is really bad misunderstandings and they don't talk to each other because of it. But I think I enjoyed this because there wasn't that much drama, and that they really looked like their characters in the in-game as well. -

I also really liked the actor Yang Yang! So I just thought he was such a handsome guy, and played such a nice like rich, sweet guy you would want in your own relationship type, if you get me! LOL It's definitely something simple and lighthearted to watch and that's why I enjoyed it, not to much annoying crying and things!

It was amazing. It had not too much Drama, so you were able to enjoy it even after an already draining day and the two main character somehow perfectly matched with eachother.
I also liked, that the drama was not focussed on fighting between the main characters, but instead on everything around them.
I was a bit sad that they seemed to rush the last episode a bit, but it still was rather enjoyable.
I'd totally recommend this Drama as a first, because the topics are not that heavy and while the main female character sometimes backs away from hard stuff, it doesn't make her weak, just like it is in reallife. I also enjoyed that they both had strong and weak spots and that they were shown.
For enjoying this drama, you should be open to a bit of fantasy, because some scenes are about the online game which is mostly based on fantasy.

[SMALL SPOILERS FROM HERE ON]
She loves to game, but is not suddenly a pro in programming so she's able to help him make his game and he is very clever, but has a soft spot for his friends and he's not very good with normal chores.
Their friends somehow all have their own characteristics and you can fall in love with them just as much as with the lead figures. Sometimes I couldn't wait for Nai's friends to be in the scene too, because they gave the whole story a much more fun twist.

Bei Wei Wei is taking her first steps into adult life - luckily she's found the perfect partner in Xiao Nai.

I liked this even though there are no obstacles. Xiao Nai always does the right thing: he's respectful, caring and protective. Bei Wei Wei simply is in awe of her good fortune.

The cast saves the show. The actor playing Xiao Nai really embodies a cold exterior that has a warmer playful side, and Bei Wei Wei is the right mix of silly and endearing. Their roles are fairly traditional gender roles, but there is a lot of appreciation of what they both bring to the table.

The music is mediocre. I wouldn't rewatch the whole thing, but may watch it for a moment or two now and then.

I grade by other criteria as well:

Complex Themes - 6
(Models what a healthy relationship looks like. I also liked the question of whether to separate virtual and real worlds - since you can harm someone in both, shouldn't you have integrity in both?)
Character Growth -3
(The two characters are static and do not 'grow' very much over the course of the show)
Nuanced Women -6
(Points for female friendships and featuring girls in tech, but overall they are stereotypes you've seen before).
Cinematography/Production Values - 6
(This is very low budget, which is fine for the real life scenes, but was a bit harder in the video game/CGI bits. Not only was the CGI poorly done, but the wigs, costumes etc. were also of poor quality)

BAD dubbing (and worse kissing) but okay if you want angst-free fluff

In the first few eps of this the FL's lines, although delivered from what looked like an ordinary college dorm, have a weird echo and sound like they are really coming from a deep, cavernous hole somewhere. That was very off-putting! -although it seemed to gradually improve. Anyway, this is a harmless little college romance with a gaming element, where the FL and ML, both top players, meet in a game. The in-game effects are... not something anyone would be watching it for, but that doesn't matter because it's all about the romance, and that is pretty solid in that they like each other, and only each other, all the way through. There are no love triangles, break-ups or heroically sacrificial partings, all difficulties are comfortably overcome, and nothing terrible happens to either of them - well, ML is in a car accident at one point, but he's fine and it speeds the plot along instead of blocking it. They're respectful to each other, and they never really argue. A bit of bromance, a bit of sismance, a tiny hint of a gay romance (pretty cute) and a little bit of rivalry keep it rolling along smoothly for 30 episodes to their marriage. It's not exciting, but it is kind of restful, if you're in the mood for that.

However, the core relationship was marred a lot for me by the FL freezing and looking absolutely petrified whenever a kiss scene happened, and as she clearly likes him and he obviously can kiss, this seemed very jarring and cringey and lost it points. More points dropped off for her role in the game company they form after school: basically just a pretty little assistant. I would have liked it a lot more if she'd beefed up a bit, but YMMV.

Great lighthearted story with good romance and real friendship. Great comedy moments as well!

The story and premise was refreshing and something you have not seen before. The leads were married in the game and the transition to real life was seamless. Fast pacing and you do not have to wait until the end of the series for them to get together. They have a great chemistry and have beautiful, adorable scenes together. They actually get together early on and it is nice to see it is not messy and they are genuinely just gushing over each other. There were thankfully not a lot of melodrama and it's just a nice lighthearted story. Not really any triangles as the leads are only interested in each other although they do have people that have crushes on them. No BS break-ups either. They even joke about normal dramas and how the leads never get together easy and always break-up LOL. The friendship was also amazing and the interactions between the brothers were hilarious. There were so many good moments. The FL will not let anyone criticize or hurt her friends/BF and she has such good moments defending them. The leads are so trusting of each other and make sure to not do anything that would hurt the other's feelings. In K-dramas you have the FL flirting with another guy even with a relationship, while here the FL is very respectful to her BF and vice-versa. In the end the antagonist tries to send a meaningful goodbye message to FL and the ML reads it with her and the ML is the one to respond back. It is a small gesture but it shows that the FL does not even want to message another dude back lol. Not like it matters but it was refreshing to see.

The one thing i did not like was the side character with glasses. He is someone with literally no relation to the FL until he tried to frame her for being a slut for going into a luxury car. He has the nerve to act like the FL belongs to him. She literally showed him no affection and even told him to get lost, but he has the nerve to basically call her a slut again when the FL and ML get in a relationship. He is the one that stalked the FL and mistook her in-game character for someone else and made up a weird fantasy in his head. Complete weirdo and I did not think it was right for him to have as much screen time as he did; nor any sort of redemption. I loved how the FL met with him on episode 20 and shut his ass down after she found out though. She straight up told him he is a weirdo and bad guy and does not want anything to do with him and she said "I dont want to repeatedly waste my time clearing your world view" because he is literally nothing to her and she is just a nice person. She also straight up told him he makes weird assumptions and she does not even want to spend another minute thinking about him because he has a completely distorted, perverted mindset. He based all his misunderstanding by stalking her getting her account username and even when faced with the truth he has the nerve to say "impossible".

I guess some people did not like the kissing scenes but i don't really care about that as much as i care about the actual characters themselves. It was so adorable seeing the FL's inner monologue as she gushes over the ML and the ML acting like a complete gentlemen.

First of all, I'm not a fan of online games, yet I totally fell in love with this one.I usually prefer to watch short dramas so I took a long time, debating whether to watch this or not. I'm glad I did.
PLOT:
A light hearted drama, with no major twists or lag. Online gaming plays an important part in the story line and make this more interesting to watch.
CAST;
After watching this I'm now a huge fan of Yang Yang.Even though Zeng Shuang literally doesn't match with her character description, you will surely fall in love with the lead pair.
MUSIC:
The opening song is catchy and loved the OST sung by Yang Yang.
REWATCH:
Definitely .
OVERALL;
Loved it . Made it to my top ten dramas :)
