She has always been pretty!
The tropes portrayed in She Was Pretty made the drama globally relatable and popular as it resembled common themes shown in Latin American and American TV dramas. Secretary themed office romances are a prominent topic in shows around the world, so She Was Pretty is able to cater to a worldwide audience. While the plot was a predictable Cinderella story, it was still enjoyable to watch and I would recommend it to friends. A review by writer Stephanie Tien “She Was Pretty starts out promising with a playful plot, comedic elements, and appealing characters. The flashbacks to the childhood memories between Hye Jin and Sung Joon are sweet and endearing.” The casting also made the drama, singer from SuperJunior Siwon makes his appearance in a number of episodes to give comedic relief and adds to character of the “nice guy”Was this review helpful to you?
This show will not raise your pulse, it is very predictable, and sooooo sweet you will have to schedule an appointment with your dentist (tooth decay and all).
I really liked the drama and the dynamics between the two lead ladies, their friendship never wavered which showed how strong their bond.
This drama had a real gem! A gem so shiny it made me smile every-time he was on screen: Kim Shin Hyeok
He completely stole the show and outclassed all members of the cast. I would love a drama just based on that goofy character! Upright, wears his heart on his sleeve, very perceptive of what goes on around him, probably the smartest man in the room most times… I was really rooting for him and I regret we did not develop his arc more.
Thanks for the sweet time show! I really enjoyed myself.

- The storyline was interesting, storytelling the strong female lead who hit rock bottom and face her crush. Romance part was done horribly wrong, there was almost no strong emotion from the ML at all. The wrong decision from the FL and all the cause she's done had no impact on herself at all. Pretty much shitty characteristic from the Main Lead.
Acting/Cast
- The FL in my opinion could had been casted to a better actress as she lacks the visual with the mismatch of her younger version. While the mainlead was also inconsistent character with his younger self.
Music
- The BG music was good but the OST was mehh, nothing take your breath away.
Rewatch value
- Well to watch it again with this simple plot i wouldn't recommend it at all
Overall
- It was fun but the drama is not strong enough to give you the urge of remembering it again.

This was my first ever K-drama and the reason I wanted to explore more of them and this could also be one of the great K-dramas you could start out with. The only reason I originally started watching this drama was for the plot. I stumbled upon it on Netflix while looking for a new show to watch when find this wonderful drama with a plot that just drew me in and heightened my curiosity. As you can see from the plot it tells you about two childhood lovers meeting again after many years with one of them concealing their true identity but it is so much more than that! This drama really opens up your eyes to the fact that looks aren't everything when looking for love rather it should be based on traits and personality. One of the points that i will warn you of is that while watching this you are going to develop sever second male lead syndrome but apart from that this drama is really worth watching! : )

I didn't finish this drama and it's a pity. I am a fan of the Orion-Origin chemistry (the leads) in Kill Me Heal Me and was expecting a lot from this drama.Starting story is interesting and there is so much potential for the drama. However, the drama becomes really draggy at the middle/back portion and the only interesting thing left is the secret identities (no spoiler). I do appreciate the character developments but they somehow become stagnant and unimportant (again) at the back of the drama. Anyway, I was utterly disappointed by the leads and how the romance turned out to be that I just cannot continue.
The chemistry is great and all good between the actors/actresses. I especially loved how the (rare) womance is displayed by the actresses. and honorable mention to Siwon for his great acting:)
All in all, quite disappointed. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed the front part of the drama. Will continue to finish the drama when I have the time or urge to do it..

I came here to see Park seo joon, but i fell hard for Choi Si wan.
Guys i couldn't even stand the drama, i thought if dropping, but i wanna see the end, so i skipped and 2x the series and ended it.Just headaches. I wanna clean my brain out.
Poor plot
I hated the female lead
I don't know why Park seo joon is in this kinda role twice... Like this nauseating role.
In another series named Hwarang ( i saw that for Bts V tbh), Seo joon kissed his own friend's sister, whome he considered sister too.
Again i felt the same nauseating and un settlimg feeling, when i see him in this role.

Conventional with a Twist
I loved this drama because of the messages: you are the main character of your life/story even if the world doesn’t view you that way and love always finds a way. This is essentially a story of how childhood sweethearts reconnect after nearly two decades. The ML, played by Park Seo Joon, pines for and eventually finds his first love who loved him when he was overweight with curly hair and devoid of earthly family. His first love, played by Hwang Jung Eum, was conventionally beautiful and confident as an early teen but life and student loans happened and she’s now not-so-beautiful with a rough case of rosacea and dry, frizzy hair which lowers her self -confidence.
The ML finds her via email and of course wants to meet. Our FL, seeing her childhood love is now gorgeous and put-together in contrast to her messy life, foists her rich, conventionally beautiful best friend on our ML to pretend to be her.
But love finds a way as our ML and FL meet at work and the ML falls in love with the FL despite himself.
If you love good rom-cons, ugly duckling/swan stories and of course Park Seo Joon. The leads and secondaries do their job well and this has excellent rewatch value.
Also, it has an unabashed happy ending.

Everyone's comments about SLS are NO JOKE. This really is a disastrous love square but it of course all works out and isn't frustrating for too long. And you will really fall in love with Siwon.
Last thing - a lot of people said that they dragged the plot on way too long, and I could totally see that. However, I wasn't really here for the plot anyways, I wanted a rom com and I got a rom com. The drag was fine to me bc it just gave me more time with the characters developing and building relationships. At the end I was really happy with how they wrapped up everything for everyone. Also, all the side characters were fun and only added to the overall enjoyment!
Here's my breakdown:
Pros:
- Park Seojoon
- cute ass couple
- good looking cast
- Siwon!!
- positive messages about pursuing your dreams and believing in yourself
- strong female friendship!!!
Cons:
- freaking out from the female lead
- love square
- really negative interactions in the first 6 or so episodes
Again, I wanted a rom com and I got a rom com. So if you're also looking for a rom com, I'd say don't let the cons stop you from She Was Pretty, and stick it out 6 episodes to receive full benefits.

I went into this not expecting much but a light and fluffy romcom, and given how adorable I find Park Seo Joon, I eventually forced myself to watch it. I was not disappointed! It has some absolutely hilarious moments, some tear-jerking and some completely heartbreaking. Not much of a rewatch value, but it was nice to just relax and binge this drama, there were many loveable characters and archs :) SPOILERS AHEAD!
I did not think it was possible, but in the end I was not rooting for Ji Seon Jun, no matter how much I love the actor. Also, Kim Shin Hyeok deserved better. Much, much better. He's the purest sweetest baby boy to ever exist. The twist about him was a bit predictable, but still badass. He was my favourite and it was disappointing not seeing more of him in the end! Also, how many scenes of him getting his heart broken were there? My god, have mercy on my heart with his adorable smile. I would die for you, Idiot Reporter!

I'm not usually into Romcoms because of all the Clichéd/repetitive scenes we see everywhere , but one of this drama's strong points is that it didn't do that ( a lot ). If anything the romance was cute and warm and all the characters were lovable.
The only thing I didn't like was how 80% of the events were a coincidence. There are way too many coincidental events which made the drama drift away from reality and a bit annoying for me to be honest.

Loved it, comedies are the best!!!
I'm a little late to the K-drama scene. I liked this show a lot. First, before I forget, Park Seo Joon, who plays the male lead, looks uncanny like my late Japanese friend, Matsumoto-san. Not at every angle and all facial expressions, but especially when he smiles. First Japanese person I became friends with, an unbelievably kind guy whom I miss a lot. I first saw Park in "Itaewon Class". Seeing him made me happy and very sad at the same time. I think we all knew the female lead, played by Hwang Jung Eum, even with the weird hair was going to turn out to be attractive. Besides the physical part, her character being bubbly and sweet, is something that is a very attractive quality!Star of the show has to go to Choi Si Won's character, Kim Shin Hyuk. Hilarious and creative role that Choi was perfect for, makes me want to go find some other things he's been in. I hope there are some Korean guys in real life who are like that character, maybe not as crazy though with the pranks though, lol. I like to joke around too, because I enjoy making people laugh and forget their problems. Shin Dong Mi, who plays Cha Joo Young, is also an attractive lady and stood out, maybe because she was the only lady who had her natural hair color. I know this drama is dated, but I hope Koreans, like Japanese and all Asians, STOP dying their hair color, natural always looks best! I realize people in Asians countries tire of black hair, as almost all people tend to have it, unless they are seniors, but if everyone dyes their hair brown then people with natural locks stick out amongst the crowd, hah hah!
