High school and all that.....

This is a very clichéd, predictable, teenage high school drama.
I watched it only for Vivian Sung - she is such a top notch actor.

There were also some really funny scenes making me laugh out loud.
They were unpredictable and very well placed. Superb comic timing.

Please MDL - take off the 500 word limit on reviews.
There are times I only wish to say a few words and most times, I don't read other reviews that are too long.

Be kind to your reviewers and take off the 500 word minimum.

Story
I watched this movie without reading the plot i was waiting especially for the modern time part. But i really liked the highschool part. I didn't like that the end was a bit of a rush and i really hoped that the highschool actors would be the seem as the modern part but they changed the actors. I wished the couple kissed each other ;(

Cast
Vivian and darren had great chemistry i really fell in love with darren in this movie he played a great badboy type. And i love andy lau he is so handsome

Music
There was perfect music for the scenes

I would rewatch this again this movie really made me cry

this is a must watch! I rarely review movies or drama, but I couldn't go to sleep without recommending you this super cute rom-com. If you read the summary, you probably know that of course it's clichè, but I can assure you that that the story is not going to bore you in any way. the characters are well-played (most of all Tai Yu, Darren Wang did an amazing job with this one). The music just falls into place and made every romantic moment even more romantic. The romance was just so pure and innocent and the way Tai Yu looks atLin Truly will melt your heart. if I had to say one thing that I didn't like (mine will probably be an unpopular opinion), it would be the very last scene, because yes, it was really heartwarming, but I didn't like the acting of the "adult" Tai Yu. Overall, I think that this movie has an high rewatch value and I'm just waiting for time to pass soon so that i can rewatch it soon.

A great movie to enjoy with family :)

There's just something about the opening scene of Lin Truly (Main character) working in an office, appearing flawless and beautiful, or thats what she is trying to appear like. And then her having relationship problems like anyone of us might have experienced as an adult and- to her bedroom, listening to a song of her favourite idol. AND THEN TRANSITIONS TO her waking up when she was younger, looking totally different of how she is now as a grown up.

There is just something about youth that this movie managed to bring out to the audience (aka me) Lin truly is not the best student, she is just a normal teenager. She is introduced as a character that many of us can relate to! She has a neighbour that her parents always compare her to (such as looks/grades/popularity) Her parents dotes on her brother alot more and she hates her brother. I think this movie really focused on building Lin Truly as a person we can relate to! (she is pretty funny too)

My parents likes this movie alot and i watched this movie with them for so many times that i might be able to recite their dialogues. Don't get me wrong tho, i still like this movie! My parents thinks this movie has a special place in their heart because this movie takes place in a timeline when my mom too is a teenager. My mom told me stories about she too, just like Lin Truly, rides bike to school, skip classes, forgetting exams, falling in love, running to canteens, running out of money, avoiding gangsters in her school and she also was an Andy Lau fan.

Not only this movie brings out the times when our parents has experienced, it also gives this whole movie a beautiful & dreamy theme that we couples/singles/whoever we are now can never experience again. OK WE Settled the part about the movie concept/theme/background.

We can now dive deeper into the storyline. And man, i think this is like the most dramatic yet realistic yet emotional yet wholesome drama..? This movie really makes you vomit so much emotions but i assure you that many of them are positive :) The most wholesome highlights in this movie probably about how the main female lead interact with the main male lead. The main male lead appeared to be very violet or rebellious. ANd definitely scared the hell out of Lin Truly at the beginning of the movie. BUT he is so precious and cute to her as time goes by. I like it when he laughs. OUT OF TOPIC WHOOPS

The lesson you can look forward in this movie is... get a boyfriend like the male lead.

I REALLY DONT WANNA SPOIL MUCH BECAUSE IT WOULD RUI N THE SURPRISE SO BAI

Perfect vibes, until the final scene

Our Times is more than just a love story—it's like a cinematic hug that throws you back to the wild and wonderful '90s.

Let's talk about Truly, our not-so-average gal who's head over heels for none other than the one and only Andy Lau. I mean, who hasn't had a crush on a celebrity, right? But wait, there's a twist! Enter Taiyu, the school's bad boy with a heart of gold. And how do they meet? Oh, just your typical chain letter but that turns Truly into Taiyu's personal assistant.

Now, at first, you might think, "Oh, it's just another teen drama." But hold on to your oversized scrunchies, because this movie is about to take you on a feels trip like no other!! The actors bring the characters to life with such charm that you can't help but cheer for them.

What sets this rom-com apart is its ability to sneak up on your emotions. It starts with laughter, throws in a dash of nostalgia with its '90s vibes, and before you know it, you're reaching for the tissues because those tears are coming. I mean, who wouldn't be moved when Taiyu gifts Truly a life-size Andy Lau standee for her birthday? That's not just a present; that's #relationshipgoals right there!

And let's not forget the life lessons. It's not just about romance; it's about friendship, self-discovery, and the awkwardness of growing up. The film takes us back to a time when social media wasn't a thing, and people found joy in simple pleasures like hanging out at comic stores and attending concerts. It's a reminder that life was pretty darn awesome without constant notifications.

In a nutshell, "Our Times" is like a warm hug from your past, sprinkled with laughter, love, and life lessons. It's a rom-com that not only tickles your funny bone but also tugs at your heartstrings. So, whether you're a fan of '90s nostalgia, hilarious romances, or just want a good emotional ride, this movie is a must-watch. Trust me; you'll leave with a smile and maybe a tiny tear in the corner of your eye. Enjoy the show! ??✨

Such a great movie!

This is one of the best romantic movies I have ever seen! It was so easy to watch! I loved it! I loved the main idea of the story, that a woman being dissapointed from her life, goes back to her past memories and remembers the way she thought her present and future as a student. As a result she gets reminded all her dreams and values back then, so she decides to change her life and be loyal to her past self.
I liked how the two main characters got to know each other through a silly thing and they started their friendship. I loved watching their relationship change from hate to friendship to love. It was very interesting for me to get to know the male lead and the reason behind his behavior. I liked how they fell in love with each other little by little and pushed each other to become a better version of themselves. Their feelings were so pure and delicate! But they never expressed their real feelings for each other while they were watching each other everyday. That's a sad thing and a very regretful one, but it was very realistic, because love came after friendship and they hesitated mainly because they thought that they knew who the other person had feelings for. Watching them hiding their true feelings for each other's sake was very disheartening. After the confession of one person to the other I was so sad because it felt like the big chance to make this love relationship happen was lost. Years later and after the big life decluttering in female leads life, life gives the main leads a second chance, or a first chance if you give it more thought, to make things right! The movie ends giving you hope for what comes next !!!

A real case of the feels

A notable addition to the "nostalgic high school drama" genre. This movie gave me all the feels with plenty of adorable and swoon-worthy moments between the leading cast members.

That being said, Our Times is not the most well-crafted movie. There are a ton of subplots/loose threads that don't get resolved and are forgotten pretty quickly. In particular, the part about Taiyu's health seems like it was only added for emotionally manipulative purposes; we get this dramatic flashback of all his dramatic head injuries but never see any real consequences of them. I mean, I'm personally glad he ended up okay, but it felt half-baked to introduce this dramatic twist and then never follow through with it. The movie also seemed to jump around a lot, without a lot of transitioning/explanation.

I also wish we'd gotten to know some of the supportive characters a bit more . We barely get to know Zhenxin's friends, Tao Minmin, or even Ouyang Feifang that well. Taiyu and Zhenxin's own character development arcs are better fleshed out, but I just wish some of the other characters were more fully formed.

In sum, this movie is a roller coaster of emotions. It's definitely an enjoyable, if somewhat confusing time, and the soundtrack is great. I would recommend watching with friends, and preparing to let the tears and laughter flow.

Nostalgia

A youth story that makes me feel nostalgic of my own school days. It makes me regret I didn't spend my teenage days playing outside. Now I sound really old though haha. I really love the lighthearted storyline about crushes and wanting to dress up. It is not a unique theme but the way this story is portrayed makes me want to rewatch it all the time. I could feel the nervousness and anticipation of looking at a person you like. The actress is very good at playing that kind of emotion.

Although it's been a while since the movie came out. I would 100% recommend this for a movie night.

it has a kind of unbeatable innocence

As many viewers pointed already, this teen movie is quite tropey... Well, maybe we should use some other word instead, like - conformist, standard, predictable or whatever. But this is not at all bothersome, it is just what we expect to see from a teenage romantic movie, so it meets our expectations somehow.
The saving grace of this movie is the fresh approach - genuine young actors, ordinary life events, relatable series of events... All in all, a nice journey towards growing up.
It's hard to point the magical charm of this movie.
One thing i personally dont like in dramas is going down the memory lane... I mean, the past is there, just find another way to relate to it - if necessary - than opening this bracket.
Not sure abt rewatching, but glad to have spent a relaxing afternoon over it.

The Young Leads are Awesome!

This is a really good movie. It was fun, light and quite charming. I immensely enjoyed, mainly due to the leads, Vivian Sung as Lin Truly and Darren Wang as Tai Yu. Very beliveable in their roles and excellent chemistry. What I also really liked was that it didn't become some love/hate nonsense. They really becomes friends who enjoy each others company. The supporting cast is really good to and it was a nice surprise to see Jerry Yan at the end as the adult Taiyu (I didn't look ast the cast before I watched).

Of course what I didn't like was the new Director of the school. I am never a fan of an educator saying people don't have a right to learn or judging students based on negative perceptions. So glad that wans't the focus.

Did I watch the same movie as everyone else?

I'm seeing reviews about people crying at the second half of this movie and I'm just a little lost for words because the movie I watched was just so...mediocre? It was certainly a nostalgic and light-hearted rom-com, but overall the plot points and the characters are just really cookie-cutter and cliche. The two second leads are also considered main roles but were not really given adequate personality or character development.

I also could not handle how many times the main female lead had to trip over her own feet — I understand the clumsy aspect of her personality, but there are different ways to do it. Seeing the exact same thing happen so many times grew old very fast.

With that being said, there are more quiet, thoughtful moments in this movie that really stood out to me, and I wish the movie let those moments shine through more.

Everybody might have come across the chain messages or posts on facebook. I have come across a lot of them and I basically ignore them. But the one who forwarded that might have believed it. Its backdrop is the chain letter which a girl forwards to the school notorious kid.

While watching the movie I felt like going back in time of no smartphone with autograph books, friendship bands, and chalkboard era. But this movie also reminds of thai movie a little thing called love, where the girl falls for a popular guy of school and eventually gets noticed by the him by putting so much hardwork.

Darren wang was looking like a bully. His eyes did everything. His anger and love were evident more in the eyes than expressions. His hairstyle and dressing style completely suited him.
Vivian song looks as a pure innocent school girl but still don’t get the concept of makeover by removing the eye-glasses. Does wearing glasses makes one ugly, obnoxious or monstrous. But keeping that aside she acted amazingly well.
Dino lee was handsome and his perfect student image showed up from his face and behavior.

As for music, I was too immersed in the story that I barely remember the story.

Well I didn’t like the opening scene but I really enjoyed the ending. It was perfect and enjoyable. Andy Lau made it so special with the special appearance.
