It was really good in its first episodes, but the storyline was getting dull and boring as it continues.
12 episodes is more than enough for the story

I am stuck at episode 15 and can't continue it -_-

I guess people who watch the full drama and rate it high probably like the male and female lead actors, well I do also, but it is just hard to finish the last three episodes

Love in the Moonlight review (what I thought about it)

One of the best Kdramas I've ever watched, I loved the plot twist & We can learn about Korean history in sorts of ways. I love the Moonlight.
The characters had a bond I felt that kept the drama together. I'm sure a lot of people felt like they were in the drama in a sort of way. The director did very well and the bond kim yoo-jung and park bo-gum had was amazing like a want a guy like that XD
I hope foreigners and other people who love romance and historical dramas would enjoy this. I usually am picky with my dramas because it usually feels boring to me, so I recommend this drama as it's my top picks.
romance in the story and I've always been wanting a season2 ;-;...
If its a recommended drama (from me) I would cry.. I CRIED A LOT.
I hope for more park bogum and kim Yoo-jung <3 I ship a lot
Thank you.

Fairytale kind of romance

I loved this drama. If you're a sucker for romance and a clichè type of storyline, then this would do it for you! Plus, I never realised how charming Park Bo Gum is till I watched this drama! The two main leads have really good chemistry.

Only thing is, the female lead started out bold and gutsy at the start, but halfway through she sort of lost her voice and was always appealing either scared or sad.

However, it's still a good watch, with plenty of cute scenes between the leads!
OSTs were alright, nothing that memorable.

This review may contain spoilers
This drama is one of my favorite drama. I watched it a long time ago already but writing a review now to give it justice.

STORY:
I believe this is one of the most balanced and entertaining costume drama I have watched. It has a lot of themes and lots of characters and plots and sub plots which I think perfectly found their place with the right importance. Starting from the beginning, there is a lot of funny situtions and when the main girl is the target of many other people and often at risk, she is always saved in an unexpected fun manner. The last part where the action takes a new step and the evil ones must be defeated, it is a little less fun as expected but the drama kept being entertaining.

CAST/CHARACTERS:
One of the main quality of the drama is its numerous characters and their importance. What the drama managed to do is to built a nice structure of relationships between these characters to make eveything consistent and enjoyable.

- The main couple the Crown Prince/ the girl Eunuch were so great. In fact, KYJ and PBG new faces and their chemistry brought a lot of fun and freshness to this drama. Their interactions are so fun from the beginning to the end. KYJ and PBG gained a lot of fame with this drama and it was completely deserved as they were a super adorable couple. One little critic will be that the Crown Prince never looked really endangered but he is the Crown Prince after all.
- JJY as the rival and former friend of the Crown Prince was a great character too. He belonged to the family of the enemy and he was the rival in love but he managed to be subtle and faithful to himself and his principles. I really liked him.
- I liked KDY too as the bodyguard of the Crown Prince. The friendship between him and the Crown Prince and the Eunuch was great to watch. He had a major role and his situation was complex. He had a lot of activity and ended siding with the ones he cared the most for. I liked the actor. Not a first rank actor but he proved afterwards he has good acting skills.
- Chae Soo Bin was there too even if I did not know her at that time. They did not make her an awfull rival of the main girl. She was a gentle, lovely but also smart and helpful. I liked the amount of screen she had and how she was honest with the Prince and Ra On.
- Princess Myun Geun was fun changing to an obese princess in love with a stranger to a resolute princess meeting that same man in the palace. This couple was a great comic relief.
- Plenty of other interesting characters who contributed the right amont of fun or suspense: The little princess, the chief of Eunuchs, the parents, the colleagues Eunuch...

MUSIC:
I liked the OST very much specially two of three songs which made this drama memorable. I am still listening to these songs years after.

REWATCH VALUE:
I don't watch everything but when I want to rewatch the best scenes, I am surprised I watch a lot of scenes.

OVERALL:
A good drama and for me, one of the most entertaining. It does use many tropes and clichés of dramas but it is inventive and fun and the great chemistry among the main protagonists make it believable. It talks about many things: cross dressing, one sided love, gay love, bromance, obesity, freewill, sacrifice in a fluffy manner and overall the drama shows a coherent and entertaining story.

Gurumi is a fairy tale. There's the dashing Prince Charming in Crown Prince Lee Yeong, who has to be the swooniest kdrama male lead character ever. Park Bo Gum has always been amazing, but he is simply epic here. Ra On is the poor Cinderella girl with a heart of gold, which made a Kim Yoo Jung fan out of me. There's the evil wizard and the evil queen with the Kims. Fairy godmother in second lead heartbreaker Yoon Sung. So if you love a dreamy romance with all the feels amidst breathtaking scenes give it a try. First half of the drama was utterly magical, though some momentum was lost on the second half because it tackled more politics. In its heart, this drama is essentially a feel-good tale about a coming-of-age story of a young prince you'll hopelessly fall for.

LITM is a drama that has been done so many times. The story is unoriginal and a little boring. At first I felt it was okay with the cute bromance and romance, but then politics take over and blah. Oh and I forgot to mention I am not a fan of gender/bender roles. There were a few emotional moments that I felt the characters were developed well. Actually, the only reason why I finished this drama is because of the acting.

Kim Yoo Jung is a beautiful person. Her soul just shines through her eyes. The problem is no one in a million years would believe that Hong Ra On is a boy. Just no way. I thought Park Bo Gum was highly overrated as an actor, but he was good in this. All and I mean all of the other actors are good too.

The music is fine.

I will never rewatch this.

If you like gender/bender seaguk, then watch sungkyunkwan scandal. It is a much better drama.

This drama completely took me by surprise...honestly I'm really not a huge fan of historical setting dramas, just because I kind of felt from the ones I have seen, that their storylines are a little dated. So I was very hesitant in starting up this drama, but I had heard about it and wanted to see what they hype was all about. Another factor that peaked my interest was that the female lead took on a male persona, which I am generally a fan of in plot lines.

From the get go, I was completely taken aback, I fell in love with the way in which this drama was filmed. The filmography is simply impeccable and so beautiful! The OST has some very beautiful soundtracks, although there were some points where I felt the sounds of our generation took me out of the historical realm, and for that I was a little disappointed.

As for the characters, I felt that some of them were not completely necessary...I will say that I am very partial towards Park Bo Gum and he now holds a place in my list of favorite K-drama actors. I felt that he played a compelling and charismatic Crown Prince, full of authority. I enjoyed seeing how he developed the character into maturity. I thought he had the perfect amount of smoldering smirks without making the character appear completely narcissistic. While the drama had several lines that will make female viewers swoon, I wasn't completely convinced of chemistry between Bo Gum and Yoo Jung, however they did have some high points throughout the drama. I very much enjoyed the action scenes and thought that Kwak Dong-Yeon did a well job in playing the stoic body guard character and was very touched by the friendship between him and Bo-Gum. Lastly, Jinyoung...I could see how hard he worked to do his character justice. While I did feel regret towards him, it wasn't near the injustice that I think I should have felt...but I will say that my partiality towards Bo Gum's character may have had an effect on this.

While the storyline is more a bit more new age than the typical historical drama storyline, I felt that it was well executed by the actors. There were times when I was a bit confused with the scripting--I felt that some of the lines may have been a bit too modern in terms of how the humor and some of the lines. There were also a couple of strands that I felt were not completely tied up at the end of the drama, and still had a few questions left unanswered. However, I was not in any way disappointed with how it finished. I am very saddened to see this drama come to a conclusion, but I know that the actors will go on to pursue new characters for us to enjoy and I look forward to seeing each of them develop as actors.

Dissapointing

It started funny and enjoyable. Acting was great from both FL and ML. But somehow as the story progressed the fl lost her tenacity. I have watched this twice because i really want to like it... the first time was okay, but then the second one was hard to finish.... maybe because the first time i watched i was skipping alot on my phone. And the second time i watched on netflix without skipping and found it boring.
Maybe it is better to watch from the phone where you can skip the unbearable scenes.
The ending was dissapointing...

First, I have a confession to make. I have a problem with watching dramas with the same genre being aired one after the other (i.e. Hyde, Jekell, and Me and KMHM, Blood and Scholar Who Walks..). I usually end up dropping one of the two but this time I held on to both, causing me to sacrifice the level of attention I gave to this drama. And here's all the mix of what I love and not about the drama...

We've seen this story of a cross-dresser female lead stealing the heart of our hero but this time, the story had a more youthful vibe. I am a self-confessed Bogummy fan and I must say that I totally love him. After having him as Taek (in Reply 1988), I forgot how awesome an actor he was for all the diverse roles he had play. Having him as Lee Young is one of the best things that could ever happen. I love him as a mischievous prince who knows how to play his happy-go-lucky image to protect the most coveted throne against the evil forces. All kinds of emotions and definitely his portrayal of this role has undeniably the cause of the so-called "Park Bo-gum effect."

Kim Yoo-jung is definitely a very fine actress in the making. She is so adorable as a girl acting as a eunuch of a prince and as a love guru before she entered the palace. She's the prettiest in sageuks and I wish I could have seen her dress more as a girl. Bo-gum and Yoo-jung has good chemistry between them.

I don't find this drama perfect (despite my love for Bogummy) and there are certain things that I don't like about it. I am not a die-hard fan of sageuks and I find it difficult to care about the political aspects of the story and who knows if I overlooked anything. It's not that I only watched Bo-gum's scenes, it's just that I paid extra less attention to scenes where the dirty politics comes in. I had to bear with this for sake of plot development. Haha. This also means how effective Premier Kim and the other officials as the villain in this story because I am totally pissed off with them.

The thing that I think that this drama should regret is not utilizing Chae Soo-bin's role as Jo Ha-yeon well. Where else can you get a second lead that is smart, honest, and loyal as her? I love her character and I just wish she had more story written for her because her character deserves more than this.

I also felt cheated that I lost the bromance between Lee Young and Byung Yun early on in the story to give way to more romance between the Crown Prince and Ra On. It’s I felt that we spent too much time on how sweet the main lead is to each other that the second leads already lost their chance before they even tried. Well at least Yoon—sung has a lot of part in the whole story.

The beginning part of this drama is what really captivated me - Lee Young's antics as a troublemaker and his interactions with Hong Sam Nom and Byung Yun are the best for me. That felt like the glory days of the drama, and I'm not sure if it's about the extension, but it really became a stretch during the later parts of the drama. Though, in my opinion, the drama redeemed itself in the last two hours of its run.

To the drama's credit, it has its strong points since most the most of its run, I didn't feel cheated of the happiness and (sometimes) loneliness of the characters. The writer knows just how long is enough for us to feel the obstacle that the main lead is facing and when to resolve and wrap things up nicely. Every week feels like I'm having a fight with somebody and making sure that you don't sleep angry with each other. The scenes are well-directed and edited that everything about the drama goes together real well.

This drama has a very good collection of OST and having Park Bo-gum sing one is totally love, love. love.

Overall, the drama is adorable and cute mainly due to the cast, very well thought of in terms of the flow of the plot (most of the time), acted well from all of the characters. I kind of have a lot of complaints but its mainly because of the limited bromance I got and neglecting the second lead who could have done more. For all this, I still think that the drama deserves the love it's receiving. By the time ended, I have butterflies in my stomach, flowers around me, and a lot of hearts in my eyes. It was beautiful drama. Indeed, beautiful.

This is a great drama. This drama is well casted with excellent writing, directing and performances from the actors. The set design and wardrobe are beautiful. Although I think that Kim Yoo Jung is a fantastic actress, Hong Ra On should have been played by an older actress; her age gave a sense of fragility to the romantic scenes with Park Bo Gum (the Crown Prince). Besides that, there is great chemistry among the lead actors and the entire cast did a great job creating a very good drama. Enjoy it!

Another 10/10 kdrama that I've watched this 2021. The hype over this drama is really worth-it. The casting of actors and actresses in this drama is good too. Some of my favorite actors and actresses is here, Dongyeon, Hyesung, and even Seulgi. I can't even find a flaw here. You won't even find one episode or scene of this drama boring. Just a little bit sad on what happened to Yoonsung.

Ya'll need to watch this, I really recommend this korean drama definitely worth it. Everything is perfect- OSTs, acting, characters, and the plot. I can't explain how great this drama is, such a masterpiece.

Firstly, if you are a BO GUM fan, you should definitely watch it. cant miss it out!
his acting skill were very impressive in this series :D
the story entirely revolves around the actress( disguised) who is at times very frustrating!!
there are times when its clearly shown that she is a woman but the prince fails to notice ( too dramatic)

But if you are looking for a historical romantic drama....it is perfect.
there are a lot of cheesy scenes :P
i dont think it resembles "moon embracing the sun"( METS) as much as people say. ofcourse both are historical but its not soo tragic like that of METS.
the first few episodes have comedy in them too :)
so i suggest you to watch it. the background music is very good too :)
