Tearful and powerful

Personally whenever i came across this title, i would look the other way. It was old, and it seemed to just be one of those, tragedy series just by the cover. But i was wrong.. The only reason for poor rewatch value, i don't think i can handle this much tears and sadness the 2nd time.

OST

I liked the ost, i think in most times it suited the mood of the scene and i felt it fitting. I never was taken out the scene because the song was unmatched and most of the times i think , it being silent with no ost suited the mood.

ACTING

The acting was good on the girls part, having to play a role where physically it was demanding and being able to sell it was nice. The parents and siblings had a nice dynamic which made their acting shine, altho the dad was quite comedic and odd so i couldn't get into his lines, his facial expressions and the way he spoke was a bit off putting. The male character Haruto, i think his name was, was an okay actor. His emotions were very subtle and he had that douche face so in most scenes it was a weird lack of emotions. He could've done a better job.

PLOT

I think what this plot hits the most, because it was someone's real life. Seeing the book entries from the real girl's AYA diary was very emotional. Knowing the thoughts of the character were the real life girls thoughts was very sad and you can't help but shed a tear as the plot progresses and so does her disease. The title surely is true to a sense where you will shed a 1 litre of tears by the end of this drama. Of course the drama itself is not for weak hearted, and you surely need to prepare to wake up with swollen eyes. It tells a different perspective on life, and how unfair the world may be, and how no matter unfair it is you must keep your head up.

I was talking with my friends and they also took pictures of themselves crying while watching this series I shared mine and they were like omg I have a picture of me watching this too. The tears on my pillow on the day I watched this were endless. You know that feeling when your crying and your through closes while your crying and you cry more because you are having trouble breathing that is the feeling I got at the end of this drama. If you are sick of weak female leads in drama or sick of the typical drama feel this drama will wash that feeling away. There is soo much to take from this one drama.
This drama is bittersweet, its very sad but that is life and to be honest this drama made me appreciate life, love, family, education, equality, hospitals more then I did before.
I found a video on you tube which led me to watch the drama version on gooddrama.net
I hear the movie version is good too haven't watched it yet but the series really captivates the story well.

Cry! It is the word that is would use to describe my experience with this drama. I cried... a lot! When a finished watching all of it, I realized that it was a mistake to watch all the episodes in a row. I had dark circles on my eyes.
Don't get me wrong, I loved it! The story is great and moving, the actors are awesome! That is probably why I cried so much, because they did such a great job.
Aya is an example of courage and perseverance, not to talk about the great family she as.
It´s definitly worth watching, it sort of makes you feel thankful for the life you have, for being healthy. But if you are a crybaby like me, go easy on the episodes. You probably should make an hour break between them! XD

Just watch it if you're depressed/ stressed in life.

I may have cried about 1 litre just by watching it. I can't imagine how Aya must have felt living it.
I was sceptical to watch it because, you already know the ending. But thank God I didn't skip. Sometimes people tend to take many many things for granted. For example breathing, drinking water, being a ke to eat, walk, run, laugh, write etc. As Aya said, you never realise how important the very little things in life are. Cherish every little thing in life. We don't when is our time.
Must watch !!!

You'll be forever grateful after experiencing this story.

I'm writing this review just to give my thanks.

It's never too late to see this series, as it may be made in 2005 this will be one for generations to learn from.

As we all have heard from everyone and everywhere, value the life you were given, and live it to the fullest.
But sometimes it takes a story like this to take in that fully.

Thanks to Aya for the lessons, thanks to the team and actors who told it, and thanks to everyone that shared it.

--- To break down the points ---

The story is the main selling point of this story, but the actors were so perfectly cast, at first I was a bit unsure of the father and Aso, but the strength jdramas have is character building, which has one come to love them in the roles.

The music felt repetitive, like it forced an emotion, and I'm my opinion, it was not needed at times. The main tracks were good.

Rewatch value? I won't need to, this one like a few others will stick to me for life.
If you can handle another watch, go for it.

The Most Realistic Drama Based on a True Story

My eye is swollen. My tears are drained. My heart beats fast. My brain has been altered. I was knocked.

It's been a long time since I knew this drama. But I dare not to watch it for the time being.
I already knew that it would turn out like this. And it does turn out like this.

The number one Japanese drama ranked by MDL, the number one that touched my heart the most, and broke it the most.

I can't describe how messy I was after watching it. In my twenty-two years of life, what have I given up for my own life? My life had no meaning until I watched this drama.

You know, I always thought that this drama was like a typical 'person with a disability' story. But yeah, it's not ranked number one for no reason.

The realistic plot, realistic acting, realistic notes and realistic feeling that this drama gives will make you question many things in your life. Just like mine.

Moreover, the presentation of Aya's actual memorial in real life, such as photos and her handwriting, makes me shiver and get goosebumps every time I watch the ending of this drama.

This is how cruel life could be, but at the same time, we couldn't be more grateful to God for the life He gave.

I want everyone to watch this drama. Which tells me the meaning of life, tells me how to be grateful for life, and for the love we get from the people around us.

So just like the title says, it is a drama that will make you cry. There are a lot of reasons why.

First of all is it a story based on a real life story, so I keep feeling like it could happen to me or someone I know. Also does it show how the family feels and her friends.

The acting is also great, when they acted it looked so real, like it really happened. The music also fitted perfect at the moments.

I don't know why but I really felt sorry for Ako (the sister of Aya), maybe because she was acting so good or because I could see trough her eyes that she was having a hard time.

I really recommend this drama cause it is just so good.

(sorry if there are grammer mistakes.)

This drama is one of the most beautiful dramas that I saw. The story is very touching and real, I don't have words to describe how sad and heartbroken it was. This drama, besides all, shows how important family can be for someone who is struggling with some kind of illness and how important is to have real friends in those difficult moments.
the cast of the drama is great which made it really enjoyable to watch and everything in this drama is intense and fascinating so I really recommend it .

1 Litre of Tears indeed

This is a drama I feel quite uncomfortable reviewing because it was based on a real story of a very strong young girl who had to deal with this heartless disease. It's the first drama that I've seen, as far as I remember, that was based on a real story so it impacted me on a personal level, which didn't happen with other sad dramas.
It was really touching how we got to witness the consequences of Aya's disease not only on her life but also on every other character's life. Her siblings, her parents, her friends, her lover. I think the cast was very well chosen and fit their roles perfectly. Also, unlike other people, I don't mind that Haruto's character was written specifically for the drama because his character added another layer of reflection and represented Aya's "lost" love life.
There were many impactful scenes, like the one where Ako is scolding Hiro or the scenes where the students are singing that beautiful song together. I think they did the best they could to make sure Aya would always be remembered as a sweet, strong, stunning young girl who had a heart of gold and touched so many people with her sensitivity and honest wiseness.

Wow - Emotional

I hesitated in watching this one. Japanese Dramas can leave a lot out of there dramas - This drama did not leave anything out. It was an emotional ride, the spirit of a person, and the ability to teach life lessons while facing the unthinkable was simply outstanding. The actor's in this drama portrayed their emotions perfectly - even the young brother - The mother was such a strong figure - the real backbone of the family. Have a box of tissues with you whilst you watch - highly recommended.

I remember watching this drama when I was around 12, 13 years old (11 years ago) and it was my first experience with something that really made me want to cry.

Even now, over a decade since I watched it, I still listen to a few of the OST's, Konayuki, march 9th (Sangatsu Kokonoka) and Only Human.

I can clearly remember all of the scenes that made me want to cry, and definitely recommend this drama if you have not watched yet. I don't know if I have the courage to rewatch it, since the drama is too heartbreaking.

I didn't actively started watching dramas until I was already an adult, but I can definitely say now that this drama was my starting point.
