A likable enough drama

After years of watching amazing Kdramas, this one seemed quite a bit forced. The acting was mostly really good, but the story made it feel off. Everyone tried their best. Many reviewers seemed to feel that Park Hye-Soo didn't do a good job, especially for a newbie, but she actually did a decent job, even though she was made to act like a ping pong ball going all over the place. She still made the character likeable and believable.

The one thing that really left me with a bad taste in my mouth is the way the one night-stand between Ji-Hye and U-Il was handled. I mean come on! Who has feelings for one guy and sleeps with another...I could understand if the story showed her drunk and confused, but she wasn't the one who was drunk. It was clearly non-consensual sex which got glossed over. As a sister of someone who died like that, I would be outraged at Kang U-Il, yet everyone seems to just take that as a non-issue. None of the reviews I read here have mentioned that either. This one thing made watching the rest of the drama difficult.

Looking through different reviews of this drama I was a little disappointed to see that it didn't get particularly good ratings, I love this drama and I would recommend it to anybody any day of the week.
The OST's were great (I'm listening to the sound track as I write this and it makes me want to rewatch the drama again), especially Memory by Ben, Because Of You by Kim EZ and One More Step by Sandeul- they're my favourites. The acting was well executed and the two leads played their characters well, it wasn't overdone or too melodramatic. There were sweet moments between the two leads, yes, you may have had to wait for them for a little while, but they happened eventually and they were incredible and worth waiting for.
I especially liked the acting of the second male lead, Yoon Park is a great actor who always portrays his roles well- In 'Hello My Twenties' he made me love his character so much, while in 'Introverted Boss' he made me hate him at moments and then love him at others. I really commend him for being to be able have that sort of duality.
I loved how you really got to watch Eun Hwan-Ki come out of his shell and get more comfortable with the Silent Monster team, many people argued that it happened too fast and it didn't really make much sense with the timing of events- but I disagree, I loved this aspect of the drama and loved seeing all the weird situations he got in when trying to help out his team-mates.
Another aspect of the drama that I loved is how sweet Eun Hwan-Ki (the male lead) is and how the drama portrayed this, everything he does he does it when thinking of how it will benefit others. He's just a shy little boy trying to express himself in the best way he can- yes it does come off as a bit creepy at the start of the drama but you learn to love his quirks and oddities as the drama progresses.

All in all I'd really recommend this drama, give a bit of time (don't drop it too soon) and I'm sure you'll come to love it as much as I do. Don't judge it too harshly at the start and go into watching it with an open mind. Everything will make sense at the end of the drama so don't get confused when it's a bit convoluted. Good luck :))

Stick with it

It was hard to watch until about episode 4 but then I couldn't stop watching it. I may have stayed up way to late to watch it. It may be that I related to the ML and the fear that gripped him as I suffered from something similar in high school. just know that I got addicted and kept saying just one more episode before bed.

Acting was on par. I actually loved the dynamics of the "Silent Monster" group. They became a family.

Give this one a shot and if you want any more details --- let me know.

Should you? Would you? Could you?

You should watch this one (YES! )
You would recommend this to others. (YES!)
You could watch this again. (NOT REALLY!)

ENDING: Happy :)

I gave it an extra star only for the male protagonist, Yeon Woo Jin. He’s brilliant in the role of the shy boss. The shifting of the eyes, the hesitant style of talking, the silent caring - all enveloped into a great characterization by him, evoking the sympathy of the viewer. The supporting actors are very good too in their respective roles. The story does drag a bit but the fast forward button comes to the rescue there. They could have wrapped it up in 12 episodes. It’s a one-time watch.

Give the drama time

I can't lie, I did not like this drama ar first. The main female lead was so annoying I couldn't even fathom it, she was pushy and loud to the point it was just boring to watch. But around ep5 after the backstory episode, Chae Ro Woon did a 180 and she started to become likable.

The whole revenge story didn't really go anywhere as it got changed but i'm glad they didn't venture into that any further because Ro Woon wouldv'e became more unlikable. The whole storyline about her sister was quite interesting though, with the fact they made us think that she like U-il but he like Hwang Gi but in the back of my mind I allready guessed it to be fully honest.

With the male lead Hwang Gi, I really enjoyed his character because I can relate to him so much because I have a hard time communicating with people aswell so it was so intresting seeing it at a 3rd person sperpective and I learned it can create misunderstandings and can be annoying to some people. Hwang Gi is probably one of the most thoughtful male leads i've watched as he watched over Ro Woon for 3 years and also let her take her revenge and let it be. When He starts to change due to Ro Woon it actually made me very happy because he was able to speak his mind because when he's by himself he's very lively like me so I understand him so much so when he did that presentation or talk to his Silent Monster team it was so fun to watch. Watching Hwang Gi's character actually inspired me and I want to be like him someday to where I can express myseld freely.

Now with the female lead Chae Ro Woon, I detested her character at first. She was loud, obnoxious, pushy and had every bad trait a female lead could have. In episode 4 when Hwang Gi did his presentation, she realised that theres more to him than meets the eye and when she finds out more about him, she starts to mellow down but we all know this is because they changed the scripts because she was so annoying so I cant imagine how the story wouldv'e been if they didn't change it. One thing I liked about her new character is that she was really understanding of Hwang Gu's problem and helped him in the end, she even went as far as to forgiving him for her sisters death after realising how much he has done for her in the last year to make sure she wasn't lonely.

The main romance was actually quite fun to watch, the two had amazing chemistry, whenever they were in scenes together, they didn't have a bording scene after episode 4. Out of all the dramas i've watched these two would have to be in the top twenty couple becasue I loved the dynamic they were in, the male was introverted while the female was highly extroverted so they balanced eachother out really well.

With the secondary leads, they were your standard secondary leads to be honest. With U-il I really didn't like him at first due to his stupid decisions and his way of putting down Hwang Gi who was trying to change. But he did start to become likable near the end of the show due to telling people teh truth. With Yi So, I just felt really sorry for her, she was a victim aswell since she got betrayed. When she told Ro Woon's sister to disapear we all know she didn't mean that literally and she was just flustered. She was actually having a really hard time to where she felt suicidle and even resorted to self-harm. I actually like her character and I like her brother-sister bond with Hwang Gi.

The Silent Monster team was such a good cast as they made the show lighthearted but it was sometimes annoying when they misunderstood Hwang Gi. They were all diverse and had thier own personalities which was fun to watch,

There were 2 OSTs that were consistant and they were fun to listen to, there's not much to say about them to be honest.

Overall if you can get over the 4 episode slump at the start then I really reccomend you to watch this show because once you get over that hurdle. The two main leads are really enjoyable to watch as they have great chemistry.

From 1st to 3rd episode it was like Cute Romcom but after 4 Episode because of female lead's annoying and overreacting character it become less intresting ..also I enjoyed unique concept like introversion at starting but then again they used it in a wrong way . Sorry to say but what's wrong with writers that they've written this kind of storyline.. because the reason of Secretary's suicide is disgusting (no spoilers but what she did was really nonsense and her mentality too).
Now Male lead... Instead of saying he is an Introvert or shy you can say he is WEAK OR CAN'T TAKE DECISION WISELY and he just think that he's saving everyone by keeping quite but as an introvert I can Literally say that there is something wrong with the Introversion personality analysis of writers of this drama.
I just dropped it after watching 14 episodes hardly and keep thinking that at last there'll be a good reason to watch this drama.
I can't watch it as "JUST A DRAMA " because it seems UNFAIR as a good and just nice romcom.

You can watch it if you don't mind with my reasons for not watching .
4/10

I think the ML is the most SELFISH BASTARD I've ever seen. Even with his condition. He should be lucky his father is rich to accommodate his illness.
Alot of people seem to "relate" with the ML. But I don't. From ep. 1-9, I really hated his attitude. We can excuse your anxiety when you were little but how about now that you're grown??
He put in zero effort to communicate his feelings across and just allowed people believe what they want.

I mean, I'm putting myself in his shoes and getting anxious about being among people and looking them in the eyes but what about texting, what about coming up with a method that helps you communicate. Life is harsh and people won't just pity you because you're "shy".
What if his father was poor?? What if there was no money to get a pent house?? How would he afford to be independent without communication??
Even when the FL was giving him tips on how to develop means of communication, all he did was run.
But watched from far when she was talking to the SML and get angry shouting at him to leave. So you would rather she was lonely while you're far away because you can't communicate?? That's entirely stupid and not possible in this age of computers. I like how he was humiliated when asked to present.
You picked a team to work with yet did the whole work and asked them to present. How is that not self centered??

I got Soo angry at the ML because if his father wasn't rich, he would be dead meat. Life isn't fair. He identified his problem early but didn't try fixing it in a way that would be acceptable to the mainstream public. That's not acceptable in general.

How can you be secretive from even the man you're hiding behind??
You ask for the girl to be fired initially,l without telling him why. He gives you good reason why he can't because it would be suspicious. Then he starts falling for her and you play the "you can't date her card because she's..." Now he has reason to fire her but you don't want him to without giving him a reason.
You end up being rude to the same man who is taking blames on your behalf and forced into a marriage he clearly doesn't want.

like and dislike
the main story was so cute especially the ML excluding the FL's character

after finishing this drama i discovered why many people was so harsh with this show

there were 3 huge flaws about this drama
the biggest one was the FL ...
i disliked her so much she definitely ruined the drama for me
but somehow after ep. 05 i got used to her

2nd
they mentioned the genre was comedy
this drama wasn't comedy at all except very few scenes
and not about introversion it's about ( Social Anxiety Disorder )

3rd
they tried to make it more thrill and tragedy but they fail
towards the end the events became so illogical and totally mess
they should stick with the first story that the ex-secretary loved (yoon park)
because it was totally nonsense she loved (Yeon Woo Jin) and let (yoon park)
kissed her not once but twice
one in public and one at the bed
and was totally bullshit she suicide because of gong seung
while she was in love with her brother not her fiancee

when you make something wrong first time we call it mistake
second time we call it on purpose dear
automatically if someone u didn't love kissed you you 'll slap him or at least push him away
the story of the secretary was totally mess and didn't persuade me at all
.......................................

first time ever to hate the 2nd main leads story
their characters were horrible ,not convincing and so annoying
someone like (Gong Seung Yeon) was definitely having Psychiatric disorder and she should go to the hospital for sure,
why did her brother leave her all that time
and not logical at all she suddenly got cured

these were the most annoying points for me at this drama
but i really enjoyed so much the character development of the ML
he was totally cute ^_^

So another cute drama came to an end. At first I was kind of frustrated with so many things in this but with each episode it started to pick up pretty well and made sense. So I'd say, don't judge from the first 2 to 4 episodes and just watch it cause it was so worth it. I found myself smiling like crazy while watching later episodes cause they were so cute. I loved seeing Hwan Gi getting out of his comfort zone and trying new things and I related so much to his character cause of the whole social anxiety thing so it was nice seeing that it's okay to be myself and do what I want and to stop thinking every single thing before doing it and just do it. The whole cast was kinda cute to be honest but Rae Woon was the cutest. I loved how driven she was and how she was the total opposite of him that I wished I could be like her. As for Woo Il, I kinda found him a jerk at first but later I actually started to pity him. Yi Soo was kind of a complex character cause it was not easy to understand her actions that you may think she is stupid but she actually had everything bottled inside not to hurt anyone that she makes you feel really bad for her. So yeah, it was cute, fun, intriguing and definitely worth the time.

Since everyone tends to talk about the change in writing direction after critics and audience viewers panned the opening shows, let me quickly address it. I personally don't mind the pre-change show. Chae Ro Woon comes off harsh and overly terrible towards everyone's favourite boss, Eun Hwan Ki. However her motives show why. Quite frankly, from her point of view, it's just. And she learns from her mean spirited actions and develops regret and sympathy from them which manifest into a relationship. Perhaps this was due to the re-write, but that was always going to be the conclusion. People just need a bit more patience.

What truly bothered me was how inconsistent Eun Hwan Ki’s anxiety was. When we are first introduced to the character, it's crippling to the point where he can't look anyone in the eye (and no, it's not just his secretary overreacting although she is in hilarious fashion). However it goes on to be simply fear of public speaking and lack of confidence. Far too passive for what we were introduced to. But you can mark the argument that the introduction is the mistake.

So My Introverted Boss is a standard k-drama. Despite some themes involving suicide and self harming, etc, this is fairly comedic and fun to watch. Maybe the aforementioned writing and editing is noticeable. It's fairly inoffensive though. As is this show. Eun Hwan Ki growing into a confident boss is a great story and the best aspect of watching this drama.

The story about Ro Woon's sister death is really really really deep, plot twist... Hye Soo and Woo Jin is cute in this drama! Love their great chemistry. Surprisingly, what I like about this is that I don't see any pretty very very very bad evil character in this drama. Love the OST from Ben. Cheers. It is worth to watch. :)

Just finished the Introverted Boss, and though I should make a review about it.

Gotta say, I really liked this drama, and enjoyed both male lead and female lead’s performance, though I enjoyed a bit more female lead’s performance and the way she acted.

Anyway, Introverted Boss; the premise looked great, even if you don’t get easily captivated by episode 1, but it does get better if you continue to watch it.

This drama is about male lead’s journey from suffering and being isolated in the shadows to coming to the light.

Male lead is a caring and awkward person, and also a competent, confident person, even though he is mostly content to stay in the background and not letting people see the real him.

This drama shows how he truly cares for his employees, giving second chances, taking responsibilities for his actions, and helps out his friends and more.

In overall, this drama is about male lead growing into himself more and also about romance as he starts to becoming happy and more confident in himself.

Female lead as I stated, I liked her a lot, and despite I hated her a bit in episode 1, I changed as she is super cute, lets leave it at that ;)

You may enjoy this drama, as you will see different character’s motivations, weaknesses and other struggles either in workplace and outside the work, like the main people who work with male and female lead.

I even quite enjoyed a lot the relationship between female lead and other girl, male lead’s first love fancying the same guy, it was a great relationship seeing those two girls, very refreshing and heartwarming, tell me if you seen 2 girls in another drama fancying the male lead.

The relationships in general were great, you will see and watch how everyone grows into a family that wants to support each other.

And THE BEST is the relationship of course between the main couple; they were freaking adorable, full stop every time they interacted with each other, and brought out the best in each other and supported each other, and its quite good to see it.

So, if you havent seen this drama, do watch it, and the music is good, same as casting, story is exciting and not done in many dramas to have similar plots, romantic and heartwarming, you will enjoy the journey and will have wished for more episodes.

So, if you are in need of feeling a range of emotions and more, and a smile on your face, go for it
