This show had me laughing till the end. It was one of the best I have seen. A superb job of acting. I love both main leads. They both brought something different to the screen. I love that no matter how eccentric both leads were they stay together in the end.
The story has a lot of twists and plots and I am glad that no matter what the leads find ways to manage to stay together. The ending to me was a little surprising,
This show is light and sweet and if you want a good laugh the characters are funny and sweet.
The only downside to Chinese dramas is that the story is dragged a little and once it comes to the end everything happens and it leaves your wondering what really happened in-between.
So worth watching.

As others have already said, season 1 and 2 are essentially the same season, just split into 2 parts, so there is no real end or climax as of yet, so this review is based on the first 21 episodes.

Being relatively new to Chinese drama, Tan Song has quickly become my favourite Chinese actress (I loved her as Yun Duo is My Mr Mermaid) and she suits playing the female lead in this drama so far, enabling me as a viewer to go from loving Li Yan Shu one moment, to shouting at the screen the next minute...

Storyline is typical of most romantic dramas, with the usual twists and turns along the way (although certain things quickly became boring or annoying, especially the on-going storyline between Li Yan Shu and the chairwoman.. (which I am finding very frustrating.

Music in this drama isn't anything to write home about, however it isn't the worst either.

I was quickly hooked on this drama, and the male lead is incredibly good at portraying a cold, business driven character, however when he breaks this character every now and again and shows his cute side, he looks totally different, and has the cutest eyes ever!!

I am looking forward to how this drama develops, and where the story leads in 'season 2' :)

This review is based on the first season only and this drama is okay for me, okay enough to continue to the second season.

What I like about this drama is Tan Song Yun's acting. I've watched her in Go Ahead and really like her then so this is the main reason i'm watching Fox's summer. Her character and acting makes this show enjoyable and made me interested to see how two people with such different personalities that annoys each other can fall in love. There are some funny moments that if i do rewatch this drama, i would just rewatch those.

RABBIT & de FOX

Jiang Chao, his character Gu Chengze is a germaphobe and a human lie detector. HE IS SUPER HANDSOMEEE
He gets physically ill when people lie to him. Which is why he doesn’t really look people in the eye that much, but he can’t help it with Yanshu. She tends to lie a lot. It’s usually to ward off misconceptions people have about her in the first place.

Tan Songyun is all kinds of cute and full of spunk. She plays a fashion designer which means they put her in all sorts of adorable outfits too. Her character Li Yanshu is sometimes pathetic because of her family situation, but she is also smart. Outwardly, both he and Yan Shu are polar opposites as she is messy and spontaneous (all the scenes where he is unwittingly drawn into her many pretensions are hilarious) while he is clean and orderly but inwardly, they are a match in terms of character and beliefs. l, and extremely talented.

NOTE - Predictable, not enough kisses, lot of flashbackss...

This drama is really awesome. The best part of it is that the male lead is super cute and handsome. He looks so cute when he smiles. I love this drama. Anybody who likes cute love stories will love it. It has suspense, a little bit of action, and a lot of comedy and romance. If you love such drama then you will love this drama. Even if you don't know Chinese watching this drama on youtube is not a problem as subtitles are available. You should watch it. My favorite part of this drama is the possessiveness of the male lead. Also, the female lead of this drama is super savage AF. She is funny and caring. She is optimistic and is childish. She has a carefree personality and is super adroable.

Quirky but fun!

OVERALL
The first season of Fox's Summer is at times over the top, but still gripping enough to binge. Watch it if 1) you like strong, capable female leads, 2) you appreciate deep backstories and 3) you're looking for slow but realistic relationship development. If you 1) are easily bothered by inconsistencies, 2) don't like slapstick, over-the-top humor, or 3) can't stand bad acting, then skip.

THE STORY
I need to specify my review here is only for the FIRST SEASON of Fox's Summer. This season, I binged in one day. That's right, one day. It's not crazy good, but if you come in with low expectations, first season has enough cool elements to surprise you and grip you until the end. These elements are: 1) interesting backstories for the lead (lots of drama on FL's side and lots of mystery on ML's side), 2) FL's sassy, quirky, street-smart personality, 3) fun dialogues that show writers actually spent some time on the script, 4) the potential for an epic love story, as evidenced by fun scenes between the OTP and a couple of cute ones too.

On the negative side, the drama isn't the most consistent. One second, the secondary male lead looks like a potential abuser, the next we're supposed to like him. One second, FL's mom is acting like a gold-digger who couldn't care less about her daughter. The next, we're supposed to believe she does. One second, FL is a total boss, and the next, she's acting like a clumsy preteen. It definitely gets frustrating as the episodes go by. And then there's excessive bad use of flashbacks. However, the worst, in my opinion, was the childish, slapstick, over-the-top humor that was barely there at the start but increased steadily throughout the season. I don't enjoy having second-hand embarrassment over the FL. I don't find FL acting silly funny. I'm also very tired of the fact that 99% of the time, we're supposed to have a laugh over the FL and not, I don't know, the ML. I find it very distasteful...and sexist. But anyway, if you can skip these parts the drama isn't bad!

THE ACTING
I've seen Tan Songyun before in Sword & Brocade and I really liked her in that drama. In this one, not so much, but I could see more versatility in her acting. Male lead looked like a piece of wood to me, I was really unimpressed by his acting. Chemistry was close to inexistent between them, but I was hopeful for the future with a few scenes.

THE MUSIC
Loud and inappropriate. First time I hate hearing piano in the background, all the time.

REWATCH VALUE
This season has no ending, so I wouldn't watch it again unless I loved the second season. You can find out why if you look for my review of Fox's Summer 2!

Funny Drama with some annoying villains.

It’s such a funny drama specially the interaction of the lead characters. It’s just so annoying that the character of Tan Song Yun gets to be slapped so many times.

Sound tracks are very essential in enhancing scenes and this drama has at most passable ones but some are so disappointing and maybe because the drama was done 7 years ago compared to the dramas done during the recent years, they have great ones.

I’m now at the episode 17 and so far I’d say this drama is not a bad one though not the best drama of Tan Song Yun.

blackface

I was looking for a drama to watch because I was bored and saw this drama, my favorite Chinese actress Stars in this so it was a plus and the plot seemed pretty good when I read it but, honestly I was hoping this could be a good drama to watch but not even in the middle of the first episode and I already see someone portraying as a black person by doing black face. It caught me off guard and in general it’s wrong. Will not continue to watch. Don’t waste your time in a drama that is going to allow black face.

Blackface in episode 1

Well I was excited to watch The Fox's Summer until the scene where Gu is in blackface. That was of course enough to stop me from continuing watching the show. They could have done anything as a disguise. Anything. Yet chose disguising him as a different race. Disappointing...

(500 characters in length so...) (Rating requirements A.K.A. don't pay attention to my ratings since I didn't finish the show)
