- The acting - excellent overall. Especially the BL couple, who were so natural and comfortable - I think there was a lot of ad-libbing, but it worked really well.
- The music - a big step above the usual Thai drama standard. The music was serious when it needed to be. It was actually dark and beautiful in the "almost-kiss" scene late in Ep 7 - I was really surprised and moved.
- The men. Jeez. Other than the main character, the boys were stunning, especially In.
But unfortunately:
- The writing. So, so bad. First of all, the main character is unlikable. He's a hypocrite and is trying to steal another person's girlfriend. He has no positive qualities - he's not intelligent or funny, he has no integrity, and when he has any agency at all, he becomes abusive with it. Also, what's the message here? If you're a loser, join a biker gang and start acting like a dick and you'll be cool?
The BL couple is written nicely, but there's NO PAYOFF!!! Not even a single kiss! It doesn't make any sense - one boy is not gay, but he agrees to date the other because he doesn't want to lose his friendship? WTF?
If you're here for the BL, it's not worth slogging through this awkward, unpleasant mess. I couldn't find an InSun cut, but if you can, it might be worth it, provided there's a payoff in Our Skyy - I haven't watched it yet.
It's a pity, because there were a few nice writing touches, like the conversation in the aquarium - it's like there was a good writer for the dialogue, but the worst one in the world for the plot.

Love the bl
The storyline is ok but I am just not into the bullying segments. Those episodes made me cringe. However bullying is a real issue and as much as I hate this type of storyline it should be dealt with . And Peach is an embarrassment in the beginning but that’s a real part of growing up too. Why do BLs portray the wealthy as strong and those that have to work for a living as weak. Or domineering spoiled male leads. I am watching mainly for InSun, the bl story. In my opinion they carry the series. I just wanted more and more of those two. The actors are awesome and have such great chemistry. The scene where a tear falls from Sun captured his pain so vividly it made me cry. The male and female lead are interesting in a odd way. They seem a bit immature and naive for upper high schoolers. The male lead is more realistic and his acting was actually very good I was so happy to see his character evolve. The music was actually ok . it didn’t overshadow the storyline and provided the right emotion at the right time.
I probably won’t watch again. If I do it will be for the bl segments.
Overall I say give this series a chance. If you think about how it is to be a teenager it gains appeal. All the emotions they experience echo the joy and angst of being a teenager. I really liked the ending.

I felt compelled to write a review for this lovely little series. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the show, right up to the very end. I initially watched it after seeing Our Skyy, but I was totally invested in the characters after the first episode. Everyone enjoys a good underdog story, and this is no exception. I was absolutely rooting for Oh from the start. While Peach was not my favorite, I did feel some sympathy for her. The interactions with three motorcycle boys were so hilarious. I think my favorite part is when Ainam is confessing her feelings to Sun, and he looks at her and says, "You know this right...I am different? Perhaps I am one of those fish that will die alone with out a spouse." Although it is heartbreakingly sad to watch their faces, Ainam is quick to remind Sun that the "fish" can still have a friend. The whole BL story line I feel was so appropriately portrayed, and so poignant, and complemented the main storyline so well., Honestly rooting for everyone by the end. I look forward to seeing the other ones Monster Romance and Happily Ever after. Was this review helpful to you?
The first part was okay and kind of cute. It was entertaining to see how the main character changed slowly after making new friends. The side characters were quite interesting as well. And, after first half, those side characters were the best thing happening to the series. The romance was okay at first, but it got a bit boring eventually. The drama stopped being funny as well. And the main character got a bit annoying.
So, six out of ten.

Underrated, best parts might be overlooked by constantly expecting teenagers to do the "right" thing
So that you wouldn't miss it, here's the gist: I found MDL: Edge of 17 to be a charming, well-executed, and rather bittersweet coming-of-age series graced with wonderful actors. A real heart-warming surprise in my case, since I watched it for the BL plot at first. If you'd like to know why I hardly think this is an exaggeration, consider reading on—I'll try my best to keep it short and sweet, like this show. The story is, simply put, a rollercoaster of joy, pain, and most especially, frustration. That good ol' frustration that comes with growing up. While I've seen many get annoyed at this "frustration" aspect, that's actually what made it work for me. Because really, the characters are supposed to be, well, on the Edge of 17! The woes of adolescence and the often impulsive, reckless decisions one could make as a teenager could be incredibly frustrating, wouldn't you agree? I think it's safe to say that most of us have gone through similar circumstances, one way or another. So if that feeling of frustration comes to you while watching this, I'd say the writers did a pretty decent job, because the production and casting for this show did not fail to deliver. Don't get me wrong, you are in for a lot of smiles and laughs! But imagine watching stories that you've probably lived through, or seen first-hand in real life, and not being able to reach through the screen and do something about it, knowing what you know now. Maybe this is one reason why some people were so vocal about their hate for particular characters and plot points.
However I think that was also my biggest takeaway. Despite what negative comments may have you believe, you might actually get more than what you expected to find, like I did! Bearing in mind the cultural differences of the show's audience, it is likely that different interpretations of the characters' actions and motives will follow. Perhaps it's mostly just another case of "to each his own," yet if one plays the role of an overly-judgmental spectator, they may be left with little patience to let the story unfold, and may miss the simple brilliance of this charming short series.
But if one would open their heart to a bunch of teenagers and enjoy being dragged along for the ride, instead of blocking that enjoyment by constantly criticizing and expecting the characters to do the "right" thing, I think they'll find this show to be an underrated gem whose best parts may be overlooked because of expectations.
In the end of course, I had my own disappointments, but they were greatly overshadowed by what I loved about the series. I was probably in a really good mood watching this, ahaha! I'd say don't let the current rating influence you too much, potential watcher. Don't take our words for it too much either—go and see for yourself! Don't miss out on the great soundtrack, either. Man, the music is just, muah. A fitting soundtrack to the bittersweet ups and downs of youth.
Slight, potential spoilers, but not really:
The BL is as cute as everyone says, ahaha! However, there seems to be quite a lot of hate towards Jane's character, Peach. Honestly, I find that she's not so bad as many visible comments make her out to be. I get that everyone's in love with Sun and Ainam's characters for being wonderful, agreeable human beans—even I am—but being agreeable isn't all there is to a good character. All characters had their own weak points, but all of which were significant for character development, plot progression, and of course, making them human. The entire cast played their parts exceedingly well, really, I'm still in awe just thinking about it.

Wow! Honestly, I wasn't expecting too much going into the series but man am I impressed! Although the story revolves around some pretty well-worn tropes and stereotypes, the writers and actors executed it so well that the story felt exciting, fresh, and timeless. There's a healthy balance between lighthearted sweetness and painful anguish that comes with being a teenager and struggling on that road of self-discovery. The themes explored in this series --- bullying, falling in love, experiencing unrequited love, dealing with and discovering your sexuality --- are portrayed in such a genuine and realistic manner, and I think for that reason this drama can resonate with a lot of people..
ACTING/CAST:
I thought each actor did really well in their roles. Nanon, who plays our main character Oh, was just fantastic. He hit all of the emotions. He made me cringe at his dorkier moments, swoon at his sweet moments, and nearly cry at his sad moments. I don't have enough good words to say about his performance. The other actors were great as well, evoking appropriate feelings of anger, yearning, sympathy, heartache, and happiness.
OVERALL:
Great series. Definitely recommend.

(Bl review. What we all came for)
I watched the entire series. For me, i didnt really enjoy the straight couple and their main story arc. You can skip them entirely and watch scenes where in and sun and ainam pop up, their story line is way cooler. The arc of oh and peach is honestly shallow, petty, and not really nice. The development and the conflicts presented in their arc were pretty forced, not natural. However, the bl arc was the bee's knees, so im basing my review off the bl because we're not letting this series go to waste just cos of heteros. .
For me, this portrayal of BL has to be one of the most wholesome and close to realistic. This bl series is by far one of my favorites, next to puppy honey 1. While puppy honey 1 was more comic and lighter in mood, this one perfectly blends comedy with romance and drama, creating a perfect palette of colors you'd truly learn to appreciate. The development of the bl couple throughout the series is well paced, not forced, not cringey, and just plain darn good. I have never felt the feels ive felt before until i watched this. Furthermore, the characters here aren't annoying. Usually in other bl series side characters can be annoying and out of place, put there just to add some spice. However, all the characters here were vital to the story coming full circle . Each one contributed an important part to the overall message that this series tries to send.----- that you are more than just what people say you are ---- and that love should not be hindered by the social constructs that we have grown up with. A quote from this series h which i love the most would have to be: "it doesnt matter if youre gay straight or lesbian. All that matters is you just love that person." These are only one of many noteworthy lessons you can pick up from this. More than that, its fun and just adorable and feels all the way.
The music is too beautiful. This for me has to be one of the best scored series of gmmtv. Every scene is always backed up with appropriate music, and it never fails to deliver.
I recommend watching this as it will not disappoint. It has elements of comedy and serious plot elements mixed in too. Its a mix of the best things and ive never been so glad to have made a good decision in choosing to watch this series.
10/10 <3

Elongated
*outline*I really support the message of the story and what was trying to be portrayed to the audience indirectly. The drama was very motivating, especially to those who feel insecure about themselves. This is one of the reasons I really liked the drama. I actually learnt a few things from this drama so I definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone.
*thorough*
STORY : The story had a touch of cliche feelings, but it was also unexpected because the fact that everything was being played out was in a way I hadn't seen before. Sun and In were a bit obvious though... but I didn't mind because I liked the pair anyways. I wasn't very favorable of Oh and Peach's ship from the beginning even though I knew they were the main ship. I've just watched way too many BL's, so I shipped Oh with Pong majority, if not all, of the time. The pacing would seem a little slow while watching the drama, but once you've watched the whole thing you may realize every scene was worth the time and wait. At least, I felt that way.
ACTING/CAST : Oh's character being so complex and compound was actually played quite beautifully. I wasn't expecting his character to be so deep with a backstory. Most would brush this off, thinking nothing much of it but this remained in my memory. Usually, the audience would just talk about Oh's feelings he portrays physically/verbally, but the fact he had to deal with so much and come out of his shell must've been so difficult for him. I say this hypothetically, but honestly that was the most beautiful part about this whole drama so this will be at the top of my list for a while. The other actors also did well, but Oh stuck to me.
MUSIC : I didn't really like the songs in MDL Edge of 17... They're not the type of songs I listen to, anyways. But they did set the mood and managed to make me empathize with the story and the actors so...
REWATCH VALUE : I'm not sure whether I'd rewatch this but because it's such a good drama I'll leave the rewatch value a little high. This isn't the sort of drama you can finish off in a day, but it's nice to watch an episode or two a day, unless you become addicted like me and end up watching like half the drama within a day...
*p.s.*
I would definitely recommend this to a friend, whether an old Thai drama enthusiast or a new one. I don't usually watch straight Thai dramas because I can no longer watch straight dramas normally... but this one proved otherwise. If it's really good, I would watch it.
*recommendations*
'Together With Me' is similar in the way, it has straight and BL couples, but it does focus on BL. Unfortunately I don't watch straight dramas, so this is the only one I can think of to recommend.

Liked it but not Loved it
It did like this drama but I didn't love it. I started watching it because of Nanon, he is one of my favorite Thai Actors and for that I wanted to watch this one too. I don't usually like school dramas with bullying and so I had a hard time at the beginning but after our Main leads became friends and stood up for themselves I started to like it more.My favorite characteres of the show are Sun & Ainam but I also really liked Oh. I had my problems with Peach and also In even though I started to understand him a bit more later on. I hated Copper and his gang.
Which keeped me going on this drama was for sure the growing friendsship, how I wished I had such supportive friends when I was still at school. Also loved when Oh came accors the Bikers, these were also some of my favorite scenes.
I was fine with the ending, espcially like the scene were Sun & In talked it out in the shopping center, that was really cute. I just felt sad that Ainam didn't get anyone at the end, I wished she would also found someone.
I might re-watch some of my favorite scene but don't think I'll rewatch the whole drama.
