Boring

This show started good with three totally different FLs joining hands for taking revenge on common cause. However very soon it turned super boring. Same repetitive and boring plots. Their revenge was childish and silly. They planned to bring down councilors and other important figures with glues and chilly tricks, that's like most stupid thing. I am surprised for the high rating this show has maintained, its super disappointing. I was very disappointed with the acting of Ra miran. She was a delight in Reply 1988 but totally wasted in this show.

Just rewatched this and it holds up well.

I thought this was delightful the first time I watched it, so I tried a re-watch, Usually stories aren't gripping the second time, or there's some other problem, but this was as much fun as the first time. I almost passed on watching it because I find revenge dramas depressing and dark, but this is just the opposite. Great cast, and the writing moves right along. It never hit a slow spot for me. Warning, though - it's hard to stop watching and it turned into a binge watch. Loved every minute.

Nothing really happen but still enjoyable

what i find in this drama is there is no point of revenge at all.

1st couple were sexless business couple , so what if husband had a mistress and a child its not like she really liked him or he betrayed there love or something, i mean don't know how she was fine living lonely that man just had sex outside because his wife doesn't want to..............SO WHY REVENEGE ? just because FL is sexless she want her husband to practice celibacy ?

2nd wife need to sent her husband to hospital for treatment since we can understand he is sick has anger issues caused by death of there son, that man is sick and needed treatment not revenge

3rd Ajuma needed social justice for her son and daughter she doesn't have a husband problem so she doesn't fit in with those 2 above

i wanted more of Student life and crush that was forming between those two.. but they wasted all time on 3 woman and a minor hanging out and they they think people are weird for rumors ?

Avengers Social Club (2017) - what keep me running away from the drama is the title. But what keeps me closer to the drama is because of Lee Yo Won as I am a fan of her ever since Pure Love Days, and I really like her as an actress. One of the dramas that I find other people who had watch the same because it was not that hyped in my circle but truly happy seeing reviews to how much they really like the drama. I super, duper like this. Dealing with revenge with ahjumma styles, is really fun. What makes it more engaging is that they are not 20+ age characters but ahjummas already, having their own share of experiences in life, and seeing their own struggles makes me want to embrace them and root for them all the more. The three ahjummas are so different especially in their background stories but having that formed friendship nevertheless, it was fun and inspiring. I do like the character development of each of the characters and there are surely lessons learned from this drama. A lot of the issues have been tackled which may seem dark in other dramas but they tackle it in a way that you will still feel the issues but engaging fun and comedic aura that balances. Definitely worth watching.

It was fun to watch a show with a more mature character cast and have the whole thing belong to them. This is something you should watch if you like shows like HBO's Big Little Lies. I expected the show to be mostly about revenge ( I mean..... what it says on the tin ) but it actually had a huge emphasis on motherhood. Most of the revenge stuff was actually very comedic, but some of the themes of the show are very serious. The way domestic abuse and child neglect are depicted were very realistic at times ( even if the portrayal of a neglectful/abusive mother mostly seems like a total parody ). I feel like the heart of the show can be condensed into one quote, "The more precious a thing you have in your hand, the stronger the fist you make." It's a story about women finding strength in their love for each other & their children, and building this new form of a family and wanting to make better lives for each other.

This is one of those shows I mainly kept watching for the characters rather than the plot in general. Hong Do Hee is such a realistic & joyful single mom and she sort of becomes the mom friend for the group as well, she's the poorest and has no political power so all her strength comes from years of surviving in tough conditions and I absolutely loved her. She's willing to do the dirty work with her own hands. She's the one I'd most like to have as my own mother. Lee Soo Gyum also became more and more likeable as the show went on and his motivations became clear and understandable. He was my favourite of the kids and although I don't watch any kind of high school drama etc. and I thought the school scenes would bore me to death, it was genuinely interesting to see how the lives of the kids mirrored the lives of their parents.

It doesn’t feel like a tvN drama…

I just finished this drama that I started about one week ago, and I really had high expectations for this drama. Although I didn’t know who else was in the cast except for Ra Miran, I just think this drama would be worth it because she was there. I really loved Ra Miran, and I adored how well she played comedy—it’s like she doesn’t even have to try to act funny, she’s just charming and all. However, her acting in this drama disappoints me a little. I don’t think it was her fault though, it was just because the other casts and the storyline wasn’t supporting her acting. But on the other hand, I loved Shin Dong Mi, Choi Byung Mo, Jung Youngjoo’s acting here!

Revenge are one of my favorite storylines of all time, and if you add comedy in it… it would most probably be my favorite drama ever. That was why I had so much expectations for Avengers Social Club. I expected it to be funny, but I didn’t find myself laughing because of it. I love woman empowerment as well, but this drama made it look like every men is wrong, and only women deserves forgiveness. It’s like all these FLs are willing to team up with any women despite once being rivals, but when it comes to the MLs, they would do anything to take revenge on them.

Besides the stiff acting of most of the casts, I just don’t think romance would fit this drama. I don’t like how it was portrayed, and I don’t like how it end as well. There was little to no chemistry in the romance bit, and I just think that it was better if it was never there. Rich women in K-dramas are great, but if they are shown to be reckless in spending money, arrogant, likes to belittle others, it’s a NO NO for me. I really hated Kim Jung Hye at first, and some other supporting roles, but I guess this drama succeeds in their character developments. What I was surprised about this drama is that even though it was not that great, they had the ability to make really good cliffhangers in every end of each episodes, it was super great!

Overall, a light watch, and quite entertaining to watch! It’s really a great decision to make it a 12-episode drama. An 6.5/10! ⭐️

Revenge stories are always fun to watch, but Avengers Social Club tackles other issues as the protagonists go through their journey of revenge that always give the watcher with something interesting to follow.

The story is so incredibly well written, no loose ends or plot holes and even the things you think the writers may quickly sweep under the rug are tied in at the ending satisfactorily. Along with the revenge plotline, there are several others. You have the story of the ASC (BJ) Club, the personal lives of each of the members (yes, even Soo Gyum's!), and the beginnings of mini side stories of the secondary characters (but they never go too in deep with them which I liked, they focused on the main story. They gave us enough nuggets to understand the characters but not too much as to add unnecessarily to the already unfolding story). Each of the ladies struggle with their own unique issues.

(there are no spoilers since most of this info is revealed in the beginning of the drama, but if you don't want to know anything about the story before jumping into the drama, skip the next three paragraphs).

Hong Do Hee is a single mom working a low income job with two children to support. One child is bullied and the other faces issues in her workplace. Despite her difficult life, Do Hee is mentally and physically strong, doesn't take any shit and prioritizes being a good mother above all. I loved her story the most. She realizes that she can love herself too while being a good mother. At the end she clearly learns to put herself up along with those around her. It's a lesson we all can learn, but especially mothers. Take some time to love yourself too <3

Baek Mi Sook has maybe the most heartbreaking story. As a housewife, she doesn't have much power with her abusive husband and the issues her own kids are involved in; she is just spread way too thin. On the outside people keep saying how she's the perfect wife and the best mother, which further adds to her pressure and mental health. The actress does an amazing job of carrying this character; portraying a woman made of glass on the verge of shattering but still keeping herself together somehow. Just as Do Hee, Mi Sook also begins to love herself a little more by the end, but also regains some power and finally lets go of those whom are toxic and gets closer with those whom truly will support her.

Kim Jung Hye's story is the most fun to watch. As a quirky rich madam, she is the one experiencing things in the world for the first time. Though she comes from privilege, we soon learn that there is so much she has not been able to do, and as she navigates through the world, she becomes more clever, more grounded and finally uses all that power she has stored up. I loved her story with Soo Gyum and all of the complexities in their relationship. It's not just about a stepmom and illegitimate child; both Soo Gyum's and Jung Hye's histories connect in a way that is both sad but also one that adds depth to their relationship. Jung Hye has always stood up for herself in her own mind but never voiced it out loud. When Soo Gyum came and the ASC Club was formed, she gained a lot more confidence and become the badass women we all knew she secretly was all along.

My only problem with the drama is that everything is too convenient. All of the people the club is trying to vex are perfectly connected to each other. As they are planning their revenge for each person: evidence, revenge ideas and people to help carry out the plans almost literally land in their laps. The four members barely do anything but sit and chat, and then magically whatever they need comes to them. As well sometimes I feel like the writers were trying to connect EVERYTHING too much. IT'S OK IF EVERYTHING ISN'T ALL CONNECTED!! One more thing, it was only 12 episodes :(((. But it is tightly tied together and like I said, no plot holes.

As well for the music, I wasn't paying too much attention to it. I usually don't and when I do notice the OST, it is because it is either really good or really bad. For this drama, i can say that it didn't distract and was used well, but also safely. Similar to the storyline, the music and cinematography was on the safe side, which is completely fine, but it also means it was not a reason to specifically go and watch this drama.

Though it's safe, there is a beautiful and very fun story here. This drama is very funny but also heartwarming and tackles serious issues without overly romanticizing them. With something funny, fun, and heartwarming, what more do you need?

As well, though it definitely is about three badass women and one smartass boy, our gentlemen kdrama watchers would also enjoy this drama a lot!

Not as good as expected

Oh well, where I should I start? I started watching this drama because Lee Yo Won was in it, I like her acting so much since The Great Queen Seondeok and because the drama had only 12 episodes.

Guess what, in this case, even 12 episodes were too much. Why? Because the story was dragged. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed so much watching these three women helped by a high schooler, all coming from different backgrounds, joining their forces to get their revenge and coming out of their shell. Revenge is, I think, too strong a word, they just showed those men their place and they paid for it! There were funny and touching moments, the actors did a really good job but for me it wasn't just enough. I guess I had too big expectations because of the rating, this time I was fooled.

The OST was quite forgettable but the opening BGM was nice!

I'm sorry but I don't feel rewatching this.

A straightforward yet entertaining drama

A story about 3 women plotting revenge. Joined by a young man, they carry out their individual revenge to people who did them wrong. Lee Yo Won, Myung Se Bin, and Ra Mi Ran play lead characters in this 12-episode drama. It is pretty much straightforward- no intricate storylines, no dragging backstories, no complicated twists. 12 episodes might make someone think that the entire story was cut and compressed, but it's not. Aside from the fact that it was a female-led cast, the drama also deals with suicide, domestic violence, and sexual harassment against women.

It is one of the few dramas I've seen where the majority of the main characters are women aside from "Night Light". And while Lee Jun Young also plays a main character, the storyline is focused on the 3 women. The production team did well on casting Myung Se Bin as a physically abused wife, Ra Mi Ran as a single mother, and Lee Yo Won as a rich young wife.

Avengers Social Club is recommended to watch if you're tired of watching the typical rom-com dramas. It may make you shed a tear at some point, but will definitely make you laugh.

This is the perfect drama if you're tired of watching generic romance, criminal or court dramas and want something lighthearted with a bit of laugh material.

Story: 8/10
The story wasn't the highlight of this show. It was great but predictable. The reason I kept pushing this show back is because the synopsis implied it will be too serious. The reason I kept it in my To-Watch list is because of the comedy tag.
This is not a drama too deep into the corruption topic, it's just a few corrupted targets and they're dealt with in a lighthearted manner. Nothing too dark or serious just simple law and execution.

Acting: 10/10
First I'd like to say this felt like watching a group of women in their 20s, their reactions, characters, and everything was so cute for their age.
All the main characters were well-executed, I especially loved Kim Jung Hye. A 37 years old acted like a girl in her 20s sometimes when faced with things like ramyeon, instant coffee, and other low-class meals.
Hong Do Hee also had her cute moments near the end and was the bravest of them and quickly became the unni of the group.
Lee Mi Sook Self-deprecating character was a bit too harsh to watch but it also serves as progression when she finally decides to value herself and her daughter.

Music: 7/10
There was nothing noteworthy but all the music pieces fit the scenes just fine, nothing over-dramatic or underwhelming.

Rewatch value: 10/10
Definitely give this one a second watch at least, I noticed many things I accidentally missed because I was too absorbed into knowing what happens next.

Very wholesome and heart-warming

This drama has spoiled me. It was an instant favourite for me just from that pilot episode. I don't think I will ever watch anything comedy-related that's as good as this drama is. It combines comedic elements with serious issues that many people face every day and deals with them in such a healthy manner. All the characters have such amazing chemistry with each other that no scene was ever boring or felt misplaced. The writing is just stellar. The actors did such a phenomenal job of making these characters come to life. Not just the main cast, but also the support cast. It was so wonderfully acted that you really grew to care about the characters in a very short amount of time. If you love found family trope as much as I do, you will surely love this one! It's really sad that this drama is almost always nowhere to be found on streaming services because it deserves so much love. I wish it had 16 episodes, but 12 episodes was still enough to wrap up the story really well. Bok-ja Club fighting!

Avengers Social Club: The drama you think you won't need but you'll look for more, crave for more once you started it.

Revenge dramas has been a household staple of dramas ever since. It's difficult to thread the waters of the typical and cliche. But, ASC, didn't swam through those waters. They flew right above it. They made the sky their mold. ASC broke all the conventions of revenge dramas. I won't even dare say this is a revenge drama after finishing it.

The first outstanding part of this drama is the story. Yes, the plot might sound albeit funny and unusual but that's what makes this drama great. Almost none is left out of hand. Every event is cohesive and is connected. The story helps the characters develop whilst gaining interest. The drama also tackles societal issues without being too exhausting or overbearing. It's truthful on it's characters and on it's audience. It's been proven difficult to describe this drama's relentless charm and wit without any spoilers.

The characters- I have never been so engrossed and engaged with characters as I did here. I salute the writer for taking the risk of putting different facets of personalities in one group and making it work well. Mind you, everyone on this drama is all rough on edges and might make you feel perplexed for a bit and watching these characters' adventures on  developing into their ideal selves is the most rewarding aspect of this drama.  The actors did well with their roles too. None of them feel disconnected with their characters. They brought their portrayal to life. It's as if you've had forgotten their names and remembered them as their characters here. They are that good.

The music and scoring fits and blends the drama. It help convey scenes in an almost subconscious manner.  No annoying or over the top sound effects present on this one.

As for rewatching the drama, I WILL DEFINITELY DO IT AGAIN. This is the type of drama that won't lose it's personality no matter how many times you've watched it. Everybody is lovable. The story is definitely worth the time.

This is the powerhouse drama of 2017. It's a gem the light is worth striking.
