I've never had 2nd lead syndrome so bad as I did with this Drama. The main OTP had their share of issues but how fun to have a reset in the past when they go back. The writer did a nice job spreading out their 2nd chance at love, also with them trying to help out their friends in the past as well was a nice touch. The story seemed short but not rushed with it only being 12 episodes a few more would have been nice. They did wrap things up nicely with a satisfying ending. I don't know if I would rewatch this whole drama again as some stories seem to only merit a one time watch once the story climax wraps up. But Nam Gil steals this show so much, I would rewatch his scenes for sure! This will be so easy to binge watch! Enjoy

Simple Story

This story did not make any sense to me. Prior to going back in time, they both file for a divorce and when they wake up back in college, there is all this jealousy factor going on.
Logically their divorce doesn't make any sense and I couldn't connect with their initial dilemma which was lack of appreciation of each other.
A powerful story is when the characters transform and their lives have the potential of being better when they have learned the lesson.
I couldn't see how they transformed and what lesson they learned.
For me, Familiar Wife is a much better story along the same concept.

This drama is so underrated. I couldn't understand why there is not many people watching it.

The story is very realistic, minus the time travelling. The struggles, the conflicts of the characters are relatable. I swear this drama will make you don't wanna stop watching it, as it gets interesting. It takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions, as sometime you will giggle and sometime you cry a river.

Besides the story, there are so many values that you can learn from this drama, watching it even makes me feel like I went to a motivational talk. It is light, heartwarming, realistic and relatable.

The casts are amazing and they did an amazing job. The OST are just okay. I would strongly suggest you to watch this drama, you will not regret it

This drama is of the "divorce redemption" genre. Jang Na Ra (who is as doll-like and ageless as ever in this) plays Ma Jin Joo, mother of a son and wife of Son Ho Jun's Choi Ban Do, both of whom are nearing 40. Their marriage has fallen into a contentious state and the show opens up with a handful of events leading to their acrimonious divorce. After they both throw away their wedding rings, they wake up the next morning to find their 38-year-old minds in the bodies of their 20-year-old selves. They each set about trying to reshape their fates with the ones who got away. The second lead syndrome is strong in this show, as both Band Do's first love (ballerina Min Seo Young (played by Go Bo Gyeol)) and Jin Joo's sunbae (Jung Nam Gil (played by Jang Ki Yong)) do wonderful jobs presenting possible alternatives that absolutely fit and make sense and would be wonderful. The ever wonderful Kim Mi Kyung plays Jin Joo's mother, Go Eun Sook, and along with the rest of the supporting characters add nice flavor to the stew. The drama is only 12 episodes long and it's a rambling walk up until the last three episodes, where it suddenly sprints. Bring tissues. There are many feels.

AMAZING!!!!!! I didn't expect to love Go Back Couple, but it really grabbed my heart. I watched a 10 minute clip by chance one night while scrolling through stuff before bed and decided I'd start watching it the next day and that's when I found out it was sooooo good!!! I definitely cried a lot - mother daughter scenes, sorrow over not being able to be with their son, not being able to be together - I didn't bawl, but I definitely got chocked up for them all in general. And I've always said, if the writers can get me to cry for the characters, then they did a good job. I did cry really hard during one particular scene near the end; the scenario was so unexpected that I had tears running down my face before even realizing they had started. The lack of hesitation in this scene, showing the true love the husband felt for his wife stole my breath and tears instantly.

Go Back Couple will speak true to those people who have been with their significant other for many years, like I have. Where you forget to be tender with each other, to communicate with each other, and why you love each other. It communicates how life's struggles and troubles can really cloud your true personality, emotions, and feelings, creating space and walls between yourself and others you never intended to create.

Go Back Couple starts out very sad. It starts with a divorce - a place we never thought we would end up 15 years ago, but here we are. You see the inner thoughts of each character and find out what really went through their heads during those detrimental moments that ultimately ended their marriage.

What made this drama so amazing for me was how they were forced back in time, forced to interact with each other (to their chagrin) because their friends were in similar social circles and forced to really communicate. What they discovered about each other really moved me as a viewer and as a wife.

The ending was perfect and the pace and humor (their friends were HILARIOUS) were in perfect balance so you wouldn't be dragged down by a melodrama (which, Go Back Couple was NOT).
If you have been in a romantic relationship with someone for 10 years or more, this is a must watch. It will humble you and remind you as to why you love that person and where you hope to never see your relationship go (before you have to go back in time to fix it, that is ;D ).

Important drama plot

While many Kdrama's focus on the process of falling in love and the struggle how to become a a couple and all the tension coming with it, that drama deals with the burden and obstacles that come up when you don't see everything through the rose-coloured glasses any more, become a couple, marry,...

So stress at work, loss of a relative, lack of time, growing old and getting a long with it will be something everybody has do deal with at some point and when everything becomes to much and none of the partners can escape from the vicious circle it can end up how it ended up here in the beginning. And while raising a child will give you a wonderful experience it's also a huge task to fulfill and to fulfill it especially to the level you want it to be fulfilled. All of that is kind of addressed in the show in some aspects more or less.

Though of course in real life nobody can go back in time and do like the FL/ML but that's what this drama in the end is there fore. It makes you clearly reflect on your own behaviour in the past and how sometimes things just get out of hand and in the wrong direction. It teaches us to reflect on our own, to talk more and take more care of each other, not only in a relationship sense also in general and that's what makes this drama so valuable.

It's also covered very well how the FL and ML deal with their previous crushes in their university time. The special story between the FL and her mother is addressed in a very heartwarming way and of course how the FL and ML missing her child.

The music is quite memorable, when it comes to that melodramatic piano tune. I'd say it's also a good rewatch value for some scenes. My only complaint is that the ending and resolving is a bit rushed and bit to easy, as normal life won't be like that, but you can say it's something to look forward to, of course. And in some scenes you really want to smack the ML for how he's talking/baving to the FL.

Waah~ I finished a k-drama after such an awfully long time!

'Go Back Couple' was a drama I heard about here and there but I didn't check it out then— and I did it now and totally an AMAZING drama!

Firstly, the story is so great! So creative and each episode taught me about different lessons in life. How a simple misunderstanding can ruin your life, how it would feel to lose someone so special to you— this drama taught me all about it.

The characters were highly realistic and it felt like I was watching an actual married couple going through so many problems. The character development is amazing too! You will experience all kinds of emotions while watching this drama!

It's cool how I didn't get the SLS because of the love triangle and I had rooted for the male lead the whole time!

Then there's the music. The OSTs and every music used in the drama suited it so good! It was excellent and the feels of the drama felt greater because of the music. The OSTs were great!
In the future, I'd definitely rewatch this drama since it's so freaking good! Sad how it's only 12 episodes but I guess that's what makes the story perfect and not too draggy or slow-paced.

Overall, an amazing drama and with all kinds of vibes to it– happy, funny, sad etc. Highly recommend everyone to give this a try! <3

I'm not going to talk much I just can only say this the best family, comedy, romance, school, innocent, fantasy but soooo real drama i've seen for years now.
this is not an ordinary time-travelling drama this was so pure, so real, so touching, so teaching ..
it gives you third eye to deal with life I can claim.
Feeling that I just finished a great lesson. Brilliant and such a deep and beautiful moral.
seeing more than you ever seen in love in family, friendship, life lessons this is moral indeed.
and why on earth i was crying whenever Jang Nara did!!! I was crying then laughing out loud then crying then... it hurts it's a lesson indeed!
why on earth I'm just 21 yo and I wanna also go back!!! here is an exausted sigh really!!
No comment I can give on this except saying This drama is a masterpiece backage.
I regret shelfing it for long time and you shouldn't miss it.
this is the best in everything, every single detail.
best 12 eps i've ever seen.

I watched this drama becuse of Jang Na Ra but it becomes the one of best drama to me. The story is very touching my heart. I think that if your age is over 30 or your parents passing away, you will like the story and how the writer tries to convey the story to you.

When I was in a relationship with someone, I run into many problems like Jin Joo but Jin Joo and Ban Do can go back to the past to fix their troubles again and re-think about their true love. Then, a reason that makes them get through it is a true love of their child. The drama tought me about couple life to talk to each other and put yourself in his/her shoes. Fighting is not worse than keep quite.

But the part that touchs my heart very much & I cried a lot is Jin Joo's mother part, because my mom also passed away so I have a same feeling like Jin Joo. She did not have a chance to say good bye to her mom before her mom died. She thinks that she was not much take care of her mom. Thus, when Jin Joo got a chance to meet her mom again, she always besides her mom, sleeps with, spends time with and hugs her mom so many times. I am so jealious of Jin Joo. I want to hug my mom as well. :D This drama is making me much more taking care of persons I love.

This is the first drama I like so much not because of oppa. lol
Love this drama a lot....<3 <3 <3
Thank you for making it for us.

i had high expectations from this drama because there were so many positive comments. I thought this is going to be kind of drama where characters learn from their mistakes to be better person but triangle love ruined everything for me. I think they shouldn't involved SML into story. The story could have been better if it focus on relationship between FL and ML and how they get along each other. Man , FL and ML had great chemistry this is so boring to see FL and SML had more screen than main leads.
But i must be fair right? Lets talk about positives points too.
This drama learns you to be grateful for things that u already have who knows what would happen in future maybe you lost them very early. For example "Mother " mother always protects her children and she always wants best things for them. But unfortunately we wont have this angel for enite of our lives. We should always respect our mothers and never break her heart with our words.

The way to love anything is to realize that it may be lost.

Quick Roundup on plot -

Choi Ban Do (Son Ho Jun) and Ma Jin Joo (Jang Nara) are at their wits end in their marriage as they decide to get a divorce. They got married straight out of university and found it difficult to maintain their feelings for each other after so many years of being married. Shortly after their divorce becomes official, the two travel back in time to when they first met in university. It’s a story that shows what happens after the “happily ever after” in a romance.

GO BACK COUPLE -

The show portrayed the difficulty of experiencing initial encounters, first loves, rejections, friendships, and dreams. Furthermore, a mother's and her daughter's affectionate bond is emphasized. It shows ' The crucial component for every happy relationship is required proper communication/relationship building so while you're at it, learn how to share/ exchange properly your feelings for your loved ones.
And although the plot was quite simple, its storytelling is so attractive, the writing was simply excellent and well executed that we can really feel like we were traveling with them. This 12-episode Korean drama holds a perfect pace. The writing and directing also achieved excellence in developing a drama that perfectly combined humor and meltdowns of emotion.

The main leads relationship's redevelopment( past to present) was dealt with realistically and at an enjoyable pace. They learned about their problems and matured them, they separated from together instead of just quickly deciding to dislike each other when they traveled to the past that showed but eventually they started to Love each other again that showed only Love, past or present, is the only thing that remains unchanged.

THE CAST IS SIMPLY AMAZING !

Yes, absolutely every character on this show is awesome. The characters themselves, the people who wrote them( writers) and the actors who brought them to life all worked together successfully and flawlessly.

Son Ho jun gave a standout performance in heartbreaking sequences that evoked feelings of innocence and vulnerability, similar to a before marriage situation of being arrogant, making fun of, and immature. How much he destroyed himself to pointless people after his marriage in order to feed his family, but he never told his wife about the awful reality.

Jung Na Ra the way Her portrayal of a mother( She cries every night, recalling her child while realizing that she is currently not with him. It was an intensely emotional time for all kdrama fans.) and daughter ( who never changed her love to her mom, despite realizing that it was her last opportunity to treasure their happy memories together) her acting his so endearing and natural that it will connect with many of us.

Jung Nam Gil gave a fantastic performance as a person how quiet, secretive, and reserved he was, yet it did not hinder him from expressing his feelings for the main female character.

Like other second female leads in typical kdramas, Min Seo Young wasn't crazy or jealous; instead, she was insightful and mature to her age. She was inspirational, supportive, and understanding. Her acting was amazing. ( My personal favourite second male lead ).
The supporting cast makes drama more funny at the same time it highlights the family affection especially mother and daughter emotions.

I would like to highly recommend this drama to everyone looking for a mature rom-com that emphasizes friendship, family relationships, and remembering the good old days of being in love.
