I was irritated with Youku app when i came across this show. I do t know what got into me to watch the first episode. Normally, 15 minutes through i will drop genre i dont typically watch. This is a surprise, i got interested so i came to MDL to checknout info on the show and artists. Episode one ended with that mysterious black caped man and after reading the casts here, it revealed who it is. You could have kept it mysterious ? At any rate, I will proceed to episode 2. So far, it got me interested. The character of that new guy Guo is irritating by the way, overacting in my opinion reason for the minus in rating for episode 1.

Intro is great, CGI is bad. I dislike the minister's nephew, whatever his name, and the comedic moments. The main leads are ok, I suppose, though I'm not feeling invested atm.

The episode was okay but I found that the acting was a bit over the top. Guo Changcheng is so annoying to the point that I wished for him to be killed in the first episode. Zhao Yunlan's frequent pointing and gesturing was also very distracting. On the other hand, the music is very good.

The show dives straight into action without much explaining. Now I'm waiting for more profound introduction of characters. And I'd like to know what happened between the two mail protagonists in the past. Seems like there's no romance but I'm very okay with that one.

After watching some Asian series like the Chinese The untamed, and the South Korean Kingdom, this was a bucket of cold water.
