Hit and Run Squad had a nice idea about the plot. However, it felt like that idea got lost. I liked that the story had a main lead but a hidden lead as well. And the performances from all the actors and actresses were really good. However, some scenes were confusing and they made it difficult to understand the whole story. But, the action scenes were enjoyable as well as the car chasing scenes that were exciting and entertaining. So, six out of ten, because, even though the cinematography and the performances were good, the story felt a bit short.

Based on the cast alone I should have loved this movie but I didn't. I don't watch many Korean movies but when I saw one of my couples from Jealousy Incarnate and my imaginary namja chingu from Lucky Romance staring in this one, I knew I had to watch. They didn't disappoint but the story unfortunately did.

The cast is this movie's saving grace, although the supporting cast is pretty forgettable. Jo Jung Suk
as Jung Jae Chul is unexpected but as arrogantly charming as always. Gong Hyo Jin as Eun Shi Yeon is a good strong female lead, although not as interesting as the male leads overall even though she is the center of the story in some ways. Ryu Joon Yeol as Seo Min Jae to me is the best part of this whole film. I am a fan of his weird quirky charm, which made me love him in the first place, but I liked seeing the action star sides of him too. I can't imagine any other actor playing that role as well.

I watched knowing nothing about the plot, which was a good thing, so I won't give much of it away. I liked not knowing who was good or bad, which was one good thing about the story overall but as a police action thriller it was pretty tame with some cool car chases but not much excitement overall. I honestly didn't care about the story at all until maybe halfway through, and even then it was more about loving Ryu Joon Yeol than it was about the plot.

Overall this movie didn't live up to my expectations, but it didn't quite disappoint either. It was pretty light as far as thrillers go, but not funny or romantic, so it was too tame for my taste. Maybe I'm just not as big of a fan of this type of genre in Korean Cinema, but there were hints at a sequel did leave me a little bit curious about the possibilities. Maybe if I lower my expectations for the next one I will like it more.

I give this movie 2 thumbs up! or an 8 out of 10! The 3 main cast did wonders for this movie. 3 of my fave actors but I was pleasantly surprised with Ryu Joon Yeol's acting. He is sooooo good! I hope he gets to do more diverse and challenging roles like this. He deserve an award for this if not him, give it to Jo Jung Suk who was equally fantastic. a bad guy for a change!
I read a lot of complains about the story, but I guess most of us is used to korean damas who takes a few episode to get a feel for the character and story, but sine this is a movie and it is compact, They had to compress everything. Still, I think they did a good job. I recommend this movie who loves action and car chase

If South Korea made Fast & Furious, this would be it......

Seriously I'm not kidding. It's like the producers and the writers made a list of all the key points from fast & the furious and simply added their own filler to it. I can just imagine them going like-
Police- ✓
Criminals- ✓
Expensive cars- ✓
High speed car chases/races- ✓
Family- ✓
Despite it being so similar to fast & furious, Hit & Run squad was alot of fun.
The story definitely could have been better but what this movie lacked in plot it made up in a solid star studded cast and engaging performance.
Gong Hyo Jin & Jo Jung Suk are both top tier hallyu stars and very versatile. I've personally never seen any of their performances that I disliked.
Gong Hyo Jin was great portraying her I'm-a-badass attitude.
I was pretty surprised that Jo Jung Suk was playing the main Villain and then awed by his acting. It felt like he was born to play the eccentric and kind of mentally deranged pro-racer.
The most shocking was definitely Ryu Joon Yeol's performance. I had only seen him once before in the drama Lucky Romance and while his acting was okay, the drama itself wasn't all that great. His character here was supposed to be a weird and clumsy detective with a dark past. At first his character is funny to watch but as the plot unfolds and tragedy strikes you can see him transform into the maniac he used to be. His acting was amazing and really interesting (I have since re-watched that particular scene multiple times).
The rest of the side characters aren't particularly memorable but they did a good job as well.
While this movie is not as great as some of the other korean movies that I have watched, it's definitely fun and interesting and worth watching.

MORE.

This movie? amazing.

This movie hit every mark for me. It has every aspect in a crime drama that I love, the action, the plot, and twists that we know and love. If this was a drama I would easily watch 20+ episodes religiously.

The reasons why this film gave me so much to like was because of how "clean" everything was. The story didn't feel rushed at all, it gave us clear backstory and character development allowing us to engaged in the story all while keeping it short and sweet.
The actors did an amazing job portraying their characters, JJS and GHJ are actors I've followed for a very long time ( Jealousy Incarnate anyone?) and they did not disappoint in any way. Also have to say RJY was absolutely amazing? his acting gave me shivers?? I haven't seen much of him, but will be on look out in the future. ( will be going to watch some of his dramas). His acting was integral and my favourite by far.
I didn't get much from music if there was any at all but not important to me the story didn't lack in anyway from it not being there.

To me this movie is everything I hoped it would be. I never like the "fast and furious" franchise, I found it dry and unappealing past the first movie. But after I saw the trailer for "Hit and Run squad" I was looking for a way to watch the whole thing within minutes.

Would recommend, especially if you enjoy action/crime genre.

Based on personal opinion. The main actors and actresses was nailed it in portraying their character but such a pity because i feel like the story is lack something so there's some plot hole here and there. The ending is disappointed for me and it kinda makes me angry and i feel like i just wasted my 2 hour, it's quite unclear for me about the ending. Some part i feel i know it before it happened so yeah, i mean it's quite expected.
The character:
i would give it 9/10 for Ryu Jun Yeol for potraying his character, it makes him the center of this movie, i can feel his emotion through the entire movie.
Jo Jong Suk was nailed it too so i'd like to give him 8.9/10, in this movie he impressed me how for portraying his character because he's a jerk here and yeah it makes me hate him because he's ruthless and crazy af.
Gong Hyo Jin was good, imma give her 8.5/10. She's the main character but it feels like these two above are the center from this movie. I mean she's good and badass but i don't know why i feel like her character can be more than this.

The Korean Fast & Furious

This movie was worth watching at 3am and it kept me alert and wide awake despite the late hour. The police politics, the twist, the high speed car chase was so satisfying that I didn't even need a snack to go with the movie.

Each of the actors did an amazing job at portraying their characters. Jo Jung-suk was as charming as he always is even as an antagonist. Contrary to some comments from other viewers, Gong Hyo-jin's monotonous and expressionless acting made her role as a strong female officer appear and feel more realistic and reminds me of how Vin Diesel was in F&F, you see the emotion in their eyes, not their face. It was the first time ever that I saw Ryu Jun Yeol and he easily made it to my long list of budding actors to watch out for. Then, as the cherry on top, seeing another top favourite, KGE at the end was a pleasant surprise. I hope there'd be a sequel with her in it.

Ryu Jun Yeol's the star

Hit and Run Squad (2019)

This movie is about a police team in-charge of hit and run accidents. One of the cases involves an arrogant race car driver avoiding arrest and lying about the hit and run incident a few months ago which later turns out to be much more - bribery, death, betrayal. But our squad is staking their lives to catch him before he flees the country.

I think the real star of this movie is Ryu Jun Ryeol's character Minjae who at first looked like a weird cop with good instincts but once we find out more about his past, we realize he isnt as dumb as he seems. I love his relationship with his dad and the ambulance scene was ???.

I'm not used to seeing Jo Jung Suk as the bad guy but he kind of has that scary look on his face when he tries to threaten Siyeon or Minjae. There were two scenes which I think were inspired by fast and the furious when Jaecheol was running after Minjae and Siyeon.

I was expecting more of Gong Hyojin's character Siyeon but she didnt do much. I liked her with Taeho, i'm happy he didn't die. That twist with her boss was unexpected but was so sudden it didnt really had much impact.

The ending also felt incomplete. So what happened to the boss? Is there a sequel? Kim Go Eun's character is only a cameo? The police commissioner's accident is he dead?

Rating: 8/10

Madness + Speed & Race

Dis movie’s got de high speed car chases dat often lead 2 intense & messy crashes, well-choreographed street fights, & bloody punches 2 de teeth. If u came here 4 action, u won’t be disappointed… u just might find de 1st hour of de movie a little dull. An avid viewer would find dat the second half wasn't a waste of time or de repetition of de story dat was already told as some critics claimed.

Viewers are thrust into heart-racing action, den brought back down 2 reality & dare I say boredom in de very next scene. It felt as though de action scenes never really came 2 their climax, & dis could b said of de ending too. It would b wrong 2 say dat de conclusion of de narrative is anti-climactic, bcz it came 2 a quick finish wid no loose ends, but we didn’t get 2 see Jung Jae Chul really experience his defeat, & de police commissioner was all but forgotten long b4 de ending.

VERDICT _ procedural plot, slow pace and misguided ending. P.S loved the acting of Ryu Jun‑yeol....

Sigh, I swear to god at this point I have just decided to drop anything with Gong Hyo Jin in it. Her acting and her horrendous singular facial expression makes me want to tear my face out.

Yet again, second leads and support roles save whatever hell she's in. Ryu Joon Yeol as pure badass stole the movie, had goosebumps when his switch flipped. Jo Jung Suk's character development acting style was very engaging.

Cinematography was very good, SFX were good.
Shift+Delete Gong Hyo Jin and this would be a 10/10.

Hope they could make a sequel

It is so rare to find a movie or drama without any romance, glad this one stayed 'til the end. No accidental pairing, no forced romances.

The actors did quite well, it was just that some parts of the writings were confusing. It felt like they can't decide who between Hyo Jin or Joon Yeol as lead should be given more weight to pull the story to the end.

Ang Jong Suk was incredible, though I still can't see him as an antagonist, having seen most of his works as the good guy haha

But I guess the shortcomings were some sort of a trade-off in making this concept a movie. I guess it could have been properly addressed if this was plotted as a drama. I enjoyed it, nevertheless. The rush and the thrill of car racing were perfect in here.
