First of all.. this movie is hard to find online with subs.. I was fortunate to watch on the plane for my long hour trip to SF.This movie didn't even play in the theatre in my country.
I love this movie a lot... for someone who didn't really like melodrama this movie sure is very moving to me. The cast was brilliant... Jasper and Ivy's chemistry felt so real.
Of course its a remake from the korean movie with the same title.
Didn't guess the ending was that way.. but it really shows what true love really was. Tho her decision in the end was foolish.. but I guess its better than living without her other half.... (this kind of feeling is really hard to understand)
Storyline was very good.
Acting and casts were perfect.
Tears level... surely high.
Music... well if you understand Chinese,,, the wording of the main song is really moving and poetic.. it clearly describe the sadness of one's feeling.
Overall... I would give this movie a 9 star rating.. Will I be watching it again? well sure.. if I am able to find it subs online.
I really like Jasper Liu's acting as well as Ivy Chen's acting.. they never disappoint in their acting and movies/dramas...
Looking forward for their chance of working together again.
Hope those who will be watching this movie.. will enjoy it as much as I do.

Love isn't always fair
What choice do we make when faced with fears? To run away or to stay, to fight for what you have the right to have and/or to live?K and Cream decide to keep a status quo in their relationship despite a more than brotherly love for fear of hurting each other, for fear of losing themselves, for fear of losing the other and for the famous for you own good. But in the end what did they gain? Nothing except misery and loneliness.
It's a fairly classic melodrama with its share of sad moments, unknowns and angst. As a bonus if you feel the urge to get angry at characters for missing the main sauce to any relationship in a decent story "communication" then go for it.

The concept if this movie makes for great melo however there were a few elements that could’ve been better.
I liked the storyline. But the story was too unevenly paced. In the first few minutes we get to know half of the story already. There were also a few plot holes in my opinion and sometimes it was confusing and hard to understand why some characters acted the way they did.
I liked that it was bittersweet. K is afraid to be honestly with Cream because he’s scared that she will leave her and wants her to live a better life with someone more “capable” than him. Cream is also afraid to confront K about her feelings for him because she is comfortable in her relationship with. You can see that these characters had traumas in their past that affected their relationship. I liked how these characters were real, they were flawed and thus the ending is not magical but heart wrenching.
The actors did a great job, even the supporting actors! To be honest I started watching this movie because of Japser Liu but no one disappointed. I think the cast could’ve given a better performance if the writing would’ve been better.
The cinematography was so beautiful in this movie. It’s definitely one of its strong points.
Overall it’s a good melodramatic movie and I would recommend if you like this genre or the actors. It’s a shame that the writing was confusing sometimes.

“The love in their point of view is based on each other’s happiness.”
Completed: 9/23/2022Subjective Rating: 8.75 rounding up to 9.0
Objective Rating: 8.0-8.5
Coming into this, I knew this is going to be a tearjerker. I chickened out and chose to watch the movie version, instead of the Korean, Taiwanese or Filipino drama series. I can endure 1.5 hrs, but over 10 hrs would be too much heartbreak for me. Despite somewhat knowing what’s going to happen to the male lead, I decided to watch this (when I am in the mood for it). I am glad tonight is the night. I cried like a baby in the last 20 minutes of this movie.
Surprisingly, this is my first time watching Jasper Liu. He was excellent as K, especially in all the emotional scenes. Took me a little bit to warm up to Cream’s personality but the two of them have great chemistry together. Both orphaned when they were 16 years old, they became each other’s family. Their relationship is so much more than friends or lovers. It’s no wonder they would do everything in their power to make each other happy. Do I agree with their methods? No I don’t, but I can see where they’re coming from. However, bringing an innocent person into their noble idiocy doesn’t seem to be fair.
There’s too much annoying Bonnie in this movie, but maybe she’s part of the Taiwanese comedy charms. I do like cool and sassy Ms Photographer, Cindy. I cried with her during the breakup scene. On the other hand, Mr. Dentist is lacking compared to the other three leads.
I am giving this a high rating because it touched me. The title song “有一種悲傷” (A kind of Sadness) sung by A-Lin and the male version sung by Jasper Liu are both perfect for this movie. This is the second Taiwanese movie that made me cry so much after “Man in Love”. If you enjoy this type of melodrama about an illness, I strongly recommend this movie to you.
Leaving you with a few quotes that perfectly describe the movie:
“If I have a next life, I want to be a ring, a pair of glasses, a bed and a notebook, so that I can always accompany you.”
“The love in their point of view is based on each other’s happiness.”
“If love can be explained, no one in the world will suffer from it.”

They cooked
God tier filmThis is the perfect tragedy.
There's so many scenes that are cinematic and dialogue that’s well written.
It’s a story with solid character development from the majority of the cast
The misunderstandings aren't contrived and feel natural, especially considering the circumstances of the characters. Not only that, when you get to a certain part of the movie, it recontextualises the whole story and you understand a side that unfolds so naturally and makes so much sense. The peak moments of the film are essentially seen from a mirroring or paralleling perspective, revealing the entire story and showing you everything in detail. It's very well written. There are too many brilliant scenes to count. Cinematography peak.
The main characters make sense and have reasons for their actions, and it makes sense because of their traumatic backgrounds. K and Cream's fear of rejection. The script is so fucking peak. The ending wraps up so well too.
The only off parts are maybe when the cat girl is introduced, but its really not so bad. Shes pretty chill throughout the rest of the movie and is actually kinda interesting. Begins as a caricature, ends up as a real one.
Besides that, there's like one scene that looks goofy cuz of the lighting and that’s it.
Everything else works extremely effectively towards the film
Pretty much all the side characters are fairly likeable and feel like humans, flawed but understandable.
Very strong writing and character development
The ost was very effective and great to listen to, besides the cat girls singing.
This is one of the most slept on films I've ever seen.

An unpredictable sort of cliche
They say hindsight is 20/20, and in hindsight I really don’t think this movie offers any new plots or characters. But for once, that didn’t affect my viewing experience at all and I actually didn’t see the story coming, despite a lot being revealed in the first five minutes of the movie. This movie was a tearjerker for sure; I was really surprised at how many emotions I felt even though I wasn’t a huge fan of the female lead in particular and probably wouldn’t agree with some of the decision-making.
There was some explorable opportunities for the second leads, both of which I felt were left behind and kind of just served as plot devices, but other than that, this was a really beautiful friends-to-lovers story and it really tugged at the heartstrings.

What the heeeeck!!! .・゚゚・(/ω\)・゚゚・.
Just from the synopsis, I know that this movie will be a sad movie, but I never thought that it will be this sad! (╥_╥) Well, maybe there will be other watcher who say that this movie quite cheesy, but this movie really touch my heart (╥_╥)
I never imagine that there will be a mother who neglect her sick son, but thank's God K meet Cream and they take care of each other. The early minutes of flash back feels bit boring for me, but it's just for several minutes, and when they start living together, the story start to feel bitter. Many times when I watching this, I'm thinking, "Just please be honest!" And Cream's last action ... it's unforgivable but understandable in my point of view.
Actually, I can say no more without tell the whole story, so please just watch ... and cry (maybe—because I'm crying hard in the end).
BTW, somehow Jasper Liu remind me of Eita, the Japanese actor (^o^)

I am so glad I decided to watch this. Was feeling very sad a couple of nights ago, and watching movies that transcend a similar vibe make me more at peace. First off, I really loved the trailer. However, the story was a lot different than I have imagined. It's your typical tear-jerker chronic illness movie, when we all know that the characters cannot stay true to themselves and go great lengths to make others happy before their death. The main couple was beautiful, even more beautiful was the story and how they sacrificed individually. Kind of makes you believe in soulmates, does it not? The overall aesthetic and the vibe of this movie left me really impressed. Makes me want to explore Taiwanese production more. I would definitely recommend this for people who like melodramas, it is a really nice and simple movie. Was this review helpful to you?

I've listened to 有一种悲伤 by A-Lin (A kind of sorrow) many times before I've watched the actual movie and it has became one of my favorite song of all times. I knew there was tragedy in this movie, and emotions would be swirled, and at the start of this movie I wasn't feeling it because I felt like the plot felt inconsistent or at a weird pace. Towards to the end of the movie, the saying "下辈子“ (next life) hit me so hard and listening to the song doesn't feel the same. I haven't felt so paralyzed by emotions by a movie, and listening to the song, that I don't think I can listen and sing to the songs again. This of course without saying the first time I've cried to a show in a long time. I would rewatch it if only it didn't bring me so much emotion, maybe the next time when I'm ready to cry I'll watch it again Was this review helpful to you?
A sorrowful story for a bound to fail romance
Initially I saw this film thinking nothing of it as just some sweet innocent romance, but as I watched farther the relationship between K and cream could of been nothing but an ordinary innocent romance film. What was this film. The way that I sat there and thought… „the man’s needed to grow some“ yet at the same time was bound to this wonderfully tragic romance. The films placating to the sensation of how we can avoid are problems for the sake of others left me with a thought process this is deep to my core and resonates to actions of my own stupid self. How the romance left between the two mains kept me just completely engulfed in thought of sorrow, and love, and frustration. The story while maybe feeling a bit crammed in the beginning will make you feel like and idiot for not truly understanding what it’s setting up. I would sincerely recommend for crying after a late night or hard loss and will keep for later sorrowful nights in my life. Was this review helpful to you?
