Full trash and waste your time

Worst wuxia I have ever watched. This is really trash , since the theme is revenge at first started. Then it turn everything to anticlimax. So confused for all character, bad leading role male and female char and also everyone. The cool one then turn to unstable, act cool but wasted.
The real end to worth it is that king must dead tragically and that fool queen really have unstable character and so confused this one. I dont know who created this sword dynasty story but he/she must really amateur and hope never wrote wuxia story anymore. Full trash and really waste your time to watch this. ????

Not worth your time. zjust bcz of the ending.

It's not worth your time. Let's start with that.

the actors were great. the issue was how the story kept getting worse. And some point near the end everything was going so fast and I didn't get why things kept happening.

I was really hoping for a happy ending like they wrote in the description but this isn't what I expected.

The ending left me mad and with even more questions that won't be answered.

I heard that they lost a lot of budget mid way and that's why the ending is horrible.

It really had potential but they ruined it :(

Unpleasant ending

I put high expectation from the first episode. I guessed the story will have a roller coaster emotion, but I only found a few moments.
The story line is quite ordinary, but I still can continue watching. I starting got excited at the episode 29!! But dropped down at the last 2 episodes.

Pros:
- The idea when Ding Ning is Liang Jing Meng's heir
- My favorite protagonist side: Ye Ce Leng, and Xie Changsheng
- My favorite antagonist side: Liang Lian and Yuan Zihan

Cons:
- In fact, Ding Ning is Liang Jing Meng himself
- Even the main roles are not portrayed as strong characters
- OST and music scores are not helpful to build the audience's emotions

I don't think I'm gonna re-watch this series in the near future.

Fails to deliver!

The beginning of the drama was very good. But as it progresses, the plot becomes weak, there is no intensity or depth in the scenes written.
Touted to be a revenge drama of the male lead, this drama least focuses on this issue.Initially, all the disciples of Peter Ho,who has been betrayed by the roles of Yao Di and Liu Yi Jun,are shown to take revenge on the emperor and empress of the Heng, but none of them achieve them their goals, instead end up dying.
Even the male protagonist, who has returned as Li Xian, has no character development, neither does anything to take revenge nor does anything that is serious in this drama. His character lacks intensity and is weak too which does not develop till the end.
The role of Li Yitong, does not make any difference to the story. Her character was poorly written.
The only thing I liked is the acting of both the actors,Yao Di and Liu Yi Jun.
As a whole,it is a wasted opportunity which had great potential to become an excellent drama with good actors on board, but instead became a half baked drama which failed to entertain.
It is highly disappointing!!

Amazing production but bad story

This drama shows exactly why Jianghu shouldn't get involved with palace politics, the result is disastrous.
I have to say that the actors and production are amazing, excellent cast, cool fight scenes, very well made drama. Those are the only things that actually kept me going.

The problem I have here is with the story. If you are in the path for vengeance, why going to the capital and getting so famous, especially if you don't have good martial arts yet. I mean, would not be better just stay out of the radar?
Also, at the beginning the ML looked so cunning, but as the drama progress looks like he never was.
Because of the story, the drama is very dragging, so much unnecessary characters and moments.
And don't get me start about the end, it just makes me angry.

Considering my expectations for this drama and the final result, this has to be my most disappointing Chinese drama from last year. I was totally into the hype after the first trailer which presented such a quality in the photography great looking characters and two main actors I really like Li Xian and Li Yi Tong. Sadly the promises turned into the most weirdly twisted plot with useless gibberish and redundant annoying fights until the last part which is just a huge messy turn of events with a terrible finale.

STORY:
It starts like a traditional Kung Fu revenge story with a betrayal, a rising young boy going through stages to help him reach his ultimate goal aided by his aunt. The beginning has many characters intervening in short but blabbering scenes but ok, it is possible to keep track. Then in the middle the fights scenes which looked great in the beginning are less realistic and boring and repetitive using bad CGI. The characters and there is plenty of them lack development as we see the hero climbing levels but not really endangered and he does not show any amazing skills either. It's like a video game where you go to the next level after a fight or reading a book or eating a candy. In the last part with the introduction of new situations, plenty of characters just start to appear or die faster than you say it. There is a lot of plot holes and you leap from a point to another just to make the story advance until the final unveiling of what happened. It gets down to a love triangle and some lunatic woman who felt betrayed. Her ending was ridiculously cheesy and made me burst of laughter. Worst thing is the villain who was the most powerful in the beginning turns into a mouse and then he is even spared because he is the savior of the nation after all. And the other evil guy is saved and can quietly go on vacation because he is the heir. As for our hero, he turns into a mourning hermit. Basically the despicable final is : The good ones must endure and the evil ones must rule.

ACTING:
I thought the actors were good. Li Xian played his character convincingly and the lack of empathy you can have for him does not relate to his bad acting but the poor and unexpected development of his character. Li Yi Tong was good portraying a quiet but supporting female character. She really reminded me of these quiet female heroine in old Kung Fu movies from Hong Kong. The actor portraying the King and the Queen were good. The rest of the cast including the females fighters are interesting and well portrayed but you don't really have time to like them of hate them.

MUSIC:
At some point, I found the music quite annoying and misused in exposition scenes and slow motions. No song to remember here.

REWATCH VALUE: 0
OVERALL : It's really very disappointing. Better save your precious time for something else.

Very similar to Jin Yong's novels with many creative ideas.
But lost it, when there is really no revenge. Almost all the good people get killed but the villains are intact. What is the point in preaching a good value when the bad guys continue to have great life? If a hero needs to give up all time but the bad guys have to rule and enjoy all the fun, then the humanity we want to educate and enlighten for the younger generation is lost.

Credit needs to be given for the author trying to retain many Jin Yong's ideas. Its a mashup of Jin Yong and Xuan Juan Sword and Nirvana in Fire.

If I have to direct this better, I will kill the King and all the wasted Marquis / Generals hanging around as they can't really get the kingdom greater. They have lose morals and these people can't create the right kingdom. I will also not wait for the end of the tv show to kill these people. Also I will showcase what a good guy can do as a King.

A man who is powerful and being supported by people has to take the power because thats what the great kingdom needs. No point in being in sidelines and expecting boring and loose moral people take over power.

This drama scored on the hygiene factors - handsome actors, pretty actresses, nice scenery and lovely costumes. If you are a fan of Deng Lun and Luo Jin, two very popular actors today, you might be motivated to watch this. This drama was produced 7 years ago and perhaps then, it had less competition and a lower standard to compare with. But with the Chinese drama production scene today, the expectation of the audience like myself is much higher.

The story was slow moving. It took 7 episodes for Da Ji to enter the palace. The story was based on a legend that had been featured on an earlier drama by Fan Bing Bing, Ma Jing Tao and Zheng Bin Hui. So the story became somewhat predictable and lacklustre. Fan Bing Bing's depiction of Da Ji was difficult to match - the extreme of her bitchiness as the fox controlled seductress and the kind-hearted original Da Ji was very pronounced.

The plot for the failed rescue of Da Ji was poorly developed. Why the need to bring Yang Jian into the palace to fetch Da Ji - just send her out quietly in the guise of someone else.

Additionally the voice dubbing of Da Ji was strange - it sounded like a reading from a script. I am about two-thirds of my way through. For this far, I had been watching Yang Jian and his disciple sister messed up with their impetuousness and immaturity. I am going to pause and watch something else. If I do get back to complete the drama, I may update my review.
