CLOY is riddled with ridiculous but enjoyable (to some extent annoying) clichés

The chemistry between the leads was oozing like I could watch the whole series just them staring at each other.

The story had a lot of loop holes, but I enjoyed watching every character so I kinda shrugged it off. It's a bit corny at times too. Sometimes I felt like the interaction between the leads were originally written for teenage lovers. The theme was original but the story telling was a little too cliché. They could've reduced the obvious meant for each other trope, they highlight that part too much. There's some lazy writing going on in the later part of the drama. Leads and the rest of characters really carried the show for me.

Acting were great overall. It really adds a punch when all the characters felt like characters and not just actors acting. Although I noticed their North Korean accent weren't all the same.

CLOY is peak kdrama, the feel, the setting, the tropes. It's the epitome of a romcom KDRAMA. You'd find most kdrama tropes in this show that there were times the writers make fun of it themselves.

Love everything about CLOY! Who doesn't, anyway? The plot is unique and will really "hook" you from start to finish. The chemistry of the lead actors (and even the 2nd lead couple) are very evident - they are believable. The ending may have been a bit open-ended (for me), but is more "realistic" than one of them defecting. The entire ensemble is also commendable - while they have their individual "stories" to tell, their group dynamics made the drama more entertaining and put-together that they deserve to win an award as a team.

Great romance K-drama, Highly recommended

I know I'm late to the party but I finally decided to watch this series too. Usually when I watch a hyped drama I'm getting into it with low expectations to not get disappointed, but with this show I stayed away from reviews and comments to not spoil myself and I'm glad I did so. I just finished this, I binged it in 3 days even if my very tight schedule was not allowing me to have too much free time bit I couldn't help myself, and I must say I got hyped quite fast. I highly enjoyed it. This is one of these dramas that I wouldn't mind if it had 10 more episodes to binge on.
It started quite cheesy and with some cringe moments, it had a lot of plot holes, but I have to say that I loved all the bits and moments in it. The cringe ones, the great ones, I cried with it, I laughed with it, overall I can say this is one of the best romantic k-dramas I ever watched. Honestly it should have a higher rating than many others overhyped in MDL have.
All in all I warmly recommend it.

I’ve watched Crash Landing On You in the early summer of 2020. I’m just now getting to write a review of this drama, which I can say is so far my favorite drama I have seen so far as of the time of this review.
Crash Landing On You was a drama that made me feel all kinds of emotions. As I watched the drama, I found myself laughing out loud at one scene and then the next scene bawling my eyes out.

Story 10/10
While I don’t think this drama has the revolutionary storyline that many people anticipated, I felt that it was an original drama. As the viewers, I would follow two main storylines our main couple (Yoon Se Ri & Ri Jung Hyuk) and the second couple (Seo Dan & Goo Seung Jun). Both are very strong and fun to watch. While I enjoyed our main couple’s story more, it felt well written that anyone would enjoy.

Acting 10/10
If the story seems iffy to you, then acting should get you to start watching. This is a solid cast, probably one of the strongest I’ve seen. Everyone does such a great job bringing their role to life, from the most significant roles even to the most minor appearances. Everyone put in their best work for this one. The chemistry between our leads is out of this world, and with the recent news of them becoming a couple, it makes sense why they had such natural chemistry.

Music 10/10
One of my favorite OSTs to date, I still listen to it frequently, and I love every track.

I would definitely recommend this drama to anyone fan of kdramas or Asian dramas in general. I would even say it’s a must-watch just for trying it out!!!

Could not be any more perfect.

This show could NOT be any more perfect! I was obsessed form the first episode I watched. I saw this on my netflix for a while and always skipped past it, but it was on my list. I finally gave it a try and I am soooo happy I did. This show was so heartfelt, romantic, stressful, suspenseful, and enchanting.

THE ACTING/CAST:
Ri Jeong Hyeok/Hyun Bin: He was sooo great at portraying a cold, yet secretly soft hearted soldier who only needed the right person to open him up. The portrayal of RJH was so human and emotional. I really believed him to be someone who swore himself to fulfill his duty and somehow was able to slowly open himself up to taking risks in order to protect the woman he fell in love with. I love the character's writing because 1st Episode RJH vs last episode RJH are night and day. He still holds the traits that matter, but allows himself to put everything on the line for Yoon Se-ri. It was completely believable. And then to find out the Main Characters are married in real life now....makes complete sense. Even during the show, you can truly feel how much Se-ri was LOVED by him. Amazing chemistry.

Yoon Se-ri/Son Ye-Jin: She was so funny and charismatic portraying a picky princess heir - who in her own way found it hard to connect with her relationship partners and family until she "crash lands" into the arms of RJH, a man who is ceaseless in his protection and adoration of her. I love that you can see how much they soften to each other as the series progresses. Because of the writing, 1st episode YSR is different from last episode YSR. At the end, we find that she allows people in, she knows how to cut off those that backstab her and take her for granted. In the show she says she likes to "return the energy" she receives. And this is who she is throughout the show. At every stage, she reflects her treatment to the others she interacts with. She was protected by RHJ? She protects him. Cho Choel Gang attacks her with a gang? She hires thugs as well! I love that she isn't helpless and she's proactive with her love and hate.

Supporting Cast: I absolutely LOVED the four soldiers!! They felt like they were truly friends and in the show, they became YSR's brothers to replace the ones who were terrible to her. Like, I really felt for them and wanted them to do well in life even though it's a tv show. I really cared for them. They were so human and easy to like. Great casting and writing for them as well, as each of them had a distinct personality that was believable!

Cho Cheol Gang: Ugh! I hated him so much! He was just so evil and the actor was fantastic! What happened to him felt so justified and i loved that they didn't try to "arrest" him again, but sought to make his ending final.

Seo Dan/Gu Seong Jun: I felt really bad for Seo Dan because she wasn't a bad girl, she just wanted to be loved. The man she loved didn't want her, and when she opened herself to someone else - GSJ, he died in front of her. My heart breaks for her because she deserved more i think. But I like that she was able to be happy by herself in the end. That was a good choice. I liked GSJ's development, as he went from conning and scamming to helping out the sister of the man he scammed and risking his life for SD. That was good growth.

Ensemble: Everyone was just so good! I have no complaints at all.

WRITING:
Everything was so intentionally written! I loved the STRONG MALE LEAD coupled with a STRONG FEMALE LEAD. They both had strong personalities and were still able to compliment each other without weakening the other. The themes of family and belonging were strong and i believe the adherence to this theme was such a good choice. The stakes were so high and I was honestly worried about the characters! I was worried for their safety throughout and the crying and emotional moments were so pure and real. There were so many LAYERS to their love story that it truly felt like fate was pulling them together. This is hard to make believable but they accomplished this well in the show.

I would watch this over and over just to see how they fall in love and begin to open up to each other. I would love to rewatch the soldiers become family to RJH and YSR. The part where everyone went to Seoul was so funny!

A + show, so very good. no notes, this was a perfect show.

As soon as I ended watching the finale episode, I'll be writing my preview for the series.

Who would have thought that a plot that consist of a lovestory between South and North Koreans would come up in such an amazing drama. The storyline was purely unique since this would be my first time to hear about a drama between two lover from different nations dividing them because of political and military issues. All throughout the series the story was full of surprises, moments such as intense action, drama, comedy, and even cute since between couples are all there. The cast delivers it really well especially for the antagonist once. You know that a drama is really good when the viewers thoughts and perspectives about them makes them hate. The supporting cast like Hyun Bin's troop and the North Korean neighbors also has their own spotlight all throughout the series which makes me happy especially when there are funny moments that are going to happen.

This drama has it all already! From the cast, story, and even its OST. Surely will gonna miss the gang! I don't even know if I should rewatch it because I'm sure that it will bring back the tears especially on the finale episode!! It has a bittersweet ending tbh!! OVERALL 10/10 ONE OF THE BEST KDRAMA EVER!

The romantic comedy classic you should be watching right now!

Before every new episode, I'd always think oh this is it this is the episode where everything goes downhill. This is the episode where it becomes boring and uninteresting but every episode I was proved wrong. IT NEVER HAPPENED!!

Let me just say this isn't the perfect drama okay? The story has a lot of cliches BUT they are done so right you won't even mind them (trust me you won't)

If you're looking for a romantic comedy that makes your heart flutter and evoke your emotions THIS IS IT GO WATCH IT RIGHT NOW DON'T EVEN FINISH THIS REVIEW!!!

But if you're looking for a story with perfect logic and reasoning don't watch it (but let's be real here if that's the case then romantic comedy dramas aren't the right genre for you. You might find what you're looking for in action- thriller dramas)

The characters are 10/10 I was attached to every single one (never happened to me before and I watch a lot of kdramas) and I mean every single one..there is no one that I was like meh about their story or scenes. Every character is well done and very VERY well portrayed. And The CHEMISTRY wow!!! All of them had chemistry with each other and I mean THE WHOLE CAST!!! this is one of the best castings I've ever seen IN MY LIFE not just in kdramas!!

Seri was my favorite. she is an incredible actress and I can't believe I've never seen her before.. also her character isn't like any of the female leads I've seen in kdramas. She's strong, independent, brave, smart, and incredibly funny.

Hyun bin was amazing as always. Strong, loving, caring and the cutest soldier that ever served.

The two second leads are amazing. Both were new to me and both I loved very very much. I loved how the SL story wasn't the typical one in every kdrama. So to avoid spoilers just know that they are amazing. One of the best second leads in all the kdramas I watched.

I'm a person that doesn't like a lot of characters in romantic dramas. I just care about the main leads. Sometimes the second leads too but that's it. I don't like multiple characters with stories of their own. But CLOY changed that completely. Like I mentioned before I ended up attached to everyone. They will make you love them no matter what.

The acting was unbelievable..everyone was made for their role. I don't think I've thought that someone wasn't a really good actor even once from beginning to end. Acting 100/10

The music and osts are really beautiful. I've been listening to them regularly for a month or so they're really beautiful and very fitting.

Of course, I'd watch this again!!! I want to watch all of it again right now!!! And I hate rewatching things! This is how much I love this!!

Cons: some scenes are cliches and a little over the top.

Pros: everything else! Acting, actors, chemistry, pace, characters, comedy, romance and music.

MASTERPIECE

when i say this is a masterpiece i mean it. even my entire family who don’t watch kdramas have rewatched this at least twice.

i originally thought this was going to be about a rich girl who gets into trouble and whatnot but absolutely not. the storyline was amazing, the casting was incredible and it really just blew me away. this kdrama was the first kdrama i ever watched back in 2019 and this is what got me into my obsession.

this kdrama really changed the kdrama industry in such a great way.

might i also say how the main leads being married in real life made this drama 100 times more romantic even though they weren’t together during the making of the drama.

The best Korean drama in the last decade and it lives up to the hype. A well-rounded story with drama, romance, politics, family, friendship, intrigue, mystery, etc. Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin deliver in their respective roles as the upright military officer and the sassy socialite who meet at the North-South Korean border by chance. After being thrown together under unusual circumstances, Ri Jung Hyuk learns to open up while Yoon Se Ri adapts to the provincial life in North Korea. It is their mutual respect for their individual strengths that both leads compromised and even made sacrifices for each other to make their partner happy. This is such a heartwarming drama that even secondary characters are lovable with their own charms, even with their flaws! The characters are multi-dimensional that you can't help feel for some of the characters who are depicted as "bad" but only because they are not "good". This show shot up to be one of my all-time favorites and would be hard to beat.

Waterworks

Cried many times watching this drama. Loved the chemistry between the male lead and the female lead, and even amongst the soldiers. Some scenes were excessively lovey-dovey and borderline cringey but I think the development of the story made up for that, in a sense that it was really quite interesting. The whole family saga seems unnecessary in my opinion, though, hence the 7.5 for story.

What I really loved about this drama was the OSTs. I absolutely love the OSTs and they are extremely memorable. I think they blended in really well with the drama and especially in certain scenes to evoke different types of feelings in the audience. However, rewatch value is low because I don't think you'd experience the same kind of joy/anger/laughter etc. in subsequent watches.

In summary:
What i liked - set, cast, plot, OSTs
What i disliked - family drama

Star of the show: Pyo Chi-su, played by Yang Kyung-won

Rating: 8/10
Watch if you like Hyun Bin and dramatic rom-coms.

~Strong women leads and gentle non-toxic male leads. The chemistry was amazing!
~Perfect blend of romance, comedy and action
~The side characters are also very entertaining including the North Korean soldiers and village Ajhumma gang
~A classic execution of love and kindness wins over hatred and jealousy
~The second half drags away a little, with fillers, separation and lots of melodrama
~Some of the coincidences are too good too be true but again it’s a dreamy rom-com that starts off with a paragliding accident in NK :P
~Bittersweet ending but something is better than nothing after all!

amazingly captivating!!

i LOVE the storyline this kdrama has. it has thrilling, romantic and funny parts and they are evenly balanced! the first ep's are maybe a bit boring, but as it progresses it gets more and more exciting. i literally bingewatched the whole kdrama. i totally get why it's so popular.

p.s.

i find it soooo cute that the main characters actually got married and have a kid now! ♡
that is the best outcome that could have happened. they literally act the same in real life and in crash landing on you. they were meant for these roles.
