If I had one word to describe this cdrama it would be, Flat. I also never fell asleep so many times while watching a cdrama like I did for this one. Holy mackerel.

But I successfully suffered through the series. Full disclosure, I watched SOLELY for Lu Yunxi. That is the only reason why I stuck to the end of this show.
I was not very pleased with his character which was a total bummer. But I have “Love is Sweet” on my “to watch” list for redemption lol.

I knew going in it was not going to be the best show ever, but oh boy, was it so bad! Not the worst I’ve ever seen but it was a runner up.

The FL was meh. I think I’ve finally found a female actor that I wouldn’t want to watch play the lead ever again. I liked her enough when she played supporting roles in “Princess Weiyoung”!and “Ashes of Love”. I found her acting to be similar to all the other characters she’s ever played, which were never very interesting.

And to top it off! the chemistry between the ML and FL was nonexistent.

The ONLY redeeming factor was I loved the OST. I already had it downloaded so I knew the songs and even though I would never watch this drama again, I will forever listen to the opening song.

I wouldn’t recommend this show unless someone was desperate …. Ok maybe not even then …

Boring

This is my lowest rated drama of over 50+ completed C drama series. The only pros for me were the sets and the OST.

I watched this drama because I fell for Lu Yunxi in Ashes of Love, and wanted to see him as ML. Even he, couldn't redeem this drama for me. The chemistry between the ML and FL just didn't work here.

I don't typically FF through dramas but there was so much dialogue, and so little action. I FF through at least 30% of this drama. It was frustrating and boring.

The director or whoever was in charge of approving costuming seemed to think that the drama watching audience wasn't worth the effort of a mask, mustache, or hairstyle change as a disguise.

The FL was terribly written. She was purposefully ignorant, useless, immature, dependent, rash and frustrating! The ML was mostly weak, melancholy, and morose.

Even the storyline seemed all over the place. Like it was just thrown together moments before filming.

Sorry to say a big disappointment here , Nothing new to offer bad acting, bad story and many illogical sequence. Male lead cant do complicated scene, he keeps same expression through out while female is over acting her acting can be seen as forced. Story wise nothing new to offer.
I started watching with lot of expectation and hope. but alas it was waste of time but whole first six month of 2020 not a single good series which I can say can get 9. some had good story but the whole package was not good, This series could have been better but it follows the same road get stretched in the middle

Love Story

I just finished all the 48 episodes on this drama and I loves overall of the drama based on the story. It is true that the drama had many of conversations than action. But on my opinion, their conversations make us more understand what was the drama stories about. Plus, it also had many plots and I found it was interesting drama. I may contain some spoilers but I would like to sharing my review and opinion about the drama. Another interesting part of the drama is when the governments interfere in the wuxia martial arts world. It was some kind of different story than other wuxia dramas. Some of the scene are also touching that will lead you to cry if you understand the story well. Besides, the main lead Luo Yun Xi and Yukee Chen was very good in their characters and have a good chemistry too since they was acted on the other drama before. The most character I really like is Shangguan Tou because he is so gentle and have a flirting face hahaha. I was melting like an ice cream when seeing his eyes and the way he use his fan. Some people might be bored watching this drama because less of actions but it also depends on ourselves to rate it. Every people have different views and opinions. But to me, this drama was not bored but exciting. Recommend to everyone to watch it. So predictable mundane drama

Story: At first I thought this drama will be a steamy romantic drama like Ashes of Love or Ten Miles Peach Blossom. But it turn out to be just a cliche love story added with tasteless politics. In the middle of the series, they seem like losing pace, too much predictable plot that make this drama lost interest. The politics is too shallow which not even touch the palace intrigue at all, and it only shows that in martial art's world only contain with poor thinking people. The love story also half-hearted, although the broken heart scenes are convincing.

Acting: I admit that I have interest in this drama because of the pair of main actors. Leo Luo after being second lead in many dramas, at last had his own lead drama, and this drama had promising romance. However, I turn out disappointed as the character he played was so weak and not smart. But I give credit to his acting because he can bring out the emotion well enough. Yukee Chen in other hand, don't think her role suit her. She will be more suitable for smart, strong and little bit wicked character like the character she played in Ashes of Love. Chong Xue Zhi is not smart, too weak and too emotional character. I can't say her acting was bad, in some scene she did bring out emotion but just don't deep enough.

Music: I love all OST sang by Zhou Shen (Charlie Zhou), so romantic even the movie/drama was not all-out romance.

Overall: I wish they add more politics intrigue to this drama to make it more interesting, or just focus on the romance between main characters instead of making long unnecessary story of like undecided main plot. This drama is wavering between good, evil and grey but eventually not telling anything.

I originally didnt watch it while it aired to give a review of the entire show.

The plot wasn't interesting enough to keep me glued, im a sucker for romance so i watched full episodes until around probably episode 13 when i could predict what was coming next. What i didn't see coming was the villian, how he developed into the monster wasn't really explained but just kind of dropped on you.

by episode 15, i started skimming through because it didn't keep my attention for long plus i saw the familiar red alerts and read through the story till i could activitly predict what came next. Personally they fell in love a bit to fast, maybe because of the whole year went by in one episode.

Personally for me , it lacked that special spice, I wanted to love this and for the most part i did, the female lead character annoyed the hell out of me sometimes for the decisions she made as it wasn't realistic and though through. like as all you've been through you find out he messed up early in life and you hold that against him but yet agree with the fact that people change is hypocritical.

I thought i would hate the male lead but not really he wasn't as his reputation said which surprised me when she preaching her love for him but didn't understand him, The second female lead actually impressed me she wasnt the annoying type but coming to the end realistic enough to be okay your not who i thought you were.

Im not saying don't watch it, im saying you might skip through the episodes because of it being repetitive on him saving her.

A mediocre watch

I'm writing this after watching this drama a second time. It's really not bad but I say that I first watched this when I was 15 and now I'm 17 so my review is different compared to 15 year old me.

Pros:
- love the cast
- amazing visuals
- the opening is just gorg
- the story line is pretty thought out

Cons:
- a rushed ending
- main characters barley had development
- not much action, more of a talking drama

As you watch, you realize that there is no character development and its the same situation of the male lead saving the female lead. I would say that this is an extremely cliché drama.

Story/Plotline
I really have high expectations for this drama as this drama have Leo Yunxi, Yukee, and Tingwei (i love them in AOL). Before start discussing about acting, first the story! The idea was there, the first early ep really excites me to watched and i really want to know what will happen after but when you reached at the middle, the story become dragging and a bit boring. There are no excitement even in their love story. Maybe bcos of the directing or the writer do not have fresh idea on how to make the story more exciting. I dont know how many time that Xhuezi save Tou or Tou save Xhuezi cuz it just repeating until the end. Even at the end of the drama, Tou decided to lie to her after all life death experience. Like wth bro! And the story is mainly about their love and martial arts world againts Lord Lu. The flow of story is clear and good. Maybe i expect more about the storyline that i felt a bit exhausted with the drama.

Acting/Actor
Leo Yunxi did great in this drama. I think he is the one who carried out the drama. I love his acting, his flirts, his tears, his smile and his action. He really show he work hard on these. He is damn beautiful. Because of him, i stay put till the end (im always prefer strong storyline). Yukee Chan is good but i think she need to practise hard. I love her crying scene (my heart breaks when she threat Tou to jump off the cliff and when Muyuan dead). But her martial arts skill really lacking as she supposed to be the strongest among all. Her expression in some scene too. When Yunxi and Yukee did their romantic scene, she so awkward. And through out the story, her character seems weak. I wish her character is firm. I think she can do better. Tingwei, our Muyuan gege, he is good. He know what he want to potrayed. He firm with his acting. I love him and Yunxi whenever they at same scene. The heart talk at last ep, they both really respected each other. I wish he not died. Whyyy?????? In AOL, he died too. Huuuu. The villain is good but too cute. Lord Lu really play a big part. But i wish he is more evil.

Ost/Music background
For me, all the osts are super nice. They have a very good song and they used the ost well in the drama. But, i do have some problem with the background music in some scenes. I know they put music to make the scene more lively or whatnot but they do exaggerated it.

Cg/Costumes
Moon Valley is hella beautiful! Winehouse Fairyland too! Other place looks dull but its okay. Accepted. The cgi on fighting scene also pretty decent. Their costumes are repeated through out the drama, its okay, it nice too watch but i wish they have more costumes.

Overall, the drama is good. Story is a bit dull but still worth to watch. The romantic scene is good. The cheesy line is my favorite. The fighting scene is well conducted. The ending is great. Happily ever after.

Unbearable even for leo Luo's fans !!

I skimmed through this drama despite Leo Luo, who I really like, because the storyline is so poorly written that it's frustrating to watch.

Watched 1 to 4, but totally messy story, difficult to bear. Skipped around 8, then 15. Romance, then break-up "to protect you", then 2gether ds ep. 33. Then supposedly death of the ML, amnesia, etc.

PROS:
+Leo Luo
+ some good support actors

CONS:
- Everything else ლ(ಠ益ಠლ: FL not credible and unconvincing, exaggerated villain, poorly executed twists, poorly executed direction, etc.

=> don't waste your time about it!!
