Storyline

Okay, let's get straight to the point.
The female lead character was annoying. She had no trust in the male lead. She expected him to be understanding, without understanding his situations.
Same repetitive blame games, like why marry if you don't completely trust the guy. It became annoying to watch and sit through......poor ML.
As for the 2nd ML, it seemed he was just waiting for the slightest opportunity to reveal his evil intentions. His reasons for his actions were just not justifiable and I skipped through most of his scenes.

Excellent chemistry, good looking casts, with poor storyline

All casts showed excellent chemistry between one another. Those good looking casts are worthy the screen time. I think the writer wants to put heavy story line, but to be honest, it turned out sometimes as cringy as ever.

I like females here portraits having talents and valuable traits as a talented jewellery maker, designer, poets, or martial arts. That a big plus one. Because FL in drama rarely has good brain let alone important traits. The males has mostly martial arts and literacy capabilities. The soundtracks are nice, easy listening, and greatly composed for the motions.
But this values ended here.

It's like the story surrounded with almost everyone making seriously stupid decision, like stupid. No joke here.

Like The Emperor constantly putting death row upon his own son (Xu Jin) but unbelievably forgiving upon criminals. Fu Rong that constantly accusing Xu Jin for making mistake that he didn't commit. Duke An that sworn revenge without any fundamental prove. Princess Xihe that making herself so annoying the whole entire movie. Ding Peng that full of rage towards Fu Rong with no sensible reason. Xu Jin that constantly love blindly and has to risk his life for Fu Rong without appreciaton or repraisal from Fu Rong. The latter will make you grit your teeth for sure. And so on...
The ending maybe confusing for some new-to-chinese-drama audiences. Because it wasn't clear enough whether FL survived or not.

In the end, mostly this drama worth your time. It is quite enjoyable but within episodes perhaps making you jaw drop or you could even hate the FL for being a real b*tch.

Slow boring story with beautiful cast

I came to watch this after legend of Yun Xie
unfortunately the story is so week here
the actors were amazing and good looking especially the villain but he lacked acting skills
the second lead who is the villain and the one fights for the FL doesn't have but one expression throughout the whole drama
Fu Rong the female lead here is a wild girl who can't be tamed even by love ,, she does every stupid thing and get her family and loved one in troubles every single episode ,, it's really tiring ,, sometimes i feel she is so stupid and doesn't deserve the love she gets from every one
she doesn't listen to anyone or even care about anyone's safety
she didn't act guilty of her own mistakes ever
I really came to watch this drama for the actress because she did a great job in two dramas before this but the story ruined her character
made her pratty and selfish
Zhang Zhe han's acting skills improved a lot from Yunxie drama and he's a lot responsive here to every emotion but his character lacked a lot than Yunxie
the first half of the drama was good but it dragged a lot boring episodes to the end

And the other cast is so great. And I love this The Bloom at Ruyi Pavillion also coz the cast on Legend of Yun Xi is also cast in this new drama. What a reunion. Love them all...

Typical historical idol drama

The story and editing is all over the place. Too much brain dead trope/ plot.

Acting:
- Wang youshuo(wubaiqi) is the one that did a good job.
- Ju jingyi: Feel the same as before. kidnapping scene r not her fault tho. With how long she's been in industry and many dramas she's in, people expect a lot, but her improvement not so prominent.
-Zzh: So so. And just bcs he did good job at acting competition, doesn't mean he's good actor or always deliver his role. The way his fans putting down jjy acting is funny to me
-Kiki: her temprament is good, has potential to improve. Sometimes her eyes is like unsure with her acting. Overall still ok for newbie. Need to see other works to know for sure

Music: All the ost are good

If the cast is not your favorite, it's better to not watch

I didn't know the cast besides Ju Jingyi (who I love), but the acting was pretty good from all of them. I liked the songs too.

But the story was kinda of mess. The comment section is REALLY exagerated tho. The FL is not as bad as they made me think, but it's true that she doesn't have a character development, she behaves like a 15 year old all the time, but by the last episodes you can see that she's a bit more mature.

The editing really gets weird by the end, you can see they rushed a few scenes. The villain is great, but seems like his primer motivator of vengence gets lost by the end, and he changes to a psycho unracional villain for no reason. Not to mention continuity and logic error in some parts of the story.

But for the positive side, I liked that the conflicts were quicly resolved and I love the chemistry between the main and the second couple.

It was a regular drama. I'm not sure I'd watch all 40 episodes again, but I kinda liked it. I laughed so hard at some special effects I cried.

A silly FL with no direction

This story started out okay, but somewhere along the line the tried to make the FL seem smart but she was just very dull and stupid half of the time. You would get frustrated and angry with her character stubborn even in stupidity. It was an eyesore. Kudos to the ML and the SML that who was a villain worth watching.
The secondary characters in between gave me what i was looking for in terms of smartness, lovesickness and ability to adapt. I would have preferred the FL's sister as main lead, she had composed, smartness and what have you in the right amount . she and her lover were worth watching.

emotional whiplash with some payoff; lesson: miscommunication will be the death of you.

I came after watching the main couple in Legend of Yunxi and I can say with complete confidence that they are much sweeter and cuter in this drama. This story in general is not as politically intense as Yunxi, but that's good for folks who aren't very interested in the politics.

It's funny that I learned that this drama script and production took a long time to get going because it makes a lot of sense now that I've seen the whole drama. You can tell that the drama is in three distinct parts--I assume from a bunch of rewrites and changes. It wasn't really finalized until 2019, which makes me even curious if they imitated some scenes from the popular drama Goodbye My Princess (aired in 2019) as there are a couple similarities lol but I don't mind. Also, I assume that, because of all the troubles this show went through, there's also strange editings especially for the main couple. Sometimes, it feels like their scenes got cut short. I assume we'll never know truly what happened with this.

This drama can be split into three parts:
1) the first third was establishing the foundation for conflicts later on and groundwork for relationships, especially for the main couple and second couple. The main couple, strangely, doesn't get much screentime together during this part although they do meet many times. This part was the more romantic comedy sense and was a lot more lighthearted and simple. Unfortunately, this is the only time where the "power" of the dreams really come into play. It appears later, but not much.

2) A bit more angsty and drama driven but finally more screentime with the main couple and deeper development into their relationship. The political/serious plot during this time is kept to a minimum, honestly, as I think there was a time where the antagonist barely showed up at all for several episodes lol. So this was the part with more development of relationships like the second couple as well. There were some angsty and emotional moments that were very good and well done.

3) The final third part of the drama came back to the political/serious plot, but definitely felt a bit chaotically put together, seemingly as if the writers fell back on old tricks/illogical moves just to create emotional tragic scenes and move the plot along. Ex: more misunderstandings that made me rolled my eyes and strange plot turns that, by the last 5 episodes, I was just like "Okay, this might as well happen."

Overall, although the story kind of spluttered out by the end, this drama delivered on what was expected of it. This drama, I believe, understood its audience and what they wanted: cute and sweet moments with the main couple (and even with the second couple); tragic and sad emotional scenes to enhance our feelings for the show and characters (no matter how illogical we got to those points); pretty faces and pretty scenes.

This drama wasn't completely a romantic comedy but wasn't solely a political drama. It's a fun mix between, which was good, although I think the drama spluttered toward the end because they wrote themselves into situations that they didn't know how to get out of and so took easy solutions out.

In the end, this is a drama to enjoy for the pretty faces, the main (and secondary) couple, and their sweet and angst scenes. I didn't get too invested in the political/serious plot once it became too ridiculous and instead just enjoyed the emotional ride, the highs and lows, of the main couple--because seriously, this couple can be so sweet but then also frustrate me so much that I had a lot of emotional whiplash--from feeling teary and so sad for them in one episode to the next episode being so glad and happy for them. I still love them very much but I think the writers utilized the 'misunderstanding' trope a little too much toward the end that it was more frustrating than sad. Fortunately for this show, the sheer couple power of Zhang Zhehan and Ju Jingyi took me to the finish line.

I think that's the bottom line. If you're here for zhehan and jingyi, you'll enjoy many parts of this drama and finish it for its happy ending. You'll get pluses, like the cute secondary couple. If you're here seeking a strong and logical political plot alongside the romance...this is not the drama for that.

It’s Not Legend of Yun Xi!

First, I watched the Legend of Yun Xi within the last 2 months and at the start of the first episode I thought that I had selected Yun Xi by mistake. I didn’t, it wasn’t and I knew before the end of the episode. I also knew that I needed to settle in, pay attention, and enjoy what was coming.

The actors that were also in Yun Xi had very different characters in Ruyi Pavilion which were play so well I had no problems with confusing their parts. Ju Jing Yi’s and Zheng Zhe Han’s characters were wonderfully played with a depth they had not achieved in Yun Xi. Kudos to them. Additionally, the supporting cast came together to present a cohesive meld of characters that enjoyable and emotional.

I loved the story line and I am horrible at reviews. I do recommend that those who like playful romance, historical back drop, a mystry, drama, laughter and sadness ; take the time to watch this.

Beautifully period drama

Great directing, very good cinematography and wonderful casting of male and female actors all round. The great chemistry between main leads Ju JingYi and Zhang ZheHan in the drama is undeniable! Good dialog script with comic content and well acted.
Compared to other period dramas this production exhibits beautiful and subtle colour schemes in the clothes and settings - one of the best seen. Beautiful accessories matching the costume designs are highly rated!
Highly recommend for its alluring setting and colours, pleasing story and good acting and directing.

Second couple better than the main!

I found a clip of this drama from my YouTube recommendations and finally had a chance to watch the whole drama! I was straight away hooked on this drama and finished it in a few days. The beginning interested me, it was really good but around episode 30s I got kinda bored not gonna lie. The FL got on my nerve sometimes and i find her hypocritical, but overall she was okay. I just wished the FL and ML could just communicate instead of having misunderstanding, it was so repetitive and old.

The second couple was so much better in my opinion, I LOVE THEM SO MUCH! They were both so cute omg and I just love every single of their interaction. I have watched clips of them on YouTube countless times just because it’s so sweet omgggg. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. The actor for Wu Baiqi is honestly so handsome and he is so adorable <333 I love how he’s also there for Fu Xuan and their relationship is just the best. To be honest the only reason why I even forced myself to watch on is because of them <333 I’ve become a fan for Wang You Shuo and Kiki Xu because of this now! And I really hope that one day they can reunite as main leads!!

It was mid

I loved the first half of the drama but towards the second half of the drama it was unbearably frustrating. The female lead has so much trust issues with him when he literally risked his life more than 10 times to save her and she repays him by a thanks and suspecting him like a million times?

But there were a lot of things that I was still questioning and I wished the ending was better. Like the ending was not satisfying. The writers really didn’t know what they were doing with this drama. In the beginning of the drama the female lead was so great but immature, but later on she became more mature but had trust issues with only her husband.

Anyways I only watched this cus legend of yunxi was also frustrating to watch so I dropped it and decided to see how this drama is so yeah :)
