Hilarious and funny romcom, worth watching
This drama was so funny and enjoyable to watch and I really recommend it. It had an amazing and interesting plots, with a few unexpected plot twists. I really like both the female lead and male lead, their chemistry was very good.I laughted every time she summoned the writers (?) and used fruits as examples, banana, apple and orange lol. I really hated the sister, she was so evil and greedy. The main leads mother, kind of referred to Hua Mulan also which I think is very creative and interesting. I was actually shocked when I she told Qian Qian her last name. The ending was so sad, I dont't mean when they meet each other in the real world, but when she was going to be the queen.
I'm actually very excited to watch season 2 and I really hope that it will have the same main leads, Zhao Lusi and Ryan Ding. It was my first time seeing Ryan Ding in a drama but I think that he is a very good actor and I hope that they get to be leads in an another cdrama.

Best historical drama of 2020
I did wanted to watch this because of the main female lead but now it turn to both of the leads male and female. while watching intense love I fell in love with Ryan. His cute and handsome smile just melted me away. I just had to write a review for this I even did the same thing for intense love. I usually don't write review if a drama was not a good one but this one is a boom one. I love this until the end, even if I did skip some part , I love it it's just the anticipation with all the scary things. I love this drama, I think this one is may be one of the best histrionic drama ( well kinda of because of the of it's taken place in that time ) in 2020. I love ding yuxi ( meaning Ryan i like his Chinese name better than English name ) I hear that he going to be on chuang 2020. I change all of my screen like home and lock screen to him. My home screen was song wei long. I think after watching like the first episode of the beautiful flower runis his face because he looked more ugly or like darker two years ago but now in 2020 he like had a big glow up. ding yuxi is my number one fav actor in 2020. Song wei long lasted for about six months and let's see how long can he stay my favorites. I mean song wei long is going to come with a drama again so let's see.Now let's talk about the story. I did like the story how everything play out only talking about episode 1-20. I love the female lead and the male lead( the two main leads. ) If a show that has me watching their behind the sense and also like their interview than that mean I love it. Even I did skip a lot but I still I would like review moments of it. I love it so so much. The thing about this drama is so so different from intense love because in that drama ding Yuxi was like emotionless ( well kinda from the beginning ) I was kinda like used to that but in this one like he is a cute and fluffy happy kid. and also he play a young person like 19 and intense love he like a 28 year old man. I have to said I like the this drama more that the intense love it's just the set up like the rose and tiger is more happy and cute but in the intense love it more kinda mature and cute but the rose is better. I prefer ding in this drama more. There is some hate and love about this drama like the relationship the breaking up and that getting back together. I did not like the second female lead because of his role it kinda made me hate her more because of the put your head on my shoulder was the third female lead and she was like the love triangle in that main relationship too so yeah ( kinda confusing ) I love the ost in this drama. I even started learning it that how much I love this drama. I feel like I don't want to finish it because then I feel so empty inside so I really don't want to watch the last two episode I feel so so empty and sad then I have to find another drama.
This is the first drama that made me learn what CP is and also looking at all the behind scenes in this drama.
This new actor ding yuxi got me google him up and also looking at weibo ( I never or usually don't use weibo but this drama and character and leads really got me using weibo. Overall this drama is 10 out of 10 I do like this more than the intense love grown up but this one is cute and so funny ( I laugh a lot of times )

Great drama!
At first, I was hesitant on watching this drama based on the plot, however, it was actually a pretty good drama! I really like the chemistry between the main couple. They had like this love/hate relationship at first, however, it of course led to love. The main guy at first had intended on killing her in order to help cure his heart disease, but over time, he began to care for her which made him hesitate on killing her. His heart eventually healed with help from the main girl. I really love how she tried to protect him as much as possible. Even willing to give up her position as a princess just to be with him is a big sacrifice.The love triangles definitely frustrated me since it led to a lot of misunderstandings between the main couple. Like, she obviously loves you how could u not see that!! The male lead's change of character did frustrate me as well because of all the misunderstandings. He intended to try and kill the female lead again, but because of his love for her, he couldn't do it which makes it interesting. The female antagonist really frustrated me as well but it was good because her desire to be queen really made the story interesting as she went to very shady extents to get that position.
However, there were a few things of the drama that threw me off too. Towards the end of the drama, the female lead faked her death in order to be live happily ever after with the main guy and let her sister (female antagonist) take the throne. I honestly thought that part was a bit weird and unnecessary but I guess they put that to make the story interesting.
I was worried how the ending would be since I am pretty sure that she will be back in the real world. So I wasn't sure if the main couple will be together in the end. However, they did have a happy ending as they reunited in the real world.
Overall, I really loved the drama despite the parts that threw me off. Would definitely recommend!

Cute, Funny and Super Romantic
Story Review:The story was pleasantly and unexpectedly funny and very cute. Although it's very trope-heavy, it worked because the cast did such a good job in all their roles! The thing I appreciated most about this drama's story is how it points out and makes fun of all the things wrong with script writers / dramas these days. It was so cleverly done, you would miss it if you're not paying close attention. After entering her script, she comes to realize that the things that make a story good is the natural progression of events that leads to the development of feelings in a relationship, that things have to happen organically and cannot be forced by flawed 'just-because' logic.
Acting/Cast Review:
I think the reason why this drama did so well is not because of the story, but because of the cast and acting. I believe that at some point, the ML actually fell for the FML in real life or he's just that good at acting! You believe and buy into their relationship. The two male servants were among my favorites because they were so funny, they are like living and breathing live commentary, who always points out the elephant in the room. That was refreshingly fun! Each character had their story and struggles and were multidimensional, so even the "evil" or "bad" guys didn't make your blood boil and isn't just evil for the sake of being evil (huge problem in dramaland these days).
Music Review:
I don't think I can review the OST objectively because I can't determine if the music is actually worthy of praise or if I like it so much because I like the drama and the events that those particular songs remind me of. Which again, just points out how good the acting is!
Rewatch Value:
After completing the drama, I have definitely scanned through it a couple of times again because lets be honest, those moments were just so cute, so romantic and not to mention so funny, it's hard not to want to relive it over and over again.
Overall Review:
For a low budget web drama, it was totally worth the watch! For everything it lacked, it made up for it in the cast and in the acting. It isn't something to take seriously, but will definitely make a lasting impression!

Request that we Want the same cast for season 2
We want the same cast for season 2 as well , we love their chemistry onscreen as well as offscreen, love to watch them together. Zhao lusi and ryan ding?.Its a request to you to cast the zhao lusi and ryan ding in season 2 as well ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. We love both of them.so much . And storyline of first season is very good . I prefer to watch season 1 to all the viewers its so good that you can fall in love with the story

What to say here
I rated this an 8 because it takes a lot of plot focus to get me to rewatch anything. However, I love the concept of the female lead getting pulled into her own script via a dream and having to deal with the world she had created. There were many points made in this drama about the power dynamics between males and females.Let's get into it:
The female lead did a wonderful job, I loved her here better than in Love Better Than Immortality. which shows growth from this actress. She was quirky in the right moments and she did not fall in love instantly, which is a huge plus for me.
The male lead: I have never seen him in anything else before, but he does a good job as well...he could be stiff on some parts but his romantic scenes are adorable. I would like to see him again in a future project.
The cast was complimentary to the leads and no one outshines over the other...I love a well-balanced cast where everyone has their unique talents highlighted.
There was one pair in this that I absolutely adored and wished had more scenes and that was the 1st princess and SuMu...we need more inter-able romances.

ROMANTIC, FUNNY, THRILLING.
My 1st Chinese historical drama and enjoyed it a lot.Matriarchal society(where women are dominating) it put in a very cute way mainly in the last episodes when heroine goes to hero's kingdom it was so funny.
The acting of all the actors was great. The whole story was cute and funny.
Romance between the couple was greatly shown. Jealousy for each other was acted very well.
I liked the bond between mother and daughter. Though she is queen gave importance to daughters feelings rather than doing it for society or power. Their act before and behind people was cute.
Heroine mischievous act and her conversation with 3 other friends(story writers) was funny.
Coming to the story its states about female dominated society the society was not focused much but inside the palace it was shown clearly.
totally its a to watch drama if you are looking for romantic and comedy genre.

Light-hearted Romance Comedy
I was not expecting much when I started this drama. It turns out much funnier and cuter than expected. The whole plot of 1 city has men are the gender in power, while another city has women the gender in power makes it a fresh and interesting plot too. I particularly like how each character has their own loyal servant by their side that serve them so faithfully and wholeheartedly. This drama will not invoke intense emotions like anger and sadness (a blessing to me, especially with costume/historical dramas), it is a light-hearted drama, so you can watch with ease. Another highlight is that the male lead is a total faithful man that is very affectionate and doting, very doting and loving! I love it!Was this review helpful to you?
a FRESH drama
i think this one's story is quite different from the other light-hearted historical dramas. the story is set in an ancient town in which women are valued higher than men (a very contrary ideology compared to the classic one in Asia) and every family would die to have a daughter rather than a son. but the male lead, who comes from the neighbor town which has the exact opposite ideology, comes to the female lead's town to find his illness cure, they fall in love with each other in an unexpected and hilarious way.overall, i would say it is a comedy so pls do not expect too serious or logical plot scenes. the chemistry between the male and female lead is on top, which fuels the attractiveness of the drama!

Hillarious and super sweet! Must watch
I found this series by chance on weTv and straight away hooked! The FL is so cute and i love her acting,but the ML also started to grow on me, not only his acting but he became more handsome as the episode goes on!
Soooo entertaining to watch!
Both the male lead and female lead are so good and so cute with each other. The actings were good as well.
I found myself laughing non stop and were rooting and enjoying their romance.
The plot is very good as well. I would so recommend this series :) will definetely re-watch!!

Best Script/Story among Zhao Lusi's Rom-com period ramas but not the best chemistry
I just finished TROTAR after 3 sitting. After watching almost all of Zhao Lusi's period rom-coms (Cinderella Chef, Oh My Emperor, Prodigy Healer, Love Better than Immortality, and TROTAR), I must say that what makes this drama so special is the great script. We must give credit where it is due - writer 南镇 / Nan Zhen (who also wrote the script for another nice time-traveling rom-com Unexpected 2018) really has a knack for writing stories that don't have repetitive plot devices and competent FL & ML. If I were to rate Zhao Lusi's drama based on Female Lead likability, Male Lead likability, Chemistry, and Script:Zhao Lusi's Female Lead competence and overall likability:
Oh My Emperor (Fei fei) > TROTAR (QianQian) > Love Better than Immortality (Chun Hua) > Prodigy Healer (Yun Shang) > Cinderella Chef (Yiyi)
** Fei fei is the most purpose driven heroine (saving a whole world not only a city) while Yiyi is the most useless, sad courtesan/entertainer
Male Lead competence and overall charisma:
Love Better than Immortality (Qiu Yue Gege) > TROTAR (Han Shuo) > Oh My Emperor (Tang yi) > Prodigy Healer (Xing Chen) > Cinderella Chef (Chun Yu)
***Qiu Yue is the most enigmatic male lead of any of Zhao Lusi's period character. They tried to create a connection with Chun Yu but it was so bland

this drama kept me smiling and feeling giddy !! whenever the leads have their sweet scenes i would have to stop, squeal, and replay the scenes again and again because EVERYTHING about the scenes are perfect !!!! THE SHOTS, THE ACTING, THE CHEMISTRY??? ALL IM IN LOVE. Zhao Lusi and Ding Yuxi really portrayed their characters so well !! all of their lil actions and facial expressions won me over,, truly the cutest pair.
but
i also got frustrated with the female lead aka QianQian.. istg the writer really had to make her dumb at such crucial times..i really pitied HanShuo especially with his lil puppy eyes, his EYES i tell you,,i would die if he looks at me like that.
i also loved the comedy, all of the casts were very entertaining especially QianQian's bodyguards??? HHH i love them so much especially Zi Rui, hes literally the funniest dude,,bless his character for giving me less stress. FL's sister gave me much stress though, the more i watched, the harder i swore at her lmao, i have no regrets !
the drama was surprisingly very fast-paced which made me scared at the same time because i didnt know what the future held HHHH,, and music wise??? PERFECT! the music here gave me so much butterflies??it made me wish i was in the same era as them shshsh, it made me happy it was so fitting whenever they had romantic moments !
the ending was a little rushed though :(( i wish it ended up a lil different but i guess its okay since i heard theres gonna be s2?
if i were to ever rewatch it though, i would only watch the sweet scenes and skip the parts where FL annoys me. this was my first drama from both leads, and i became both of their fans now ;) love their acting sm<3! im actually a sucker for rom com, and from enemies to lovers kind of story. so this was really my style hehe, so i highly recommend it !!
