A High Five to My Face

If I could rate the drama just from the first 5 to 6 episodes, it's already a 10/10 from me. But as the episodes progressed until the last, I immediately lowered my rating to a 6.5/10 and I felt that I rated higher than average and gave some bonus marks to it because of how much I LOVED it from the start. What a bummer...

What went wrong with this series?

First of all, the chemistry between Sarawat and Tine went downhill. Their chemistry was on fire from the first episode itself and I was craving for more. I'm not gonna say it's BAD because it wasn't for me. The chemistry was still there. It's just the script that was badly written in the last 2-3 episodes that ruined them. Sarawatine's chemistry suddenly lost its spark and the fake dating looked more real than real dating. It annoyed the hell out of me. I didn't need them to have sex, kiss, hug, or even hold hands. I just needed to feel something. Sadly, it was not as great as before. Love can be shown without skinship, I had seen it in censored romance shows. It's just that I didn't feel it as much that much anymore. This could have been the BL of 2020 for me but no.

Also, I wanna rant about this. The last 3 episodes were a big joke, especially the last episode which was an hour-long episode. Just because the show could extend the time for one episode for the fans to watch didn't mean that it's gonna be a good one. I rather take a shorter episode with a well-written script than one long episode with a lazy one. I watched it on TV just get high fived on my face. The worst part was the high five was just ONE OF THE REASONS I got mad at. Yes, there's more. The last episode was filled with 80% flashback and 20% bullcrap. Not to mention that there was no logic that Tine suddenly forgave Sarawat in the end especially how much he cried in the previous episode. There was no proper resolution to the conflict that happened and it was rushed.

Would I rewatch the show again? Probably those cute compilations of them in the first few episodes. As a whole? I'll pass. Although I do wanna talk Sarawatine for making my quarantine time 2020 better back in my university dorm there. For those who wanna watch the show, just pretend the last few episodes don't exist and you're good to go.

I honestly loved this show so much. It holds a special place in my heart. With all of the other BL series I have watched, this one has been my #1. It just really makes you feel so much love. This story has made me want a love story like that. I want someone to love me so tenderly like Sarawat was with Tine. Such a beautiful story. I highly recommend it.

As far as the ending, I do wish there was a kiss instead of a high five with the two lol. It would have been so much more romantic if Sarawat had kissed Tine in front of the crowd. There could have been a little more romance from the two, but I won't complain, it was still lovely what was shown.

I hope we see another season or 2 in the future. I want to see all the other couples' stories as well. They deserve some screen time. I hope we see more of Sarawatine, love them to death.

In all honesty, it is never my interest to watch these shows but when I saw it (take note this was my first series to watch), I immediately changed my mind. I saw 2Gether The Series on a series of posts from friends on my FB account and was curious who the actor is. Then, when I watched the first episode, it got my attention almost abruptly. Till then, I finished watching all of 5 episodes in a single night and then watched the recent episode last Friday. I was then an avid follower of this series since the story showed the intense meaning of how an admiration turned into love, and is portrayed by such actors of their caliber. It showed how communities, and most of all citizens of all social classes, that love is simply in all of its forms may it be M2F, M2M or F2F. There were no prejudice and discriminatory act showed here. The humor of the main acts deeply gains the overall attention of the viewers, as a good example of myself. I am hoping that the series will not disappoint us until the end. I will surely wait till the end of the story of Sarawat and Tine, Phukong and Mil, and Man and Type. Love from the Philippines. #TeamSarawatWives #SarawatTine #2GetherTheSeries

Overrated

I watched this on 2020 then dropped it when it was near the end. To be honest, the reason why I watched this was because of Bright. He wasn't a big star then, his IG followers was just around 100k when I discovered him on Pinterest.

The first half was entertaining; neither good nor bad. It was fluffy and funny. Win was cute, his acting was okay. On the other hand, Bright didn't do it for me. I really tried to finish the series but I just couldn't take it anymore lol. I've seen a lot of comments saying that Bright has acted before 2gether and that his acting was good but in this drama, it was awkward and... bad. It's like he's a newbie. I think this was Win's first drama, am I right? He was good for a newbie.

I think the reason why I started to dislike this was because of Bright's acting and it gets boring. 2gether was not different from other dramas. It's not really special. I think that it's just a hit because of Bright and Win's visuals.

The music of scrubb was great. I liked it when I was watching the drama but now I don't even remember what the OSTs were.

Overall, I think it's an overrated and overhyped drama. It's not a "masterpiece" as everyone claims. There's really nothing new. If I had reviewed this during its airing, maybe I would've rated this a 9 or even a 10 but since I have watched several BLs, I can really say this wasn't as amazing as they say. I genuinely believe "I Told Sunset About You" is what I can say is a masterpiece. It deserves so much more recognition; not just the actors but the director and the entire production team. The director, I think it's Boss, was amazing. Watch the documentary of thecbehind-the-scenes of ITSAY.

Mediocre at its best

April 13, 2021

I might be biased since I already saw the rating for 2gether series but I felt that it was very underwhelming. Even Sarawat and Tine’s chemistry can’t save the show. I actually didn’t mind that they didn’t have touchy scenes. I feel like that their gazes to each other was good enough. Or how they act when they feel jealous.
I can safely say that I was convinced that they like each other.

But the series lost its magic. I used to feel the emotion that the actors delivered in the first half. Now, second half till end just feels empty. I don’t know what to say. I don’t know if I am being too critical but I was really underwhelmed with the delivery and execution. I guess the directors and producers are to blame?? Anyway see you in my review for season 2. Ill be there ASAP!!

There is no possibility for me to critically review this show. It knocked me over, stole my heart and ran away. Brain was firmly off and heart fully on sleeve the whole time I watched it. What is writing or plot or pacing or directing when there is Brightwin making mooneyes at each other?

Ok the important stuff: this is a College-Fake-Dating-Enemies-to-Lovers-Idiots-in-Love BL drama. It is a cute and fluffy romcom with low-stakes conflict and tons of heart. You will probably roll your eyes at The Dumb. You will swoon at all the romantic little bits. You will bash your head over idiot bois being idiots. All in all, if this is what you’re into, you’re going to have a great time.

Both leads are spectacular and swoony in their roles and have, hands-down, the best chemistry of any pair I’ve seen all year - and maybe in the last couple of years. I loved how mostly-supportive each boy’s friend-group was. I loved all the various characters and relationship. And mostly I loved that it was such a hit The Powers That Be came back for round 2 and gave us Still2Gether so we could get 5 more episodes of gross romance and fluff.

Emotions Beat Story

This is my 1st BL Drama, and 1st Thai Drama, but I’ve been reading BL for 8 years.
I can’t recall what lead me to try watching BL Dramas but I’m glad I did, and I’m surprised that despite the overall average review being on the high end that the most helpful reviews have such a low score.

I loved watching this show and adored the chemistry between the leads.

It’s not a perfect show so let me get the nitpicks out first.
The most annoying thing was probably the product placement. I can’t hate it because a production needs funding somehow, but it was always an eyeroll moment for me that broke the trance that the story and characters put me in. It didn’t help that where I watched the show had the original Thai adverts in the ad breaks, so I saw the products during the show and in between. Maybe it wouldn’t have been as bad if I’d watched it on a platform without the ads. Though I hear that Thai productions in general have a lot of product placement.
The other nitpick might also be a mainstay of Thai dramas in general, but the cheesy sound effects. Some of them I understood because they made you aware of subtle reactions onscreen that would be easy to miss when reading subtitles, if they weren’t accompanied by sound effects (like winking). Sometimes they were helpful but sometimes they were too much. The show was long enough that I might’ve gotten more used to them by the end of the sequel.
I was a little off-put by the extremely cliche gay character and the way he was used in the beginning, but it got better later on. And when I try to think about an alternative characterization to put in that role I honestly can’t think of what it could be.

Alright onto the actual show:
Sarawat is easily my favorite character and the actor just nailed the expressions. After his initial introductions, his face was so emotive in scenes with Tine. The music was phenomenal. I adored the lyrics that were poetic and meaningful. The way they used music throughout both as OST and inside the story just added to the characters’ development and my enjoyment.

The story setup while cheesy and maybe a little forced is actually a favorite setup of mine, which is one of the reasons I chose this as my first BL Drama to watch. I liked how it unfolded and especially the twists and turns it took to create tension.

I truly enjoy a romance if I can feel the characters feel for each other. I can’t care about a romance if I don’t feel like one of the characters truly cares. 2gether absolutely balances that back and forth. The writing and the acting both truly deliver. More than an interesting story, I’d describe it as an emotive story. Emotions were the most important element to me and the reason I kept watching. I grew extremely attached to these characters in quite a short time.

I liked having the side couples, but the main pair shines the brightest to me, as they should.

I also enjoyed the fact that this story kind of exists outside of the real world, where there is no issue of homophobia and the characters merely treat others feelings the same regardless of gender. Gender isn’t even a topic of discussion. With the topic of gender being ever present in large percentage of BL, it’s kind of nice to have a story once in a while that’s an escape from the world, where love is love, and 2gether absolutely provides that.

2gether is an emotive journey between two guys trying to figure each other out and how music plays a role between them. It’s a gay romance that’s a refreshing escape from reality with some silliness ever present.

good one

over all acting for whole cast is great, just some actors need to dive into chemistry. story is good enough and some funny scene makes it more interesting. fun to watch, even behind the scene videos seems really fun. maybe it’s a bit cringe(?) for some scene but most series has it so i’m not gonna complaint. good script, the team production present it well. i read some people said this movie is overrated but i dont think it is, surely can give 8/10 for this series. especially after the 2nd season.

Lovely series

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I think anyone who rated this any lower than a 7 is crazy. I didnt see any problems with it. I can get why maybe some would find it a little boring in comparison to some other BL's but overall as a whole, it was pretty entertaining. I loved the difference in personality of the two main characters. Ones a little more outspoken, rambunctious, and fiesty. The other is cool, calm, and collected. It makes for a really good dynamic. I also appreciate how in learning to love each other, their relationship was never abusive or toxic(at least in the ways I'm thinking of). I would watch this again. I caught myself laughing and smiling a LOT. I think it's worth giving a shot depsite what others say about it.

This was my first BL in a while and as a veteran BL watcher I've seen a good amount and I know what BL especially Thai ones are capable of doing. Because i hadn't watched one in a while I thought when i couldn't feel anything for the characters or the story it was just me being out of touch but coming on here and seeing the other reviews I realized it wasn't just me. As said by others the first few episodes were very promising. This seriously had the makings of a great BL but it was like after they got together something was missing. I didn't want to explicitly say it was the intimacy for fear of over sexualizing gay couples, but it's like when they finally got together they became two different people not in a good way.

I hate what they made their relationship turn into, I felt nothing substantial between them. It was like the writers ran out of material after they got together but still wanted to keep going. No sparks or extreme chemistry, I didn't find myself getting flustered or excited to see them on screen despite having felt it at the beginning. Towards the end I just was watching just to finish the show. There were no cute heartwarming moments that showed the love they had for each other, and do not get me started on the fact that they pulled out the breakup for literally no reason then get back together after big event/reveal trope. It's been a while since I've seen a drama do that and it's safe to say that it's still a no for me.

The drama has some good aspects and for someone who hasn't seen better this would be a pretty damn good BL. But I have seen better so for me this was just ok.
(This was my first review so idk if this is too good haha)

It's a good series overall

Don't get me wrong, I liked the series, I liked the actors and I even liked the flaws that the show has... is just that I don't feel like it is one of the greatest shows ever as a lot of people usually say. So, to understand why I'm hesitant about it, please read.

Well, let's be honest, it wasn't the best story among alls, actually, there are a lot of flaws since the very beginning. My first complaint was that they don't show Tine responding to Green's confession, so I couldn't understand if Tine was a push-over, if he had an issue saying "no" to people -weird thing since he had to break up with his ex, so it means that he can be straightforward sometimes-, or another particularity of his personality. I forgive that flaw and continue with the show.

When we see their first interaction with Sarawat, somehow I get that Wat was into Tine (I didn't need to read the spoilers, it was kinda obvious), what I never understood was why he was so stubborn about talking with Tine, and after we learn that he was looking for him since the very beginning, that doubt was reinforced. Yes, I know he was kinda shy to finally met him, but, come on... Tine was following you on a bicycle, you could just pull over there and hear him.

The story goes on, they start to interact, I started to realize he was more into him than I expected, I found pretty interesting their dynamic and how Tine little-by-little started to notice Wat as a man and not just as a fake boyfriend.

The acting wasn't outstanding but it has a lot of peaks for some characters:
- When Tine cries because he couldn't finish the song,
- Wat's excitement to finally found Tine (I have to admit that I wanted to go into the screen and hug and kiss Wat when he was jumping so happy about founding him),
- how Man managed being insulted in Type's dinner (I wanted to kick them too),
- and Phukong crying in the bench after asking Mil to not see him; just to name some.

The storyline, I insist, wasn't the best among all, still entertaining. I think that one of their most remarkable things is actually that; the story was soft, easy to watch, and easy to follow, but that doesn't make a great series, if so, a good one. But, that's just my opinion.

The characters were so diverse that I found some interesting, others entertaining, others disgusting, and some just unbearable.

** I have to admit that I dislike how Green was so after Tine even when he made clear that he didn't like Green (and after we realize that he was just using Tine, that was worst.) buuuuut I also dislike how Man was so haunted because of Type, for me they both were in the same line, just that a lot of people loved "Man" and disliked "Green". For me, both behaviors were just too much.
After Green went back with Dim I found funny their relationship because is pretty common to see people acting like that in real life hahahaha and after Man got to be with Type, I realize that they were cute together. But, the path to it, was disgusting.

About Tine and Wat's relationship, I have to admit that I have never had a problem with the lack of kisses or skinship in Thai dramas, actually, I enjoyed more the couple dynamic than other things. For example:
- I got pleased by seeing Wat and Tine ignoring the yellow tape so they could eat together when Type went to their place,
- how they cuddle in the coach to sleep together,
- and when they look to each other's eyes.

For me, the lack of kisses meant nothing at all. What I couldn't understand was the whole drama about Pam, I know, they needed to extend one or two chapters of the series, but, it was just plain stupid, but it is what it is, so I can't complain too much hahahahaha

In the end, I get to understand Tine's low steam and why sometimes he acted the way he did.

Overall, I still believe that it was a good show, but couldn't find the "greatness" that I read over the Internet...

Effective musical romance

The strong points of the series are Bright's musical scenes, reasonably three dimensional performances from the leads, and the soundtrack. The weak points are unconvincing body language between the leads and some clumsy writing that makes the series drag in places.
The main arc and plot is well supported by the performances and soundtrack: an introvert who has a habit of communicating emotions through music meets and falls in love with somoene with whom that resonates, and the two of them need to work out how to make the sometimes awkward relationship work. For the series to work the musical scenes need to work, and Bright is a good enough musician to pull that off. The scenes where he sings to Tine are convincingly touching and carry the emotional impact they need to.
What doesn't work so well is the body language between Sarawat and Tine. They just don't seem to be a couple in love very often. I suspect it's in part intentional: a somewhat awkward relationship with an introvert that is somehow advanced by sharing emotions through music. I think it's probably also a result of having limited time to work on multiple takes of the secenes where they interact privately because of the time it likely took to shoot the musical scenes in the series.
Overall though I think the series accomplishes most of what it aims to do, and it's one of the best music centered series I've seen. If they had resorted to the usual fake guitar and produced vocals the series would have been a failure. Very credible and raw musical performances are worth the tradeoff of a little less credible chemistry between the leads here and there.
