One cliché among the many.
EDIT: I rethought and lowered my rating. But, I still stick to what I said.Definitely, this drama doesn't deserve a 9.5 if you look at it from all aspects. But, I loved it so much to the point that I rewatched it.
So... is this really worth it?
THE CHARACTERS:
The usual: Yuan Qian, a freshman of the Sculpture Department has no time for games or relationships - she wanted to badly transfer her major to Oil Painting which she had unfortunately lost due to her low College Entrance scores.
Qin Shen: the hero whose heart is same as that of his sculptures. He doesn't pursue relationships either, rather he wishes to excel in his craft and talent.
They have their own paths. So, when they collide, thing go right and wrong.
SATISFACTION OR CAREER?
One thing that I absolutely loved is how they handled this subject. (And possibly explains my high rating.) Most of the plot revolves around the female lead attempting to change her major to the one she loves. Qin Shen, the male lead, is punished by his mother for choosing what he loves - sculptures. [ I didn't even know that such a major exists. ]
The school decides to stop taking in students due to its less popularity.
With only 11 students and not to mention that most of them were reassigned from other majors and had to learn to love Sculpture. [Except maybe two or three including Qin Shen.]
Objectively, parents are right - sometimes choosing what we love would end up with us being jobless. I still don't know what to think of this and it might never change.
THE ROMANCE:
Coming from a Professional Single myself, I would not ask you to trust my rating.
The leads are forced together on several occasions, which I think is the reason they fell for each other. There are time skips right from EP 3, so we do not see the complete growth of their relationship, rather only the tough parts.
I liked how Qin Shen and Yuan Qian were skirting around each other without ever telling what the other was feeling. This leads to some misunderstandings. (They don't get together until EP 16.)
Heck, Qin Shen himself is one jealous person. But, I wished Yuan Qian had tested his limits cause most of the time, it seemed like she didn't. She was afraid of losing him once she got him.
And I've seen comments about how Qin Shen's actions creeped out many. I suck at anything romantic, so I'd suggest you to watch the drama to find out. I didn't care much about the last few episodes, even though I loved the drama.
And this comment sums up what I thought:
https://mydramalist.com/40061-professional-single#comment-4723381
[Same thing with LoveO2O - Wei Wei's computer was hacked by the main guy, not to mention that he almost stalked her albeit his intentions... if it was real life, he'd be in jail.]
THE FRIENDSHIPS:
They were one of the reasons that kept me watching the show. All of them were unique and relatable and reminded me of my real life friends. Particularly Chen Qinan and Yi Ming.
I had many crack up moments due to their antics.
For once, there was no "you are better than me" "she is more good looking" talk among them, both girls and boys. They learn to appreciate each other for who they were.
THE ANTAGONISTS...
don't actually exist. The second lead, Song Siyi is never considered a romantic rival. He is good and cheerful to everyone, including the Yuan Qian. He might be even better than the male lead when it comes to possessiveness. But, its clear that what he feels is just his wishful thinking. He is one of my favourites for just being himself.
I didn't particularly hate Ling Wei either. She had a crafty mind, but she wasn't completely evil as some of the others I've come across.
OVERALL:
Its a good watch and throw drama among many of the millions released every year, if we ignore the problematic parts. But, I'm glad that I stumbled across it.

A bumpy first romance
Is this a fun series? Yes, it has all the cute scenes you expect from one of these rom coms, the guy trying to act cool but melting for his love interest. The main female lead is just adorable and she really embodies the "new to dating" awkwardness. You see Yuan Xian grow from a shy, unsure partner to being confident to tell Ling Wei, girl who likes Qin Shin, that they are dating even after the she used every opportunity to guilt Yuan from "gifting" her a job to using depression to keep them apart. Now for the negative, I was a bit shaky on the romance between the main character since up until they started dating, I felt more chemistry in them tentatively showing their feelings. Then after they were openly dating there didn't seem to be any "chemistry" other than a very cute scene with him giving her a necklace and him barking >.< When you watch it, you will see what I mean.. just "ahh?"
Also I was a bit frustrated with how he seemed to punish her for quite some time, and it was seen as ok? I get him being upset for a bit but it seemed to be over a span of a long time.
All in all it was a cute series that took place over the span of freshman year for majority of the episodes and then a peak at them at graduation.

CEOs of Being Single? YESSIRRRRR
This entire show in general was beautiful, from the characters to the lessons learned throughout, this show set my expectations for college. If it ain't like this, it sucked. I first watched this drama because when I read the synopsis, I was really surprised how much I related to Yuan Qian. I'm also very picky about guys. If I see even the smallest unbearable habit, I stay away. The show had a very simple theme: there's a bunch of college kids that bonds under a department.Qin Shen did leave me a little pissed at first, but then I realized he doesn't know how to show his feelings. He tried to make Yuan Qian happy, which I respect and appreciate about him. Yuan Qian is very protective of herself and her friends. She adores her roommates even though she wanted to change majors because of a measly deal with her dad. She also knows how to avoid guys, which honestly is me. Yuan Qian and Qin Shen's roommates are something else. Yi Ming is very sweet, and respects Qin Shen. Yi Ming honestly would be cute with Lu Jia Ning, they balance each other perfectly. Chen Qi Nan is hilarious, he never misses the chance to be mischievous. He's such a troublemaker, and it's funny that he's easily intimidated by Lu Xin Xin when she's mad. Lu Jia Ning so really headstrong. She's determined to get everything the way she likes it, which I really like about her. She's like the rock of the dorm. Lu Xin Xin is funny and a foodie, kind of like me. She takes things to heart so she can be easily swayed. Xue Chong Yang was very intimidated in her first year. She's like the wallflower of the show; she barely has any screen time and honestly is very underrated. Song Siyi might be handsome and a sweetheart, but he was kind of trying too hard. I wonder if Song Siyi and Xue Chong Yang ever got together; but probably not, since in the epilogue he didn't appear and wasn't even mentioned. Ling Wei was just straight up confused through this whole show. Jia Si Cheng's feelings were honestly the most raw out of anyone. He cared about sculpting a lot. Ling Wei may have been his friend, but he liked her a lot. I honestly felt really happy that Qin Shen, Ling Wei, and Jia Si Cheng are happy and are friends again.

Good
I liked it drama. I rewatched a lot of times. I mean, the male lead can be too much sometimes but I didn’t mind it as much since it’s only entertainment. In real life, a guy acting like the male lead isn’t right and it isn’t good ideal to idolize it. Besides that, I think this drama is good if you like love triangles, protective, jealous boyfriend. If you don’t then i wouldn’t recommend watching this. The casting was good. The height difference between the main lead actors was cute. Was this review helpful to you?
Sweet little love story but there are some missing parts
As drama has nothing new to show ,same college life then lead falls to each other between this they face many hardships but in this story they individually didn't face the hardship but together they fight for their major (sculpture design ).There are some incomplete parts in the story ,I think so
1.they started the story with introduction of the character and leads met eachother, when girl lead friend's did some mischief work and when they had been scolding at that time entering of mislead and then female lead started narrated the story ,I thought the story would goes in flashback but it was not like that so I thinkbfirst episode is not perfectly link with other episodes .
2 I thought male lead would have some story with her mother ,some emotions related story but they didn't show much.
3. Then with his grandmother he didn't have much scenes I thought ,his grandmother would give some spark to their story in the positive way but nothing happened
What I like the most in the drama that is in last they shown main lead's friend get coupled, they looked so cute together . I like to see their story more but that was a last episode but it is okay .
As a whole it is good drama.

Enjoyable Light-hearted Romance and Feel good Drama : )
I am a very big fan of Fluffy Romance and Rom-Com. And this drama really fulfilled all my expectations. I loved the vibe it gave. I actually watched this last year when it actually streamed but wasn't much experienced in drama field and hence didn't get to write a review. On a personal note, this was my 2nd drama after I entered the drama world and I loved this. I would've at least re-watched it 5 to 7 times. It doesn't have much serious stuff happening and that's why I love it.
Being a very big fan of Run Ze and Aaron, the cast was really satisfying! It had the colourful youth aura and a touch of friendship, which made it even more addictable.
I also loved the OST so much. It really highlighted the small, cute moments between the ML and FL.
And most importantly, I had my first SML Syndrome in this one lol. Like, literally, Run Ze was so cute and sweet, all lovely and caring for Qian. There are moments that I even wanted her to just go on with Run Ze lmao.
I also really liked the Jealousy parts. The cute reactions of Aaron were priceless. But, his acting could've been better. I wasn't whole satisfied with it.
Overall, it was a cute, realistic love story between a girl and a boy of the same university.
Some moments of the ML and FL were priceless and soo cute. It can't be lovely anymore. The whole time I was like:
"OMG Awww.... Why so cute?!". Maybe I am exaggerating it but Being my early dramas, I don't have any objective thoughts on it. Just shared my perspective on it! Hope it helped!!

Good Enough
" Professional Single " is an adorable drama with a cute couple. The highlight of it is actually the female lead. Yes she is acting cute from time to time, and yes, sometimes she is in need of help, but, all in all, she was a strong lead, who didn't get whiny and annoying. Her chemistry with the male lead was spot on as well, and they were adorable together. Chemistry was, in fact, the thing that kept things interesting, as pretty much the whole drama was about them dancing around each other and never getting actually together.
As for the second leads, they were fine, male second lead was adorable and the friends were funny and great, but the female second lead... well, she didn't get no for an answer and she tended to be annoying from time to time.
Finally, the performances were good and the pace pretty fast overall.
So, 7 out of 10.

not too bad but this is not my cup of tea
Finally……In this drama I didn't really get any insight. Whether it's the plot or the characters, it wasn't really deepened other than the main character. The setting wasn't too broad apart from fighting over a guy, vacation, and making a statue in college. I didn't feel like every problem was completely resolved. Then at the beginning there were 5 roommates but it became 4, not to mention it was said that there were only 3 girls in the sculpture department in the next episode it became 6 (I don't understand this inconsistency, maybe I missed something). The main character was said to be the head of the dormitory discipline committee but it didn't continue and was only introduced at the beginning. oh did I miss the explanation part or what?!
There were many things that were confusing and boring... Qing's parents weren't told, also Qian's parents (it's also unclear how her father responded to Qian who didn't change majors :)) even though the problem was often brought up. Even though I felt this was the main problem that needed to be highlighted.
The friendship drama could almost be deepened, especially if the friendship was broad with other majors. The characters of her friends are more interesting to me huhuhu.. I can't choose anyway. Here the setting is like she's ambitious to make a statue and nothing else is told... or did I forget? But yes, I'm bored watching them make statues but don't know what happens next. Talking about statues I always ask, THE STATUES ARE REALLY SOLID AND WERE THEY NOT BURNED? CONTINUOUSLY YOU ARE REALLY GOOD AT MAKING STATUES WEARING WHITE CLOTHES BUT THE CLOTHES ARE STILL CLEAN (Immediately remember the jkt48 song-Wear White Clothes) hahaha.. But yeah, that really makes me confused (this is an insult to the artistic director hehe)
Poor athlete (second lead), he didn't get enough screen time at the end. Even though he is mentioned as the main character in the synopsis, hahaha. Just for display, okay? (btw this character gets a love interest for the main character but always fails, like in a little thing called love in China version. I am waiting for your drama as main character, woke? Hohoho.
Oops, although this drama is almost boring, this drama is not cringe. There are many interesting backgrounds and most of the situations are funny. I don't really love the woman character (not the actress, but the character she play). But…… CAN I HUG AARON DENG BECAUSE HIS SHOULDERS ARE SO MANLY OH MY GOD HIS SHOULDERS ARE STURDY TO BEAR ANY BURDEN BUT HIS HEART IS SO SOFT TO BE HUGGED! If there was any other Aaron Deng drama, I think I want to watch it. This drama is good enough to entertain us who are feeling down because there are many funny scenes even though there are many plots that jump around like frog. Like the plot from freshman to graduation 3 years later and the two main characters become a couple in the middle episode after only knowing each other for a few months when they were freshmen (Remember when the guy was freshman already become a disciplinary commission hahaha). But considering the title they are "Professional Single', WHERE IS THE MANIFESTATION OF 'PROFESSIONAL SINGLE' ????
I don't know, maybe this is not my type or maybe I didn't really look into it when I watched it.

Good storyline but kinda toxic relationship
Although i enjoyed the drama till 15th or so episodes, my interest went down pretty quick after that. Male lead is the usual cliche lead, cold and brilliant until he met fl. but the reason i dont like this drama much and gave low rating is because he is way too possessive not healthy possessive but toxic possessive and Yuan Qian(fl) just went along with his interests which makes it all the more problematic. And the second male lead is better with female lead than the male lead since he gives her more freedom and space., their relationship was sweet until male lead tampered with it. only reason for 3.5 rating is because of the friendship, the struggle of art students and the whole growing up.wont rewatch again for sure

Be Aware Before Watching
A not so good dramaTo be honest, this show was a little problematic. I don't know if it's just me or what..but there were so many annoying scenes that I just can't continue it. Like females can't do that they can't do this or WHY ARE YOU MAKING A FEMALE DO THIS?!. It also normalizes obsessive relationships. Like WTF! It feels nice because it's happening in a drama. But if it happens in real life, you will understand that it's not right and it should not happen. However I still thought that I'll complete it but I couldn't. There were many funny scenes but mostly it was annoying, cringey and problematic. The drama wasn't that much good and lovely if you watch it carefully...So be careful before watching it, If you don't like watching the things mentioned above then it'll be just you waste of time.
