Wholesome Rolar Coaster Drama

Showed every emotions of regular life.
starting from families and their bond, bond between neighbour from family.
showed that not every child have beautiful childhood.
but also showed great siblings bond. Sometimes being a single parent is not a bad thing.
Showed how emotions started fade away when we don't stay in touch with our love ones and feel awkward when we face them after a huge distance. Technology can't always help us to feel the warmness of being together.
This drama also showed how to love. showed emotions of one sided love to tringle love.
about parenting.
about family issues,
about depressions,
also showed every one's individualities.
JUST WATCH IT.
NOT GONNA REGREAT.
VERY WORTH WATCHING.

Very sweet story

As meny of these stories go, this too was super cute and an easy show to watch and something that I think did well for the kind of story it was trying to show; there were some parts where I found it either hard to understand or even I would say they might have been overdoing it with the level of drama that was being shown. However, I think it is a somewhat realistic story, so that was nice. Besides the things I mentioned, it should be someone you should watch if you are into these kinds of stories.

A Must Watch At Least Once In a Lifetime

I joined MDL just so I can give rating to this drama. Very endearing, heartwarming, and touching. The best drama I've ever watched so far, realistic dialogues and scenarios, beautifully written in-depth characters, satisfying closures, amazing casting, beautiful OSTs, and full of morals and good principles; really gave me a lesson about family and filial piety, though also gives importance of found-family based on care and affection. A must watch drama in a lifetime. Of course there are things not liking to my taste but they're all about preferences :) I give this drama a 10 because 9 doesn't do the drama justice! Go watch it, it's worth the episodes!

BEST DRAMA OF 2020

This is my favorite drama out of hundreds I’ve watched. It was so wholesome. All the relationships were so beautifully written including romantic relationships, friendships, relationships between parents and children and relationship between siblings. It ran strong with the theme that “the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb” where two of our main characters CHOSE their family rather than be with the family they were born to.

Let’s start with our leads.

Jiangjiang is our female lead and she is adorable. She’s funny, caring, cheerful and independent. Without her and her accepting and generous nature, this story could not start. Sure, she was portrayed as dumb in high school but that’s not her whole personality. She’s not the “A Playful Kiss - Oh Ha Ni” dumb where I hated myself a little bit more every new episode, so please don’t hold yourself back because of it. JiangJiang is one of the best female leads I’ve seen with great character development. She grows, she learns and she matures at the end of the drama but she still keeps everything good about her with her.

Song Wei Long as Ling Xiao made me SWOON. I’ve watched him in Find Yourself before and as attractive as he was, the plot line was pure shit so there was not much appeal. But in Go Ahead, he was amazing. Ling Xiao gets “adopted” as a brother by Li JiangJiang at the start of the show when they were kids. His background is really sad and the friendship between the two blossoms methodically and wonderfully. This friendship lasts till the end of high school and throughout high school we can see how much they love each other. HE EVEN BECOMES A DENTIST FOR HER. UGHH THERE’S SO MUCH TO WRITEEEE. Just please watch it :’)

He Ziqui played by Steve Chang made me cry. He was such a well written character. The only thing he wanted was a family and to make people around him happy. There’s so much he sacrificed and there was so much good in him. He was, to me undoubtedly, the most pitiful character, especially as a child. As he grows up, we see him become more confident and mature and overall more well rounded. I literally cried when he was washing other people’s clothes late at night to be filial. There was a lot of depth to his character and EVERYONE HERE SHOULD APPRECIATE HIM.

Overall, the OST was great, the themes were great, the actors and the characters were great, and the plot line was great. Just watch it. Trust me. You’ll love it.

PS: the OST was amazing. You Are My Everything is now my bop.

Wow.. what a fantastic TV series... absolutely great

Beautiful music and acting and storylines make this one of the year's best watch for me. I watched it after watching A River Runs Through It (another 10/10 series) and this one is also unforgettable. In fact, I think in some ways, I like this one even more but they are both equally great.

Love the main leads but to be honest, almost every character in this series is unforgettable. Love the family love and the way they support each other. Also the story of the boys being raised by this cafe owner... wow.. there is just so much love in the family.

The best thing is authentic story and dialogues. No stupid fluffy cartoony silly dialogues. Everyone speaks authentically.

Also no silly annoying cartoonish characters with dumb dialogues.

Overall, it's one of the best series I have seen from China. Top notch all the way.

My ratings mean what they mean

☆☆☆☆☆ Literally the BEST DRAMA EVER- I don't think it can get any better than this (at least for now). I cried so much because of happiness. This drama wasn't steered towards youth love or whatever, it was covering the base of friendship, family, and personal values. I loved the whole idea of the theme so much, it's crazy.

☆☆☆☆☆ The three main "children" characters came from families with very heartbreaking backstories. It really made me think that everyone has a small piece missing from them, in one way or another. Jian Jian, Zi Qiu, and Ling Xiao are just such lovable characters, they have their strengths and their shortcomings. Over time, the characters start developing and understanding what real love is, whether it is from intimate relationships or family relationships, or friendships. Most of all, the characters have to learn to forgive and forget. That's a hard lesson everyone had to go through, which was a very painful, but meaningful process for them to endure, which is also what made this drama so worthy.
Another thing is that there aren't any MAJOR love triangles, like romance isn't the focal point of this drama, which made it more enjoyable. It isn't the typical "female/male second lead gets jealous of the female/male lead and tries to sabotage the leads' relationship". No one was purposefully trying to kill or injure someone, or anything extreme, which is great.

☆☆☆☆☆ It's really hard to say where this drama could improve since it's literally so amazing. But I guess one thing is that some other characters' stories aren't finished. Like, what happened to Tang Can and Zhuang Bei? Did Tang Can ever successfully pursue her dream career? What happens to the three girls' friendship when Ming Yue goes to Beijing? Does Zi Qiu ever fully forgive his mother and father? How does Ling Xiao think about his mother? The story has a happy ending, so it seems that overall the story is complete, but there are some little things that leave the story incomplete. Maybe that's just me wanting a part two ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

☆☆☆☆☆ Anyways, amazing drama, definitely my favorite by far. Story = 10, acting/cast = 10, music = 10, rewatch value = 10, overall = 10... I really meant what I meant. I would give this drama a 100 if I could. I would for sure recommend this to ANYONE who hasn't watched this yet- you'd be missing out if you didn't watch it :)

relatable, heartwarming, shows what life really is like

i really enjoyed this show as it has a good mix of genres like romance, comedy, and family. it showed the lives of 3 kids who were not blood-related but became a family.
overall, this drama is really worth watching is you like rom-coms or those kind of shows which give you a slice of life vibe.
storyline(no spoilers): what i enjoyed is that the drama really showed what life is like by dedicating the first part of the drama to show their school life, and then showing their work life and romance after. i like how this drama is realistic, letting you learn a lot of good values, yet funny and entertaining. however, i find it a little weird how the “siblings” who lived together can end up falling for each other
acting: i think all the actors did a really good job in portraying their different characters, nothing seemed like they were trying so hard or too fake :)
music: the ost was good and suits each scene well. though it sounds a bit sad, the songs sound comforting

AMAZING DRAMA . STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS

this drama is very good , it shows the struggles of life and how each of them overcome hardships together . The acting is absolutely amazing and i would strongly recommend this drama . The 'sister and brother' relationship they have is rare to see nowadays . i love to see how they all get on so well with one another and the lines they have in the drama match their personality . This drama is a mix of youth , comedy , romance and heartbreak . i really enjoyed this drama and it has to be one of the best dramas out there .

The most beautiful drama that I have ever watched!

Watched it by accident, but in the end, I really hooked by this drama. The drama is really give an impact on me as a human, daughter, and sister. No family has no problems. What makes it different is how we as a family dealt with it together.

Story. I don't have any word that can describe this drama except Wonderful! I really thank the screenwriter and all of the staff that made the beautiful story for us. This is one of the most satisfying storylines that I ever watched. You guys own my respect.

Cast. All of the characters are played by the perfect actors with the perfect skill. Especially Tan Songyun, Song Weilong, and Zhang Xincheng, your chemistry is really something. Thank you for making the characters in this drama alive. Also, I wanna bow to the other characters that really did a great job in their own role. Without you guys, the story would never be this well-executed.

Music. Thank you to the music department that gave us beautiful and perfect soundtracks. Without your hard work, the audience will not get the meaning that the story wants to deliver. All of the songs never missed the moment! They are so beautiful.

I can't find anything that made me disappointed with this drama. I definitely will rewatch this drama in the future. If you like family and have deep meaning-kind-of-drama, I can guarantee you will never regret watching this drama.

Drama with mix feelings!

Seriouslyyyy i think everyone should or must watch this drama! It's such a beautiful drama, i mean it! the story inside this drama is just too awesome for me. This drama get me into mix feelings! In just one episode i can find happiness, sadness, struggle, love, family, fear, and so on! I'm amazed with the child actors, they act awesome! I can get a lot of lesson from every episode. I seriously tear up with the love of the father to all the children. I like all the cast chemistry, they're just too perfect for each other. I can't describe more with words about how great this drama is. I'm really sad that it ended. I need more scenes of the loving brothers and sister and their friendship :(

Family is who you’d make sacrifices for, not necessarily defined by blood ties

Go Ahead is really a Family + Coming of Age drama about Selflessness versus Selfishness. Love how the drama brought out contrasting examples of what it means to be loving others selflessly and selfishly loving oneself over others, even if one is or not biologically related to the other.

Super Heart-warming Relationships between the 4 Lead Characters
-The way Li Ba (Li Hai Chao) takes pity and takes on Ziqiu without hesitation, raising him as if he is one of his own sons and not as a "lesser" offspring compared to his own blood daughter, Li Jian Jian. The humble working class father could have turned a blind eye (given his modest circumstances as a single parent) so as to not take on another financial and emotional burden to look after an abandoned kid. But he didn't, he took Ziqiu under his wing and cared for him all the way from childhood to adulthood without any expectations from Ziqiu to reciprocate.
- The way Jian Jian treats Ling Xiao and Ziqiu who aren't biologically related to her, as her blood brothers. I mean, this girl could have reacted in an insecure and selfish way if she thought of these brothers as an extra burden and competition for resources from her father who isn't that well off? She treated them like real brothers instead of step-brothers- their kinship is the second most heart warming element of this drama.
- The way Ling Xiao sacrificed his desires to study in China to be with the Li Family and fly over to Singapore just so that he can look after the very mother who abandoned him when he was young. He could have just cut his mom off and leave her to fend for herself since she walked out on him when he was such a young kid, but he didn't.
- The way Ziqiu sacrificed his desire to study and work in China and fly over to UK in order to please his real father Zhao Haoguang so that the Li family would not be harmed (or so he thought). He refused to take money from his father even though he was given an opportunity to and worked the odd jobs quietly to pay his uni fees without relying or expecting a single cent on Li Ba, his adopted father. Respect!

Realistic Toxic Relationships depicted by Secondary Necessary Evil Characters
- Chen Ting, Ling Xiao's mother portrays a believable narcissistic villain in this show. She is the "bad Guy" who blames everyone (except herself) for her misfortune as a way of justifying her self-serving behaviour. Everything in her life, from her daughter's death (which was an indirect result of her negligence as a mother when she locked the kids up so she could sneak out for fun), her failed marriage (the divorce was a decision she initiated because she gave up on her marriage to a workaholic husband) and her loneliness (because 2nd husband died from a car-crash and she realised she had no one to look after her financial needs).
When life cripples over, Chen Ting conveniently crawls back to the son she abandoned and demands Ling Xiao to take care of her, if not, no surprises for guessing, she threatens suicide. The actress who played this extremely unlikeable character is brilliant!
- Qin Meiying, Chen Ting's other daughter, portrays a second Villain character convincingly as the overly possessive step-sister to Ling Xiao. Like Mother Like Daughter? Lol. Maybe that's what the Script-writers wanted to hint at. ChengZi (her nickname) is seen to view Li Jian Jian or anyone who captures her step-brother's attention as a threat. Her backstory was sufficiently well explained - her mean bossy personality comes from the fact that she feels insecure despite growing up in a wealthy household. When a fatal car crash accident causes her father's death and her mother, Chen Ting, to be widowed, she becomes even more insecure and nastier towards other people. There is a small glimmer of redemption for Chengzi when we see her being humbled by our hardy and resilient Ziqiu who doesn't carry her airs just because she is wealthier than him, but treats her like an equal - you want my respect? work and earn it just like the others. Chengzi realises how she has been unfairly mean towards people who had done nothing but be welcoming and nice to her. She eventually becomes a less toxic version of her narcissistic mother, the big Bad Villain of the show. As the second little villain in this drama, this turnaround makes her less unlikable.

Unnecessary Side-Shows
The things that downplayed this drama for me was the numerous Love triangles between the supporting female and male characters. I felt that some of these love triangles that were stuffed into the script to for the sake of creating more story arcs to hold the audience's attention and these created more diversion instead of cohesiveness for the main storyline. If the scriptwriters could trim this down, the drama would have fewer episodes, but the storyline would also be more succinct.

Go Ahead storyline isn't particularly complex, so this drama is really simple and enjoyable to watch when your brain is feeling tired or dead and just wants a chicken-soup-for-the-soul pick me up.
This drama is a great show for the young and old to watch because the positive role models exemplify what it means to be selflessly loving to others, even if one is not biologically or legally related, while the bad villains give a realistic demonstration of what toxic, self-serving behaviours look like.
