Truly Beautiful and Lovely! Cant get over it.

I read on "Go Ahead" Wiki that in China the rating of this drama dropped when suddenly two non-blood relater brother confessed their love for Li Jianjian. There is no way that one could just judge the drama on this basis alone. Also, both the characters in the drama have their own reasons for doing so. And to understand such a thought process, one needs to be mature and has emotional intelligence.
We all can see that Ling Xiao and Li Jianjian always have something going on (crushing each other vibe) though Li Jianjian didn't realize it before. So, it's quite normal for Ling Xiao to confess his love for Li Jianjian.
About He Ziqui, his wanting to be married to Li Jianjian is more to do with staying with the family forever. He is very protective of her. And He feels only he can protect and care for her the best.
And his love for her is very brotherly and family vibe. He loves his dad Li wholeheartedly. With this thought, his confession is justified.
The story of this drama is well thought out and well written. It depicts all the emotions which one faces in normal life. And it's truly beautiful. The actors and actresses performed outstandingly for the characters they are playing. It was a roller-coaster ride of emotions. Can't help myself saying - It was truly beautiful. Every bit of the drama is worth it. All the characters are lovely, of course! except for Ling Xiao's mum. But the actress did a great job of making us hate her so much. She really did a great job of depicting an evil, selfish-centric, and difficult-to-be-with person.
Thank you, Producer, Long Ya for producing this amazing drama and screenwriters Shui Qianmo and Wang Xiongcheng for complying with this beautiful family story.

Heartwarming

If you're looking for a slice-of-life family drama, this is the best it gets. I must have cried every other episode, and it's rare to see a drama where every character gets a fleshed-out backstory that tugs at the heartstrings. There's a lot of struggle and tragedy but a lot of love as well — and it really felt like no minutes in this drama were wasted and no character felt left behind. This drama just gave me so many feelings, especially when it came to the two fathers.

The romance was done really well too; it was hinted at early on and developed naturally — there was no annoying breakup and misunderstanding. This drama describes why I love friends-to-lovers, because they just know each other well enough.

The OST is perfect and powerful; listening to the songs afterwards isn't just like watching the show all over again, it was like seeing myself grow up in the last 20 years and feeling the nostagia of it all.

There's some comments about the ending feeling rushed and to a certain extent I feel that as well, but ultimately I think it was more of a feeling of not wanting it to be over. I'd seriously highly recommend this one.

Good Show

It has a really compelling story. It took me a while to get fully into it, but I enjoyed it. It had the best cooking scenes. The whole love plot was annoying it could have been just a really cute story of friendship, but Jian Jian and Xiao grew on me.I absolutely hated the love triangle I felt like Xiao and Zi Qiu could have been closer and we don't see too much of their friendship. The ending honestly sucked, they could've fleshed it out more and had a satisfying conclusion. I hated how most of the episode was about Xiao's mom. Everyone did really great in portraying their characters. I really like the OST. I would not watch this again because it was super long and emotionally draining. Overall I enjoyed it, felt like their could be more to the ending though.

A family of choice, abandoned by their mothers, raised by devoted fathers.

Relationship between the three friends who grew up together:
===============================================
From the get go, it was easy to see that Jian Jian clearly favored Ling Xiao over He Zi Qiu. She made Zi Qiu's life quite difficult and it made me a bit worried about what kind of man Zi Qiu would grow up to be, to always have to beg for affection. But thankfully, he turned out all right. Overtime, she outgrew the little jealously she felt about him becoming her brother and Zi Qiu's mother becoming her step-mother. But we could see that she took him for granted because he agreed to everything she wanted. And maybe that allowed him to have fun along with her, be a little naughty and forget that his mother left him to a stranger who could have treated him badly. Next, we have Ling Xiao, who was treated cruelly by his own mother, then later abandoned without much care. He had to grow up too early, compared to Jian Jian and Zi Qiu who were always lost in their own mischief. He was the mother of their friend group, who had look after both of them once he decided that they were his family. It was painful to see how life split the three apart, and for a moment I wondered if they would ever be the same.

The Best Fathers :
=============
Li Hai Chao: The best parent I have ever seen in any stories. Just how generous can a person be? There is nothing you can hate about him. He is made of all the good stuff in the world. Seeing that he lost his wife to childbirth, he could have become just as vile as Chen Ting and mistreated his child. But he was never that kind of person, he raised a daughter who was maybe a bit mischievous but all in all had a happy soul. He took in Zi Qiu and always treated ling Xiao well. He was both a mother and father to all three children who grew up to become the decent human beings they were. It was easy to see his genuine care for the children. He just eluded warmth. I was glad we had a character like that to balanced out the selfish mothers.
Ling He Ping: I wasn't a fan of him since he was more of an absentee father. Normally, it would have been understandable as he was the primary breadwinner of the family. But his absence resulted in the psychological trauma faced by his only living son who was neglected and mistreated by his mother. For far too long, He Ping humored Chen Ting at the cost of his child's mental health. I'm usually someone who is against violence and don't even tolerate excuses for slaps. But I didn't feel sorry when Chen Ting was slapped. What a poor excuse for a mother. Once she was out of the picture, Ling He Ping was finally focused on his child and became a decent father who started looking after his son.

Mothers who abandoned their sons:
===========================
Chen Ting: What a horrible character. I wonder where the ideas for this character came from. I do hope people who have mothers like these have grown up at least as well adjusted as Ling Xiao or are holding on and trying their best to live their life. She first mistreats her son, then abandons him without looking back, she then goes on to marry someone else and have another child (wth was going on in her mind to have another one. She is not a mother material), has an injury so now all the adults in her life don't want to take care of her so Xiao has to, when he has no obligations to do so. But he is guilt tripped into doing so. Even after he has fulfilled his duty as her "son", she then forces him to stay with them for more years. When is able to get rid of her tentacles and come back to a place where he was happy, she finds it in herself to come play with his head. She is mad at the woman he loves, hates her because that woman cared more for Xiao than her selfish ass ever did, then she tries to set her son up on a date with another woman, as if that's not enough she tries to kill herself leaving behind a letter for Xiao to find. She never had any mercy on her son. (One of the ickiest characters I have come across)

A beautiful and touching drama

I have seen many clips of the drama on YouTube and it urge me to watch it which I DONT REGRET IT!!!

Song Wei Long, Steven Zhang and Seven Tan did a remarkable job . Their acting were on point and I can feel the emotions they were trying to convey. I feel nostalgic when watching some scenes as it brings back some of my memories in school.

The person who played ling xiao's mother did a great job because I hated her. Initially, I tried to sympathize with her but I start disliking her when she tried to make ling xiao stay with her.

Overrated!

The story might be good but not great. The cast was pretty boring except for Song Weilong. Seven Tan's Character is an irony. She is not that lovable to be liked by two men. She has a brash attitude and annoying. Everything about her is just ordinary. For me as a viewer, she is not worthy to be gazed upon. I will not spend money on this artist. An actress must at least be charming and pretty. Steven Zhang smile is not captivating. Next time better not to smile because he would lose his charm. I liked the elders' acting better. Song Weilong's acting is better among the younger artists even when he doesn't smile.

THIS DRAMA IS ONE OF THE BEST FAMILY DRAMA HAVE WATCHED SO FAR THAT WAS WHY I RATED IT 10/10

If you need to watch drama that deals with family, I recommend this drama to you 100%. You will laugh,cry , happy, pity .... All along. The cast played there role so well that it felt like a am watching it real life. The second reason why I RATED it 10/10 is because of how they matches the music with the scenes. If you watch a sad episode, I doubt you won't be emotional with the music played. If you watch a happy episode,you will be happy for no reason with the music played. I don't know how to penned down all my Happy thought about this drama because it is just too good. After love designer/love customization , I would take it as another C_drama that I can never get tired of because it is just so real. Am the type that always love romance drama where there is always a French kiss,bed scenes....lol. but this particular drama changes my perspective. Let me recommend the C_drama have watched so far that I can't get tired of watching them. 1. Yanxi palace, Legend of Fuyao, Love designer or love customization, Dating in the kitchen, My love engliten me, my best of all External love also known as Fight for the throne 1&2 , Fox summer 1&2, External love of dream ... So many I couldn't remember all. If you have any recommendations too , kindly dropped it and note there must be a little or much romance in it ?.

Touching and relatable

This is one amazing plot. I highly recommend it. I just stumble upon this by chance. This drama is all about family and it conveys to be a family its not necessary to be blood related. Relationships are formed with emotion, care and love. It pulls at your heart strings. Loved all the 3 main characters. Steven Zhang is amazing and so cute. I have never been a Fan of seven tan but she did alright with her sun shine personality in the role. Song Weilong did justice to his broody and neglected traumatic child persona. All three deals with life in different ways. It is pretty good story, it has 40 episodes on viki but it does not feel like it drags or anything. In fact i felt they could have added couple of more.

Family show, at it's best, doesn't get better.

This is hands down one of the best family shows I have ever seen. The story and especially the characters are so well written, they all seem like real humans living life like everyone else, I was extremely happy with the way this show portrayed every kind of relationship with family. It was truly addictive and entertaining and made sure I cried BUCKETS of tears in most of the episodes, this much i have never cried while watching a show. I'll take a long time to get over this.
I would first like to start off with each and every character that I grew to love with the 40 episodes that I watched.
Li jianjian- she's literally one of the cutest female lead's I have ever seen! I'm so in awe of her. She's so sweet, optimistic and caring about her brothers and fathers. Shes so mature and supportive of everyone in her life and easily wins hearts of everyone.
Ling xiao - hes your typical brother who pretends to not care about you but does things for you secretly haha! I really liked his character too. The pain he went through really touched my heart and song wei long portrays this character so wonderfully even though hes like a 99 liner! Hes so young, yet so good at acting!
Ziqiu- I personally love ziqiu's character alot! He holds a special place in my heart. Hes such a sweet supportive brother! Always letting his sister do what she wants and cleaning up her mess! From when he was a child he was extremely mature and so sweet to everyone. I must say I cried the most for ziqiu. His story was truly so so emotional.
Li haichao- dad li is the best parent in dramaland, I'm not even kidding. Hes the best human and best dad. The love he has for his family is the definition of unconditional. His kindness is truly never seen before. I aspire to be like him in life. Always wishing well and taking care of others around him.
Ling heping- dad ling, even though wasnt around most of the time, he always cares for his kids, does small things and supports them. His small gestures towards his son really makes you see how good of a person he is.
Honestly, these are the main characters but even the side characters are dived deep into and we see them grow into better people too. This is one of the best parts of the show.
Story line of the show is perfectly paced, not too slow not to fast and timeline is also perfect ( 99,09,19). The show has perfectly portrayed everyone's stories with alot of details. We can see that the writer really worked hard to put together such a wonderful story.
Now for what really made me reduce my rating is the romance aspect. It's not that I hated the idea of it but the way they executed it really put me off. For a few episodes I was extremely confused. It just came out of nowhere and was rushed with a little bit of loopholes here and there. But after there 3 4 episodes I got used to it and moved on. I do understand the purpose of it though. Still could have been done better.
Other than this small thing that I didn't enjoy, this show was perfect. I literally reccomend everyone to watch it. It's a piece of art :)

A drama that hits deep into your heart and soul.

Go Ahead is one of those dramas whose story line draws you in. The drama itself is heartwarming, familial, and comical mixed with the struggles of reality, dreams and separation.

Acting/Cast/Characters: Each of the characters have their own color but the way each of the actors portrayed their character, you really feel their emotions and see everything from their own eyes. For me Ling Xiao's character itself was kind of bland and pitiable, but then the way Song Wei Long, was able to portray that pity in his character must have been no easy feat, so that is very commendable in my opinion. I have to really commend Steven Zhang though, he brought He Ziqiu to life and went over the top with his acting. By far, at least in my opinion He Ziqiu and Steven Zhang made this drama. Also if you hate or dislike a character, you know that the actress/actor is doing their job right!

Music: I am in love with the soundtrack that they used for this drama and each song that was played suited the scene well.

The only complaint I have for this drama was how they didn't show the repairing of the relationship between Ling Xiao's mother and Li JianJian. They could have extended it a little bit to show that part, but they didn't and instead they really rushed it.

Worth watching

This drama is full of emotions, from the very first episode you will find yourself hooked to this drama.
The storyline is quiet unique.

My most favourite character in this drama is female lead's father.

I must say actors , director and writer bring the box of every emotion, joy , sadness and love to our screens. What a beautiful drama.

Only thing i don't like is too many episodes. Some characters are bit cringe like male lead's Mother.

For me its a refreshing drama to watch in summer. Highly recommended.
