I have never been this impressed before.
A very wholesome and realistic slice of life, hands down this is the BEST family drama in cdrama history. The reason this drama reeled me in is the fact that it is incredibly practical and tackles real-life situations that we do not usually ponder about. Go Ahead made me reflected on myself and questioned the dynamic of family and kinship. I have laughed, cried, straight out bawled and cooed while watching the show. The plot is well written, it may be a little abrupt after they graduated from high school but they brought it back on track. It's like you can understand why each character has their own difficulties ya know?? No sudden prince charming to save the day but realistic human solutions. The romance part is also insanely cute so don't worry for yall romance suckers like me hehe. Not a single bit of regrets spending 40 eps with the cast!I really have to give props to the cast who brought each character to life, especially zhang xincheng who played ziqiu, he could convey his sorrow and pain with just his expressions. He portrayed this character so perfectly to the point that I can cry with just one line of his. Flawless, amazing acting.
This drama is really worth your time, you learn so many life lessons from it. I am a sucker for romance but I am so happy this drama developed many areas that made each element so much more meaningful. It revolves around family, kinship, friendship, romance, communication, forgiveness and understanding. Truly a work of art!

An actual Drama which actually deserve 10/10 Ratings!
Chinese drama has been making typical plot to their genre for ages.At least i think like that. Suppose if you are looking for Romance there are 8/10 which has nearly same plot. that's why i hardly follow any chinese drama. But But But.........Go Ahead is different. Not for it's Genre, It is Genre itself. This is the first time i have watched something different, something spectacular. Its having a quality that thrust itself into attention. While watching it you will be very nostalgic u'll cry,u'll laugh u'll miss your parents.
Every actors did their part fantastically. Not a single moment is boring. this is the first chinese drama i wanted more of it despite having 40 episode. The dynamic between their relationship is something really praiseworthy. Definitely a Historic drama it is!!!
Just trust me and Go for it ?

roller coaster of emotions but a must watch!!!!
so i have been dropping a lot of chinese dramas lately, they have just been recycling stories and don't get me wrong, with decent actors and good production it could still stick but must have been disappointing. so i decided to start this drama because of the good reviews and it started ok towards the 4th episode i felt maybe i would have to drop this too but from episode 6 chile i was hooked and finished this drama in one sitting. this is a new storyline that teaches family doesn't just mean related by blood.*pros*
1. The cute relationships are just pure bliss to watch, with the siblings, i wished i had elder brothers lol. Then there was the DADmance lol so cute. then the girlfriend/roommates very relatable lol.
2. I don't think Li Hai Chao got enough credit but he was too good to be true.... loving these kids unconditionally like his own without holding grudges or expecting anything in return.
3. The feels were real because the actors are daebak! i cried a lot and i laughed a lot too (Li jian jian can be a full blown clown without even knowing lol) kudos to all of the actors
4. The side stories were not mediocre, you know how chinese dramas have side characters and completely ignore them or maybe write some dumb story line for them... this was different. Everyone's story was loud enough for you to remember the characters and feel their joys and pains
5. The kisses yoo!!!! Song Wei Long has got to be my fav korean actor right now.... wheeew!
6. The ending was very satisfying, we thank the drama lords
7. The music omg.... i really love the intro song and i let it play out most times. (i usually skip for chinese dramas because they are so long)
*cons/rant*
1.Chen Ting
2.Chen Ting
3.Chen Ting
4.Chen Ting; Never have i ever encountered a selfish, infact wicked mother like her in any dramas.... omg i want to pull her hair, then she smiles like she is okay but she is really just looking for the next best way to frustrate her poor soon with her entitled a**. What's even worse is she never really got medical help for her mental state! her daughter would have made this list as well but she was just a poor victim in all of this.

More than a melodrama
This is more than a drama. It reflects so many aspects of reality that are not usually covered in one drama. Each character are wonderfully developed, which allows you to eventually love that character regardless of the shortcomings of that character because well, this drama taught you that no human are perfect. It potrayed a heartwarming story of how strong a bond can be and how a 'family' are not something that only requires blood relations . I would really recommend you to watch this! Cried a couple of times, because it is just that realistic! Was this review helpful to you?
THE FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS
This is one of the best dramas I've ever watched. It's definitely one of my top 3 favorites.Story: 9.9/10
The only reason why this doesn't get a 10/10 is because I didn't like some of the ending. Overall, the drama didn't have many fillers and it was really relatable and heartwarming. The character development in all the characters was perfect. I liked how the drama didn't just focus on the romance but zoomed in closer on the family relationships and friendships that grew alongside the couple. It was so deep and sometimes I wanted to jump through the screen to slap a person or give someone a hug.
Acting: 10/10
The family relationship between Li Jianjian and her dad WAS SO REAL. I could've mistaken it for a real father/daughter relationship. Tang Songyun's acting was on point (as always), though 30 she could portray a 15 year-old and you wouldn't even be able to know her real age. Song Wei Long was a little bit meh in the beginning but in the end I could really feel his emotions. Zhang Xingcheng was so goooooooood. There were multiple times where I wanted to sob because of how wonderful his acting was. All the friendships and family relationships were very realistic, relatable, and believable. I could go on and on about how good each and every character was at their portrayal but that would take forever.
Music: 10/10
I normally skip the openings to watch the drama but for all 40 episodes of this drama, not once did I press the fast forward button. And I tried searching the OST up on Spotify too (it's there). I just loved it that much.
Rewatch Value: 10/10
Heck yes. I already rewatched it again and I'll prob rewatch it like 10 more times and I'll still want to rewatch it.
Overall Rating: 10/10
There's something for everyone in here. There's females supporting females, there's healthy (and toxic) family relationships, loving bromance that will make you laugh, and a sweet romance. There's totally gonna be a lot of SLS though I promise you that. But I would definitely recommend this.

A bunch of strangers who were brought together to become of the most loving family.
Excellent cast, script and production. One of the best Chinese dramas this year. A drama that teaches one to reflect on the concept of family and family love. Character development is very well written, how each of the 3 siblings backgrounds, childhood experiences and parents moulded how they became as adults.. The child actors were awesome and I was drawn deeply from the start. I was afraid the adult actors would ruin the show later but no, they continued to shine in their roles, bringing each character further. The female lead character Li Jian Jian, played by the child actress and then Seven Tan, was awesome. She's such a joy to watch. There isn't really a bad person in the show, other than the mother who was so annoying. Even the side characters are pretty strong and great to watch. I shall not reveal too much. If you've got some time for a feel good family drama, you should watch this! Was this review helpful to you?
Heartwarming, the romance was a bonus.
I did not expect to like this as much as I did. Seven Tan, Steven Zhang and Song Wei Long performed their roles wonderfully. I also really loved Daddy Ling and Daddy Li. Daddy Li was like the mother of their family. The storytelling was perfect. It portrayed how the three kids became so close when they were children and HS students, that there was awkwardness when they met again in their mid20s but still was able to overcome that and became close again. The actions of all characters were pretty understandable, even that of Xiao's mother and Ziqui's father, characters I did not like. I also understand the resolution of the love triangle since Ziqui's anchor was Daddy Li while Xiao's was Jianjian. Was this review helpful to you?
Wholesome Family Drama
I love the storyline! This drama covers family, friendship, love and teaches many many lessons! The 5 main leads has THE BEST CHEMISTRY, They are really comfortable with each other and really come off as a family. Tan Song yun may be the oldest but she really fit perfectly in the youngest sister role! It's just so cute to watch her interact with her 2 brothers! The bromance between the 2 guys is really great as well! The 2 dads are really so cute to watch as they show how love can be expressed differently. They showcase a lot of different perspectives of parent-child relationship which is eye opening. As someone who loves light hearted rom-coms this is one of my favorite dramas, with sufficient romance to satify my little heart.
For those who worry about second male lead syndrome happening in this drama (me), do not worry it is minimal which makes it so much easier to watch!
A must watch for everyone as it is really a heartwarming drama to watch about the importance of family!

The best family drama I have seen lately,
Interesting & flowing story, great acting . It took me 3 days (after finishing working & into late night hours) to watch al 40 ep, I was hooked from the very first episode and was not disappointed throw all way until the end.Ling Xiao, second brother He Ziqiu, and youngest sister Li Jianjian played their roll so well, but my most praised was papa Li. He was the one who was the glue and the guide for all. I loved the way that many stories where connected and created a full picture,
I will probably watch it all again or at least the favorite parts.
highly recommended

I'd watch this all over again.
I always get back to this drama since it finished. One of the best Asian dramas which is meaningful, and heartwarming. Each character is presented so well, their growth, their bond...imperfectly perfect. What they go through is something the viewers can relate to and understand. The OST and background music 10/10!
And the food they show, ahh 10/10.
Mixed emotions hit every episode. The same episode will get you crying, laughing, enraging, then again laughing.
Well done, writer!

A MUST WATCH DRAMA - SO FAR THE BEST CDRAMA I HAVE WATCHED
Go Ahead is so far the best cdrama I have watched. I cannot count how many times this drama made me cry and laugh at the same time. The moments especially with their parents are making me emotional. It shows us how parents have different ways to take care of their kids. Tbh, this drama made me realize a lot of things esp with Ming Yue's mom which we can all agree that it's the most realistic one. JJ's dad made me cry a lot of times and reminded me of my dad so much. Kudos to the team and casts!! The chemistry between the leads are superb, even the child actors are amazing, they did so well. I hope to see more dramas like this that touches everyone's heart ?Was this review helpful to you?
Thumbs up all round - intense emotions, humour, lessons in relationships, portrayal of personalities
Three kids lost their mothers through three different circumstances - deaths, abandonment, divorce. The two fathers combined their efforts to be both mothers and fathers to the three. They grew up in the solace of each other and became closer than real brothers and sister. Unfortunately, their biological father and mother came back to claim them when they were teenagers and tore them apart. They re-united nine years laters but became strangers with their own careers and interest. How were they to deal with their new relationship? Watch the drama to find out. This drama takes you through a lot of heart rending moments, especially when the little He Ziqiu (acted by Li Zhen Zhen) looked so adorable and so pitiful when the mother left him. I literally wished I could give him a hug and tell him everything was going to be alright. When one of the fathers started pouring out his grief that outsiders kept reminding him he was not the real father, it was so heart-breaking. I don't cry easily but find myself wiping off tears at a number of moments. And how the siblings and fathers were there for each other at times of trials were heart-warming.
But there were also a lot of short comic relief and hilarious moments like the sister gave each brother a red underwear to wear to their university entrance exams and insisted they showed her they were wearing it for good luck. When the brothers started fighting for the affection of their sister and became jealous when she dated someone else, it was quite hilarious.
This drama was outstanding in portraying different characters and personalities. You also get to see the mums and dads in modern China and their different characters. There was the tiger mum who plans everything for their daughter only to have her daughter secretly defying her plans. There was the scheming mother who wanted to win back her son only to harm him further. There was the self-sacrificing mother who kept her secret from him so that he could have a good upbringing. There was the pair of parents who wanted their daughter to become a celebrity actress only to end up sabotaging her career.
I could see shadows of Chinese mothers I had encountered in these characters.
Then there were the fathers - a motherly loving one, a busy policeman with no time for his family, a selfish money-minded father who turned out to better than expected, a seemingly loving father who actually was a conflict avoidance personality. Of course, there were the minor characters - the nosy and gossipy neighbours.
Aside from the portrayal of different characters and personalities in modern day China, there was also the portrayal of its culture. Money was quite openly discussed - unlike the Anglo-Saxon culture which avoid talking about money. There was also that filial piety culture which made it really difficult for children to shake off the domination of disastrous and troublesome parents - in a western culture, the children likely leave home after 18 and ignore their parents if they are tiresome, or parents might just chase their children out once they become adults.
This drama was also quite philosophical. In the conversations and discussions, there were also lessons of parenting - when to be there for the kids and when to cut some slack, as well as advice for interpersonal relations such as friends, siblings and lovers.
All the actors and actresses portrayed their characters perfectly and the story is very realistic.
For all these, I give this a perfect 10, one of very few dramas that I awarded this.
