I gave the series a second chance after 4 years.

Story:

Nothing New Under the Sun, a funny and routine Japanese romance. It includes ALL possible tropes (serious car accident, one partner being ill and the other taking care of them, love triangle, stalker, one of the partners needing to study abroad, the shared futon forcing them to get closer, amusement park, the infamous ice cream accident, everything, everything, everything).

It is very reminiscent of the series "They Kiss Again" with the clumsy, unintelligent woman who makes mistakes and falls in love with an intelligent, apathetic, and even somewhat mean doctor. In the end, after much persistence and tireless efforts, she captures his heart.
Is it possible to capture the heart of someone out of our league? It is only possible in Asian movies.

Christian and educational aspect seen in Japanese series, and it is evident here as well. This worked well up to episode 6, combining humor and excitement, butterflies in the stomach, and tears, as it is still a hospital drama and something always happens.

As you grow older, you realize that the figure of the Virgin Mary( FL) represents the qualities that will bring you love and blessings in life. On the other hand, as you age, it becomes increasingly difficult to accept this figure because you discover your own flaws and your inability to be like the Virgin Mary, even when you try very hard. This can create frustration, and it’s intriguing to think about how the average Japanese person feels when this is constantly imposed on them. It's not easy. On the other hand, you can't judge it because a person (at least a normal one) aspires to this highest good.

Actors:

The actors are excellent, the main actor less so; he has moments where he feels like a manga character more than necessary, but later he loosens up.
The lead actress is excellent.
They have electrifying chemistry and are very compatible in the intimate scenes; it is noticeable to the extent that it is hard to understand why because it's a very handsome guy and a cute and average girl, not feminine, very unkempt. She very much resembles the actress Yoon Eun Hye at the beginning of her career, especially her smile, but the Korean actress was really attractive and appealing, she had something very feminine about her. In contrast, the Japanese actress is not attractive at all, and her clothing is not appealing either. But it's also something beyond that makes her physically less attractive. This is not accidental and comes up in one of their scenes.

Music:

The music is excellent, very invested and beautiful in various scenes; it works great. Towards the end, less so, and this happens a lot when they start overusing the main song just to play it.

Can you rewatch it? Yes, you can.
I think only their intimate scenes are worth rewatching because they are both full of passion and humor.

What doesn't work as well?

The endless collection of tropes and the continuous educational series that goes on and on, reaching the point where it becomes tedious and you have to skip scenes, until it really becomes a bit tiresome, which is a shame because until episode 6, it kept the flame alive. But from episode 7, there were scenes that should have been skipped, especially the car accident and the long study trip. It wasn't executed gracefully enough to watch like at the beginning. This series is not timeless; it also does not feature anything special except for the cute moments between them. I don't think they are capable of breaking out of their tropes, but still, I think that if there are already tropes, they should have added more lightness.

Camp so much camp

Thsi is so campy but in a good way. The story is really cute . The lead actress did a great job bringing her role to life she nailed innocent but also courageous when it came to what she wanted so well. Thats not always easy to do and the lead actor was so good he nailed his role. Im being vague I know but I dont like to give spoilers because it ruins it for people who are first time watchers so all ill say is this is a cute sweet campy love story worth watching and its really good for partners who like to watch series together.

Sure it's old-fashioned and full of cliches, but sometimes that's exactly what you need . . . .

When 'Demon' doctor Tendou Kairi is about to be too overbearing, and callous for words, he all of a sudden does or says something incredibly romantic, kind or protective. This addictive formula creates an enjoyable 10 episode series. There is a lot of screen time between the leads, creating emotional and physical chemistry. This romance was fully fleshed out compared to series double the length.

Yes, there is a large age gap (I'm guessing about 10 years), a power dynamics issue (he's one of the lead doctors in her department, and whilst she is technically managed by the head nurse, he has a lot of power over her workload), and an experience issue (he has romantic and sexual relationship experience, she does not). But, I actually never felt like a boundary was crossed in practice. He never removed her from work or put her on work based on their romantic relationship, jealousies etc., he didn't pressure her into sex.

In the end, you get to feel the vicarious thrill of your first romance being the best romance with a man you think is attractive, competent, wealthy and powerful, and willing to change and give it all up for you. It's exactly what an old-school shoujo should do, and I enjoyed every minute of it.

nice garbage

I went in knowing this would be good in the way that taco bell is good: actually really bad if you think about it, but fun at the time. I think my expectations were in the right place and I found it a mostly enjoyable distraction, and it did actually get a little bit better as the episodes went on.

It had ever shoujo troupe in the book, so much so I started a note in my phone to track which troupes I thought they would use and I had a 75% prediction accuracy. There's a place in the world for silly little shows like this, and I respect it. Two years from now I'll completely forget this thing even existed, and that's okay.

This drama makes a bunch of stuff right and only minor things wrong. It is a great mix for people like me, who like stuff that is; funny, serious, a bit emotional, inspiring, fluffy, light and entertaining, with great, likeable, interesting, lovely and supportive characters. On top of this, it also serves: a sizzling chemistry, a ML that melts heart 24/7 and a fun OST.

In detail:

+ I started this show very spontaneously, although it was on my PTW for quite a while. It hooked me immediately. Usually I prefer dramas with shorter episodes, because my concentration is really poor and I often check, how much of an episode is left. I didn't do this here. Not for a single episode. I was so immersed in the drama and it was so much fun to watch, that I was surprised at the end of every episode, when it was already over. I wasn't bored at all.
+ At first I was a bit intimidated by the long castlist, but you get very fast and easily used to all important characters, so it is even more fun to follow their stories.
+ The changing hospital patients keep the show interesting!
+ The OST is really nice! I like the vibe of the song. I had to constantly remind myself that this drama is from 2020 though, because it definitely gave me older vibes - not complaining about it.
+ Not. a. single. annoying. character. I usually roll my eyes when I read stuff like this, but I didn't anyone annoying. Actually, everyone had reasons for their behaviour that probably anyone can understand somehow. The characters are likeable, lovely and veeeery supportive most of the time, which made the drama easy to watch, since I was interested in everyones story.
+ The show serves a pleasent combo of funny and serious moment. I cried my eyes out in Episode 2. T_T and also in other episodes I got a little bit teary.
+ Low angst. I almost hate angst, because nowadays it is always created by unnessecary stupid drama. But this show is long on angst and doesn't serve stupid drama!
+ Eyecandy on every corner. For real. Every episode we get another serving of a hot male popping up out of nowhere. I was very pleased. :') Therefore: Tendo is outrageous attractive. His facial expressions, body language and way of speaking melted my brain several times.
+ The nicknames for the leads are funny and Sakura made me snort several times, when she wore the hero outfit.
+ There are so many cute things hidden in little details. (Did anyone else noticed the rice cooker in episode 8? I was never this sad to see a freaking rice cooker. x))
+ The acting was quite nice. I am a bit hard to please, when it comes to leads, because I like a bit of a complex power dynamic, but I don't like it much, if it comes off as one-sided love, because one lead is just an ass and treats the other part like shit. Or when one of them is just head over heels and stupid asf, at best combined with low self-esteem and we have a character I hate with all my heart. T_T :D Characters like Sakura are often annoying and too dumb, to be likeable for me. But Sakura is very balanced. They don't drag her clumsiness too far, which I really appreciate. :D Tendo had enough subtle moments, that showed, that he cares for her, so he didn't come off as too cold/harsh/desinterested. And I really really liked the fact that he always accepted her the way she is and didn't demand her to change. That was absolutely wholesome!
+ Some people might dislike it, but I am a sucker for "All males like the female lead". I can't get enough of a little jealousy and it was greatly delivered here.

+- While I liked the pacing in general, the pacing for the second and third couple was a bit too slow. Especially with the third one doesn't happen much, but that's not really something I would criticize too much. It's not really disturbing or annoying.
+- And while I know that Tendos character is build on being a Tsundere, I would have wished for a liiiittle more affection and sweet moments between them.
- I also got very annoyed by the constant interruptions all the time. This is something that gets frustrating in the long run.
- We have a good count of kisses, but unfortunately I didn't find them very appealing. Somehow a bit lackluster on the females side. I know she is the type of character for kisses like this, but at least one passionate kiss would have been nice.
- Minor continuity editing mistakes and some weird slomo, which was sometimes a bit awkward.

So all in all, its nothing new, but it uses known tropes in the right way and creates a show that kept me hook through all the 10 episodes, which is very very rare. I LOVE the low angst aspect and that there is no annoying character, who ruins the show. I felt so at ease watching this show and I would definitely recommend it!

Can they date when they even don't know their feelings

I found fl a bit too much like she does not have any self respect and like imposing herself on him. And I could not get the point why he agreed to date her when he did not like her(it just seemed to me). Yeah he liked her when they started hanging out after dating. BUT before dating they don't have any sweet moments or that loving gaze towards each other; from which we take the hint that ml is actually interested in fl. He just saw her working hard which is nothing to do with his own personal feelings. Same case with that Nishi and Ryuku*.

Cute jdrama....!!!

I will keep it short review this time.....after watching heavy dosage dramas...this drama gave me a kind of break from them....its light weight drama...likeable and enjoyable drama...!!!

They are some plots or a part of story where you will have questions or feel thats stupidity but at the end after few scenes it turns into something meaningful or just changes your view....!!!

The cast of this drama did pretty good job in playing their roles... And its not easy to show nervousness, awkwardness so accurate like what the female lead acted...All other chatacters are so cute and lovely. They did really good job. Ost isnt much but you will like it!!! The cast of the drama is well chosen i must say.

All i want to say is that it's worth of your time drama!!! Atleast for me , i had a good time and i enjoyed it alot!! I hope you all like the drama!!!

Baka!

I think I made an audible squee at one point

I have two new life goals; 1) find myself a doctor to glare at me in with a glorious tsundere smoulder. Or 2) become a drunken older sister to someone and provide dubious yet practical life advice.

My first j-drama, wanted something short to fill in the time while I wait for my more typical cdrama to finish airing to do the usual binge watch. So I jumped into this little rabbit hole because who can turn down an aloof doctor
….I have no regrets…flow, flowers of moe, flow….

Perfect Drama!

This drama was absolutely adorable!! I watched the entire thing in less than 24 hours because I was so into it! You know a show is good if I binge watch it in one day!!
This show is actually like “Mischievous Kiss” (my all time favorite Japanese drama look it up if you haven’t watched it!), And specifically the Japanese adaptation not the other country adaptations! There are little scenes and instances that are almost identical and it makes me wanna watch Mischievous Kiss AGAIN for the 5th time!
The acting was very comedic at times and then really moving when it needed to be! I definitely cried a couple times as well! (THERE ARE MOMENTS THAT INCLUDE SUICIDE THAT MIGHT TRIGGER SOME PEOPLE SO YOU’VE BEEN WARNED!!)
I cried so hard on episode 2 (I’m not saying why!! You’ll have to find out yourself~) Also the romance scenes!?! Omg I COULDN’T WAIT for the romance scenes to happen! They were so sweet! I got butterflies every time!! The kiss scenes felt so real, you could feel the love they had for each other through the screen!! The way the ML looked at the FL made me squeal!! And the main couple happened so fast so there’s no excess waiting where by the last 2 episodes they get together, nope! They were together and had such a strong relationship early on!! I would definitely recommend watching this! Overall it’s a sweet tear jerker that makes me want to find a love like the main couple!

This honesty has to be the best Japanese Drama that I have seen so far. Even behind is 'Devil" façade you can still see that he cares for her.
She defiantly has the dedication to continue to go after him even after all the rude things he calls her, but it also helps her grow (not that I'm condemning his words to her and putting her down so many times emotionally.)
I love how short and sweet it was. With the amount of 10 episodes it was able to explain the obstacles she had to get through but not too in-depth that there's any hatred for the supporting characters.

Great acting and intertwined stories

Intro :
I genuinely liked this drama and binge-watched it in a day. I think the reason I like Japanese dramas more than Korean is that the story is not unnecessarily dragged and expresses so much story, emotion and whatnot in less than 15 episodes (mostly).

What I did not like :
I think at the starting of the story the FL lacked individuality because everything she was doing was to gain the attention and love of the ML and hence lacked purpose /reason for being a nurse.

What I liked :
The stories of so many characters are expressed through one drama. In most dramas, it is usually just the main lean and second lead's story that is highlighted. But here even the other characters had strong stories, and some even brought tears to my eyes.

Rewatch value:
I think it is surely something I see myself rewatching later because there are many cute scenes in the drama and it is not very long too.

Outro:
If you are new to J-dramas and wondering if you should watch it... I would say go for it

This drama has a cliched premise that reminds me of Mischievous Kiss, where it’s a female lead who chases after a cold male lead but they actually start dating fairly quickly and the plot doesn’t drag.

I like that once they started dating he always reassures when she doubts their relationship and despite his aloof personality, he does show that he likes her… mainly by kissing her. She’s so forward and keeps liking him despite being brutally rejected at the beginning but yet gets discouraged so easily and doubts a lot once they actually start dating. But other than her lack of confidence in herself and always putting herself down, Nanase is a great female lead.

She makes mistakes and isn’t perfect but she also cares for her patients, notices things others don’t and is super hardworking. I think having the other new nurse Sakai there as a contrast really highlights Nanase’s strengths and shows that you can be a good nurse even if you’re not perfect technically.

Nanase and Tendo are also a great couple. Other than their crazy amazing chemistry, you can see the two characters progress through the show and how they help each other. Nanase becomes a great nurse thanks to her hard work and his mentorship and he starts to not just focus on work and have some joy in his life.

Sometimes I don’t care about couples anymore after they’re already together and it feels like the plot isn’t moving but they are such a cute couple and I would watch a second season. And the scene when he finally confesses his feelings is really cute. The ML starts as an icicle and fully thaws out. Fully.

It’s not perfect but I think I would still give the drama an 8 in terms of likeability. Its a good length, doesn’t drag, and the main couple have loads of chemistry. I tried to read the manga before and dropped it, but maybe I’ll give it another try. I've also found myself singing the theme song at random times since I finished the show a few days ago, which I think is a sign of how much the show sticks with you.
