A boy in black stands in the dark. A little girl lies motionless, like a doll, at his feet. The boy takes a saw from his bag. Kusakabe Yoko, who is out of work, visits the Mikoshiba Law Office. When she enters, she encounters Mikoshiba Reiji. Mikoshiba immediately hires her without even seeing her resume. After court, Yoko witnesses Mikoshiba being being accused of being the devil by a woman for winning the case acting as defense for the supposed bully accused of leading the woman's child to suicide. Mikoshiba is apparently someone that would lead the client to victory in return for a large amount of compensation. Mikoshiba tells Yoko that he will do anything to get what he wants. Mikoshiba gets interested in the murder trial against a woman named Tsuda Akiko in Tokyo. She was accused of killing her husband and reportedly trying to abandon her children after having an affair. She's greatly disliked by the public. Mikoshiba decides to take her case, greatly confusing Horai as he is choosing to defend an ordinary housewife. Meanwhile, Misaki Kyohei, the second prosecutor of the Tokyo District Public Prosecutor's Office, is informed that Mikoshiba has taken the case. In return, he decides to take up the prosecution due to his grudge against Mikoshiba for getting a charge overturned in an appeal. Mikoshiba begins to look into Akiko's case, including going to her home to look over the scene. The court is shocked when Mikoshiba makes his opening statement "The defense counsel claims that the defendant, Tsuda Akiko, is innocent due to the absence of murderous intentions!" What is Mikoshiba's aim? The astonishing court mystery begins!
