first Cdrama that i watch until the end and never skip every scene!

first, i watched this drama because of LinYi, but, never espect the drama will addicting me.

the story is so smooth like waves on a calm sea. not too fast and not too slow, I think for 31 episodes the plot is pretty perfect. every episode give me great curiosity, especially the early episodes when Lu Jing and Liang Chen act like they aren't now each other. ITS so intense. and the middle of the episode is very entertaining and interesting, warm love story, don't forget to the Kiss scene!! Its so hot omg. really, i cry three+ time for this drama, even when it gets close to ending I'm cry? the final scene also really touched me i never feel that when watched Cdrama until found this drama. thx for the screenwriter, producer, crews and actress, you have done your best!

chemistry between main lead is so strong! i can feel their feeling to each other. Lin Yi and Xulu did best in this drama, i love them so much. and now i became their fans. their cacting is bvery natural for me, very good!

i love the ost, i downloaded all of them. my fav ia you have me and dancing an the winter.

very interesting drama, I don't even mind if I have to watch it again without skipping. BEST!

LOVE THIS SO MUCH!

Eye-candy Drama. Another decent drama once again!

Let's start with LIKES:

1. STORY
So far I love the story a lot. It's an old idea, but they've added new things to it and the execution feels fresh. I especially love the surge of older women younger guy roles I've been seeing lately, mainly as characters, sometimes irl, or both, LOL. It's refreshing.

2. ACTING
Lin Yi's acting has also improved here, and so has his appearance like damn ?. LuLu Xu is also p good. But I've seen her in Sunshine Of My Life (airing time overlapped with this drama i think) and I think I like her there better tbh. I'll get to that in dislikes.

3. MUSIC is OK
it's kinda the standard sounding Chinese female voice singing thing. Tbh in all Chinese dramas the songs kind of sound the same to me, esp the female voice its sang in, so this makes no real difference tbh. But I didn;t notice anything i DISLIKED about it, so that counts for something. And the main songs are very catchy. A score i think is very good (or at least more experimental or that actually made an impression on me, rofl) is the score in The Long Ballad.

4. Filmed nicely
idk shit about cinematography, but it was nice; for the vid game scenes they're done well. Lin Yi's action acting and stunts were a lil wonky XD But i'll forgive him since he's a young and newer actor. And he did seem to have charisma/confidence while doing them, so he's done half the work already XD The fact that the actual video game interface isn't really.....filmed though (besides the standard blue glowy sci fi text and shapes thing) is something that I'm always acutely aware of XD. But i dont mind--whose gonna devote budget to that if its for supporting cast scenes? all the main cast video game scenes are actual filmed scenes. so its cool

I DISLIKE:
1. The FL's indecisiveness
Something tells me the FL is going to be one of the biggest factors as to why this series will be so drawn out, and why the progression of their relationship has been so frustratingly slow so far. At first I thought she was going to be very badass and assertive---after all, she works in show biz, she has to be able to fend for herself. And she can. But when it comes to relationships, she's a little indecisive. Maybe she's scared of relationships and being hurt (which makes sense) but I'm still annoyed lmao. Multiple times the ML has given her hints that he knows its her who he's been talking to online, and up to I think to the end of ep 11 or start of 12, she was still questioning it??

2. The Progression for the first few eps is PAINFUL.
Luckily if you're reading this now, u cannot repeat the same msitake i amde which was to watch this show WHILE AIRING. this show is def binge, skip material for certain parts. Especially between 8 and 12 if memory serves. But if u have patience, disregard this. It's 31 eps, I knew what I was getting into. BUT they didn't have ANY OTHER thing to extend the episode count, than making this stupidly repetitive "does he know its me" and "won't they will they"??

Editing this review poast-finishing the drama, I can definitely say that this was a ride, but it was refreshing, light and enjoyable. (But light without the heft 31 episodes. By the 20s everything goes by in a flash though).

The rewatch value for this is high because then you can just skip through all the unnecessary things, thus skipping the flaws lol.

outside of all that, I like this drama. Its the perfect eye-candy drama, if you're just looking for a light story, with light drama in between, video game/ mostly action scenes, and an attractive cast. The action scenes cud be better imo, but II'll give the benefit of the doubt here. I think Love Scenery is fun, and the visuals (both the actors, outfits, and the video game scenes) makes it worth it.

Overall rating: 7.8
u dont get extra brownie points for being an eye-candy drama smh

Great chemistry, simple story

Loved the chemistry of the two main leads, the support of their friends and family, and relatively believable portrayal of the environment. Storyline was simple, and had a natural progression. ML+FL support each other, recognizing that they each have their own lives/careers and can overcome obstacles together. One plausible misunderstanding that is resolved very reasonably and quickly. I particularly liked the phase between him knowing who she is and her admitting she knows (this is the only part I'm likely to rewatch).

They avoided most of the really annoying features of cDrama. For example, no accidental kisses or scary MIL. No weird evil characters undermining anyone. No stupid breakups. Playing the musical instruments mostly lined up with the soundtrack.

I liked PYOMS for similar reasons, and enjoyed the growth of Lin Yi (ML actor).

Dislikes
* Creepy SML -- actor is 23 years older than FL actress, and he looks even older than that.
* Boring second couple -- ShanShan's backstory took way too long to explore. Both characters very one-dimensional to the point it became annoying and I skipped most of their scenes. No chemistry either.
* Episode 28's hotel scene was completely out-of-line with characters and the main relationship story arc. ML+FL had been very comfortable to this point expressing feelings outloud. In this episode, they both drink to overcome nerves. She never drinks, and he'd never hide, so it was awful to watch.

Very sweet rom com dragged down by 2OTP

I really enjoyed this drama for the simple reason that it was not dramatic. That was an odd statement to make, I know. :)
This drama was definitely not attached to reality as it matched up a male god with a slightly older goddess and they lived happily ever after. On top of that, half the show was set in a PC game world. Total fantasy but it was surprisingly good.
This is not the first show with the back drop being a game but this show did it with style. They didn't try to make the game realistic but they used it to set up some crazy scenarios. Think James Bond meets Romancing the Stone. As they technically met online, the meet-cute was done in game and there were many funny and cute moments. Unfortunately, the game scene faded away about mid show. I missed some of that surreal wackiness.

Once they did meet up in real life, the romance really kick started and they were so sweet and cute together. The ML was really forthright with his pursuit of the FL which was refreshing. The show did have its fair share of clichés but I appreciate that they didn't succumb to tropey pressure to break them up. Every time their relationship was tested, they resolved the issues fairly quickly and their relationship grew even stronger. So many lovey-dovey moments and they have a mature approach to skinship. They really acted like a couple in love. Swoon.

What I didn't like was the 2OTP. I understand a second and even a third pairing is the norm but this show just took a strange line with the 2OTP. Yes, they started on the wrong foot and it was definitely more hate than love but I just can't ship this CP. The 2ML was just pathetic. He came across as weak, desperate and somewhat annoying. The 2FL had so much emotional baggage that she could have opened her own storage facility! It literally took them the whole show to get together and a) there was no time left for any sweet moments with them and b) I stop caring a long time ago.

The acting from the OTP was very good. The ML has matured in age and acting ability since his "Rest Your Head on My Shoulder" days. He is handsome and he can act cute so well. No stoney face ML thanks. The FL is a professional singer and that helped to bring a lot of the singing and performance scenes to life. This also contributed to a better than average OST. They really worked on the sound track and lifted the the show. Cinematography was good and interesting, sets and costumes well above average. It was a polished product.

There was a lot of growth, healing and closure so you felt good after watching this. This positivity made it easy to rewatch it for the sweet romance. of the OTP Just fast forward the 2OTP scenes and life will be even sweeter.

Peak Romance

If I could erase my memories anytime I wanted to and be able to forget everything that had happen in this show, I would have lost my mind just so I can rewatch this show again and again. This Chinese drama is something that I find most beautiful, interesting, and above all memorable. This show made me understand more about love basically how unpredictable it can be despite our circumstances with those who we cherish most. Further more, the love that is filled inside us would open up when the time comes, its just a matter of love that the right one would come eventually and will forever change our lives. The way the story progressed was beautiful all throughout. It was cute watching Lu Jing (Lin Yi) and Liang Cheng (Xu Lu) engage into to a journey of a lifetime. How Lu Jing and Liang progress romantically, fall in love, watching them face their struggles together, and everything in between. Despite their age differences they were still able to love and understand each other fully giving us a very beautiful plot along the way. I just loved everything about this show. The story, the OSTs, the characters, you name it. Not only was this show very likable, but it was also super easy to watch. It really stood out in terms of simplicity, which proves that all shows does not require heavy writing or having a deep plot, sometimes it only requires a simple story that is easy to watch and understand for it to stand out. This show will really leave you wanting more. This is not just your typical love story. It also portrays a very real life love triangle with depth and well thought out characters. It is a very beautiful drama that expresses its feelings most of us cannot simply express in words. But through gaming and music. All emotions whether happy or sad have been expressed really beautifully. 10/10

The first Chinese drama that makes me want to keep watching

•. STORY
From a story standpoint, it's very interesting. For the first time I watched a Chinese drama where the relationship development of each character was very neat. Not too fast or too slow. It's great because I can feel how they fall in love with each other.

I also got mixed up a few times. when liang chen hid his identity from lujing it made me excited, Annoyed and want to keep watching it. Then when they know each other's identity but are just silent it's the most adorable part. Haha I laughed a lot seeing them avoiding each other

And after they got close, I was scared because of their difference in status and age. I was made to cry in several scenes when they were forced to separate. When liang chen found out that lujing was going abroad, and lujing waited for liangchen under the snow, It makes me cry so hard.

Lots of kiss scenes, and romantic scenes. Their interactions make me smile all the time. This is very nice. Even until the end, I wasn't bored by the conflict which was so eye-catching. I Made to cry and laugh a few times. Even when I was about to finish I cried so loudly, when the plane that Lujing was riding was about to fall.

The ending is so cool, I've never seen it in another drama, so cool and great! Even I can't move on until now.

• Cast/Acting
Xulu's acting as liang chen is very good,I could sense that liang chen was very ambitious and didn't give up easily. I'm even amazed by liang chen's character. Because of this drama I like Xulu, she is a great actress!

Linyi's acting as lu jing is very good too. he plays the smart and adorable underclassman very well. I can feel how he admires liang chen. How lujing chased liang chen, and cared for liang chen was very clear. It makes me happy.

The acting of all the roles is very good.

Just an okay drama.

I chanced upon this drama and yup, I decided to watch it after reading the excellent reviews shared.

However, I was kind of disappointed with this show as I have definitely watched better dramas than this.

I’m going to share my honest review with my frank thoughts and feelings.

Watch because:
- Easy and mindless show with very little angst.
- Leads are easy on the eyes.
- I don’t find the male lead particularly handsome but he is tall and young and well-built.
- The female lead grows on you and as you watch, she seems to become more attractive.
- The main songs in this show are sung by excellent female singers irl with powerful vocals; I really enjoyed listening to the songs and I’m listening to the OST!
- Ending is quite happy.

But,
- there isn’t much plot or suspense.
- the other actors and actresses are kind of annoying especially the ‘second’ female lead of sorts called Ma Shan Shan in the show; she was, to me, insufferable because she was totally trapped in the past due to a pointless past relationship that didn’t make sense to me at all. Get out of the rut already! She was a pain to watch and she wasn’t attractive either.
- some parts of the show did not make sense to me: the female lead is a big star but there are hardly any paparazzi.
- the online game that they play in the show isn’t exciting and is honestly, quite a bore to watch them in the game.

On the whole, I’d give it a max score of 7.5/10. My partner says that 7/10 is the max he’d give.
There are other much better shows with more exciting storylines.
Tip/ Advice - watch this on 1.25 speed.

Reminds Me Of Love 020

One of the things that strike me when I watched Love Scenery is its similarity with Love 020 especially in the beginning stages. Both dramas have a gaming theme and the way the game is presented is also the same. Rather than showing viewers computer graphics, the leads take on the game characters instead. Hence, there is some fun and flirting going on during the game sessions which is unlike Go Go Squid! whereby the gaming aspect is much more serious.

Personally, this kind of presentation is interesting initially but after a few episodes, it starts to get repetitive for me. If you like how it was done in Love 020, you most probably would like Love Scenery as well. But if you don’t, I guess you can skip these scenes or use the fast forward button and not miss anything much. The good thing is the online game will take a backseat once the leads know who the other is behind the username.

No Groundbreaking Plot
Love Scenery is not the type of romance that you watch for the plot. Basically, the story is nothing extraordinary. In fact, some might even find it boring because there is really nothing much going on throughout the 31 episodes. There is hardly any bickering unlike Hello Mr. Gu. So, if you like more “drama” to your romance, Love Scenery is not the one to watch as it is more towards the plain sailing type just like My Little Happiness.

There is little angst and anxiety in the story which makes it a great choice if you want a stress-free drama that feels sweet. Even if the girl is older than the guy in the story, the age gap is not the focus of the drama. Just like in Go Go Squid 2, it does get mentioned but it is never a hindrance to the romance.

Thus, the love story of the main couple is more towards finding out each other’s identity followed by the wooing phase and then getting together. Once they start dating, the focus shifts to the 2 lovers learning to get along and supportive of each other with sweet moments in between. With no extreme ups and downs to the romance, it should resonate with those looking for a simple love story.

Chemistry Between The Leads
Many viewers are raving about the great chemistry between Lulu Xu and Lin Yi in Love Scenery. So, if you can feel the sparks between the leads, it doesn’t really matter anymore if the plot is light and thin. After all, a romance drama’s selling point tends to be the leads’ chemistry rather than the plot.

For me, their chemistry is sizzling in some scenes especially the kissing ones, but not in others. It is pretty obvious that she is older than him which is fine with me though which is why I could sit through all the way to the end. But if you are not into an older woman and younger man romance, Love Scenery might just fall short especially when he keeps addressing her as senior in the drama. That takes away some of the chemistry for me too although overall, they did well enough to make me cross the finish line.

My Verdict – Nothing Special
I think 31 episodes is really stretching things a little too far for this drama. With a thin plot, the last few episodes aren’t really necessary to me. It is not a drama that I would re-watch as it is kind of forgettable after the last scene is over and done with. While the chemistry is good, Love Scenery is really for those into plain-sailing romance who just want to watch a couple simply falling in love and dating and nothing more. There is some comedic element provided by the supporting characters to lighten the mood further for a rom-com feel but the focus doesn’t really run away from the main couple’s relationship.

Personally, I would prefer to watch Lulu Xu and Zhang Han in Sunshine Of My Life. This is because there is more to the story there and the romance feels more realistic and matured although the progress is kind of slow. I guess it depends on your liking for more youthful romance or otherwise. I would think Love Scenery will resonate more with the younger crowd with a college student being the main male character compared to a CEO in Sunshine Of My Life.

For this Love Scenery review, I think a score of 7/10 would be fair. I can’t give it any higher with such a thin plot. Watch it if you like simplicity in your romance with no toxic third parties and parental disapprovals. If you can also feel the chemistry between the leads, that would lift the drama up considerably and makes it worth the ride. Otherwise, it could be a boring one to sit through.

Watch if there’s nothing else and you want to see good looking young actors with decent chemistry.

I binge watched until the 24th episode which was all that had aired at the time of writing this review and realized there is nothing compelling me to wait for the rest of the show to air.
I went into this expecting nothing much and it pretty much went as expected.

Things I liked:
1) Good looking young actors and pretty good cinematography and visuals. I haven’t watched any of either Lin Yi or Lulu Xu’s
works before and they were a delight to watch on screen. They had pretty decent chemistry (though nothing close to
Sandra Ma and Bai Jingting’s chemistry in You are my Hero) and they were the only thing that kept me watching for 24
episodes even though nothing interesting was happening in the story.
2) The gaming elements they incorporated into the episodes were enjoyable to watch.
3) The bits when the FL was performing on stage were fun to watch and the OST is okay. It could’ve been a lot better
considering the show focuses on music but I enjoyed some of the tracks so I think it is a plus point.
4) The boldness of the ML in the initial episodes was refreshing to watch. Considering he is in university and the FL is supposed
to be a famous singer, I liked how he pursued her and the all around flirting going on in the initial episodes which was more
interesting than when the leads do get together.

Things I did not like:
1) Creeeeeeeepy SML. Not even getting into how he looks old enough to be the ML/FL’s dad or uncle; he was beyond creepy
and stalker-ish. I felt the hairs on the back of my neck rise every time he popped on screen. I really wonder why they went
out of their way to make him look even older than how the actor naturally looks. I’m guessing they wanted to showcase a
more mature guy as the “rival” but this just ended up looking creepy.
2) Uninteresting Secondary couples and secondary characters- Skipped the secondary couple’s storyline for the most part and
what little I did watch was worse than boring. Couldn’t care at all for them. The other secondary characters also did not add
anything to the story and I kept waiting for them to go away.
3) Romcom tropes like - forced conflicts like the study abroad plan etc

The premise looked interesting as I liked the tropey, online/anonymous meet-cute between an idol and her fan. But the drama was bogged down by numerous factors. 1) The second story line between the supporting characters were cringey at best. I couldn't stand the woe-is-me outlook of Ma Shan Shan, and the annoying persistence of Su Bin Yu. 2) The love-triangle among the MCs and the SML is a no-contest, and unless you are okay with "Daddy" vibes, Ding Jia Yun just gave me the creeps. And the wardrobe they put on him didn't help matters, that he looked like a wash-down, trying-hard Elvis impersonator with sequined, sparkly, and leather clothes. 3) The rest of the supporting characters are one-dimensional and hardly worth noting. 4) The in-game sequences were cute at first but went overboard as the story goes along. Only positives I can see in this drama aside from the OST, is the cinematography. While there is chemistry between the leads, they were not enough to hold this drama up together.

One of the Best Chinese Drama I have ever seen

I liked the game parts and all the ost's of the drama. I love all the actors' acting. Except Lin Yi, everybody is a new face to me. Their acting was so good. I felt very connected with the drama. I am so happy to come across it. The last episode last part felt very emotional for me as it was ending and the ost made me cry more. I am going to support all the actors. This is my first time writing a review for a Chinese Drama. As soon as I finished it, it made me write a review on it. I hope more people would watch it. For the first time I liked all the ost's in a Chinese Drama. This one was quite different from general Chinese Dramas. This is just my opinion, it might be different for others.

Are the edits as good as the series?

I started watching this series after my entire Instagram feed was flooded with edits. Was it worth it? Absolutely!

The series started well. It grabbed you in the first 5/6 episodes and then I felt like it stayed at the same level for a very long time. I saw a lot of people hating the gaming concept in the beginning but I really liked that. Despite it having nothing to do with the rest of the series. What really made me confused were the extra litle things that the writer continuously added to the series. A new actor or new problems. Not that I really minded it, but it made the main points of the story a bit confusing at times.

A lot happened after episode 8—maybe a bit too much, in my opinion. The singing competition, additional love interests, and the subplot of the side couple. But fortunately, it all came together in the end! Everything circled back to the main couple, and from then on, it was binge-worthy.

The FL and ML were a significant reason why I kept watching. While I've seen better actors, they were good enough to keep you engaged. I also appreciated the student/senior concept; I've seen a few series with similar dynamics, and Love Scenery didn't feel awkward or cringy.

It might sound like I'm being overly critical of the series, but quite the contrary, I found it to be a wonderful series to watch. It was funny, not too heavy, and just another enjoyable romance. So if the edits are anything to go by, it's definitely worth giving it a watch!
