My Little Sadness

When I saw the hash tags of My Little Happiness I was sold immediately. Childhood friends, height difference, fated love, count me in! Alas, after the first 10 episodes my endorphins started to decrease, reaching an all time low at episode 20, making this My Little Sadness.

Story

Favorite tropes are one thing, a sound story, and fleshed-out characters another. In my opinion the female lead character, Cong Rong, is messed up. They've made her so childish, and stubborn in the wrong way, she's more adult in her youth than in the present time. How can she be honest, and strong in her childhood, and a little liar in her twenties? First against her mom, second, against her own feelings, third, against Wen Shao Qing who loves her. I couldn't relate to her character at all when she acted jealous, and pushed him away to another girl, like he's some kind of chocolate box.
Also the male lead is inconsistent. Wen Shao Qing seems to be a character with a strong sense of purpose. In stead, he waits way too long to tell the truth, and he uses petty tricks to reign in Cong Rong. What kept me hooked however was the subplot with the secondary couple. Their story made me angry, but in an empathic way.

Acting Cast

Kudos to the cast. My Little Happiness is watchable thanks to them. I love the flirting scenes with Fair Xing and Daddi Tang, he surely can act up on his name, in a sensual way. I felt myself drawn to the character of Huang U.Lin. It's no surprise Leon Li plays her love interest since he has proven his worth as the grumpy, suspicious general in the Legend of Hao Lan. Even Deng Xin is as good as it gets. She made me think of Wang Yibo, a calm face with subtle micro expressions.

Music

I can't remember the theme of this series, only piano music at the background and crescendos in line with the dramatics, nothing spectacular. Perhaps this could have been different if I felt moved by the story.

Verdict

My Little Happiness gets points thanks to the actors. If you like homely scenes with people kissing while doing the dishes, or fighting and getting back together, you probably like this series.

Fluffy Romance & Nice Comedy (Just FFW 2nd Leads Until Episode 24)

I didn't know any of the actors but I wanted something fluffy that had a lot of romance and no need for thinking capacity. It had very little in the terms of cliches, but tropes and annoyances were mostly for the second leads, which I explained below.

Pros: I adore the main leads. Their chemistry was wonderful and the unwavering commitment of ML for the love of his existence was something not often seen in any of their modern dramas. The comedic aspect between them and the others was also on par. I loved the kissing, both subtle and not so subtle flirtation of the leads. It was a bit draggy but I was very glad when he finally told her the entire truth about them being childhood sweethearts and the man she's been searching for while he's waited for her. It's a very rare occasion nowadays for childhood sweethearts to wait for each other. Many forget. The ML definitely knows how to kiss and their wedding night was very sexy; wish there was more of it but I doubt that would have passed censorship. It was still very nicely done. The ending was very well executed.

Great OSTs and once they got together and got past that one misunderstanding, I loved every moment they spent together though I wish FL didn't always look surprised/petrified when ML was going to kiss her; it was quite silly. I think the only real time she looked totally comfortable was on their wedding night lol.

Cons: I do not understand this need in many cdramas for whiny, pouting, crying females. The SFL was a hot mess; I legit ffw'd a lot of the episodes because I just couldn't deal with her personality. All she did was cry, whine, bitch, moan, and complain in a pre-pubescent voice. The SML also had a lot of problems including an identity crises and not knowing what he wanted or when he wanted it. Honestly, if this was a drama with just the main leads and the supporting cast, it would have been so much better. The second leads didn't bring anything useful to the table.

The FL's cousin was an absolute nuisance; he popped up in the most in opportune moments and honestly, I'm surprised he didn't interrupt them on their wedding night. Dude was as dense as a rock. Good kid all around but just no contemplation of when to go somewhere or say something. It was because of the SLs that this drama is getting rated as I did it. I shouldn't have to fast forward full episodes because of the ridiculous and cringeworthy SL characters.

Would I recommend it? As a filler fluff drama full of romance, yes. Just concentrate on the main leads and you'll get your fill of fluff and comedy.

Sweet story of childhood crush, male lead is passionately in love with FL

I am so GLAD!!! this drama did not disappoint. One of my more anticipated dramas. Super cute love story of the leads.

The female and male leads were childhood friends. The male lead was one a obese kid who got made fun of. The female lead was always there for him to protect him from being bully, and encouraging him to lose weight. He calls her female heroine. They lost contact because the female lead changed school. Every since the male lead has always long for them to finally meet again . Fast forward, they are now adults, The male lead Wen Shao Tian is a surgeon in a hospital He is especially popular with the nurses and ladies. He is a cold, strict and straightforward. Female lead is a intern in a lawyer firm but she gets set to the hospital where the male lead is at. Her job is to talk to the patients and try to reconcile them from not suing the hopsital sorry dont know the specfic term/job title) Its her first case and she head butts with the male lead doctor. They dont start off good. Soon after male lead realizes that female lead is the girl he has being longing for, thus changing his perspective/attitude towards her , like 360 degrees. He is brave to pursue his love, but is often shot down because of miscommunication and thinking someone else likes the male lead. Eventually they finally get together.

I liked this drama because its not solely just about their relationship, but also the side characters relationship develop. You see the female lead finally being able to pass her probation. You also see the struggles of being a doctor and having to deal with the patients family. How the female lead helps and support the male lead through tough times. All the side characters are really lovable!!

Their romance is really cute. The height difference between the two is extremely cute too. They make a cute couple , have the chemistry but for some reason lacked a little passion? ( might be me personally didnt have the tingly feeling when they kissed) But however I did have the tingly feelings for the second pairing. I also found them to be extremely cute!!! The female lead 's best friend is so cute, pretty, stupid and simple, She always a good support to her friend and live life simply, following after her passion. The process of seeing the second male and female lead get together was sweet, not a smooth process but eventually they did

BUT MY FAVE CHARACTER has to be the silly, and naive cousin of the female lead! aka the male lead's intern!! He is so cute ( literally) . He looks like a little sweet milk dog, who needs to be protect. His character is funny and silly. He's just to cute! it would of been cool to see him have a romantic pairing.

Also the songs for this show is on point! love them all

WORTH THE WATCH!!!t

Very wholesome and fluffy content!! The chemistry for both the main and second couple is insane!!!! No unnecessary drama or angst, every obstacle is dealt with quickly. The last few episodes got a bit too exaggerating but honestly at this point who cares when the leads are SO perfect together T___T

This is also the first time I am attracted to both couples, their storylines are amazing and so so cute! Really worth the watch and all the sleep sacrifices, hope they get to act in the same drama again!

Never thought I’d love a Chinese drama this much.

Everything is worth it to watch from the first second of the first episode until the last second of the last episode.

The story is the right mixture of mature and childish tone. I love the way how the characters tackle their problem in life and how they support each other to grow as an individual. Also it’s refreshing to see that there’s no rich man bullying a girl here or a bad to good boy trope. It’s good to see that the female characters are portrayed as someone who has a potential to be who she wants to be. The childhood connection cliche is there, but it’s forgivable.

Also, the story of the second couple is engaging enough to make you interested with them too.

As for the acting, they are all great from the leads down to the supporting casts. The male lead also improved a lot compared to the first time I saw him in Put Your Head on My Shoulder. I almost didn’t recognize him. Fair Xing, is still good, as always. ❤️

This drama is a combination of all I want in a story. It has 28 episodes (tbh, I first thought it’s too much for me), but I finished it only for 3 days and I didn’t skip anything! That speaks volume. Now I miss all the characters and the feeling they gave me the past days.

WANT SEASON 2

OMG!!!

This is a very nice story after "PUT YOUR SHOULDER ".
The story goes in very smooth flow as it does'nt drag too much and entertain us .

The actor are a good fit for this drama as FU PEI GOT SI TU MO back .
I also liked Second Couple as well because ,the most is his uncle and shao qing because they suit in cold charecter.

The music I like in this drama is when Main Couple kiss that BGM "I'm with you ".
I listen to that music if I'm watching which so ever drama the song is awesome.

Rewatch value for this drama I would give
100/100 because there is not even a single mistake in drama that makes it too bad to watch. The actors are too good and I hope there will be Season 2 ..............

New Addition to my Favorites

I just KNOW im going to get post drama depression. im seriously going to miss these characters. this whole story was just beautiful. a childhood reunion with the boy endlessly pursing her and her falling in love with him AND OMFG it was so different. there was those cliche lovey dovey moments but also different ones I CANNOT.

the second couple was also AMAZING. the chemistry, the relationship dynamic. this couple was just as interesting and could even be argued more interesting than the main couple.

the main couple was beautiful. the FL & ML both worked together in a drama Put Your Head On My Shoulders and it was so great seeing him not as the second male lead. the chemistry was ON POINT, everything was TO DIE FOR. hes the boyfriend that you wish you had but doesn't exist in this world. the FL was strong & she stuck to her morals and didn't loose herself. the ml to the end was consistent and I LIVED FOR IT.

the best part was how supporting the parents were, how there wasn't any BIG love triangles, misunderstandings weren't infuriating and they were sorted out

the family dynamics were the BEST, the cousin, FL's mom, the SFL (cong ring's bestie, I love she's so supportive), the uncle

as I was watching this I didn't even realize how quickly I was going through this. its the type of drama that just makes you feel warm on the inside. 100% sure im going to rewatch this bc I just KNOW imma be missing these characters. I think I love this drama as much as I love 020 LOVE and I LOVED that drama.

the ending was also one of the best ive seen, or maybe thats all the collective feelings that piled up as I watched wen shaoqing and cong song's journey together.

OMG DONT FORGET THE AMOUNT OF KISS SCENES IN THIS DRAMA IT WAS SO UNEXPECTED AND GOOD AND STEAMY AND I JUST CANTIHRKGLJAHFG (like fl's kiss scene in put your head on my shoulders was quite...stiff but like understandable bc imagine how awkward it is to yk but like girl her acting IMPROVED TENFOLD I cannot believe my eyes) I swear I blushed so mannnnnyyyy times in this drama just watching them even when they weren't kissing either like damn my standards JUST WENT HIGHER THAN EVER BEFORE and they were already pretty high. (no wonder im forever single these dramas have ruined me)

There is nothing to watch except for the beautiful actors.

When I saw the ratings i was really expecting something. But to be honest, it was a complete disappointment. I mean if the rating on MDL was like around 7 then yh it would have been okay. But for this rating, it's not okay.

I watched this entire series just cause of the second leads. They were the only reason to complete this. They deserve another drama of their own.

The story is too predictable and when we watch the main leads, it's really uncomfortable and irritating. I almost skipped every part of their scene so that I completed this drama really fast. So many cliche and cringey scenes they had.

Let me list out the good things about this drama:
1. The second couples. They are the show stealers. i only watched their part along the drama.
2. Have a good music I would say.
3. This series doesn't have a BREAK UP scene which is a GTG for me.
4. And there is a very cute dog in the series.

That's all. I don't wanna list out the shortcomings cause there is a lot.

NO HATE please... DONT READ my Review if U loved the Series!!!! THIS IS JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION!!!
I started watching this on its first week so i was able to watched till eps 6 then I stopped because i wanted to complete it first till eps 28 then i will watch it again eps 1-28...
Unfortunately as i went on the story becomes boring, the way the FL reacted to him its kinda bit off... she love/like the guy why so shy just the talk about Lingerie..marriage..& sweet things?? its contradicting...its annoying even... can the writer be more realistic like they are adult after all... showing LOVE or being IN LOVE cant be that timid
CAST:
The HEIGHT difference is too much... i pity the ML kissing her that he is almost bending half way... i did not feel the chemistry between them, i didnt feel the butterfly tummy when ML pursue her cause Daddi Tang is really handsome beside her... He is more beautiful than the FL... sorry i know all actors & actresses are beautiful but its just that they dont much well....
The ONLY good thing in this series is "KISSING SCENE" like OMG Daddi Tang is really good kisser....its real.. even the 2nd ML is also good in kissing... kudos to the Director who gives justice to the scene...

I hope this drama doesn’t become a trend these days. A drama without any real storyline except for just lovey dovey scenes are not what you call a good drama. A good drama has a storyline to follow, not ones with fillers. This drama caters to the crowd who wants no angst and no love triangles. Basically, you end up with a “filler” drama. You can’t even call it a sweet and fluffy drama because there’s no comedy element to any of it. At least the light, sweet fluffy dramas have memorable cute scenes that have a real storyline direction throughout the 28 episodes.

I don’t even have any favorite parts to rewatch. I sticked to the end because I really liked the female lead. Hopefully, she picks a better drama in the future. The drama isn’t rewatchable.

Too clichè

Story is too common no creativity. Too much following other love stories. The story contains too much assumptions and unrealistic values! Leading lady Fair Xing is a good actress and played her part well. Leading man not so much. Not convincing and overplayed with unrealistic conditions. The storyline is cute but like I said its been done before or close enough to where it seems the playwrights are running out of ideas and taking ideas from other movies! Oh, and the staring and silence in several scenes are quite annoying and is typical in most movies lately.

A fun Rom/Com that will keep you entertained.

If you are looking for an easy rom/com to watch with lots of kisses then you need to watch this one. The acting was decent and the story, while not too compelling, was light and fun to watch. I don’t watch many CDramas because they are sometimes full of repeating scenes and unneeded fluff. That was not the case with this one. Every episode contributed to the story and character development. Fair Xing may be a small, which fits the title, but she is a strong actress. She was beautiful and shined with her portrayal of Cong Rong the intern lawyer. Daddi Tang is an accomplished actor in his own right and did a good job with his portrayal of Dr. Wen Shao Qing.

If you watch this one you will see a romance from childhood to the birth of babies. That’s one of the things I really liked about this romance. The drama took it to completion leaving you no questions what happened. I don’t like dramas that leave it to your imagination in the end.

The only downsize to me was the on-screen chemistry. While I am sure others will disagree with me, I didn’t feel a strong chemistry between the FL and ML. There was a little too much staring at each other and not enough body language to sell the relationship. Keep in mind that I’m a man so when I say Daddi Tang is not the essence of a romantic actor, don’t hate me. It felt a little awkward. The story made up for it with a bundle of kisses between the two leads. The comedy also felt contrived and sometimes interrupted the flow of the romance making it even more awkward.

Overall I enjoyed the drama so don’t let my comments keep you from watching a fun show.
