Both of them are historical drama
They both have romance
In both dramas, the leads have AMAZING chemistry
They both are outstanding dramas but they really hit differently

If you like one, you should give a chance to the other

> Both dramas focus on court ladies
> The friendships of the different court ladies, their relationships with their higher ups, emphasis on how they should serve and belong to the king, is shown in both dramas
> TRIVIA: The female lead Lee Se Young is actually the child version of the rival female in Jewel in the Palace! Her characters in both dramas are both court ladies that are very talented. In Jewel in the Palace, she can cook since she was 3 years and is very knowledgeable in the kitchen compared to others. In Red Sleeve, she's good at writing and poetry.

It’s not exactly the same but one of the similarities is King/Emperor falling in love with a maid. And the chemistry b/n the leads is on point.

Both are my favourites. So if you liked The red Sleeve, u will certainly like The Empress Ki.

Star crossed lovers and wanting yet cannot be together. Good looking cast and political court intrigue.

"Jeong Nyeon: The Star Is Born" and "The Red Sleeve" share several similarities that make them appealing to fans of historical K-dramas:

1. **Historical Setting**: Both dramas are set in historical periods, with "Jeong Nyeon" taking place in the 1950s post-Korean War era, and "The Red Sleeve" set during the Joseon Dynasty¹².

2. **Strong Female Leads**: Both series feature strong, determined female protagonists. In "Jeong Nyeon," Kim Tae-ri plays a young vocal prodigy striving to become a top traditional theater actor¹. In "The Red Sleeve," Lee Se-young portrays a court lady who navigates palace life and her relationship with the king².

3. **Themes of Personal Growth and Ambition**: Both dramas explore the personal growth and ambitions of their main characters. Jeong Nyeon faces intense competition and personal challenges in her journey to stardom¹, while Seong Deok-im in "The Red Sleeve" strives to live life on her own terms despite the constraints of court life².

4. **Complex Relationships**: The relationships in both dramas are intricate and deeply emotional. "Jeong Nyeon" highlights the protagonist's rivalry and mentorship dynamics¹, while "The Red Sleeve" focuses on the romantic and political complexities between the king and his consort².

5. **Directed by Jung Ji-in**: Both dramas share the same director, Jung Ji-in, which brings a similar storytelling style and visual aesthetic to the series¹.

Even the story is different, but both dramas give me same kind of vibe, full of emotion from the beginning to the end. If you love actions, TnK has more action scenes than TRS, fill with samurai fights. Both endings are very nostalgic and deep to our mind.

It has some aspects to it that are the same. The King only has enduring love for the girl he met when they were young. Political struggles between factions. Power struggles within the palace.
