Didn't expect this is a good series

At first, I was intrigued to watch this series and most especially love the FL. I'm kind of hooked up from the Korean then Chinese dramas since the pandemic. love watching them and some of them let me skip some time. Especially, the time that I kind of thought it was boring especially with those SL or to the characters that somehow doesn't involve to the story of the FL and ML. I even now enjoying listening to the soundtracks even I don't understand it.

Doom at your service is one of the Korean series I don't skip. I keep watching it. I can't get myself to skip because I might miss the story especially mostly of the series focuses on the FL and ML. It is also the first time that I love 100% the SML and SFL. they do well with each other. I love their story as well. Not so clingy but Love the way the SML showed his love and concern to the SFL. They are meant with each other.

Love the way the FL showed her love to the ML and as well how they get well with each other. I just felt happy to the FL, she done a great job portraying the character and I just can't stop myself loving her more especially when she pours her sadness to the ML or to the SFL. just love the FL. Hope i can see the second part of the story. how their life after everything.

must watch!

Perfect combination of romcom and drama

It was lighter than I expected, but it kept me at the edge of my seat. I was hooked immediately by the first episode and I was glued until the very end. Pacing was good, the writing was consistently progressive, and I love its portrayal of the reality of how fickle human emotion can be (I think it was between Episodes 1-4). I found myself laughing really hard, ugly crying at some parts, and swooning over so many scenes. It's near the likes of Goblin and some details reminded me of My Roommate is A Gumiho (though this was released first), but it was unique in its own way and I think I like this a tad bit more. Plus, casting was perfect and so was the distinct OST. Masterpiece. I love it so much and definitely something I'm recommending to friends.

An Adorable Staple On Your K-drama Shelf

The main feature of this K-drama: Seo In Guk. Among the cold mysterious male leads Seo In Guk is hands down the hottest. I'm genuinely fascinated by the way he cracks that ice mask with his eyes only. It's damn hypnotizing.

?I do believe the drama with a long and confusing title 어느 날 우리 집 현관으로 멸망이 들어왔다 (One day doom entered my house through the front door) has earned its place among the classics. It's a heartwarming and well-executed romance between a human and a supernatural being with actually engaging supporting plots. I love how it teaches us to appreciate the present and the fleeting moments of happiness, because there is no happiness without sorrow and no birth without death. The main theme of death in the drama is handled very well. Tak Dong Gyeong is terminally ill, but it doesn't feel like an intentional tear-jerker. Instead, the story concentrates on her connection with her family and friends and recognition of human relationships. The surreal world of Myeol Mang is also attractive in its emptiness and solace, and you're eager to unravel his true nature as his character evolves. The drama depends on him entirely.

?The overall story is pretty standard and predictable for a fantasy/romance, involving the annoying trope of memory erasure, but the way the drama takes you on that journey is worth the time. I didn't notice how fast I finished it considering that it's not packed with action and mind-blowing twists. My complaint remains: the emerging of the contract and its conditions - the key element of the story - wasn't clear from the very beginning and stayed unclear to the very end.

doom at your service is beyond doubt a fantasy!

what i love the most about doom at your service is that the story flow which started with angst, i-feel-like-it-is-a-sad-ending, forboding all the blues feels and, turned to a happy ending. most dramas are like happy-happy-angst-happy flow, but days is not your typical one. the flow makes it unique in its way!

doom at your service is best when you binge-watch, i waited every week and got to admit that it is not the best fantasy drama. along the way, yes i got bored watching it. the first few episodes are so promising and i lost in the second half because of too much push and pull. and got tired of it. some may like this but it is not for me. not my cup of tea.

nevertheless, the casts are so well-cast! they all have the chemistry in every relation. the packaged of ost is chef's kiss. just ailee and gummy alone, switching them back and forth can make the scene the double triple feel of pain. i can say days garnered a spot on top kdrama album ost. MUSIC 10/10

An okay affair with simple execution

Doom At Your Service started well, with the interaction of two leads, and how things are deemed to happen. The characters were intriguing along with the supporting casts as well.

The story was simple, yet with a little twist, I felt like it being dragged deliberately, just to complete in 16 episodes. I thought that it would have been better if finished within 12 episodes, since at certain moments, the scenes were stretched which were not required.

The last couple of episodes were meh as well, with everything sorted again and concluding towards a happy ending. The best part of this drama was it's OST, which I felt was pretty amazing and melancholic and the lead pair, which I felt were perfectly cast and did justice to the characters of Kim Human and Dong Kyung.

Although Doom At Your Service is neither great nor trash, it had it's highs and lows and is watchable enough for the first time.

My Rating : 6.5/10

I'll start off by saying I'm definitely not a professional critic just a girl saying what's on my mind so do with that what you will.
let's go

So I will say I did thoroughly enjoy it, it was funny and has a good storyline. I put the rewatch value as 1 simply because I don't rewatch shows but I could see people wanting to rewatch it. My only real critic is that close to the end it got a bit slow and I had to force myself to finish it. I loved the whole concept though and I do recommend watching it if you're into the whole "I hate everyone in the world but you" trope. Each to their own though.

Watchable, for the most part.

I thought this drama was watchable overall. I love Park Bo Young. She is cute beyond words and such a joy to watch. She had good chemistry with her male lead and it had the right amount of humor and angst to keep you watching. At times the plot seemed to slow down and become repetitive. It seemed to meander in parts and some of the writing choices were just silly implausibilities. I mean, who has a conversation in Korean with someone who only answers in English and both completely understand each other? I know the writers wanted some laughs, but that was ridiculous.

Lee Soo Hyun is a cat in human form! Aloof, arrogant, and smooth, he is the epitome of the annoying guy who is handsome and knows it. He isn't someone I would jump to date so I wondered, given the way his character is written, why the object of his affection would be interested in such an arrogant bastard? I never felt his character arc was complete, and he lacked development. He went from being an arrogant bastard to an arrogant bastard in love.

I felt the character who got the shortest end of the stick is Kang Tae Oh's, Lee Hyun Gyu. Aside from helping along Lee Soo Hyun's storyline, there wasn't much for him to do. I think he should get his own spin-off drama where he finds the girl of his dreams. In general, the writing was really the problem here. Why take us on a ride where someone falls in love, misses her guy, only to play games when she gets him back? That was exasperating, as was watching the ML still think he could do superhero stuff when he wasn't just for laughs. Perhaps the drama it didn't want to take itself to seriously , but the comedy seems out of place.

The OST was excellent. I usually never rewatch dramas so I wouldn't recommend a show that can't decide what it is.

Doomed or not ...

Well, as the show itself quotes "Luck and Misery comes with the same face". The same happened to me while watching this drama or maybe some others may agree on this.

Things I got Lucky with:
1. CAST & ACTING - Cast of the show was really amazing to begin with and all the actors did justice to their respective parts. On second note, this show made into my PTW list because of Seo In guk and Park Bo young.
2. OSTs - The music for the show was heartwarming and definitely could heal bleeding wounds.
3. Chemistry between all the cast members was great, of course, overwhelming among leads.
4. Wardrobe - You will surely get to see eye-catching set of clothes.
5. Cinematography - It surely does make the best connect with the outlined storyline
6. Last, thing that got right in this drama was the screen-time of characters. Everyone got enough time to express themselves.
7. Philosophical outcomes of unpredictable life...

Things that bought misery:
1. It became draggy after 7th episode, I skipped through a lot of scenes though I didn't wanted to .. ?
2. I think the Story lost its essence as it evolved. I think so, because at time I couldn't feel that "Myeol Mang" was really a "Doom" and was someone who could cause disaster. Because of that it happens to be another one of rom-com by the end of the drama, at least for me.
3. Unnecessary repetitive scenes, because of them I almost dozed off.?
4. Ji Na's story - It could have evolved in better way, as it was one of those things I was looking forward to.

From someone who is about to die, to someone who is death himself story could have developed in way more better than it does now. The characters were really well written, but hoped they could have done same with their stories. I did understand deity's part, because that was all she could do without breaking rules of time.
Story was definitely intriguing and it's presentation from paper to screens was also good but It lost it's lustre half-way down and failed to express itself as it wanted to maybe. ..
If you would ask me is it a completely doomed drama? .... No, definitely not. At least way more better than shows that showcase abusive relationships. NO OFFENCE. Surely, not perfect one but not doomed one either.

Would I rewatch it?...... It is a bit draggy, for 16 eps. Maybe I would rewatch it someday, for Sa Ram and Dong Kyung .
Recommended to those who love to explore different genres and themes like me.?

P.S.: I'm here to just share my experience, like most of us does. If you want to watch it, .... Do read what others think about it, but surely experience it yourself maybe your opinion contradicts mine.... THAT's LIFE.

Good story line but i think becoz of cast, this drama has good ratings.. some parts are not too well written.. lot of times i feel like somthing is off but can not point out wht is it.. i feel like writer didn't write it perfectly...
When i watching ths i rememberd gobling over n over.. this drama has same vibe as goblin.. but no too well managed as goblin.. when doom disappear i did not feel it like when goblin did.. itz not problm of actors..when goblin come back to life is soo much exiting but this drama dont have tht exitment becoz we already feel wht is going to hpnd next..
Itz rare that main actress did not hve 2 boys that fell for her n 2nd lead actress hve 2 boys but not include 1st main lead actor. yh itz somthing new, i like it..

As for actors no words all of them r perfect.. *Doom is cute ❤️ seo in guk is always perfect for me i love his acting he can do every kind of characters
*Tak dong completely grab my heart. 'wow she is soo cute n act really well why i did not saw it before' this is wht i thought while watchng this drama.. tht becoz i did not like park bo young firstly even i watchd her dramas before.. but now i love her
*cha joo ik i kind a fell angry about him becoz he could have tell ji na about why hyun kyu did tht bla bla bla but he did not.. so i feel angry at him.. but looking at how he love n feel bad about hyun kyu i am not too angry..
*I really like hyun kyu he is soo cute and have cute smile.. i feel bad for him he n tak dongs brother r well matchng funny too ?
*I really love sun kyung he is too cute n i like deity too first episodes it look like she is bad one but i feel.like she is good becoz ji soo have best facial expressions she will be talented actress one day.. n na ji na ,aunt, kevin, n all others did their best to do justice for their characters..

Overall good drama.. you can enjoy it

Love the story

I'm not sure why this drama had received low ratings from others who watched this. Because personally i enjoyed this drama very much, At first i only watched this because of Lee Soo-hyuk. Turned out I'll love the ML even more.

I'm always interested with these types of series . At first i thought it was about grim reapers. But it's not.At first you will doubt the intention of the dainty, but in the end the real motive will be revealed.
I love the cast. The FL and ML have good chemistry. This is my second time to watch Seo in guk and I must say I'm now a fan.

This series is for people who loves watching fantasy, Love story, drama. 10 stars for me.

Romance Between Two Unlikely Candidates Does Not Work.

Doomed to fail would not be the first thing that comes to mind when you see the first two episodes. Both actors worked well and its is rare to see such chemistry from the whole cast as you progress. The super natural phenomenon were believable and doom as grim reaper felt natural in his role.

The show had so much potential, but K-drama has the tendency to make everything down to earth and give everything even gods human emotions which makes me confused all the time. I get it you gotta have a romantic story but the two, a human woman who is dying and an all powerful god of death acting like they have a chance at love is laughable without serious backstory and reason.

The whole cast worked well early but as the story refused to move forward and give us something of substance it slowly became more like a slog. There was no chemistry between the main leads and it felt like the female lead was forcing everything on the male lead, and he went along with it. It is stupid to see a super natural being acting like has feelings for a dying girl for no reason. They had no need to have any connection at all, at least it was not clear why they were chosen to be together by the deity. I would also like to know why everyone around acts so dumb as if the guy is not supernatural and teleporting everywhere is normal.

Finally, the show failed to keep me hooked and I just watched it by skipping most of the scenes later. He knew when she would die and she knew she was dying but there was very few moves from any side. Furthermore, she showed no romantic interest from the start but started living together has to be one of the most oddest move in modern history.

Cute

I have mixed feelings about this drama. It started out nicely, I think, but over time, it became a bit boring on the main storyline, and I found myself more excited for the side storyline. However, that too, became bland. I think this could have been a lot shorter, as it felt like it was dragged out to fill space.

There are a lot of things I enjoyed in this dramas, mainly the funny interaction between the characters, and their familiar love. I also quite like the dynamic between Dong Kyung, Seon Kyung, and Ji Na, and also between Joo Ik and Hyun Gyu. I like that Dong Kyung is fearless and speaks her mind.

However, there are also plenty that I don't quite like.

The love triangle between Joo Ik, Hyun Gyu and Ji Na was interesting to start with, but in the end I felt like I wish Ji Na just reject both of them and go her own way. In the meantime, the further into the episodes I went, the more it felt like Joo Ik and Hyun Gyu were an old married couple, and Ji Na felt as if she was injected into the middle of their relationship so that there is something to talk/fight (or not) about. It felt clunky.

I'm not sure the purpose of Kevin was other than to be a comic relief in some moments. Most of the times, he felt like the token foreigner. I found it very hard to believe that Soo Ja and Kevin were in a relationship considering she didn't speak English AT ALL and he could only speak/understand very little Korean. I've been in a couple of relationships where language barrier was an issue, and I'm not seeing anything between the two of them that indicated that they have their own way of communicating so that they understand each other.

I didn't think that last episode was needed at all, it felt a bit out of place and very slow. I don't really care if they end up getting married or not, these days it's fine not getting married anyway, but the problem lies in the fact that I don't care. The drama has failed to make me care for the characters.

I'm also not sold on the ending. I'm a bit annoyed that there are so many dramas forcing a happy ending just for the sake of happy ending, even when it doesn't suit it. I feel that it would have been a lot more meaningful if Myeol Mang didn't come back and Dong Kyung lives on her life happily. I feel that what Myeol Mang did for her would have carried a lot more weight and that Dong Kyung celebrates the live she was given from Myeol Mang dying for her, by living to her fullest. Also, what's with Myeol Mang being reborn as a human straight into adulthood? Sure, it can be shrugged off as the goddess wanted it that way, but it feels like one of those "forced" elements from the creators so that the drama can have a happy end.

Overall, the drama has interesting and great ideas, but didn't really come through in its execution. I still enjoyed it enough to keep watching though, but I probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
