tacky typical plot

the ratings were what swayed me to watch this series in the first place. however, the storyline is typical cheesy tacky drama romance. the guys acting were on par but the girls were just bad. the sml and the sfl do not match at all. the fl is wearing pigtails and ponytails that makes her seem like an elementary student. she's a fashion designer and i find her style just child like and unconvincing (especially for a 3rd year college student). i get that the drama is depicting her as an easy going happy go lucky full of sunshine person, but everything about the fl is just annoying and doesn't do her any justice in her character/personality. she seem to be more like a child even though she's the big sister. the ml seems more like the babysitter than the love interest/bf.

i really tried to hang on and finished the series but i stopped at ep 10 and watched the last ep.
overall, the story line made me cringed and seriously, others should skip this drama. the other ratings are overrated.

SWEET & FLUFFY

"Everyone suffers in life. They all want something sweet. That's why everyone loves sweet dramas"

It's a light-hearted & non-melodramatic, fluffy story. The ost is also pleasing.

At first, the synopsis didn't satisfy me but I started watching this drama coz of Luo Zheng (ML) and ended up liking Lu Yao (2nd FL)

Personally, I really enjoyed the story and watched without skipping scenes. The plot is not draggy, main couple hv cat and dog type of chemistry in beginning which grow into fluffy overtime and they've trust in each other.

Light fluffy romcom with likable characters

This is an easy watch that’s low on angst, high on romance, and has really likable characters. I wish the story had more depth but the acting was really good. And there’s some great side characters that are fun to watch.

The storyline:
The dramas description doesn’t really tell you what the basic storyline is about which might lead to confusion because it jumps right into the story so let me fill you in. The FL (Ye Wei Mian) has an identical twin sister (Ye Zheng Han) who is in a coma from a car accident. They are both in college but at different campuses with different majors. The FL pretends to be her sister at her sisters college to help her with an important scholarship she desperately needs. She also keeps up with her own college classes and works several part time jobs. She’s so exhausted she ends up accidentally breaking the ML’s birthday gift for his mother when delivering it to his house. It’s super expensive so she ends up paying for it by pretending to be the ML’s girlfriend which his mother says is the best birthday gift she could ever receive (I loved his mom). And he’s happy because it gets his mom off his back about him needing to find a girlfriend.

The female lead:
I was a bit apprehensive about the FL because it looked like she might be one of those annoying FL’s that are silly and naive and is always needing the ML’s help. But I was pleasantly surprised when she ended up being very smart and hardworking. She’s already a great designer with her own online shop. And the way she’s always dancing, laughing, or singing makes it understandable why people are drawn to her. She seems pretty happy with her life and is very positive all the time. I just got good vibes from her.

The male lead:
What can I say? He’s super hot and the perfect boyfriend. I love a male lead that knows what he wants and goes after it. And the way he shuts down the girl chasing after him every time she makes a play for him was refreshing. Even though he’s your typical super smart successful rich male lead, he’s very charismatic, charming and funny too. If you like shirtless scenes and a male lead that knows how to kiss, you’ll love this guy!

What I didn’t like:
The storyline was the weak point in this drama. The whole entire drama is about the twin swap and the problems it causes. If the drama had shown more of their family life and backgrounds or had went into more detail about their future goals it would have been more interesting. It just seemed to lack depth. Fortunately there is character growth, some cute side romances, and lots of great comedy which makes it worth watching. Plus the romance sizzles with lots of kisses and skinship which is a must for me when watching a romance drama.

The maid outfit controversy:
The FL is trying on formal dresses for a fancy event when one of the dresses looks a lot like a maids uniform. The ML says “you look like a Filipino maid.” Her dress did resemble a maids outfit and I think that’s all they were trying to convey because it wasn’t appropriate for the event they were going to attend. Was it disrespectful to say that? Yes. Could it offend some people? Yes. But for so many people to watch only one episode then give the entire drama one star based on a single isolated comment they didn’t like is ludicrous. I was more offended by the numerous reviews giving the drama one star and calling it racist after only watching one episode than I was about the comment itself. Fortunately, most websites and apps have removed that comment from the drama. And despite all those unjustified one star reviews, the dramas ratings are still quite good which proves that it’s a decent drama worth watching.

Final thoughts:
This isn’t the best drama I’ve watched but it’s not the worst either. I guess it’s somewhere in between. It lacks depth and has a predictable storyline. But the acting is amazing, the comedy is really good, and the characters are delightful. If you’re looking for something light, fluffy, romantic, and easy to watch then this is the drama for you. It’s a decent drama and I’m glad I watched it.

RACIST‼️

This drama offended us Filipinos. I don’t tolerate racism so this drama is real sh*t. I hope this drama receives unsatisfactory reviews and because they deserve it. ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

hyper girlfriend, calm boyfriend. love it sm!

I just found out luo zheng took part in this drama as main role OMG?? Always saw him as support role in other dramas such as girlfriend and poisoned love, even so i prefer him with long screen time! Here it is, MAKE MY HEART SMILE as it really did. Romance comedy was well excecuted! this literally has a light storyline, contains a bunch of skinship, fluffy as well as hilarious moments haha! Main leads perfectly portrayed their roles, i could clearly distinguish twins FL, she truly is a bold and hard worker girl, she could make the atmosphere more lively in her way (though a lil bit childish but it's still bearable! As for the ML, he also did great, calm, smart-ass, lovely, clingy, and protected his woman at all costs. OMG where can i find a man like him:( Actually i didn't wanna make a review yet seemingly i should! Don't mind all those hate comments, it's totally worth it i assure u!

Give it a second chance its a good drama!

This one for me, is good. Though they really did hurt filipinos on first episode still it’s too much that they removed it on iqiyi. Personally I don’t think the word “ you look like a filipino maid “ is that offensive. If you’ll base it on the look of the female lead there’s nothing wrong with her and her clothes but yeah some might really find it awkward and odd. I just hope filipinos should lessen the hate on this drama and give it a second chance.

Now where can i find episode 11 and up??

Good enough drama to pass time

I was ready to drop this episode in the first 12 minutes, picked it up after a couple of days since I was looking for something as a filler. I went into it not really expecting much but I did enjoy it. The main couple had a lot of cute moments. I liked Gu Yan Lou, he is probably the boyfriend that a lot of girls would like to have - good looking, smart and very supportive. Lou Zheng has the kind of face that looks like it’s always ready for a smile and can smile effortlessly. Looking forward to more dramas from him and hopefully as lead again.

As Ye Wei Mian was part of the relationship, she was tolerable. I did find her acting a bit childish and too cutesy, especially as the 1/2 of the relationship.

Going back to the main couple’s relationship. Aside from having cute moments, they communicated and did not have that miscommunication that got dragged on for several episodes - well until almost at the very end, which somewhat ruined it for me - I skipped that full episode. It would have been better if the writers followed the flow of them fighting it together hand in hand. I did like that they did not get back together right away when YWM had her “awakening”. It would have been so unfair to GYL. The ending is as what you would expect it to be but there was something missing for me. I still felt that GYL was “tricked” to go and just suddenly they were ok? But as I said this was not a drama that I went into for realism - it is a drama after all :-). The enjoyable moments outnumbered the irritating so all is good.

Love triangle was almost non-existent. The persistent girl gets ignored every time - very refreshing. The guy wasn’t annoying at all and actually developed some kind of friendship with GYL.

Girl who live two lives which creates so much misunderstanding ,to make it correct things went worse but having love beside didn't make the situation worst.
Love ,breakup ,patchup then breakup and then patch in these story had revolve .
Then to give spice in the story involve jealousy.
With this one more love story was there so can say second leads .
With one more story but shown indirectly.
College life , topper in a field ,fashion designer ... Above mentioned things introduction in the story so kinda boring.

One of the best cdrama i've watched in 2021

Tbh at first i don't really like the FL, Ye Wei Mian but as the drama goes on, i really fell for her character and understand why would the ML, Gu Yanluo would fall in love with her. She is so adorable and so precious, how can someone not like her? ?

Cute and fluffy love story:
Ye Wei Mian and Gu Yanluo love story started as a fake couple and ended up as the real cutest couple in the show. All their cute and sweet interactions even before they really get together make you ship them more and more and really want them to be together so bad.I have to say that the progress of their love story is interesting. Moving on to the 2nd couple which shows Wei Mian bestie, Lu Yao and Yanluo bestie, Mu Ze. A playboy and a hard to get girl. I love their story too. At first Mu Ze are the one who keep chasing Lu Yao's love but still their interactions are cute especially when they fight. And then we have the 3rd couple, Jiuyue & ye zhenhan(ye weimian twin sister). Their love story are not much since we could only see them for like only a few scenes. But i do ship them.

The misunderstanding:
Usually the misunderstanding between the FL and ML regarding the 2nd FL would be draggy but this one it shows how much wei mian trust yanluo since she's not mad because she thought yanluo cheat on her but mad because he give permission to the 2nd FL to wear the T-shirt that show their token of love. And then, we have the identity misunderstanding. As we know, ye wei mian had to take place as her twin sister ye zhenhan, to make sure the scholarship her sister get won't be affected during she is in her coma state. As the drama goes on even after yanluo and weimian got together, she still seal the secret from yanluo and that made yanluo sulking and thought weimian does not trust him enough. But even the scene where he corners her turns out cute instead of sad?that's why i love this couple so much.

2nd lead conflict:
The 2nd male lead, the one who had crush on ye wei mian since their childhood. Im kinda sad he didnt' get his own partner in the end. I love him. He always try to be there and tried hard to win wei mian affection. Especially when he want to confess his feelings in public and got rejected. Although he knew wei mian already had a boyfriend which made me a bit mad but seriously i just can't hate him. He is so cute and precious. Someone please date and love him the way he love wei mian coz he deserves better. That's what i thought.

The music:I love the opening music that sang by the male lead himself. It aounds sweet and cute. ?

All i can say this drama is really worth it cause there is no cliche mother in law who doesn't like the girl and such. the ML mother was like shipping the main couple since the very first time she saw her. Even until the end she gave her full support to the couple. This drama is really enjoyable, fun and worth every second of my time?

A light, fluffy drama that inadvertently highlighted an unnoticed part of Chinese society

Overall, I enjoyed watching this drama, and I think the female lead did a pretty good job in depicting the different personalities of the twins. Granted, I've also only seen her in Sparkle Love, where she acted even more introverted than the 2nd twin, so I was glad to see her portray an entirely different personality this time around. It wasn't a mind-blowing drama, but it was an easy, fluffy watch that didn't make me feel annoyed at any of the characters, problems were solved in due time and not dragged out unnecessarily, and the decisions they made seemed fitting for the situations, so I definitely enjoyed it much more than some of those other low-production rom-coms I've seen in the past.

Now in regards to the "racist statement"... I am in no place to be offended as I am neither Filipino nor am I a maid/house worker, but I don't think that saying someone looks like any stereotyped human being is ever meant to be a kind comment, regardless of whether the subject is a certain race or not. Prior to this line, he also said she looked like a 大嬸, or an "older middle-aged woman" (like an "ajumma" if you know Korean). Is that not offensive to those women as well?

Of course, the scriptwriter(s) could've used other terms to describe those dresses, but to me, the choice and use of this term is a reflection of human nature and Chinese society today. Because we are human, it's impossible to understand the details of every race and culture, which is why stereotypes exist. Being the arrogant, prideful character from a rich background that he is (especially at the beginning of the series), it shouldn't be too surprising if he says something mean or offensive - he's just not that type of considerate guy. Besides the fact that it's a commonly used everyday term like 大嬸/ "older middle-aged woman", and that it may not have been ethically correct to have him say something potentially offensive, outright choosing not to acknowledge it by leaving it out of the script doesn't mean it doesn't exist in the real world.

Although foreign domestic helpers are a real part of Chinese society (as well as in other countries too, I'm sure), they are rarely ever mentioned, never mind highlighted in dramas. But the topic came up, don't just pick your side and move in. Instead, go look up and read about domestic and foreign domestic workers in China (I did) and learn more about them so next time you meet someone who is really stereotyping (maybe even worse and more regularly), you can tell them exactly how it is.

I'll be honest, I had such a hard time with this show and I think it's because I really don't know what I was getting myself into. he synopsis gave me no direction at all. lol and then I went ahead and threw myself into it and I learned it's a TWIN DRAMA; I hate it here. HAHAHA and even though it wasn't a huge factor, Idk who likes twin dramas and if you do, explain. Lmao

It was cute, it's the same old cliché bickering then fall in love, I liked the chemistry between the main leads, I like that they didn't give the secondary people any mind, I liked the mom, everyone was really chill and I absolutely loved it. The show was cute, the kissing was cute, overall, I liked it.

Would I rewatch? MAYBE for the cute scenes but other than that, I could watch a lot of dramas with the similar theme. lol

Please change the dialogue 'You look like a Filipino maid'

This drama has the most adorable and heart touching story. In the last 2 episodes i can't stop crying. In ep 23 I cried because of their break-up. And in ep 24 I cried because I didn’t wanted the drama come to an end. Cause it really touched and my heart smile. I like the songs, cast /acting so much. Thanks for making a drama like this.

• I am not a Filipino but I saw the Filipino fans are getting angry and sad because of 'you look like a Filipino maid'. Please change this dialogue. Cause first of all, if it continues like that this drama will lose a lot of fans and the reputation also. And me as a fan of this drama I don’t want it to be happen.
• This is not...... the fault of the actors. So I request the fans not to blame the actors. The actors did what they were told to do.

I apologise if I hurted you with the words I written above. I am really really sorry. But I really think and want a change of it. I also heard that the drama is removed from the platform. This will lose many fans of this drama. So I request to give a concern about it.

Thank you...???
