I'm shallow enough to admit I only watched for the eye candy that is Jung Hae In.

I'm glad I didn't go into this with high expectations.Pro: -Interesting story of the politics in the 1980's in Korea. Certainly gave me McCarthyism vibes. Framing innocents and anyone in opposition of the government as spies by the police in the form of forced confessions. -The sweet lunch lady.-I got the eye candy in a much appreciated, but entirely unnecessary pull-up scene in episode 3.Con: -Jisoo's character, Eun Young Ro, was so annoying. I guess it's mostly personal taste in characters. I find weak, nonstop crying and whining in almost every scene beyond distracting. -Also, the whole everything will be sunshine and roses idea of Jung Hae In's character, Im Soo Ho, made me as a viewer mad at everyone who blindly followed, except the one voice of reason, Kim Min Gue's , Gyeok Chan.Other people seem to loved this one, but it wasn't for me. Jung Hae In looked amazing in it, but I had to fast forward through most of the crying scenes.

Literally crying myself to sleep. That was…

Literally crying myself to sleep. That was a brutal way to end the story. Young-ro has to live with the fact that her friends consider her a traitor and she's all alone because the three most important people to her are gone

This review will contain spoilers of the last episode.

I'm going to talk about spoilers so read the rest of this at your own risk. Warning....Last warning!.The last episode of Snowdrop is a perfect representation of the whole drama in every imaginable aspect. The production value is still very high. The technical aspects are done professionally and efficiently. The acting is good all around and everyone has done the best of their abilities to communicate the characters' emotions. And just like the rest of the show, the last episode suffers from fragmented narratives, messy stories that interrupt each other, and an overall chaotic atmosphere. In the interest of delivering a unified story, one must speak of how the show has proven itself incapable of maintaining a continuous and consistent tone throughout its run; something that is most clear in episode 16. After 15 episodes, the show finally drops its attempt to deliver dark humor in any simple or sophisticated manner and instead focuses on delivering as many conclusions as possible while also having its ideological thesis statement and a romantically tragic finale. Obviously, the runtime is still incapable of efficiently holding all that within itself and as a result, the episode feels erratic and overstuffed with content; lowering its emotional impact. Like most shows, Snowdrop also ends with a dramatic time skip. All key characters are shown in their happy epilogues except for Young Ro who has no choice but to look sad about a barely-there romance. While this inexplicable resolved conclusion works for certain shows (I liked it in Happiness), here it did not work very well. For one thing, Snowdrop is an ensemble show more than anything else and it repeatedly forced viewers to consume absurd amounts of complicated and entangled backstories that ultimately put characters in tragic positions that mere shots of them in their happily ever afters couldn't possibly satisfy. It lowers the impact of the entire narrative, no matter how sloppy it was up to that point, when loose ends are not so much wrapped up as glossed over. The dormitory that was exploded and trashed is suddenly okay and running again (who would trust sending their daughters there anymore?!) Boon ok's vengeful anger is suddenly gone (good for her but also how?!), Kang Moo and Han Ah's treason is seemingly totally forgotten and they are allowed to go live their happy lives (?)(did they quit the ANSP? Did Kang Moo cry when he heard Sooho died? Are they married? What happened to the journalist? How were they allowed to live?) These were all serious plotlines that were simply dropped through the convenient use of time skip. While solving those would have taken an entire other season and therefore impossible, given the fact that the show was already committed to its tragic conclusion, it would've been nice if other characters had also had realistic and somber endings that showed some lasting effects from all that happened in the plot before. For one thing, no one seemed particularly traumatized after the hostage situation, thinking specifically about Book Uk, Ms. Pi, and Young Ro. None of the characters seem permanently changed or moved and that's very underwhelming. The fact that the entire plot of the show is nullified and made irrelevant by the end is honestly the biggest insult the show manages to land.

this episode hurt me.

my favorite character died in the worst way possible. i don't wanna talk... when he kills all the agents in the basement and jisoo joined him, instead of crying, staring at each other's eyes, hugging, they had couple seconds to escape with hanna and gangmu. i'm gonna need a large second to process all of this.

HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO LIVE LAUGH LOVE IN THESE CONDITIONS

I've been sobbing uncontrollably since the end of this wonderful drama. I'm an emotional wreck yet again. Sooho dying in the most horrific and brutal way had me in tears. Yeoung-ro dearly loved Sooho, and I wished they could have had a happy ending, but that wasn't the case. Only one couple survived, so I'm glad Gang-Mu and Hanna have a chance to live a happy life. I wished we could’ve see the whereabouts of the other students but I’m fine with only seeing Ms. Pi slaying that colourful outfit.

MY HEART

I was so nervous throughout the episode. There were some things that could be questioned about the fates of characters, they didn't take away from my viewing experience as a whole. The ending was what I expected yet the way that it happened had me bawling. Youngsoo deserved better than to have Sooho die in Youngro's arms, though his death was realistic. Youngro listening to the recording her left her as she imagine the life that they could've lived as ordinary people was bittersweet. It's been hours & I'm still recovering so maybe I'll edit this later on.

I love you.

Love to see Gyeok Chan getting along with everyone one. I can't help but feel sad as what's about to befall Eung Cheol and Gyeok Chan as Mr. Kim drives past Soo Ho and Cheong Ya walking.

Han Na's speech teared me up, especially as the students answered her as she was encouraging them! "You never give up too!"

Ms. Pi's confession to Bun Ok just made me cry. I just feel bad for both of them. I understand why Bun Ok won't forgive her, but I also understand Ms. Pi's will to survive. Perhaps in a way, it's also a way for Bun Ok to survive, I hope she can find her peace even with Ms. Pi's confession.

I have no words, I don't even know what to say. Eung Cheol and Gyeok Chan, you didn't have to go like that. I hope this grandpa gets what he deserves, I am hoping either Cheong Ya or Soo Ho avenges them. I keep tearing up here... As much as I'd like to dedicate this review to only Eung Cheol and Gyeok Chan, I have to say that Soo Ho is an incredible character. The power of love.

I stand by what Soo Ho said to Man Dong, truly pitiful. It makes me wonder if his actions were for the sake of his country or if it was mostly self-interest.

Cheong Ya's unrequited love just breaks my heart. I hoped Soo Ho would at least tell her his name, as well.

Kang Mu's face as he saw Lim Soo Ho, you could just feel how relieved he was to see each other while at the same time puzzled. You can just feel the dilemma that Han Na's in.

I was literally smiling as Soo Ho was looking at Young Ro in the prayer room!

It all happened so fast. First there's a shootout next you have Soo Ho telling Kang Mu to get out with Young Ro. Suddenly, Friend is playing in the background and the tears come pouring down as Young Ro's trying to not let go of Soo Ho. Soo Ho calling Gang Mu his 형 is so emotional to me.

I am so heartbroken. "You must live. No matter... how hard it gets." "But I never regret meeting you. Young Ro, you bloomed flowers inside me who was so cold. Thank you." "I'm leaving, but... I will... I will... I'll remember you forever. Eun Young Ro, I love you."
