But, I liked the overall feel of the movie. I just wish it had a more concrete ending. I would totally rewatch it.

This movie was really, really good! And Satoh Takeru was absolutely mesmerizing as Aki. Aki's depression and his disgust with the whole music industry in general and with their manager in particular, the change in his outlook at life after meeting Riko and then his fall back into depression after the manager forced him to choose between his happiness and Riko's career... Satoh Takeru was so good!I think my favorite moments were the ones between Aki and Riko, and then between Aki and Shun. When Riko, a high school student, promised to take care of Aki after Aki fell apart in front of her... And Shun, so worried about Aki, prompting Aki to do what was best for him first, even if it meant leaving the country and them, their old friends, behind... That was so lovely!
But I have to say, if this tiny glimpse behind the scenes was even remotely close to what's really happening in the entertainment industry in Japan every day then... yeah, no. I would never even dip my toe into such a cesspool, thank you very much. The manager's behavior gave me honestly the creeps!

Takeru really shines in a drama where his character is serious, dark and suffers a lot. You can feel his sorrow, emptiness and suffering and happiness with that eyes and great use of that tears. Just love him. Although it can be a 10 episode drama, I cannot complain because I enjoyed this so much.
What I love about Japanese drama is they found character that really fit for the role and Riko and his band mate as well as the crude band was perfect.
Whoever composed that last song, I salute you. It really sends Aki's message for Riko. I think I just broke the reply button for that song.
Great drama for me. And I'm ready for the side story for this one. I think I will not watch the Korean version because this one engraves deeply to my heart like my stubbornness to watch Rich Man Poor woman k drama version because I love the Japanese Version so much..
Just try this one guys. You will love it.... :)

Too Short For Good Depth
LIKES:The cast was good and Takeru Sato as always played his role to perfection. He's good at playing a brooding character. Also I liked his chemistry with the FL, which helped with the emotional scenes. I like the production and cinematography. The scene after the credits finished, felt tacked on, but was needed to not have the viewers revolt. LOL. The songs were okay enough that I didn't have to mute them. I didn't notice any special effects.
DISLIKES:
Distortion on the songs, as if bad editing. It was very noticeable when the girl was singing and very bad during the song that played while the credits of the movie rolled. Not enough development of the storyline during the movie, this should’ve been a series of episodes. That also caused a lack of character depth and made everything seem rushed. Because of the lack of screen time for ML and FL, the heartbreaking moments fell flat, as there was no real connection to show the viewer the depth of their relationship. Maybe that’s why they added an extra moment after the end of the credits, but it felt slapped on like an after-thought. Could've just been bad editing. The writing seemed mashed together, because some of the dialog was lacking. The South Korean version of this movie of the same name, was done in 16 episodes that were 60 minutes each. That show gave enough time for character development, depth and growth, plus a better timed plot and completed storyline. This Japanese version as a movie had so much potential and failed. Not even Takeru Satoh could save this and he's mostly the reason I gave it even a 5/10 rating.
OVERALL:
It's an easy watch and we get to see Takeru Satoh kiss, lol. For someone who never read the manga or seen the 2017 S. Korean version, it could be enjoyable. I wont rewatch it, and am on the fence about recommending it too.

SOOO GOOOOOOD!!! I love music, I love romantic story, I love not-too-cheesy-but-please-don't-be-too-serious theme, I love good looking guy...and this movie gave it all (^o^)I love when Aki wear a glasses, a headphone and compose the song with the guitar.. *nosebleed*
But, I personally really touched with the scene when Aki crying in the stair, trying to recording his humming with the phone, and then throw that phone because his throat can't make any sound except crying sound. Sato Takeru acting was sooo great in that scene.
And I ❤❤❤ all the songs in this movie, especially Chippoke na Ai no Uta (^_^)

The love story between aki and riko was so sweet. I like the story about how to life with music , the plots are good, for actors and actress has no doubt, all of them are good in acting.. either the protagonist nor antagonist, their act makes me satisfying to watch this movie.
And the important thing is, I like all their song ^-^ (I think after write this review I will download all the song...xoxo..)
Rewatch, maybe I will rewatch this story when I feel down.. It so entertaining
Overall, I think this movie can be inspiring, specially for those who likes music, so they will rewatch.

Nice movie to pass time, great cast/songs, but no unique plot/characters.
Well, I didn't know what to expect when watching this movie, but since both Satoh Takeru and Kubota Masataka which are among my top 10 Japanese actors are in it (And both looked hot as fuck with those hairstyles), I couldn't help but watch it instantly. Unsurprisingly the movie was actually good, and I enjoyed it quite a lot. Although I don't understand why the girl had to be a high schooler...when is that fetish gonna end in Japan seriously! If ML was a fellow teen then I wouldn't nag, but it's almost always a minor girl and adult dude, it could be a college girl and an older dude instead. There is also that CEO or whatever he is supposed to be guy (Whom mari cheated on Aki with), who is also a total creep. He discovered Mari back when she was a student, then he sleeps with her later. What is this?! I personally would never view someone I knew since they were a minor that way even after they become an adult Lmao
The girl had the typical looks/personality we see in Japanese romance plots. She has the usual short hair that is preferably brown or light colored (Her hairstyle is ugly, but somehow the actress made it work on her so it looked decent, but on most people it will look hideous), cute and childish facial features (Which isn't a problem at all to clarify, I'm not bashing her looks, she is adorable and I know that's also the Japanese beauty standard, besides she is playing the role of a teen as well so it fits), high pitched voice, is "innocent", loud, dense, dull, has bland fashion style, and is utterly clumsy. Also she acts and talks in a kinda anime like way. But for some reason all the guys will get obsessed with her all of a sudden and fight over her cause she is "precious and special" and has the magical ability to heal mental issues of ML/make him change.
The whole "I will protect you from everything" out of the blue made me cringe. Like girl you just met him and you act as if he is your soulmate whom you dated for at least 5 years. Her singing voice was beautiful though, I enjoyed hearing her sing, not sure if that was the actress herself singing or not. They also had to add the misunderstanding thing between FL, ML, and Mari (Of course she had to be a crazy and selfish ex) so that FL will get depressed, avoid ML, then Shinya will get closer to her to piss of ML. Plus the scandal as another hurdle. They sure love doing that.
Anyway apart from the creepiness related to the age difference between the main leads, them falling for each other a bit too quick for my liking, and other clichés, they had good chemistry (Not great but good enough), and the romance between them was overall sweet I guess. Honestly I was mostly interested in the music aspects and the whole issues between Aki with his musical struggles and doubts, that shit producer, and the Crude Play band members than the romance.
The characters overall felt one dimensional, like ML the whole him being depressed over Mari or whatever was boring, I couldn't care less about it. I think since it's a movie and not a drama, the characters didn't get a proper chance to develop and just remained the same till the end. The ending (After the credit) was predictable and cliché too.
The songs they played in the movie were all great, will make sure to download them all later if I find them. The movie had a melancholy vibe to it that I liked. The stage name Mush was cute.

Watch it until after the credits
Satoh Takeru - yup, that's why I watched it. He's intense and, as usual, I enjoyed his performance. The scene where he sent her away was heartbreaking. His hair was too long and you couldn't see his eyes, and it seriously needed to be washed. But, I digress...This movie is hard for me to rate. It left me feeling dissatisfied, for lack of a better word. Maybe there wasn't enough time to develop the characters more fully (but I don't care enough to watch the Korean version for more story). Part of my problem is that I don't like liars. That part of the story didn't go on for too terribly long. That she was a high school student was a little problematic, but it didn't seem too noticeable.
Everyone just seemed not too terribly likeable. I was bothered by the fact that the ML had money, fame, etc. and walked around like he'd just been given a death sentence. That's the point, I know, but it just irritated me.
Maybe it was my frame of mind when I watched it. If you want to try it, at least you won't be out too much time.

very bonggang production
just wtf. the production is very bongga. i actually watched first the series (korean) and didn't knew that this should be watched first. well, anyway, the plot is not really superb but it's so good. the songs are great too. the castings are, well, pogi ni shinya haha. they really slayed the character. and mush is too cute. just how emotions can make u write a song? they are just genuises. i am actually listening to the ending song, (thanks spots) and just can't get over with it. omg, i ran out of words, i need to write 500 characters.so uh, the story started when the two leads met in the river (hangang river vibes) and then the lying competition begins. well, it made me mad where in how can guys play with girls feelings? and a highschooler? this shows that highschoolers are quite vowvow. you know, they are easy to manipulate. the age gap is just too much for the leads but if that handsome, sure why not. watch this if you're bored.

I watched Korean drama so I able to understand the movie otherwise there is no synchronization of story ,secondly I am not emotionally connected with the lead actor's story that his ex left him and he felt sad all the time and by the time someone enter his life and he emotionally move towards .Here the way they connected and fallen in love and they separated and again meet ,everything is not well organized and showed I guess. And I think there is some missing elements in the story line. Love triangle they don't shown properly.Korean drama is far better.

I saw only 10 sides of manga (targeting teenager girls) and i found it childish (You should know, I'm not age group suitable for this product, I'm 22 years old and I had never liked anime / manga for girls).
Story could have been realy interesting (up to 9 points), but..., My first objection is lenght. This movie is like reduced long drama serie. Second, I didn't believe in their love (for the first sight), and in their relationship. They started dating before second meeting? She was too much young, there wasn't problem...? Everything was terrible fast (but If you are younger than me, it can be OK for you). Thirth, this is movie for girls, so you suppose, that the main female lead can be your alterego. The female lead was only simply mask without features (like shell) for me, I can't identify with her, I can't sympathize with her. Fifth, name of movie mentioned "liar". Yes, there were lies, but you presuppose, that there will be huge exposure of these lies, there will be emotions... But no, I feel like everything is stream without dramatic swinging, revelation of secret nothing changes. I feel like I saw naive dream of teenager girl without this teenager girl. Sixth, I ended without feeling of story's solution, I had questions, but no answers (in this genre you suppose, that there will be answers, it's not art house).
Only thing I realy like was theme of fake and pure music, but I didn't notice, that it was solved somehow in the end. Everything is in bright , nice colours.
Acting - Sato Takeru is actor, it's obviously, and his character is written better then another ones. I can't say anything else about other actors, their characters (personage) was writen realy bad, they couldn't make nothing in these roles.
Music was great, it was main reason that I watched it.
I won't re-watch this movie again. I hope there will be drama series about this manga someday.
If there is amount of story and only two hours of movie, in the end viewer can feel like - there nothing happens - and I have this feeling, I saw something, where nothing hapend, because every dramatic expectation faded. So if you have not so much expections, you can love it, I had expectations due to high rating. You can love it, if you're younger, If you know manga, if you are not so much critic (I'm extracritic). I should say, that I don't like so much movies based on girl's manga (Kimi ni Todoke, Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu, Himitsu no Akko-chan), it's too much naive for me, so If you like these movies, you can love this movie too.
