They both have a similar tone.
Both male and female leads are in high school and live together (though for different reasons).
The female leads is are similar to each other: not too bright, but kind.
The male leads are similar as well: cold, but then warms up to the female lead.

In both dramas there is an adorable leading lady and an equally adorable mother of the leading man. The mother goes to great lengths to match make for this couple..
Differences:
Itazura na Kiss' leading man is the typical cliche smart and handsome Jerk. He does NOT want to admit that he likes the girl, even to himself. The leading lady is adorable and sweet. She is not very talented but determined to better herself.
My Mr. Mermaid's leading man is dedicated to his sport but kind and sweet. He seems quite smitten with the leading lady, right away. The leading lady is dedicated to becoming a good reporter, but equally dedicated to being an honest upright person and good friend.

Itazura na Kiss is based on a manga and there were versions made in Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Thailand, and China... I loved them all. However, if you do not like going through all of those episodes, that make it seem like the girl is chasing a guy who is just not that into her, try Kiss Me(the Thai version) first. In that version, it is apparent, very early on that he has a soft spot for her, compared to the rest.

Both of the dramas have a perfect guy and a, rather dumb, girl. Girl falls in love with the guy, they (kind of) start living together and the comedy ensues!

This is also another series which had many different adaptations of the same story before. It was adapted from the Japanese Shojo manga called Itazura no Kiss, and just like Meteor Garden, has many versions alongside this one.

Basically, all of the "Itazura na Kiss" movies and TV dramas are very closely similar to "Good Morning Call". The male protagonist is cold and straightforward, the female lead is clumsy, but warm-hearted. The plots are overlapping with the love story between the main two.

Both dramas show young love and school scenarios
The FL in both has an unrequited love for the ML which is not reciprocated at first but soon the MLs fall in love with the FLs
Both are very fluffy and warm dramas that melt your hearts

Both has similar character leads. A cheerful-eccentric-careless female character and handsome-genius-cold male character.
