Definitely very nice story.

I started watching this drama just because of Luo Yun Xi (Leo Luo) and Cheng Xiao pairing. I just wanted to check how well it worked. The whole drama turned out to be better than I expected. Please just consider Lie to Love to have Season 2. Very nice story. They deserve for another season. Please. Please. Please. I like there chemistry very much.

Please Season 2. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please. Please

Have a Good OST

The reason why I watched this drama was because Luo Yun Xi was in the cast's list, and I would feel guilty if I didn't watch his act, even if I can't finished it. I also want to give Cheng Xiao a chance, after watching her dramas so many times and none of them were satisfactory.

But again I was let down.

Maybe I set my standards too high, but the only thing that's nice to see (or listen) in this drama is the OST, even that isn't strong enough to leave an impression. Too bad. In the synopsis the plot looks promising, and I imagine how complicated the tug of war between the two main castings is, until finally little by little the grudge between them is unraveled. Instead of seeing this, from the first few episodes, it was known that Female Lead only misunderstood and accused Man Lead. Then Man Lead's uncle who knows everything about his nephew is too unreasonable. Plus Second Man is too shrewd to beat Man Lead. I finished this drama, but I skipped far more than I watched.

Looks like I won't be seeing another CX drama again, rather than being disappointed again. Poor LYX, he was dragged down because of the disproportionate acting.

Btw, Chestnut looks so cute~! I love him more than another cast in this drama. Hahaha.

Lie to Love Review

Cheng Xiao Leo Luo Pairing=Must Watch

I like how it started off interesting where SXY seems like an investigator and all the deceits she pulls off successfully to try and find evidence of her father's death. However this part dies down when LZL comes into play and whatever she did was either redundant/harming LZL. Then the interesting part that kept me watching was when SXY will find out who XMH really is and how the ending will turn out. Overall I think it is still quite a simple plot other than XMH's role which we usually see in female villain roles. Romance wise I would give it an 8/10. Mainly because I love LZL's loyalty even though SXY pretended to forget him and how he always defend her in any situation. SXY is lacking in this aspect imo which is why i deducted points. However CX is really pretty and her outfits in this drama are so good. Would rewatch for the fashion value.

A show you cannot fast forward

I shall be honest. I am not someone who would pick C-dramas with deep plotting, twists and suspense as my first choice. I would rather choose the usual light-hearted, rom-com C-dramas anytime where I can switch off my brain and enjoy the cliches and sweet, happy endings. So I tend to choose the heavier C-dramas carefully given I am just not into them.

I watched Luo Yun Xi’s recent 2 modern C-dramas (the heartbreaking scientist show and this one) which were, to me, heavier dramas that you had to keep listening in to the dialogue in order to catch the plot development. While I was dragging my feet as I watched his other scientist show, I was certainly not dragging mine in this show. From the get go in episode 1, the plot kicks off and viewers are immediately brought into the plot, unable to fast forward given we need to keep watching each scene to find out what happens next (Every time the plot develops, the familiar suspense music kicks off in the background as well until it got stuck in my head). At the same time, the plot wasn’t too heavy for my liking. It struck a good balance with the light hearted parts of the drama, as well as against the romance/bromance of the characters.

As usual Luo Yun Xi’s acting was great. He held the show with his steadfast and smart character and made up for Cheng Xiao’s beginner acting skills (Not that she had bad acting, it’s just that due to her skills, their chemistry wasn’t 10/10). Strangely I found she was stiffer in this show compared to her earlier gaming show with Xu Kai. I think she suits the cutesy role better at this point.

Overall, I would recommend the show.

A Perfect Romantic Thriller series

Totally loved the show, it's story, characters & chemistry between the leads was awesome, it was an emotional roller coaster journey throughout the show.
Male Lead- Saw him in Love Is Sweet, loved his character in his previous show, but he totally levelled up his acting skills by playing a handicapped character. His character Le Zi Liang stoled the show for me in this show.
Female Lead- Her acting was so good, although heard her from the show falling into your smile, but her character in this was much better, as compared to other female characters the show. my only Little problem with her was her character lacked emotions, she was okay okay in the emotional scenes, but apart from that totally loved her in the show as much as male lead
2ML- Totally Hated his character from the beginning the way he tortured both of the sisters & forced the female lead to love him, but kudos to the actor for playing such a baddie.

Show Review:- Loved this show totally, every character got what they deserved in the end ,would love to watch these kind of romantic thriller shows like this.

Finally, a Luo Yunxi drama where you can actually feel that the female lead loves the male lead

An above average modern idol drama with all the baggage of the genre, but actually watchable and fun this time. Cheng Xiao, unlike her fellow idols, actually do try to act instead of phoning it in for a quick paycheck. Sometimes it's exhausting to watch her because she's just so close, one more step and she would've gotten the emotional depth required. But still, she gets the basic characteristics of the female lead down and doesn't add anything contrary to that. Su Xieyi is above all, courageous and brave, in both the pursuit of the truth and in love. Cheng Xiao brings the likeability aspect of that trait to the table. Also Su Xieyi is definitely not stupid nor unreasonable, which is a relief. Luo Yunxi, as usual, outclasses his fellow actors to the point where it sometimes feel like he's in a different genre entirely (complimentary). Li Zeliang has that old money feel of an Oxbridge alumni, with the steadiness and intelligence such an aesthetic brings to mind. Luo Yunxi brings out the complixity of Li Zeliang through his acting alone. How Zeliang grappled with his disability, his pride and his envy, his hatred and his love, all were done brilliantly and with a special depth not many would pour into an idol drama. And the best thing about this drama is that the main couple! The main couple actually love each other! They compliment each other! You as the audience feel that these two people actually like each other! That their love is a two way street! That they are actually good for each other! It's rarer these days than you think.

Luo Yunxi's Dramas have that suspense , a little bit of business and an epic love story

Came here after watching Leo's Love is sweet and Cheng Xiao's falling into your smile . Was not disappointed . Good drama love , suspense , mystery . Could've included the supporting characters story a bit more. The last 5 episodes will keep you at the edge of your seats. Maybe a bit of encouragement to people with disability as well. Even though its harder for them in real . Li Ze Liang's assistant is one the best supporting characters i've seen in the last 5 dramas i watched . Due lei to Ming Hao 2 good villian characters . They made me hate them meaning they did a good job/acting. Worth the watch

So, as always, if it's Leo I am bound to watch the drama no matter what. I started this drama only for Leo but from the beginning I realised it was an interesting story line. All the characters pulled of their roles so well. I was glad that they unveiled and removed Li Ze Liang's uncle from the picture early on in the drama and that they didn't drag his story until the end. You kind of start to know that the lawyer is the main evil in the drama but it was still surprising to see how evil and crazy he was.
I loved that the male lead believed the female lead no matter what and that he was so gentle and loving towards her. However, Xie Yi didn't really put her 100% trust in him when the matter with her sister happened. I feel as if this was one of the downsides of the relationship but yes she did secretly help him and of course went back to him. In Lie to Love, the main leads get together so naturally, like how it may be in real-life. There was no sappy confession or anything too cliche. I loved this.
There were funny moments as well in the drama with the second main leads and it took away the tension from the episodes.
Last point I have to make is that I also love how the female lead calls the male lead by a name that no one else calls him by. I always love unique names and nicknames that dramas use.
Putting aside the small cons of the drama, overall it was a great one and worth the wait.

Great potential, failed to deliver.

I honestly was excited to watch this drama considering it has Leo in it. I’ve been watching his past dramas and waiting for his next drama with Bai Lu when this caught my eye. I recognized Cheng Xiao right away and was very interested in the plot as I saw the trailer. Safe to say, I had high hopes for this drama.

Sad to say, it just didn’t deliver.

Overall, it had great potential, from plot to acting. But after the first episode, it was a letdown. Let me try to break it down, and going forward will use LYX and CX for the actors and will focus more on them.

PLOT/STORY

It had a great plot at the beginning. I mean, who doesn’t like the lovers to enemies to lovers trope? Not to mention we started off with a badass CX who weaved through like a spy. I’m always a sucker for strong, independent FL’s, especially in thriller/mystery/suspense. The summary itself already told me it’s gonna be FL investigating the truth about the past and her family, not to mention, pretending to have amnesia to get back at her ex. But then, from the first ep to the last…the plot and genre just went downhill. Where was the badass and smart FL from episode 1? It kinda got lost along the way. I also do not understand the director/producer/writer’s decision to be all over the place? Like, it seemed they want all the genre in each episode and sometimes the plot just didn’t make sense. Neither was the character’s actions and words. It seemed the smart main characters that was introduced in the beginning lost that trait along the way.

ACTING

As I entered this drama, I haven’t seen any of CX’s work before. So I had high hopes from the trailer alone since it seemed it was gonna be interesting. LYX, I already knew I was gonna like since he just had this charm on camera that although sometimes his character’s actions are over the top or stupid, you can’t help but ignore that. Not to mention, LYX’s eyes and expressions. I can see why he’s rising to fame fast.

To be perfectly honest, I probably stayed to watch the entire drama just for LYX alone.

As for CX’s acting, I think this “heavy” drama needed more from her. Definitely has potential, but it kinda became lacking. Her expressions seemed to look the same all throughout, stiff and uncaring. Though there are times that she perfectly did well on some scenes, like being cute and playful. But other times, I can’t tell if it’s her character or just her acting that constantly stays in the RBF mode. CX probably needs more acting experience. Certainly, she has potential.

Chemistry of the two were subpar. Sometimes it’s there, sometimes it’s not. They look great together but it just didn’t give that “spark”. They are cute in their scenes but there’s just something there that doesn’t make the cut.

OVERALL

I will probably not rewatch. So much plotholes and character traits lost that the whole plotline itself seemed so far away from what they said it would be. The actors tried their very best though.

If you expected a good suspense/romance drama, it’s not really there. If you’re not here for the plot but for the actors, then by all means, watch, but don’t get your hopes up for the script/storyline!

Cheng Xiao needs to improve

Having watched "Love is sweet"with the same ML, it is obvious that the chemistry is very different very bad here, and the difference is due to the FL,Cheng Xiao. She could hardly make eye contact with her partner and fellow actors. Her face and voice is totally lacking in expressions,I wonder if perhaps there's so much botox that all the facial muscles died. Not 9nce did she manage a proper smile, merely pressing her lips together is NOT a smile !
The short skirts they gave her is mostly crouch length suitable for a prostitute, just a few inches longer could make a huge difference in being "classy"obviously the stylists do not understand class and elegance
The songs sung in English was cringey and awful. The singer has such bad pronunciation of the English language. The melody is clearly written for a Chinese song with some random English words thrown in.

another bored plot

Watch this like Blizzardahm, also for Cheng Xiao and Luo Yunxi, also not hoping too much for the plot nor the chemistry. But in the end I really bored with the plot of crazy psychopath that doing anything in the name of love. So yeah I drop the star.

The first part drama still catch my interest, but the later part really bored me until I can't take it anymore and just decided to jump watch the last episode. My lost interest start after the Huo Jian arrested and the bad buy swift to Xie Ming Hao. After I can guess what this plot will gonna bring in the end, and after the reveal of what happen in the past to Su Xie Yi's dad I decided just stop watching and just watch the end.

The only good thing from this drama is in my opinion is the song. I quite love the soundtrack. But everything else just mediocre. The chemistry between Cheng Xiao and Luo Yunxi also not so much, not enough to save the drama. I more love to see the chemistry between Luo Yunxi & Bai Lu. Really looking forward for their drama this year.

Overall another mediocre drama to watch if only u are the fans of the actror/ess that played this drama.

Mystery suspense drama w/some romance that keeps u going n curious about how things will unfold...

What I like:
- The genre is kinda new for me, the mystery suspense mixed with hotel business rivalries n some romance... I like n enjoyed most of it...
- The fake amnesia plot didn’t drag, it was found out early (eps6), so some unnecessary misunderstandings were solved fast...
- There were 2 big villains n they kinda split the drama to 2parts, so first half the leads were against that Huo Jian n the 2nd part were against XMH... honestly I prefer the 1st part where for me it’s much more interesting in how they unfolded the story... plus it was a fun watch with all the suspense they gave becoz of the reckless SXY n how LZL helped her getting thru lots of probs... i always like this work together side by side kinda plot...
- The cast... mainleads r eyecandies n they r good to look at... but not only that, I like the actor, he always delivers... n the actress has improved compared to her other dramas... their chems is ok... other characters did their parts too...
- The OST is good...

What I’m not so fond of:
- The 2nd part of the drama was not as good as the 1st part... for me crazy XMH got too much screentime n for a while it looks like he dominated the story... i always hate when that happens... i know it’s not for too long, but still, the part where he kidnapped SXY’s sis n became psycho n threatened SXY with her sis so she had to leave LZL n be with him annoyed me coz he is just so creepy, so I skipped lots of that...
- SXY was good in the 1st half, smart independent gal who wanted revenge for her father... but somehow after she got together with LZL, she got a bit less smart... she trusted XMH too much n even so compared to LZL which is her BF who she was supposed to trust more after all he’s done for her... at least she got back to her original character near the end...

Overall I still like this drama... it’s a new genre for me n production wise I think they executed it well enough... it had that suspense that kept u going n curious... it makes u watch the next eps coz even if somehow u can see the big picture, but u still wanna see how they unfold things...
