Body swap and more!
I came across this drama precisely a year after it ended. I didn't even know it existed, but a dear MDL user suggested it and here i am!First and foremost, it's a romantic comedy fantasy drama. Initially wanted to give it a 10, but the ending was with an unnecessary twist and that wasn't to my taste. Unlike many Cdramas i have watched till today, it's not cringey and it doesn't get draggy at all, which is a bonus. And, it's so light-hearted that you can relax and watch it. There are mishaps and adversaries, but they are solved eventually. In addition, it has no stiff love triangles! The leads only have eyes on each other.
Story:
I was kinda shocked to see a Cdrama with decent writing. Except for a few plots, most of the problems are addressed in the end and no loopholes are left. Some say the second leads should have been paid attention to, but i think not all friendships should turn into relationships and that was fine. I liked the body swap aspect, and it was elaborate enough to get invested in the story. Until then they decided to change the ending and make it realistic, rather than a fantasy drama. They could've stayed with the actuality of body swap happening to the leads and that was just beautiful.
Acting:
I was already familiar with Liang Jie in Eternal love and i was expecting to see some fun, naughty acting, which she delivered quite well. The ML, Zhang Xincheng, delivered a magnificent act. We get to see a shy, introverted guy with a traumatic past fall in love with an ordinary girl with a warm heart. The lead's acting and chemistry were 10/10 for me. Plus, they bring about the kiss scenes so genuine and beautiful that you can't take your eyes off them.
The second leads and supporting cast were decently portrayed.
Music:
I loved the pieces played throughout the show, especially "my soul" by steven zhang. He has such an angelic voice.
Chemistry:
I wanted to add this section, because i think it's as important as other aspects. nowadays, we get to see so many dramas where the leads have zero chemistry but go on kissing, hugging and etc. These two love birds actually have hot chemistry. Their love is believable and you get to feel the sorrow they are put in.
Overall, a pleasurable binge-watch for me. I will definitely go back and rewatch some of their lovey-dovey scenes.

The best modern romantic comedy-drama I've watched so far this year!
I was pleasantly impressed by this drama; no filler moments and the pacing was quite fast, the plot is a bit cliched, but it was handled flawlessly. It mostly centers on the main leads' relationship, and the body-switching thing made this drama extremely hilarious and interesting. I couldn't stop laughing and smiling at every hilarious scene; it was a lot of fun. There are also several intense kissing scenes and confession scenes in this drama that was nicely done. I also love how the main characters' relationship grows over time; the body-switching brought them closer together, helped them understand each other, and allowed them to encounter a life they had never experienced before. They're both flawed, yet the way they're portrayed allows you to understand and empathize with their flaws. One of the drama's main charms is the acting. Liang Jie surprised me with her outstanding performance. Her cool smirks, actions like sitting as if a guy and pissed-off facial expressions were all on point- she looks and acts exactly like Jiang Yi. For Steven Zhang, he embraced his role and delivered a perfect performance. I highly agree with what the Chinese netizens said; he truly deserves to win the award for best actress. The facial expressions, movements, and delivery of the lines he made as a girl were all flawless and somehow relatable. He has always been an amazing actor, but here he showed something that I believe a lot of young Chinese actors lack: versatility.
And in terms of chemistry, Steven Zhang and Liang had excellent chemistry. Everything appears to be natural. It would be great to see them collaborate on a project again.
Overall, this drama comes highly recommended and is worth seeing. A well-written drama with an excellent cast, acting, chemistry, and OST.
It's a 10/10 for me. ❤️

It's been a really fun ride
I came into The Day of Becoming You with a low expectation.First episode, I was like, "Okay, it's an ok drama". But starting from episode 2 onwards, I can't stop watching. I binged the whole drama in less than a week, abandoning all the works that I'm supposed to be doing.
A body swap romcom done right.
While the circumstances of this drama is very unrealistic and can feel very over the top and tropey, this drama somehow manages to not feel cheesy. In fact, this drama is REALLY FUNNY. I can't help but laugh and smile at each and every hilarious scenes. it's really entertaining. The pacing is really good, and I love the way the relationship between the main leads grow over time. They don't purposely drag misunderstandings just to prolong the episodes. The characters are complex and actually have logic. You see their point of views and you can understand why they do certain things. The drama does not have "filler" stories that are unnecessary.
[a bit of 'spoiler'] It does have a quite questionable 'prologue and epilogue' that maay be a way to escape censorship? that I totally disregard. it may break your viewing experience but can totally be ignored, in my opinion.
ACTING IS AMAZING
The two main leads. Wow. If not for anything, watch this drama for their acting. I like how the two main actors handle the two characters. I can see they both put in effort and detail in their acting (while also having so much fun I guess). They are pretty convincing at portraying each other's roles, especially Zhang Xincheng's take on the female lead being in the male lead's body. The chemistry between the two main leads is also really really good.
Music and HILARIOUS sound effects
Everyone who watches this drama will know that this drama has some very iconic music and sound effects that really makes funny scenes just 100% funnier. That 'heyaaa' , 'yo', 'round one', and that classical music really adds to the comedy.
When they are on serious or heartwarming scenes, this drama does have some pretty good music too.
Other than that, the production quality is very good, I have no complaints. The product placement is kind of everywhere and makes me hungry :) but is okay
Overall, this is a very good drama if you just want something that is light and funny with a very decent romance.

Best Romantic Comedy Drama EVERRRR
This drama is about a super star, through an unexpected event exchange body with an entertainment reporter. When come to the plot, it sound so mediocre but this is the best exchanging body drama i’ve ever watch. There are a lot of reasons why i love love this drama so much. And to me, the drama has nothing i dislike about.Firstly, although this drama make the main leads meet through the unrealistic event like exchanging body, but they also provide the scientific reason why the exchange body event happen. Through the unrealistic plot, the drama provide a lot of realistic story. For example, the main leads doesn’t suddenly fall with each other, they give reasons to why they fall in love. From being a stranger to a supportive friend then lover, this drama is really good at telling story. Besides this, i also love the fact that every people surrounding them are nothing but supportive people, love and care about them. There’s no misunderstanding between the main leads. Moreover, the story is really really funny, i laugh till i cry especially the background music that they use really fit well with each situation. Ohh i forgot to mention that i cry twice in this drama in the confess scene. The confess scene was so perfect, i was so happy that the tears rolling on my face(P.S even though i watch a lot of romance drama but i’ve never had this experience before). Lastly, lemme talk about how great Zhang xincheng and liang jie acting are. They were so good at portraying each other when they exchange body especially Zhang Xincheng, the way he portrayed female was so funny. (The tuck the invisible hair behind the ear’s gesture was one of my favorite when they exchange the body) *applause* All in all, I RECOMMEND THIS DRAMA TO EVERYONE ANYONE ON THIS PLANET PLEASE PLEASE GIVE THIS A TRY AND U WONT DISAPPOINT.

A unique way to fall in love
A cute concept that grabs you right from the start. Body switching isn’t new, but it’s done very well in this drama. What better way to understand a person than to spend some time in their body. That’s exactly what the FL and ML do. They gradually experience each other through this unique interaction. The script is well written and well acted. Steven Zhang and Liang Jie performed their parts to perfection. Becoming a man in a woman’s body and vise versa can be challenging. Carrying the characteristics of the opposite sex can also be difficult but they pulled it off well. When they finally confess to each other the moment will grab you. That’s what I like about this romance. It gradually sweeps you into their dilemma and you will want them to love each other. As their romance grows you will hope they take it to another level, and they do. A natural progression of two people struggling in a romance that can only be described as a rare blessing.
Be patient as the story unfolds and you will enjoy the experience. It’s the repeating switches that make it all real. Look forward to each one and you will experience it with them.

My new Secret Garden!
I really really loved Secret Garden back in the day when I just started watching k-dramas. I loved and still do stories with fantasy/supernatural themes such as superpowers, ghosts & mediums, gods & deities or any kind of supernatural side effect due to "fateful encounters" or astrology based phenomenons. So this C-drama was right up my alley when i read the synopsis.I have to admit it was a bit slow paced, and in some parts the comical music & effects were a bit annoying, but there are also loads of other stuff I appreciated compared to a standard k-drama.
For example: every time the main characters changed bodies, their demeneaor changed to represent the other person is in their body. But it wasn't really "the fake girly" or "toxic masc" kind if behaviour. They were based off their personalities, the male lead became extroverted and talkative, sometimes acting cute too. The female lead became taciturn, serious and reserved. The fact that they could pull these acts perfectly every single time without a hinch was amazing. Also the face expressions?? Hello? I haven't seen such natural face expressions and crying scenes in so long. Artificial tears who? We don't know her. They even looked beautiful while crying which is a bonus. It wasn't tok dramatic or exagerrated with snot and puffy red eyes. Someone who doesn't do the "ugly cry" freely shows much more restraint hence I believe they are hurting even more than the ones who can cry as much as they want.
Also liked the fact that there wasn't too much of a love triangle, it was brief for max 2-3 eps and they wrapped it up quickly & nicely with no crazy ex following female lead around for forgiveness or revenge. Not all exes have to be petty, k-drama writers, please take notes!!
Overall, I really liked the mains chemistry and the fact that they had good communication throughout the whole series and healthy relationship behaviour dsspite of all the hardships they went through with mutual respect & support, means a lot for the image media is trying to portray of modern couples in fictional dramas.
I gave it 9/10 cause I was excited, but realistically I think it would be an 8.5/10, which is not bad either way, right?

Cute and Charming
I truly enjoyed The Day of Becoming You. The acting is superb. It's a well written storyline and i especially loved the chemistry of the main leads. I have been watching some c dramas where the romance falls flat . This one delivers all the feels and heartfelt moments you hope for in a romantic comedy. The comic timing of the MLis pretty much perfect and the FL is also quite good. I think the songs add to the series charm and make it more enjoyable. I had mixed feelings about the sound effects. They were funny, but a bit overused . Sometimes less is more. But overall this series is well done, well acted, and i just love it!

Chemistry b/w leads is sizzling
Continuously binge-watched for 2 times. Both Steven Zhang and Liang Jie have done excellent jobs portraying their counterparts. Chemistry b/w leads is out of the charts. They feel so comfortable with each other as they have been living together. BGM was another plus point to the drama making hilarious scenes come alive. OST was also good and played at the right moments. Even though the plot feels cliched(body swap), the drama never lacks behind anything. There is no love triangle, no misunderstandings, no haters for the lead to spoiling their relationship. Every cast seems to be supportive of leads. The drama is so refreshing that it just leaves a smile at end of each episode.Overall, a definite watch if you are looking for something refreshing, joyful with great chemistry.
Looking forward to Steve Zhang's more works as he has the incredible acting ability.

The body swapping makes things so interesting...the romance and chemistry is on point ..the editing on this drama is amazing as well...the editing makes it so much more interesting to watch n more comedic .it also shows the struggles of women to some extent...Steven Zhang's acting is on point ...he isn't making it cringe ....he has acted like a real women...Liang jie is also acted well...the music is good...it's not boring...it has the perfect mix of drama n comedy...unlike other Chinese dramas where FL is shy to engage in romance...it's not the case here...every slight misunderstandings between the leads... totally a good watch if u r looking for comedy n romance...Was this review helpful to you?
Very easy and enjoyable to watch the WHOLE time (esp after first 5 ep) + act NOT VERY CLICHE
i gave this a 10 overall for the reason of the headline. i give most good sotrylines a 9.5 but its only a 10 for me if personally it was very enjoyable which it was. i thought it was pretty funny, i liked the soundtrack + sound effects, theyre acting was enjoyable and when they swap you can really tell from the way they sit (which might be cliche but i thought was cute) + their chemistry was really good imo.the concept is pretty common, and is act usally not rlly my thing bcs ik how it would go. like the hate to love and problems are the same ish, i went into this thinking theyre be a lot of cliches (which is fine by me), but even though it had its fair share i act think it DIDN'T, which was a PLEASANT SURPRISE!!!
- ya they didnt get along at first but it was never hate, just like annoyance, and they always respected each others stuff, and what that person needs to do.
- the friend thats a girl is not some bitchy jealous person.
- there were no family objections and as far as the people around him were lowkey supportive.
- there was no like "enemy". like ya there was the girl at her work but it was just like office competition. even the paparazzi wasn't like a main enemy focus.
- they didnt start pairing ppl around the main characters together (WHATTT??)
even though the first ep was like meh, after the like 5ish ep + when they lowkey started liking each other, it really was very enjoyable until the end.
SPOILERS
i wish they made a call back to the two boxes thing omg i died watching that scene soo funnyy. (but lowkey seemed outside of his character)
i rlly liked the background of the best friend and the FL's idol. i thought it was rlly funny n cute and i rlly esp liked how they didnt end up together which was consistent to her character.
i also liked how despite the story at first making it seem like the bandmates were enemies, they weren't, they just weren't necessarily close. as in, i like how they didn't create unnecessary beef between them or make him some sort of like enemy within the walls b.s. that some shows do.

Loved it!
From the comedy to the romance between the leads, I have no complaints. There a plenty of moments to make you literally laugh out loud, and the chemistry between the leads will make your heart flutter. The acting was great, and it never felt cringey. The soundtrack was nice as well. As someone who rarely fully finishes romantic c-dramas, this drama managed to get me to finish the whole thing even when it did drag near the end. I think what makes this drama different than it’s counterparts is that you can really tell that the leads are really made for each other and that they’re more than just their quirks. They are characters that have dimension to them. Plus you actually feel excited about their relationship after they do get together as opposed to other dramas where you’re pretty much over it as soon as they get together. Overall, definitely give this drama a go!Was this review helpful to you?

One thing is for sure. You shouldn't miss it.
This one took the body-swap plot into new enjoyable heights. It’s no surprise that when it comes to body-swapping plot, things are bound to get hilarious. Watching two people try to navigate the different nature of their opposite gender is usually headed into some awkward, funny, and at some level eye-opening situations. In short, I was already expecting this to be funny. But oh my God did this drama delivered beyond my expectations.
A lot of this drama’s charm comes from its script. It’s light, HILARIOUS, and surprisingly heartfelt. I also love that sometimes it is self-aware of its absurdity. The two leads are both kind people that you can’t help but root for. They don’t exactly have a love/hate relationship. The tension between them is merely created by the nature of their work. Both Zhang Xi Cheng and Liang Jie delivered a remarkable performance. They were casted perfectly for the roles and I felt that their chemistry together was awkwardly cute and sweet.
Watching The Day of Becoming You was such a fun delightful experience. I laughed, I cried, then laughed harder. In its entirety, I fell in love with the characters and wholeheartedly enjoyed their journey of understanding each other and inevitably falling in love with each other.
So good you shouldn't miss it.
