Gu Yiye is NOT an ordinary military soldier
Gu Yiye, played by Xiao Zhan, came from a military background and has vast military knowledge. As a new soldier recruit, he was already a genius thinker, the brains behind every commendable operation. He is very skilled, clever, disciplined. The girls from his home fell in love with him and so did the female soldiers, but he was hesitant when encountering romance because he believes that becoming a soldier was his destiny, so he is determined to excel and serve honorably.A huge plus in this drama other than Gu Yiye's character is the directing and overall production. It's a military drama with enough action to get action-lovers captivated, but it also has familial and social values like honor, loyalty, commitment, friendship, a bit of romance, and so on. The OST is not bad. The ending track is especially awesome, sung by Xiao Zhan and Tan Weiwei.
(Hmm as for other stuff, I guess so far I can only say that Gu Yiye has a very annoying sidekick who wants to steal his love interest.)

Enjoyable Military Drama, Must Try!
Ace Troops 8 episodes are out uptill now. Gu YiYe (aka Xiao Zhan) & Gao Liang (aka Huang Jingyu) with other boys are recruited as new trainees in a military institute. Drama is showing how ordinary boys with different backgrounds go through drills and tests daily to develop into military man! Same time we also have Female new recruit trainees team too.Xiao Zhan's acting, voice and handsomeness is damn 100/100 that one cannot move eyes from him when he is on screen <3. GYY is ambitious and wants to prove himself and his future vision is to contribute in making army strong as whole. He is nerdy & intelligent boy who does everything in scientific and technical way, full on top student vibes :D xiao zhan looks so hot as brainy military man. Overall xiao zhan acting is top notch and satisfactory. GL character is funny and carefree who adds funny vibes in drama, same with other boys.
I liked the obvious sweet & innocent budding love between GYY and Nan Zheng {aka Zhong Chuxi, new female trainee (female lead)} and funny third wheeling of GL. Yes we have love triangle :)).
All senior commanders are great and doing solid acting. Drama is based on old times military institutes. Overall, drama is going at good pace, as it's still at initial stage where boys & girls are in training phase pulling stunts everyday, it's excites one to know what will happen in next episode and what they gonna face next.

Disappointed
As a historian, I have to say that this series has distorted history. If the story is bad, so there are no way I will continue watching this trash. I'm not the one who watch this films because of some famous actors so I only care about the story and how they based it. I don't know did your guys wrote this story because of somebody have ordered it or not but that just make me feel really disappointed............................................................................................................???Was this review helpful to you?
