Take a breather before you dive into the next one!

Where do I even start? It was a magnificent and absolute perfection to watch! I'm still reeling from it and definitely in need of a breather before I watch another drama.

The story had me from the synopsis and was well executed in the entirety of the drama. The manipulation of romantic cliches was superb such that I didn't get tired of watching them happen severally in one drama... It is seven lifetimes (that brought on the waterworks each time) we're talking about. I absolutely loved how time was taken to develop the supporting characters and have their stories painted in the overall plot. Discovering the true villain halfway, made me feel as though I had been on a wild goose chase with the one who was supposedly the villain. Having the past being relieved instead of being mere flashbacks was more than I expected to find when watching the drama.

This is not the first drama I'm watching that cast Ding Yu Xi and he delivered a stellar performance in this drama as well. I cannot fault his acting especially since there was no disconnect throughout the various roles he played. It is my first encounter with Yang Chao Yue, so I have nothing to compare with. I think for this role, she nailed the delivery of the FL character. I liked how she matured with every lifetime experienced and still retained her 'current' personality. The supporting actors were also on point given that I didn't feel as if there was stalling in between scenes or that the plot was rushed.

OMG! The music! I instantly knew it was Faye with the intro OST of the first episode. I'm leaving this drama with a richer collection of OSTs. They were perfectly timed and in tune with the emotion of each scene which made the drama all the more impactful. Even the instrumental bits. The instrumentals for the tense/ominous scenes is still ringing in my ears.

All in all this drama deserves all the love it's getting

7 Reasons why I love LOVE YOU 7 TIMES!

I have started a dozen cdramas but has not managed to finish one in a while. Most of the dramas start with a bang and then a long boring part that I can’t get past or sometimes the chemistry between the leads cool down. Then I found this drama.

Without much ado here are my 7 reasons why I love this drama. Here we go!

1 The main leads CHEMISTRY is on fire and cute at the same time . It makes you feel good like when you are in love. Aside from the fact that they are both beautiful, they seem very comfortable with each other which makes it fun to watch, not awkward. There may not be any steamy scenes but you can feel the magic and connection between them. A lot of cute moments ❤️

2. The story and concept.
For me the story is unique in a way because of the 7 (6 if you don’t count the last one/ending I guess) mini stories/dramas in the drama. In each story the cast perform different characters yet connects back to the original drama to complete the puzzle. It is a very interesting concept and entertaining at the same time. A lot of guessing what is going to happen next. TBH this si the only drama I watched where I want the main leads to die so they can avoid the tragedy or move on to the next story. ?. Watch it to believe it.

3. Cast
ML - His acting is always on point and carried the drama for the most part. He is an awesome actor and deserves the accolades that the viewers will give.
FL - She is fun and enjoyable to watch too. She may not be a best actress but she had her shining moments in this drama. Contrary to rumors being spread about her she does not always have a pouty mouth and whiny voice. She has managed to show her acting range as well. If you have bias against her this might not going to be a fun drama for you. But if you can set that aside you will find this drama enjoyable and worth your time.
Support cast - SML - whose love for the FL is admirable and rivaled that of the ML is consistent, the twins and stone fairy whose love and friendship are pure all played well. The emperor who is an excellent actor and very effective in his portrayal of his role.

4. The costumes and make up - just wow. That is all I can say. The colors , styles and designs of each costume in each life is just wow. It is a feast for the eyes and they deserve an award for this.

5. OST - all are beautiful and well placed to create more excitement, flare and drama to the scenes. There are times when the background noise is loud but that is to the editing and not the music.

6. The HE. It may be short but a happy one. I wished they ruled the heavenly realm as a power couple and had twins but that is asking too much .

7. The production. Amazing. Whoever put together this colorful, exciting and fun drama from the tiniest details of the costumes to the props deserves applaud.

The 1 thing I hate about this drama.

1. The haters who tried to sabotage this drama and continually trolled. Thank goodness I did not listen to them otherwise I would have missed this little treasure.

So, give it a try and see if you find 7things to love about this drama too. ?

Pairing is the best thing, but hey, it's a romance story at the end of the day

To me, Love You Seven Times never aspired to claim the title of the best drama of the year. It didn't set overly high expectations, yet it managed to provide an enjoyable and satisfying piece of entertainment.

I've noticed that many readers of the novel were left disappointed with the adaptation. While I believe the novel might offer a more finely crafted story, I haven't read it, which could explain why my assessment isn't as harsh.

Let's begin with what garnered the most discussion about this drama: the acting. Ding Yuxi undeniably delivered an outstanding performance. He immersed himself in his character, breathing life into it in an admirable manner. It's fascinating how, across different lifetimes, he portrayed subtle distinctions while maintaining consistency in his character. His portrayal was both concise and brilliant.

On the other hand, Yang Chaoyue's acting didn't reach the same level. While some viewers disliked her portrayal, I found it to be passable. She's neither a standout actress nor a terrible one, just somewhere in the middle. The issue may have been that she was placed alongside an exceptional actor, making her shortcomings more noticeable.

Despite the imbalance between the leads, I wouldn't trade their pairing. Their on-screen and off-screen chemistry is one of the drama's highlights, convincingly portraying them as a loving couple.

One aspect I thoroughly enjoyed was the visual aesthetics. This drama boasts some of the finest costume and scenery designs I've seen in a while. They fully capitalized on the opportunities presented by the Xianxia genre, resulting in a stunning production, from the celestial Heavenly Realm to the vibrant Mortal Realm and captivating Demon Realm. All three were a feast for the eyes. Additionally, the soundtrack was delightful.

The comedic moments were numerous and highly entertaining, with Yang Chaoyue shining brightest in these scenes.

The theme of multiple lives and the unwavering choice of each other in each one resonated with me as a sucker for romance, providing a satisfying narrative arc. The way these various lives intricately wove together and explained events as they unfolded was enjoyable. The one exception was the princess/general storyline, which felt rushed and out of place. I couldn't even form an attachment to that setting before the characters returned to the Heavenly Realm.

The third life and the Demon Realm arcs were the highlights. They both offered many elements that I found highly enjoyable.

The heartwarming relationships between Chu Kong, Xiangyun, Qian Mou, and Qian Ren, especially the latter two and their amusing yet endearing friendship, were satisfying to witness. However, I felt that the development of an equally strong friendship between Zihui and Jin Lian was lacking, leaving me expecting a rekindling of their bond that never materialized.

Turning to the aspects I didn't appreciate, I must mention the rushed romance. While I loved the leads' relationship, their sudden intense love for each other caught me off guard. It felt abrupt, almost as if I had skipped an episode and missed a crucial development between them.

The villain and overall conflict in the story were lacking depth and intrigue. It's challenging to pinpoint specific shortcomings because they simply failed to engage or offer anything novel or captivating.

Xiu Ming's character was particularly bad. I found him more detestable than the main villain and was genuinely disappointed when he received redemption at the end. His initial annoyance persisted, and he largely remained inconsequential during the middle parts until his sudden return to aid the leads.

The ending left much to be desired. I've grown weary of one of the main characters dying only to miraculously return in the final moments without any explanation of how, why, or when they managed to rise from the dead. While I understand that this may sometimes be a workaround to censorship, it's disheartening that the writers couldn't devise a more innovative solution to this recurring issue.

In conclusion, Love You Seven Times is worth watching. It may not become your favorite piece of media or a life-altering experience, but if you're seeking an enjoyable Xianxia romance, it's a solid choice.

Love through seven lifetime - beautiful drama

I really love the concept of this drama. I love romance and this dramas gave it. We got to see them falling in love again and they were so cute together. They also have good chemistry and they were together for lots of of episodes in my opinion compared to other dramas. There was no misunderstanding, no break up also.

They loved each other so much, they were truly fated and it’s was beautiful to see also the past when they first meet and fell in love. All the details too, like the red string and the soul protector spell. I love dramas like this.

it’s gave me Love between fairy and devil vibe too.

I really loved the ML, he was so cute and handsome. I love his acting. The FL was good too.

It’s was sad and beautiful, made me cry, smile and laugh. The second couple broke my heart too.

Some negative point for me :
- the kissing scenes were horrible
- the second lead was so annoying for most of the drama, I just wanted him to go away and die. He was always in the way and he was delusional if he ever thought he had a chance. At least he got useful at the end.
- happy ending, but I hate 1 min happy ending, it makes me mad. Like the ML died early in the episode, the could have show a lot more of the happy ending of the main leads. I didn’t care about the others and the people in the heavenly realm, they showed too much of them. I read somewhere that in the novel they get married in the end, we needed more. Also, all the talk about completing their wedding, travel together, etc and we got nothing
- also the ending for the second couple, why ? It’s like an open ending, I wanted him to recognize her and run to her. They both left their way.
- so I don’t know in general the ending wasn’t good enough for me, so…. had to give 9,5 and not 10/10

I would recommend this drama

Not the usual kind of XianXia

First of all, I would like to mention how positive I am about Yang Chao Yue's acting performance. I have seen her in Dance of the Phoenix, Heroes, Sisterhood and The Journey of Chong Zi and I was not satisfied with her performance in any of the dramas. Whether it was the script or really her acting is hard to say.

Ding Yunxi never disappoints - I've watched all his dramas so far and have to say that he delivered again. Personally, I think he conveyed the role as well as the emotions very well.

The visual effects were beautiful and an absolute eye-catcher.
The costume designers really went out of their way to show differences between lives and the way they dressed. My personal favourite is definitely the Demon King arc.

Personally, I really enjoyed the story and next to BTTB, LY7T will be my second favourite Xianxia this year.
Even though some may find the story too rushed at the end, I found that the fight at the end ended without exaggeration and was carried more by emotions and decisions of the individuals.
It also made sense to me that Chu Kong sacrifices himself in this life, as he had already given her the opportunity not to die again 30,000 years earlier with his Qiling. The decision for Chu Kong to sacrifice himself this time also makes sense because it would not be logical for Cang Hai to sacrifice herself and for Chu Kong to die in the process.

We can rejoice that we have another XianXia drama with a happy ending this year, even if we don't know what will become of them.
My impression here was that Chu Kong still remembers her in this life. That means it's up to our imagination what their future will be.

it was an okay watch

This drama knocked me out in less than 1 minute starting from the ost and i enjoyed the first life that they went through where FL, Xiang Yun / Cang Ha (Yang Chao Yue), was a white tiger cub and the ML was a wild bore it was hilarious honestly. 2nd life was a bit frustrating with the 3rd wheel ,Xiu Ming(Xing Mi). I liked the side couple Lu Fang and Cui Bi ship it was cute. I cried when both ML and FL parents died. To be honest i didn't like the love triangle or square or whatever the hill it was. 3rd life got me frustrated because FL believed anything without knowing the full truth it was when she was ML student like bruh ML told her there was no cure for his heart disease and she found out there was a cure but later thought that ML is trying to use her to get her heart when clearly there was no reason for that heck she went along with the misunderstanding that ML killed her parents when it wasn't even him and once again the 3rd wheel Xiu Ming(Xing Mi) didn't even try to clear up the misunderstanding and just let her misunderstand. The 3rd life i cannot consider that a tragedy cause it was a stupid misunderstanding that she made up and followed the 3rd wheel this made me remember Romeo and Juliet which i hated i made no sense and it shouldn't be considered a romance or tragedy it was plain stupid. Anyway, I like all the side characters but not the 3rdwheel Xiu Ming(Xing Mi). The 4th life when ML and FL swapped bodies it was hilarious and they didn't show that many side characters in this life so it just went by smoothly and i enjoyed this death no tears were needed for this 4th life because it was like a sweet death/reunion its weird but it's a bittersweet moment. The 4th life went by fast i didn't mind that. The 5th Life we got a peek of what really went down 30,000 years ago( will not give u a spoiler for that). I didn't cry when ML and FL died but once again it didn't leave an impression on me it was sad but it didn't leave an impression on me that just all. 6th life ML was a demonic cat( i think) Anyway it was hilarious when his cat ears popped out and when he was trying to act like he forgot FL. The ending didn't get me to tear up my eyes were just wet/watery but no tears dropped anyway FL went to Mortal World and found ML and that's where it ended.

I liked all their lives but when we got the 3rd wheel Xiu Ming(Xing Mi) I couldn't enjoy it cause he was there. I liked all the characters except Xiu Ming(Xing Mi). Don't get me wrong i like the actor but not the character that he played. Even if it was 30,000 years the FL still didn't love him like he needed to know when to back away but he didn't heck he was even an obsessive prince in one of their lifetime. The thing i don't get is why didn't Xiu Ming(Xing Mi) tell ML,Chu Kong / Lu Chang(Ding Yu Xi), about what had happened 30,000 years ago. Honestly, i was a bit frustrated with Xiu Ming(Xing Mi). Well, those are the only bad points that i have for this drama. I also liked the side couples too they were funny but i cried like a brat when one of the partners died leaving behind the other. i think the side couples are the one that left a deep impression on me. I was hoping to cry a lot but it didn't affect me this was an average drama for me.

Ding Yuxi is a great GREAT actor

Watching this drama just for Ding Yuxi was the right decision for me. I watched this drama after I watched 'The Romance of Tiger and Rose' and I was very interested in Ding Yuxi's acting, so I looked up Yuxi's discography and found in his latest drama Yuxi's voice wasn't dubbed. I'm so happy, finally i can hear his original voice!

After watching this, I respect Ding Yuxi even more, for me he's a hardworking actor and is dedicated to every character he takes on. I was touched by his effort to display such amazing micro-expressions! even when playing a young General, he was able to portray the figure of a mighty General. I was even amazed by his posture when wearing armor, and when Yuxi has to change the role of a God, he can also play the character of a God who is authoritative and scary.

Moving on to the plot of the drama. So far I like the storyline created by the writer. Very interesting, and what is a plus for me is that the love journey of the two main characters isn't made too slowly.

But when it comes to acting... I really want to give it a perfect score, but for me the female lead's acting is still lacking in several points. She can still expand her acting range, she has enormous potential to deepen her character, and after finishing this drama, Yang Chaoyue apparently made good progress.

Joyful to watch

I liked it, was joyful to watch and enjoy my time. would recommend this

Each life is very different, with different settings and length of episodes. Some of the lives only FL remembers her present self, others only ML, and we also have lives where they both remember so it gives a unique experience in each one.

I like the idea that they want to the moral tribulation with memory which is kind of unique.

In their fourth experience on the body swap, I liked the acting of the male lead when he acted and the facial expressions, and at the same time I felt the female lead acted as a normal female without the fake I am cute, way of experiencing and talking. Why do they like to be fake?

In their 5th experience, Also I liked how different acts of the male lead for the characters and the facial expressions.

'someone like in the novel, who is dedicated, righteous, handsome, brave, witty, young, promising, and romantically loyal.'

Sweet and cute series

I’m writing this review as I’m thinking about another series. Literally just finished Back from the Brink after Love You Seven Times. I couldn’t contain my excitement to see Yang Chao Yue because she has come such a long way. I saw her and Neo in a variety show a while back and it was super cute. I was super happy to see both him and her having a new series out the same year.

Love you seven times had a lot of chemistry. For sure, Ding Yu Xi won my heart in this series. The last time I saw his work was from Romance of Tiger and Rose. I wasn’t very impressed with that series but this one…he won my heart over!!!!

Here are some things I love about this series:
I love the outfits, the attention to the details was just spot on.
The length of the episodes, I’m glad it was a short series.
The flow and the pace of the story. I ended up binge-watching this entire series because it was so easy to watch.
The opening theme. I automatically recognize the singer.
The cast.
The different lifetimes they had. I’m glad they were not painfully long and they were just perfect!!

The only con I had was these carefree happy FL leads we tend to get in Wuxia.
I recommend it to anyone looking to watch a short, sweet, and romantic wuxia series.

Seven Lifetimes of Love

IQIYI’s highly anticipated wuxia drama “Love You Seven Times” recently finished its run and I’m still spellbound by the storyline. Adapted from the web novel “Yi Shi Chong Dong, Qi Shi Bu Xiang” (一时冲动,七世不祥) by Jiu Lu Fei Xiang (九鹭非香), the show stars Yang Chao Yue & Ding Yu Xi in the indomitable roles of the God of War Chu Kong & Empress Cang Hai. The storyline begins with an uncanny meeting between our main couple (in the present), where Chu Kong is trying to cure his damaged primordial spirit. Chu Kong had supposedly sacrificed half of his primordial spirit to vanquish the evildoer, Empress Cang Hai, in the past. If you are questioning the logic between pairing a protagonist and an antagonist, that’s where “Love You Seven Times” does a double take and gives you an effervescent love story that spans across seven lifetimes. The show (true to its name) has seven different settings and timelines where our main couple reincarnate, face various tribulations and return to the Heavenly Realm. Distinctly intertwined with these stories is the backstory, which dates back to 30,000 years where Moluo’s were the most powerful clan and Empress Cang Hai was the “Ruler of the Six Realms”.

Enjoyable watch, but not lifechanging

If you're looking for a sweet heart tugging drama with a medium level of angst, then this one might be the one for you. Ding Yuxi is one of my favourite actors after watching several of his dramas and he def lives up to his acting skills in Love You Seven Times (LYST).

STORY:
I feel like the story was relatively well written, good pacing and each tribulation had its own story that added to the overall Heaven Realm plot which I liked. I grew to love the characters more with each tribulation they went through and enjoyed the angst as it was a small amount and didn't drag on like 10 episodes like other dramas do. A good story can balance the happy and the pain, and I feel like LYST did the job. The only downfall I feel in the story was that the pacing of how they took down the bad guy wasn't spaced out correctly, and could have been way more satisfying but the other aspects of the story did great.

ACTING:
Ding Yuxi is phenomenal in this series, every time he cries I feel a gut retching pain inside my chest and I feel all his emotions. In their second tribulation when he cries over Xiangyun his eyes are so bloodshot and it really moved me. As for the female lead, Yang Chaoyue, I feel like she definitely still gives off rookie vibes. especially in the first half of the drama. I agree her acting needs some work but I feel like Ding Yuxi carried a lot of scenes so it balanced it out. However I feel like she played Cang Hai way better than Xiangyun, and her chemistry with Ding Yuxi during the 30,000 past arc was ON FIRE and I really enjoyed her character there. Maybe because I feel like Cang Hai's personality fits her real personality more so it looked very genuine. Shout out to the guy who played Zihui because my drama tingling bones are telling me his gonna be really popular soon.

MUSIC:
A few of the soundtrack songs were amazing and gave me chills, but the OST they played during the scenes where Chu Kong summons the (bull?) I feel like didnt fit and sometimes when he uses his power I feel like the song is too modern. Otherwise it was still good!

OVERALL:
I enjoy a well written drama with decent chemistry so I feel like this one I thoroughly enjoyed. Overall I would give it a 8.5/10, which is pretty good considering I'm pretty picky with my dramas. Can't wait to see more of Ding Yuxi's work in the future!

Beautiful and Pure Love ❤️

First, I wasn't sure whag to expect going into this, I love xianxia shows, and I've seen all the stories from the novel writer, and enjoyed them, so i wanted to give this a try, though i was sooo nervous going in, because i thought it would be very heavy and angsty. But...

It really wasn't as heavy as i was expecting, each lifetime and romance was so well writtten, it was great seeing them in different roles and yet still would do anything for their love with no previous memories of anything.

As the show went on the love grow, so many tiems when i was expecting something bad... it went the other way, it was more heavy during there trial, which i liked that they didnt bring too many drama after each was done.

The acting of the ML was phenomenal, he did such a great job in each lifetime role, one of my favorite acting was the lifetime where he was a cat demon, his acting was very different from all the other shows I've seen him in and it was great seeing him in that role. The FL acting was pretty good as well, i think if anything for her to improve would be her crying scenes and her eyes, but there were times where she showed great acting in her roles, especially in the cang hai role, you can see a clear difference and in the princess and general role.

The leads had really good chemistry, ive seen other say they lacked it, but even though the kisses were many but not as (deep ?), i thought they did well together and after finishing the show i can't imagine anyone else in their roles. They belonged together, they loved each other and it got evident the more you watch the show.

The only time I felt a little like (jeez this is long), was the second lifetime, which was the longest. (SML was also a nuisance then too ?), but after that... it was all so interested.

If you want to watch a sweet, beautiful, amd pure love story and you're a sucker for those things like me, i think you'll also like this.

Usually i always end up reading some spoiler and it spoils it too much, and i end up not finishings a show (that's what happen for till the end of the moon), this time i decided to stay away from all that and watch it on my own.

The OSTs... amazing!!...?

Minor spoiler ahead

There was a mention of a time loop, which shows up around episode 30-31... of you didnt understand (like i didn't) there is a discussion right before the comment about that thoery, but I'll only read it after watching up to episode 31 or when you're done. It truly helped me to understand more about the lifetimes etc. You may not need too, but just incase you feel the need too.. ?
