I love it so much I wish I hadn't watched it

so I could watch it again for the first time and feel all the feelings all over again. The gradual friendship between the two characters is beautiful and funny. These are two kids growing up to be young adults, trying to be a crutch for each other and you would ship them together right off the bat. The girl is brave and honest with her feelings and has the "whatever I'll do it so what" attitude that you root for her. The boy is amused by this attitude and doesn't hide it a bit. He is more complex than the popular party boy facade he shows through his live shows. The classmates are hilarious. No one is evil and every one is human.

It's about friendship, youth love, forbidden love, family love, dreams, rejection, acceptance, and be in peace with who you are.

The music is GREAT and fitting. I have them in a loop on Spotify. Never thought I'd like anything from Coldplay before this.

SPOILER and my thoughts on it starting here:

No one dies. Ok good.
The ending makes me sigh in relieve albeit still with a tad of heartache. Well, what can I say, there are many kinds of happy ending.
I understand why he can't love her the way she wants him to and I love how he is honest with her and himself about it. Is he gay? Yes I'd like to think that he is and that's why we never hear the voice of his ex nor see the face. I mean, he's very very very cute and I wish the girl gets him but he is so lovable that I'm glad he is happy in his own right by the end of the movie. I also understand her disappointment but relieved that she accepts it eventually and walks her own path.

At least they kiss. A good one too at that.

I would love to rewatch it but I'm not ready yet.

I hope we all can be brave and accept ourselves :)

This movie was very well-produced! The pace fits how the story unravels itself. Starting with the main problem, as a watcher, this movie would hook you up from the very first sight. Wu Lei and Zhang Zifeng deserve a standing ovation for their excellent acting bringing out the characters alive. I really love the raw emotion and interaction of our main characters when they were trying to get to know each other. The chemistry of these two is what I love the most about this movie besides its meaning. I agree if anyone says this deserves a drama instead of just a movie, but I also think this short limit of time is already perfect for wrapping the entire story.

Personally, (spoiler) I don't like Zhang Yuxing's love story mainly because I don't think it's appropriate for an adult to date a high schooler. On the other hand, I feel really close to Chen Chen's curiosity about love, even like how she kept encouraging Zhang Yuxing to finish his unrequited love. The movie was ending with a bittersweet resolution for both characters, but that was exactly what makes this movie meaningful. There are some parts that owe us, watchers, some explanation before the movie ended obviously, but it doesn't lessen the quality of this movie. If you need a coming-of-age movie that actually has meaning, you should try this one!

Although it’s been a while since my teen years, when I am watching this movie, all the feelings, the angst, hope of being at that age at the cusp of adulthood. Chen Chen, after discovering that her parents have divorced, lied to her, and only staying together for her until she passes the gaokao, decides to fail the exam in the hopes of her parents reconciling. In her scheme, she inadvertently involves Zheng Yu Xing, by saying that she failed because she broke up with him. Zheng Yu Xing, being a carefree person, decides to go along with her ruse. He himself fails to take the exam because he was trying to get back together with the woman he loves. These two, who are hurting emotionally and just trying to stay above waters from all the family, school, and academic pressures, begin to form a strong friendship. Slowly, maybe, we see Chen Chen starting to like Zheng Yu Xing, but also knowing that he’s still in love with Ming. At one point she tells him, “maybe one day we will both accept that the one we love do not love us back.” The last scene, we see an older Chen Chen, maybe she’s in college now or older, and she seems happier, calmer. She goes to a music festival and sees DJ XYZ as one of the acts. She’s in the crowd with a slight smile on her face, watching Zheng Yu Xing on stage. We don’t know if they are still in contact, still friends or more. It’s pretty open to interpretation. I would like to think that they remain friends, supportive of each other, and have found their happiness, whatever that may be.

I have seen this on Netflix long time ago but never interested to watch it. Just now I watched it and regretted why didn’t I watch it before. It was sweet friendship story. How they are fond to each other. But sad they have to separated because unforeseen reason. I wish its a happy ending but it was open ending like many other movie. I love the music!! EDM is always hit hard. I know Wu Lei is a great actor I watched every drama he is in.
Overall I love this movie.

The emotions of youth

I started this for wu lei and honestly kinda went in blind not really knowing anything but thinking it was a silly rom com. I WAS WRONG... ended up crying and having way more emotions than I thought I would. Personally, I think wu lei's youth centered films and dramas are incredible he always ends up delivering emptions and having you reeled in the whole time. The story was so great the way it focused on the emotions and turmoil of youth and dealing with change and accepting realities you don't want to. Ming was never shown but she didn't have to be I quite liked how it focused on wu lei's characters feelings rather than actual dialogue and meeting between these 2 characters. The main's unrequited love line was so.. I cant put into words but I was DEVESTATED but it really hit the message and emotions home. I LOVED the ending scene and how it was carried out it was so fitting and heart warming. Really enjoyed this movie and highly recommend!!! nothing but praises to the director and actors. Personally I don't think I'll rewatch this maybe in a few years but living through it once is enough to acquire a fondness to this movie :)

Vale a pena assistir
