I Feel Cheated by the Production

I am writing three episodes before the end of the season.
Yesterday I watched the trailer again, which is full of suspense, action, fighting, emotional suspense and gives the impression that the viewer is in for something exciting, full of dangerous adventures. The trailer depicts an ML gripped by a lust for revenge and a wise FL who supports him intellectually and emotionally. The trailer is badass. Meanwhile, what we received in the first season....
I haven't read the book and I'm not interested in whether the drama is faithful to it. I have the drama itself before my eyes and it was a huge disappointment. The trailer promised me something juicy, and what I got was a boring story about second and third plan characters. Do I really have to watch the problems of FL's aunts and uncles instead of the story between ML and FL? After such an excellent trailer, I just feel cheated. I feel as if someone promised me a ride on the world's biggest roller coaster, and after three hours of waiting, took me on a steam train ride.
The drama is played well. I have no complaints about the visual side. There are some very funny situations and intriguing characters. An average of five minutes per episode is really great, but the other 35-40 are nightmarishly boring. Instead of these almost 20 episodes of introductions, it would have been better to give three juicy ones. The proportions between the main plot and side plots are just very badly distributed.
As for the music, unfortunately, it clearly lacks originality.
Since the trailer fooled me into thinking that this would be a drama where something would happen, I feel cheated by the producers. If they had not lied, if they had said from the outset that this drama would simply be about the problems of growing up as a teenager, my rating would have been higher.

Wu Lei & Zhao Lusi's best drama. OST, lighting, cinematography, etc.

I haven't been this invested in a 40+ episode cdrama since I watched The Untamed.

Every aspect of this drama is gorgeously done.
Cinematography, lighting, fight scene choreography, acting, instrumental OST, pacing, story - it's all so rich and wonderfully done. I found myself practically frothing at the mouth, waiting for each episode and deep diving into the MDL discussion section with everyone else as we invested our time and emotions into the nuance of each episode.

The cast is perfect. Everyone (especially the Cheng family, Emperor Wen, and Ling Buyi) is perfectly cast. I've been a huge Wu Lei stan for a long time, but this drama is my favorite of his (Crossfire is a close 2nd). Same for Zhao Lusi. The chemistry within the Cheng family between CSS and her brothers and Yang Yang is wonderful to watch; the chemistry between Qiu Fei, Qiu Qi, and Ling Buyi is always a fantastic ice breaker for more somber scenes, Qi Qi and Cheng Song are cute, and Ling Buyi and CSS have a natural and fiery chemistry that I adore. It's difficult for me to describe how perfect this drama is for me eloquently. I wish MDL didn't force the series to be split into two parts so the discussion board and ratings can stay combined because I adore the ravings of all of our LLTG fanatics in one spot, haha.

**Don't get put off by the slower pacing from Ep 1-7. While it might seem painstaking if you're impatient, world-building is meticulously done for a good reason. By the end of Part 1, you're so invested in the story precisely because it took its time explaining the complexity of each character's personality to a point where unspoken glances speak volumes to you because you understand the nuance of each character and backstory so well. It makes the drama and your investment in it that much more meaningful. I also perused the lower ratings listed and couldn't disagree more with their lazy observations. If you went into this drama with the expectation that it's going to be fast-paced - when right off the bat, you could see it's slated for 56 episodes- you're mistaken. This isn't a 10-episode limited drama. This is a series that has to honor a widely popular book that has a *lot* of content to cover, and for anyone to give a crap, the production needs to put in a lot of effort for us to *understand* and *know* the world our characters live in. You're sorely mistaken if you expect to just jump into the deep end for a long, fiery, ridiculous battle. This is a slow burn (and burn, it surely does!).

This masterpiece is not even less than 10/10, it is TRULY PRICELESS!

I haven't even been able to move on from this drama. šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ’”

Being fairly, this is the best drama with a solid quality story substance, driven by a strong moral component that motivates to human condition and reveals what it means to be human. The magnificent love story are so sweet, romantic, reasonable and realistic. The dramatic and thematic reflections of the journey of the protagonist interconnected scene, really rich of positive vibes. The content of humor from the beginning to the end of the drama is inserted with the right timing and harmony, creating a fresh dynamic and hilariousness brilliant. Many many beautiful, fascinating, fantastic, and epic scenes which is really unforgettable. Also meaningful dialogues that inspire.

I guess this SPLENDID STAR doesn't just light up the black dark sky, but at the same time enlightment our heart and mindset. šŸŒŸ

One of masterpiece.

Zhao Lusi is great, Wu Lei is great. BUT THEIR CHEMISTRY IS WONDERFUL. At first, I have no high expectations for this drama because the genre isn't a cup of my tea even I love Lusi's acting in every drama.

BUT I WRONG.

In 1st eps, you may feel boring like what is this... BUT PLEASE KEEP WATCHING, because the plot is like slow burn BUT really good and have so many good value.

This drama isn't just tell about romance between lead, but relationship between your family-relatives, war strategic (I really mesmerized with Ling Bu Yi's strategic war and ofc his VISUAL lol).

Every actors in this drama is play sooooo wellllll I ain't lying and can mix our emotion.

Yes, emotion. Laughing, crying, confused, annoyed OMGGGGG THIS DRAMA REALLY THAT GOOD TSKTSK

(Ps: I think Wu Lei is the best Zhao Lusi's partner from all of her drama projects. Wishhhhhh they could have another romance drama project šŸ˜ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹)

And Thus, a Classic Drama is created.

And Thus, a Classic Drama is created.

With all the hype and positive reviews and with an A list cast for this drama, I had very high expectations. And all of my expectations were met. For a 56 episode drama, I could have watched 20 ā€“ 30 more episodes, it was just that good. I didnā€™t even fast forward once and that says a lot for a 56 episode C drama!

The BEST part of the drama for me, besides the amazing casting, is the character building. The script is the heart of the show and if it wasnā€™t for the beautiful dialogue and relationship building screen play, Iā€™m not sure how it would have hold my interest so much.

The costumes, hair and makeup were amazing. I love the styles of the dresses, it was just beautiful and so different. I loved the long hair and elegant hair pieces. Even the ML costumes were great and they kept his look very plain to match his personality.

The star of the show are the main leads. As much as everyone loves ML, Leo Wu (I loved him in The Long Ballad too!), my favorite by far is Zhao Lu Si. I loved her in Who Rules the World and almost any drama she is in. I love her range of emotions, how she can play a rom-com or a melodrama. She can be sweet and naĆÆve to fierce and mature. I also love that the leads are close to age. Since both are very young, 22 and 23, they usually star in roles with older actors, so itā€™s nice to see them equally matched in physical appearance to age and acting ability.

The drama has many story arcs and even though you watch it for the romance between the leads, you start to get sucked into all the side plots and side stories. Itā€™s just that good. I really enjoyed watching the FL and the mom conflict. It kept my interest and as much as you want to side with one person, you see both sides. Again, another thing that is great about the drama is you see both sides and itā€™s hard to see who is truly right.

The pacing is pretty much on point with the drama.

Overall, there is no comparison to this drama. It has a strong FL that is independent, smart (street smart), beautiful and goes through a lot of hardships and struggles. Sometimes she saves herself and sometimes the ML saves her, but regardless, itā€™s always a learning lesson for her. You have the ML with a bitter past and yes Leo is very good in playing the stoic, cruel lead, I did enjoy is humorous moments (and he does have them!).

The chemistry between the leads is very good and probably the driving force of the drama. I wouldnā€™t say this drama has too much politics, just the right amount to keep you hooked and interested. Donā€™t go into this drama expecting typical misunderstanding troupes, itā€™s all about relationship building, resolving conflict and the characters are always weighing the pros and cons to any decisions.

Love like the Galaxy is different, beautiful and itā€™s a drama you could watch again and again. I know I wil!

Chinese Bridgerton Brought To Life

Family gossip, women folk catfights, swooning over gallant men, royal family drama, well-timed articulated faintā€¦ Love Like The Galaxy (LLTG) might actually be likened to the regency popular drama ā€˜BRIDGERTONā€™, however unlike Bridgerton Love Like The Galaxy contains a healthy dose of comedy, political conspiracy, and military action, and of course, a slow-burn romance that will have your toes tingling.

LLTG is here to steal your heart and the excitement it comes with will not be leaving you anytime soon. Unlike any other Chinese drama, LLTG features a young woman whose parents left to join the war immediately after her birth. This young woman (Shaoshang) grows into an ā€˜illiterate' woman who is quite smart and handy when it comes to building and making impulsive decisions during dire situations.

She is illiterate in that she was not taught Chinese characters and classical and ancient texts by her wicked aunt and illiterate grandmother. When her parents come back fifteen years later from the war, she is quick to find out that they can never go back to a loving parent-daughter relationship, especially with her mother who is always dissatisfied with her ā€˜unruly behaviour'.

Shaoshang meets the general and adopted son of the Emperor, Ling Buyi who has just come back after achieving great merit at war. They meet on several occasions and while Shaoshang feels nothing for the general due to her lack of family love while growing up, the general's feelings of admiration for her quickly morph into love.

Shaoshang while being unruly with more than two tricks up her sleeves every single time is kind and does not react kindly to bullying. The general, on the other hand, is cold, at first sight, looks unfeeling but he is quite protective of the people he cares about.

A key takeaway from LLTG is how the pacing of the movie ensures that you feel every character's development so you understand them better. Most of the major characters like the royal family were not introduced until later. With an abundance of characters in this show, from Noble ladies to Princes/Princesses and military families, you seldom get confused about who is who and what role they are here to play.

Asides from the pacing, the romance is stellar. The female lead does not immediately fawn nor fall for the general, and the process and growth that leads her to have feelings for the general is so genuine and stellar.

This drama has some pretty interesting subplots that will enrapture you. With a healthy dose of comedy, drama, wordplay, and DRAMA, Love Like The Galaxy is the drama you should NOT be found NOT watching.

This review will be updated once the drama is done airing.

Spectacular

Totally love this masterpiece that I get to enjoy this year 2022. Great acting, mind blowing story, dialogue and script. The cinematography is really really good. I have actually rewatched this drama more than I can count. It is rare that a drama concentrate every little details and how it is intertwined to bring depth to each and every character in the drama. Again, I would like to give a big round of applause to all the actors and actresses in bringing each and every characters to life. ā¤ļø

The first part I love it. Everything in this drama is good. The Martial Arts, the in-house fighting, the visuals are fantastic, and the music makes your heart beat as if it were marching with the soldiers. I can't believe that Leo Wu is only 22 years old. He is very mature and can act greatly. I just added more drama which he stars in. I'm impressed. I have watched many dramas with Zhao Lu Si in them. She is also very good. She drives me crazy with her acting because I love what she does. She can be so perky which is a great thing. I can watch her all the time. I can hardly wait for future dramas in which she is the main lead. I'm watching this on Viki-Rakuten but they are not showing it in 2 parts, they are showing it as one drama.

LOVE

I can already say the rewatch value is high because I am not even sure how many times I've rewatched this drama from episode 1.

This is probably one of those dramas that I think is near close to being perfect. I had high expectations for this drama, and it definitely has not disappointed. I will add that the script is very layered, it takes maybe 6 or so episodes for the drama to pick up (however when I rewatched it after having an idea of the bigger picture, even those first few slower episodes were wildly interesting to me). Plus each time you rewatch, you catch more details, more connections and analyzing the complex characters in this drama and their motivations is something that is deeply satisfying. The drama does have arc's (and each arc may feature some characters more than others) and new and interesting characters are introduced throughout the drama to build the plot in a meticulous way.

The cast is superb. I think this is one of the top 3 dramas for me in terms of where every single character from the main cast, to supporting cast to even minor roles has played their characters to perfection. The direction, attention to detail, cinematography, sound editing, sets, costumes, lighting, fight scenes and the music scores are amazing.

The chemistry between the two main leads is out of this world. Even the simplest scene with them in it just takes my breath away. One other thing I would mention about this drama is that this is the only Chinese costume drama where I haven't skipped forward some parts, and this is one of the only dramas that has made me feel EVERY emotion as a viewer watching. There is no wasted air time and its like a roller coaster ride of joy, tragedy, humour, fascination, shock, anger, embarrassment, butterflies etc.

Definitely give this a chance and stick with it prior to the slower build at the start. It is so worth it <3

The best adaptation of novel

I thoroughly enjoy the background introduction, the build-up and all the plot progression. The adaptation was simplified, but all the essences of the novel was well maintained. Best choice of casts, pleasant cinematography and color grading, the attention to details are very much appreciated. LLTG is the best S+ standard in the recent years. 1 thing that I'm sad about was because they rushed the broadcast, we didn't get the full OST. But even without ost as bgm, it still managed to evoke raw emotion in viewing, and that says a lot about how good it is.

ā€˜Da bombā€™ leads!

This drama came highly recommended and itā€™s all over the internet and such. Thus, I decided to catch it! Plus, Iā€™m a fan of grown up Wu Lei after watching him in The Long Ballad. He was cool and manly! I really liked watching him.

What I loved about this drama:
- Wu Lei as the male lead, Ling Bu Yi/ Zi Sheng. So manly. So strong. So omg my heart.
- The female lead is cute in this drama. She is unconventional and a ā€œbreath of fresh airā€ compared to the stereotypical damsels in distress.
- The couple have chemistry and are adorable together.
- The Cheng family members are close-knit and there is no internal rife.
- The acting is top-notch in this drama. All the actors and actresses acted so very well.
- The plot is riveting. (To me, some parts are kind of confusing, but the plot is definitely engaging and interesting.)

What I didnā€™t fancy:
- The bloodshed but I guess itā€™s kind of inevitable for such dramas.
- Some ā€œscene to sceneā€ were kind of disjointed / jerky ā€¦ I think due to the cutting of scenes. As a result, some ā€œscene to sceneā€ parts were abrupt.

Overall, this drama is a Must Watch. Itā€™s excellent. Itā€™s wonderful. Itā€™s very re-watchable! WATCH!
