Only Left With Bitterness till the Very End

I usually like to give dramas the benefit of the doubt even if reviews and comments are saying otherwise because who knows maybe I’ll see something different than others and enjoy. However this one…..was truly awful. Probably one of the worst k dramas I have watched if not the worst to date for me. An absolute waste of time. Im so glad this was only 10 episodes otherwise I wouldve been even more annoyed than I already was once the show ended…

I can’t even begin to explain what I just watched because I don’t even know what exactly I was watching. Honestly I’m not even convinced that the writer or director knew either. Nothing was explained, nothing was answered and if you think by the end it’ll all make sense and be explained you are dead wrong. Instead…they left it off on a cliffhanger and just to put that cherry on top they also randomly threw in new characters I KID YOU NOT….IN THE LAST 20 minutes of the finale. Like hello, let’s continue to not explain anything while also adding new faces just because we can. One word….unsatisfied

I think what makes it more frustrating is that the story itself does a pretty good job in taking you on this journey into their world, setting up a lot mystery and questions. And as the story progresses, it tricks you into thinking YESS THIS IS THE CLIMAX (well finally get answers) only to be let down every single time.

Even though there are plenty other reviews who can articulate way better than me as to why this is a MUST SKIP SERIES...I just needed to vent a little anddd reiterate PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF….DO NOT BOTHER WATCHING….unless you enjoy wasting your time or being confused =/

Not Good Enough

Korean Drama " Grid " had a nice, atmospheric start, with a moody story, a mysterious ghost woman, and an even more secretive company that kept the grid (?) under control.

And even though there was potential for this drama, with smooth and excellent performances by the main leads, but also by the supporting cast, and the sci-fi CGI were all well handled, the story was too much for nothing. The main plot didn't make any sense in the end, with all the time-traveling, the grid technology, and the generations' medley. It somehow felt less, compared to what the drama seemed to build up to.

So, overall, 4 out of 10.

Grid show is such an amazing series

When im at episode 3 I think if should i continue it or not because it didnt caught my interest at FIRST, but when i have nothing to watch anymore korean shows with scifi/thriller i think its maybe worth it to continue, So i did and oh my goodness i made a good choice.. The storyline at the last 2 episodes maybe tricky but you will understand soon.. As a fan of sci-fi i really like it and im hoping for season 2, for the people saying they dont like the show and dont get it i really dont understand why some people cant catch the idea/storyline.. All i can say is they made a super amazing job at acting and of course the storylines.. THATS ALL (Sorry for my bad english) :>

SOMETIMES WHAT WE THOUGHT ON A THING IS NOT WHAT IT ACTUALLY IS

On what I understand, This drama is a story about a guy whom parents were killed by a woman during her creation of the grid and who has a power to control time, and he wants to know why, what and how and wants to change it--the reason why he works at that organization that controls or the one that operates the Grid that protects the earth from the solar wind that is deadly and may cause the destruction of the earth and mankind.
The story is interesting because I am actually a fan of this kinds of theme , something about the future and time traveling or what would be the earth looks like, the people , the places and the technologies on the future. The motive of Sae Ha here is to change everything as I have mentioned earlier, things got more exciting when he was able to time travel also after many studies and searches , he was able to implant the chip and use the device that the woman use to time travel, and to is it create the grid or operate the grid? not really sure, he found out that there was no really solution to save both mankind and his parents after traveling time and trying to change everything. I am just disappointed on the choice he made, his main objective here became pointless and all his hard work and studies became useless after he chose the man kind over his parents. it was a good decision but not good for him, if I were him I will just be where I am able to be with my parents alive !
The woman's character here is a bit confusing, is she something like a god? on the part where she seems connected to the police woman I did not understood it clearly , and also did not understand why he was saving the son of the janitor who became a criminal all along, it was shown here that she seems the one who participated or created the grid that protects the earth but where did she came from,. and why does she eat so much sweet foods and liters of Soda !?
All in all I think this needs more episodes to justify the ending? i think it was rush, but since so far I was able to go through it I think it is good , the setting was nice , I just did not get why the inside of the building was gray ? maybe to look like more futuristic is it ? but is was just 2021 there, Seo Kang Joon did a great job , he was actually the reason why I watched this. a good drama but I might not recommend this one

Confusing Slow faced thriller

The grid drama has many layers so it was quite confusing while watching it. The elements like Timetravel, Teleporting are good. The drama is feels dragging and slow.
Thrilling part also feels missing. We can feel there are parts were the illogical and predictable. After watching the drama i thought they did not use much of Lee si young . The graphics are good.
The cast as done there part good. Seo kang joon done his role perfectly good. Kim ah joong and Kim Mu yeol done there parts good. Do not expect much from the music.
The drama is an average and slow suspense investigative thriller. One time watch and a time pass drama.

Messy

It started with a lousy introduction that was too ambitious on paper and then began to jump between one plot after another until the end. There was a desperate need for a better coherent structure and pacing. The characters were more or less fine but, despite being one of the most important characters, the ghost lacked a better characterization to make her role more impactful. The last 1-2 episodes were fundamentally bad, their main purpose was to lay down a handful of new elements for an imaginary sequel. This is a bad common practice streaming services have been pulling since forever to keep hold of the viewers attention regardless if they were planning for a sequel or not. The only acceptable scenario for such a practice is to have a direct sequel to follow it. Anyway, the drama was very mediocre Sci-Fi with a handful of failures.

I think it was great and can’t wait for season 2!!

I think it has a great plot to it and that people just misunderstood it. It’s Syfy so of course the ending leaves on a cliffhanger but that’s just hinting to another season. The acting was amazing and it really keep me guessing to the end, literally watched the show in 2 days. This show really makes you think about the past and the future and possibilities and with that it keeps you guessing about what’s going to happen. I really wished it had more episodes but j guess I’ll have to wait for season 2.

This drama started from episode seven and ended on a big question mark finale

I was going to drop it out of desperation ,, first six episodes even skipping scenes nothing happening or nothing explained then thank god episode six it tried to move along a bit then episode seven the actual action starts and really it became interesting ,, I binged watched the last four episodes yesterday and all I can say this drama should be four or five episodes long only and it should have better director who can actually put time stamps on screen every time the characters jump through time rather than this oblivion that made us half of the time not following what's going on
Of course it's the worst thing that a lazy writer can do is creating mystery without explanation at the finale what the hell he did in this drama ,,, it's either he doesn't have a clue what he actually wrote or he has some weird imagination that no one else can understand
time skip and time jumps without any time stamps or explanation and weird out of no where characters appearing at the end to say few words without any clue what the hell is going on
there are some fans who actually understood the drama and analyze it but even after I've red their breaking down of the plot
I'm baffled ,, the writer created problems and theories as he goes along ,, he changed the theories as he wants whenever he wants it to change
you can read this analysis your self here https://im.youronly.one/snoworld/%EA%B7%B8%EB%A6%AC%EB%93%9C-grid-explained-2022116/
thank you for the one who wrote it
I now don't understand anything more and I feel more stupid
overall it was meh drama not good but slightly entertaining

Disney+’s New Korean Mystery Drama, "Grid" Is a Must-Watch.

◆ Grid, starring Seo Kang-joon, Kim Ah-joong, and Lee Si-young, successfully constructs its apocalyptic future scenario in which Earth is threatened by massive solar flares.

◆ A monotonous quest for a killer precedes the program, which abandons all logic in favor of time-traveling hijinks that undermine efforts at emotional moments.

Grid may not be generating as much social attention as the heartwarming rom com "Forecasting Love And Weather" or the tense zombie apocalypse thriller "All Of Us Are Dead". But believe us when we say you're losing out on a great show if you don't watch it right now. Why? We present our case below.

#01. The premise is extremely intriguing.

- In 1997, an enigmatic entity known only as Ghost (Lee Si-Young) devised the Grid system in order to preserve mankind from a devastating tragedy. After then, Ghost vanished. However, Ghost resurfaced 24 years later and assisted serial murderer Kim Ma-Nok (Kim Sung-Kyun) in escaping from jail. Kim Sae-Ha, played by Seo Kang Joon, attempts to discover the truth about Ghost. He eventually crosses encounters with other people who are also on the hunt for Ghost for various reasons.

Grid's take on a supernatural story is intriguing since, unlike other K-dramas of the same genre, the major supernatural entity in this story (Ghost) isn't presented as either 'good' or 'evil.' The plot's intrigue resides in Ghost's dubious motives in her job of 'saving' humanity. This makes every revelation about this character fascinating since each episode seems like a thrilling guessing game.

#02. An edge-of-your seat plot.

- The Grid is looking for an edge-of-the-seat audience when it premieres on February 16. The fast-paced, exciting world of K-drama centers around a group of hotshots chasing a mysterious figure known only as Ghost.

These individuals must work with a mysterious government organization to track down an elusive figure and uncover why, 24 years after the Grid system was created to protect the planet from the destructive solar winds, Ghost is now an accomplice to murder.

#03. The cinematography, scoring and overall feel of the drama make the viewing experience extremely immersive.

- Supernatural movies take a while to save money on special effects. But Grid's cinematography, score, and overall feel balance its use of CGI and effective storytelling to give viewers a better viewing experience.

For most of the scenes, the excitement comes from the intensity of the character acting and the way each scene is staged, edited and put into place horrific effects. The characters are also given enough room to grow into their own stories. This makes it easy for the audience to immerse themselves in the story without excessive flashbacks, major interruptions from narration and the like.

Grid is a great choice for those who want a break from zombie plots (which seems to be the trend in Asian dramas lately) but aren't clearly driven by the suspense-thriller genre.

#04. Award-winning Stranger writer "Lee Soo-Yeon" is behind Grid's story.

- If you enjoyed the 2020 suspense thriller "Stranger" starring Cho Seung-woo (Sisyphus: The Myth) and Bae Donna (Kingdom), as well as Lee Dong-wook's medical drama (Goblin, Touch Your Heart), then you'll want to be thrilled by the drama's writer., Lee Soo-yeon, is also behind the screenplay for Grid. Her ability to create exciting storylines that still tug at the heartstrings earned her recognition at the 54th Baeksang Arts Awards.

Missed Potential

Pros:
Loved the cast
Liked the soundtrack
Found the premise interesting

Cons:
Plot holes
Sometimes disjointed editing / scene jumping
Adding new questions without answering the old questions
Adding new characters at the end
Leaving too much to a potential S2, instead of a safe 99% conclusion with a slight hint of potential for more

I have been disappointed in the finales in Kdramas the majority of the time for years now. I can usually handle it as a mild frustration. This one left me shaking my head in wonder and for a while, I had no words…

I hope the director learned that you have got to provide your audience with actual answers that they have been faithfully watching for weeks and waiting for.

Confusing but Interesting.. Give it a shot

I have seen many reviews and majority of them are negative, They are saying there are many loop holes, unanswered questions etc. I will keep it simple, Yes it's true that their are many unanswered questions and may be loop holes(I personally don't know what loop holes are there..) but that's given considering it is related to time travel and stuff, Other thing is series is ended with many unanswered questions so there will be a sequel for sure and they made this series keeping that in their mind, most probably question will be answered in upcoming seasons depends upon how many seasons they have in mind, So just judging the series on the basis of this is not right,
I my opinion give it a shot, I personally liked it and I think it is story which will become more interesting in future.
For those people who don't like cliffhangers, Don't watch this or may be wait till whole story is over and then watch the whole series in one go, so you won't be on a cliffhanger for long...
Hope this review helps..

Messy

March 2024
Time travel and solar event drama that, once started, I realised I'd actually watched before, but forgot about. So watched again and realised why, sadly.

It has a few exciting moments, but most of the roles, including the leads, are pretty bland really.

The acting is fine and I liked Jim Ah-joong a lot and her police detective character, Jung Sae-byuk, a straight forward, no nonsense, sensible woman, superior to all her male colleagues, yet not arrogant, although she could act that way if necessary.

Keo Sang-joon gave a good performance too; in fact there was no poor acting, just disappointing characters, as mentioned.

The plot is quite clever, but gets very confusing the more episodes into the story we get. All kinds of stuff happens and cracks in the plot start to show, when some characters remember things, whilst others don't. Logically, any changes made to the past should impact the future, not just in ways that are obvious, but in relation to countless butterfly effects.

However, there seemed to be no rules or consequences. The parameters kept changing and it just got too messy for me.

It wasn't a bad watch overall, but there were lots of unanswered questions and no real conclusion. It felt like a S2 is a fairly good possibility. I'd watch if that happened, but it's not something I'm bothered about really. It wasn't quite gripping enough for me and became too convoluted.
