How Luo Yun Xi's Puppydog Eyes Were Weaponised

I watch a lot of dramas. A LOT. And I am VERY picky. So when I say that a drama is worth all 10 stars, I f*cking mean it.

I decided to watch TTEOTM on a whim, mostly because I am one of the clowns waiting for Immortality to be released since it was first announced. I was very curious to see what Luo Yun Xi's acting was like, so decided to watch the first episode of TTEOTM.

And boy oh boy. I fell hard. For LYX, for Bai Lu, for the drama, for *everything*. If you are a fan of dramatic, epic, heart wrenching romances this is for you. If you are a maso, this is most definitely for you. If you are a fan of costume drama, your eyes will be met with a veritable feast! Everything is beautiful in this drama: the costumes, the writing, the CGI, the sets, the acting, the actors, the music. There is not a single flaw I could find in this masterpiece.

Sooo. How painful is it, you ask? On a scale of fluffy to 2HA, this is 2HA plus some. And the 'plus some' will rip your heart out of your chest, raw and bloody, and trample it on the ground.

Look, I'll confess. I'm somewhat of a maso - so I really enjoy pain. I eat chillis because otherwise food is tasteless. And I look forward to getting shots. Sometimes, I spend hours in the dark, staring at my ceiling, ruminating on the time I farted in front of my coworkers. Other times, I listen to dubstep from the early 2010s - on loop.

But even I, a veteran maso, could not stop the tears flowing. And there was, on more than one occassion, a strong impulse to throw my phone across the room and at least one instance when I gave into said impulse.

Don't worry - there are moments of sweetness to alleviate your freshly acquired (lethal) wounds. Medicine for your battered soul. All the relationships in this drama are full of chemistry and adorable moments. You will be rooting for all of them, and be dazzled by the on screen chemistry of our two main leads. BL and LYX have worked together before, and their friendship shines through here. Watching the BTS footage, it is obvious they are very comfortable with each other and enjoy working together. This translates wonderfully to their shared scenes and the intimacy is off the charts.

And one thing I absolutely love about this drama is that no side character is left in the lurch. Every character is given a backstory and well considered development. They are given a proper plot and their presence is justified. They aren't there just to be plot devices for the main leads, they also have their own shit going on. A world that thrives and progresses independently, outside of the main characters' microcosm, is good writing. Clearly, the writer cares deeply for this story and the many colourful characters within.

Of course, the male lead's character development is as fascinating as it is heartwrenching to watch, and LYX embodies him authentically. His madness, his spite, his vulnerability and confusion, and his warmth and tenderness are expertly and convincingly portrayed. Not to forget those big beautiful eyes that are ever so expressive. His micro expressions are absolutely insane. Every aspiring actor should take note. BTS footage shows LYX studying his character and you can see how much thought and tireless work he pours into his craft.

The female lead is also written very well, given as much depth and consideration as her male counterparts. BL's portrayal of her character is one of quiet strength and deep compassion, a character who struggles with her own soul crushing conflict: the incredibly heavy burden of duty vs her powerful feelings for the male lead. You can see her battle scars slowly building up as the drama goes on, and every smile she wears is tender but full of unspoken pain. All that to say, BL is an incredibly talented and authentic actor. It is much too easy to fall in love with her. Also - I am addicted to BL's screams. Every time I hear it, I get chills. Maybe one day she will consider starting a metal band? I will be first in line to buy her first album!

I might add to this later, because I am currently typing this out on my phone. But for now, all I can say is this:

Watch the first episode.

Watch the first *ten minutes* and I guarantee that you will find yourself bingeing the rest of the drama through the night. And when you stumble into class/work the next morning, bleary eyed and sleep deprived, you are most welcome to curse me out. But you will be so full of chaotic emotions and no doubt more than sated. Oh, and you will be back to watching from episode 1, because you *have* to rewatch it. You have no choice. (Is this a new SCP?).

P.S. I refer to the main couple as 'male lead' and 'female lead' because they have many names. So for clarity sake, I use these phrases instead.

MUST WATCH FOR XIANXIA FANS!

Luo Yunxi portrays his character Tantai Jin with such depth and elegance. One of the most impressive aspects of his performance is his ability to convey a wide range of emotions through his eyes alone, from intense anger to deep sorrow, without relying on words. His eye acting is particularly great in scenes where his character is struggling with his inner demons. However, in my opinion, what truly sets this drama apart is that it defies traditional hero/heroine archetypes. Yunxi's character is an anti-hero with a dark and disturbing side, which makes him a unique and intriguing character. Despite his deep flaws, I couldn't help but root for him!

Bai Lu's character is also a departure from the typical passive or whiny heroine we often see in c-dramas. She takes charge and makes things happen! Also, I loved the reversal of gender roles in many scenes, with Bai Lu's character constantly taking the initiative in intimate situations or saving Yunxi's character, who sometimes finds himself in the role of the damsel in distress.

I’d say "Till the End of the Moon" is a must-watch for anyone who is looking for a xianxia drama that breaks the mold and delivers a fresh take on the genre. A+ from me!

Rant review

Hi, this is my personal review so you guys are welcome to disagree. No hate, please. I am going to go over the good and bad aspects of this drama.

THE GOOD:
1. The story is quite unique. On paper, this story is perfect for a blockbuster series. You get three lifetimes of our main character where they will live differently each time. A perfect pitch for a great drama.

2. The chemistry of the main lead was off the chart. Bai Lu and Luo Yunxi have great chemistry together. As we saw from their previous drama "Love is Sweet". So there was no doubt that they will be great together opposite each other.

3. Music is somewhat good. Nothing unique though.

4. The fight scenes, where they fought instead of jump cuts and wire work, were actually good.

5. VFX in some parts was awesome. It would have been nice if it was consistent. You can actually see the potential of the VFX team in some parts of the drama.

THE BAD:
1. Execution of this drama was so bad. The whole drama repeated the same things over and over again. This drama was all over the place. The repetition of the same story made it boring. The three life showed the same old sappy drama, crying, and betrayal. You guys got three lifetimes, could have tried to do something different.

2. 0 character development of the female lead. Throughout the whole drama, the male lead tries to prove himself multiple times that he is a good person. Whenever there is some development between the main leads something happens and they are back to square one. If you actually love someone love like you mean it. The things that the female lead does was actually harsh and I get that was the main point of this drama. However, after living as Mingye and Sangjiu, there needed to have some significant development in their character and perception of each other.

3. Everything was way too rushed. At one point they were doing something, and in the next, they were doing another thing. Especially after the first 15-20 episodes everything happened in a blink. The characters didn't have any space to breathe. It was like the drama was in a fast mode and they needed to show the three lifetimes quickly.

4. Choppy editing. I don't want to judge the editors but man please do a better job next time. Apart from the jump cut, your drama needs to have some flow. Don't cut out important moments just because you are in a time restraint.

5. The second lead relational developments were so bad that it makes me want to cry at the wasted potential. Some of the character choices were also bad and unnecessary.

6. The costumes were so ridiculous that even the actors made fun of them in their BTS. Come on it's 2023 and we seriously need an upgrade from the typical costumes and color palate. "Sangjiu and Ye Xiwu's wedding dress was cool though."

7. Make-up was all over the place. In some scenes it was good and in some scenes, they just did the actors dirty. Stop whitewashing your actors. they look like dead people, especially Luo. In some cases, I get it was a creative decision but it shouldn't have been the case for most of the scenes.

8. Whoever thought that blood spitting is a great idea is clearly a sadist. When a character spits blood it conveys a message to the audience that something bad is happening or they are in danger. However, if you do it in every scene it just becomes nasty. At one point I was counting splatters on the actors' faces from the blood spits instead of focusing on the story.

Final Thoughts:
This drama needed to be divided into two seasons. In that way, the characters would have had the space to breathe and develop. The story would have also had the substance that it desperately needed. The only reason I finished this drama was because of the main leads. However, the initial excitement I felt at the beginning of the drama died out at the midpoint. The ending was super disappointing, could have done better. Hopefully, we will be able to see Bai Lu and Luo Yunxi together again in another drama. They are a super cute couple.

I think its stupid that ppl are giving this drama a low rating bc of the ending, even though it wasnt what we were expecting it was still good and realistic in a sort way.
The drama has been amazing all the way ,the plot was good costume were out of this world ,the actors were outstanding especially the chemistry between the couples . BLand LYX acting and chemistry are unmatched and i really hope to see them again in another drama.
Even though they were forced to cut so much everytyhing still made sense and it was a good watch... i don t usually enjoy sad stories even less when they don t have HE but this drama kept me coming back for more every single time.
Do i wish that it had a better ending?Yes of course!Do i regret watching it? No never...it was actually the first chinese drama i watched without skiping scenes or taking breaks in between so i loved it i loved the experience of watching it and no i will not change my rating which is a 10.

LOVE EXISTS REGARDLESS OF TIME AND SPACE... just feel it.....

The drama has been quite a treat to watch. I have watched a few in the past similar to this one. But truly this plot is really difficult to direct, a lot of twisted scenes and the drama just put them right in the spot without any errors. The acting of Ml and Fml has been great and the chemistry is just awesome just like they did in LOVE IS SWEET. The ml will think the worst which we never expect when it comes to judging feelings and fml has been both cute and cunny but funny cunning i mean. Overall, i would recommend this drama to anyone who wants to find some drama with a storyline or even if they want comedy or romance. But to be frank, there are a lot entanglements in this drama a whole lot of misunderstandings which tells us that we should give freedom for others to repent on their mistakes and also should know the truth behind why they did it and does they regret it or not... ? It has been a great drama but somehow i felt the last episode is a bit rushed... I wished TTJ would stay alive and i even got tears rolling in my eyes. But, nevertheless, this is a great drama and i would have been more happy if both TTJ & LSS made out alive... Thanks youku for showing me a great drama..

"The Beauty of Unconventional Storytelling in Till The End of The Moon"

Till The End of The Moon is a drama that challenges traditional storytelling and captivates its audience with an unconventional approach. The creative and excellent storyline, amazing cast and team, fitting songs, improved CGI, and beautiful cinematography make this production a top-notch masterpiece. The faster pacing and less draggy moments enhance the viewing experience, but due to censorship restrictions, some important details were taken off, leading to confusing events with no depth explanations. Moreover, the romance of the leads lacked a strong foundation, leaving the audience unfulfilled. However, this drama's real beauty lies in its unique approach to storytelling. The characters, especially TanTaiJin, are portrayed with depth and complexity that challenges viewers to think outside the box. The actors and actresses gave their all, and it shows in their portrayal of three couples playing different roles. LuoYunXi, in particular, deserves recognition for his outstanding performance in expressing himself differently through his eyes as three different characters. If you're ready for a rollercoaster ride of unconventional storytelling, Till The End of The Moon is the perfect drama for you.

Xianxia always brings a mix of emotions.

The last time i got hooked with Xianxia is with Ashes of Love and that shit was such a long time ago. I knew what I was gonna be in the moment I started TTEOM.

But the difference with TTEOM is that the way its written is too good to be compared to AOL. AOL was a legend of its time but for me TTEOM has went over what AOL has reached. From the casting, story, VFX, and OST is just too perfect that it goes together without any doubt.

As a writer myself, I do love writing sad and bittersweet endings because it just sucks the living soul of the readers that they'd want to re-live your characters in their own ways and that itself is a success for us writers.

As much as I am hurt with the ending of this series, I am pretty much satisfied with it. It gave me a closure with the characters and I think the writers and the producers did a very good job in doing that.

I am still emotional while writing this but I really am gonna miss everyone in this series.

The best Chinese Drama Of the year

Initially , i only Saw the visual of the cast of this film, who were very beautiful and handsome. Luo Yun Xi as Tantai Jin. Love him so much ❤️
Bailu as Ye Xiwu very beautiful and cute. I was interested to download Youku and be VIP Member for watching it. The storyline was easy to understand even though it went back and forth. The ending also according to expectation because the core of the story is love and sacrifice.
Pleace watching it at Netflix, you Will not regret, cause i think this is the best Chinese Drama of the year. Hopefully, at the future , there Will be another drama like that. Btw, Im from Indonesia, make an account for review this drama, cause i can't login at weibo and support my idol.

BEST ANGSTY XIANXIA DRAMA EVER BUT.....

FOUR WEDDING, FOUR HEARTBREAKS??

I'm not really a fan of angst drama but I watch this drama only bc of my girl Bailu❤...
I'm big fan of bailu.. Lyx and bl chemistry ?one of the cp in cdrama land...

TTEOTM is my most anticipated drama bc Bailu ❤...LYX indeed costume god he perfectly fit for this role no one can portray the TTJ character as him... And MY god of war that fight scene are sooo EPIC never seen such a fight in xianxia drama...

As a Bailu fan I'm disappointed with that production team editing team... Bailu is known for her versatile acting she is the best but they edit out most of her scene..
She is a goddess but they not give her better fight scene and little screen time Even in that little appearance of Lulu she perfectly Potrary 3 character in different way
Starting of this show was perfect fast pace and interesting story line but in middle part they totally mess up the plot writer totally ruined LSS character ... Stupid writer both ttj &yxw learn sacrifice each other for love from my &sj but not learn that misunderstanding causes everything ☹️☹️

Even I really like this drama only because of the cast LYX&BL both of them chemistry is on ??

An iconic, creative Xianxia

Finally a refreshing, thought-provoking show that respects its adult audience (ML is not a goody two shoes/FL is not childish). I had a blast watching! Really appreciate how it introduces morally grey characters on the premise that regardless of your background, you are ultimately who you choose to be. YBC/TH manipulated people using honorable reputation. GYJW/SJ started as innocent but succumbed to desires. XL/MY abandoned their loved ones for peace. YQY/LSS did bad things for good causes. PR/SY sacrificed themselves despite being demons. And oof TTJ/CJM underwent such an immense development I can hardly think of a more complex character. He changed from being a vindictive, emotionless schemer to saving the world in a benevolent, selfless way.
I was getting tired of all the "love conquers all", "karma knows best" or "good vs. evil" tropes. Feelings are fleeting. Reality is unfair. And life is not always black and white.
Last but not least, unbeatable chemistry between the leads omg. 0 dead fish kisses. Too bad we lost some eps due to airing restrictions but definitely an iconic, creative xianxia!
