A BL that is worth watching
Although I'm a fujoshi, I don't watch many BL but read ALOT of BL novels. And of the BLs I watched so far this is so far THE BEST!! I LOVED IT SO MUCH!!The plot was interesting, keeping you in suspense. The acting was excellent and didn't make me cringe. And the chemistry between ALL the couples in the drama is *internally screaming* SO DAMN GOOD!!
And the steamy scenes........*drooling*
...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
This is definitely a BL that is worth watching.

"The" BL
Basically, everything I feel watching KinnPorsche (La Forte) was already reviewed here. All the positive ones, I mean. But, this series is also important in the way they show that sexuality, the homosexuality is completely accepted, or better: completely normal in KinnPorsche world. And homosexuality including love, affection and sex. It's not an issue. For example, Mr. Korn being pleased about the relationship between Kinn and Porsche. Even in the Minor Family it's not a issue. And impossible don't mention Vegas-Pete (two of the best construction of characters and of the powerful acting by two first-roles actors, Bible Wichapas Sumettikul and Build Japan Puttha). But all cast deserves recognition.
Search for videos with the cast talking about sexuality, very interesting, informative and totally anti-prejudice.
Talking about the cast, it's impossible don't mention the acting. It's amazing. And KP is the very first role off the majority off the actors: Bible and Build for example.
And impossible not mention the production, it's basically like a first class cinema movie, the stunning cinematography, the soundtrack: Free Fall, by Slot Machine express exactly the vibe of the show.
Well, KinnPorsche it's an experience.

This is a masterpiece, fight me
It's a new level in thai-dramas, acting skills of the cast are super high. locations, music, colours, aesthetic, story - the highest level. The staff did a greatest job, the story from the novel was changed and it's twice better. It's a real masterpiece, I want to say thanks for the whole staff and cast, you are amazing
I really hope that they will give us season 2 and we won't be disappointed, because this company can make a great things. I really wait for any news about them and I want to continue follow them

Unique and well-played series
I liked this BL a lot, because the story is different from other BL's. You could really see BOC putted a lot of effort in it and it came out well too. Only I think the story went a bit out the way because mostly you saw Kinn and Porsche doing lovey things instead of really solving problems that were going on. I think the acting was really good! When I watched the BTS I saw they putted a lot of effort in it once again you saw that they were concentrating on doing the best they are able to do and the camera angles even made it better! I liked the music too but sometimes they could've putted it away like in the sex scene of Vegas and Pete, like we were allowed to hear Kinn and Porsches moans then we are allowed to hear Vegas and Petes too. But the music of the scenes with tension and sadness it was done really well. Myself I would really rewatch it for the unique story it was really worth those two years of waiting. And the sex scenes were also really good. Was this review helpful to you?
All the hype isn't there for nothing.
I'm here to say, this is by far the BEST show I've watched that really brought something to the audience, serving nothing but talent, striking visuals, and excellent cinematography. Since I've seen some people be really 'bitter' about this show's morals and this being only s*x scenes and whatnot, zip it up and see for yourself if it's worth the hype or not. It's a Mafia BL and, surprise surprise, supposed to be dark and intense but they DO NOT justify the grey morality moments AT ALL. Some people jump to conclusions way too soon for their good.
It's not always required for one guy to be 'feminine' in a gay relationship, portraying a 'female' because that's bullsh*t. Everyone may vary and not necessarily have a 'damsel in distress' type persona. Men in this series stood up for themselves and needed no 'man in shining armor to lock them away in some tower for safety'.
Kinn and Porsche give Alpha×Alpha vibes that are SO rare and such a switch up from what's mainstream, I feel that's why it's special.
For me, it was worth every second each Saturday I stood awake for the episode release. I'd wax poetry any day about how MileApo's chemistry and the production team just delivered every single time. Unlike some eye-candy engaging in awkward attempts of romance catering solely to the enjoyment of hetero women, using taboo themes as plot devices no matter how wrong they seem, (yeah I'm calling out this one show that was way more hyped than it delivered) everyone went in depths to portray what they're supposed to, went into the character and not just for the 'camera'. You could see in behind the scene and what the actors themselves say, they have even had hard times breaking away from their character after a scene.
BibleBuild hit the nail spot on with their screentime, despite being short, had quite the impact as Vegas and Pete quickly became one of the most loved side couples in the BL industry. As well as KimChay, though it would've been better if they had more scenes to develop properly.
How unique and powerful is the characterization here!!! Literal art for some scenes.
Having a few OSTs that make you FEEL, especially 'Why Don't You Stay' is GOLD and matches just well with the scenes they pair with.
Storywise, there were some cliche spots, yet chemistry on and off camera just somehow makes it up for me. Everyone looked good, brought justice and liveliness to their characters in the best way, making it a hell of a journey for more than 3 months. Watching Kinnporsche was one of the best choices I made. The dramatic fandom is the cherry on top, ngl.
It ended yesterday with EP 14 being the longest and in my opinion one of the best ones. It somehow feels empty now and I have no sense of what I'm gonna do next lmao, but with the discussions being brought up about some obvious plot holes and secrets that are yet to be revealed, I'm crossing fingers for a Season 2.
I NEED S2 to survive.
All the hype isn't there for nothing.

the best show? yes. A masterpiece ? Definetly. A piece of art? What else could it be?
What to say else but a masterpiece, reviewing this series seems so easy because there are so many good things to say about it but so hard at the same time because I can't express how much this felt like something out of this world. Beauty, that's a way to explain it, pain, that's another. If I could tell how much I loved this series I would want to say everything at once. The production is a piece of art, the casting are talented gems, the music makes you feel like you're out of this world, and the colors are stunning.I want to thank everyone who worked so hard to make this happen. Thank you for giving us this, thank you for everything it means for the fans. This felt like the best time of my life every Saturday.
Hope for a season 2, you have to stay...

I dont think it hit the hype.
Its clearly an unpopular opinion right now because everyone thinks this is revolutionary, and I dunno if ill get ratioed with a bunch of _you're entitled to your wrong opinion_ comments lol, but yeah.Till ep 3
I was incredibly excited for this series. Im glad we graduated engineering finally, leads have chemmy, most importantly the trailers were like art films.
And i still like that, even the finished series just screams money, but tactfully, no tackiness, just great cinematography. And COLORS.
So 9 for cinematography, ill put it in the realm of ITSAY(they have the same person on the cinematography if im not wrong?)
The actual show? Boring, standard at best, at least so far. Im not saying its bad but for ALL the hype its gotten, it still seems like a standard bl MINUS all(well...most of) the fanservice(for now), just corni unfunny slapstick(?) and slightly !emotional! filler. And random kiss at the end(GOOD kissing tho ill give em that too)
Which is ok. Ish.
Maybe itll get better. Perhaps. I'm aware they havent really gotten into the plot yet. If this review sucks, too bad , Im just really trash at explaining my thoughts but tldr basically: boring, standard at best, doesn't fit the hype(so far)
I'll probably drop it but have fun watching i guess.
Edit: watched ep 4
?? I don't know whether it's considered rape or what but Porsche guy being drugged out of his brains made this uncomfortable.
It's also very very very explicit which also made me uncomfortable for no reason because I can imagine how awkward it is for them to film lol.
At least it's less tryhard 'funny' this episode so I'll consider that a slight improvement.
That said nothing really has happened yet plot wise, save for komedi.
Unless that whole thing with the drug thinghas any relevance beyond being a convenient set up for seggsy content. Ah we have finally descended into the fanservice.
Will I watch the rest of this? Of course I will, even if it's just to shit on it :p but I'll wait for it to pick up on the plot and comment!:::
I'd rate it a 6
*Watched ep 5
I'm liking this alot better. Much of the garbage humour is done away with, I appreciate that. They made Porsche angry about the dubcon thing and the general disrespect, also appreciated that.
And why is vegas so....? attractive
It's still kind of bland in my opinion so I'll just keep it at 7
Also the pacing? Has anything really even happened yet? I'm aware the drugging is serious stuff but at this point it just feels like a random isolated event right now and if they go at this pace they'll be rushing through some of the later parts
Maybe the kidnap scene brings more to this, of course

Free Fall into the world of KinnPorsche
There is a massive shift in the world and everything around us. We can see this change in almost anything and everything. One of them is in the entertainment industry. As networks have woke up to the fact of what the viewers want to see and desire, they have started to accept many types of genres that reflect not only their own lifestyles but the lives of those around them and what they all go through. Everyone’s story and voice are now given importance. This is where they have started to accept many shows, movies and books that have massive incorporation of LGBTQ characters and storylines. One of those types of series is called the ‘KinnPorsche’, which is a 2022 Thai action romance drama television series based on a web novel. The series follows Porsche as he finds himself drawn into the mafia underworld by Kinn Theerapanyakul, who are the main leads, which is played by Mile and Apo.
There is so much rollercoaster of emotions in this. From having the characters and actors pulling you into it and having your soul sucked dry. As each week passes by, they leave you wanting and waiting for more. Not just the two man leads, but all the other actors and characters make sure that they leave a mark in your heart. Be it the theme song, or the setting, everything captivates you and sends you into their world. And I am so glad that I have picked this up!
This is one such show that made me fall in love with the Thai series all over again even though I am from a totally different culture. And that speaks volumes, to have an audience from all around the world. KinnPorsche is doing that. As days pass, I am sure that this will definitely be one such show that will keep growing. To anyone who wants some action and boys love drama, pick this one up. You definitely will not regret it. Especially when the men in them are all such great talents. So what are you waiting for? Pick it up!

Surprised
I thought this series got cancelled? when the other production company said they ran out of funds or something like that and the writer quitting. I am actually in shock this get made. This new one looks soo expensive, they must have spend a huge budget. What actually shocked me the most is the acting In this series, everyone was on point I will continue to watch to see how this goes .
I love the guy playing porche, he is my spirit animal. Soo bubbly . I love all the cars they used as a car lover .

DEFINITELY WORTH YOUR TIME!!
I never write reviews but I had to because I’m actually shocked at the number of negative reviews, for me personally this is one of the best BLs I have watched, I honestly don’t know what people are expecting from this drama to have such a negative view on it?As this drama is based on a book the writers and directors have done a great job in cutting out parts of the book to make it fit in 14 eps and still keeping the flow of the story.
Every episode goes by so quick it’s painful to wait for a week and I’m also guilty of skipping parts in series that I find boring BUT not once have I ever skipped anything in KinnPorsche!!
What I look for in a drama is for it to be entertaining, good acting and good OSTs and for me KinnPorsche definitely has it so I strongly recommend to everyone GO WATCH IT!! It’s honestly so good you won’t regret it ???

Putting my kp defender hat on (fetishizing? toxic? romanticizing abuse/sa? no plot?)
Okay, this is my first review on mdl so be patient with me and buckle up because this going to be long as i would like to take this chance to clear some "popular beliefs" about this series that have been repeated over and over again in both the comment and review sections, popular beliefs that are actually FALSE which i'm going to debunk thanks to the help of my greater friends: the oxford dictionary and critical thinking! The premise is over so let's get started!-Story is a solid 8.5. While my biased ass would like to give everything a 10, i believe that one of the purposes of writing a review is to give a truthful glimpse of what future watchers should expect from the series reviewed, and since i believe honesty is the best policy, here are my thoughts about the overall story and what i think could have been better. Contrary to what a lot of people have been saying, this series has a plot, a plot that works "undercover" since episode 1 while we discover the main characters of this story (WARNING: this is a character-driven series which means that through the developments of the characters and their relationships the story unfolds, so if you're not into that and prefer series packed with an overbearing amount of plot each episode, this is not for you). Our main protagonist is Porsche who is a 50% unserious, unhinged, and reckless university student on the verge of dropping out and a 50% loving and kinda absent (due to circumstances) brother to Porchay whom he's his everything: the last thing his parents left him to take care of (yes, spoiler but not really he's an orphan) along with the house. Every decision being taken by porsche, decisions heavily criticized by some reviewers and labeled nonsensical, is actually in character with his persona and the lovesick fool is going to become once he falls in love with his forever-worthy foe, Kinn, the heir of the Theerapanyakul clan aka the main family. Kinn, unlike Porsche, is presented to us as this domineering, serious, cold, rational mafia prince (spoiler: he's actually husband material once he falls in love) who is only obedient and second in power to his father, the leader of the clan or as i call him the master puppeteer, Korn, a character and a relationship that will play a big role in understanding the reasoning behind kinn's choices, keep that in mind! What is interesting about their relationship and how it works so perfectly is that, both kinn and porsche are presented to the viewers as incompatible in every single way but as their story progresses we slowly start to understand that they have much more in common than they initially let in. Their inherent understanding of each other, which seemed inexplicable (and some people still don't understand), actually comes from them bearing the same type of burden, the family burden, hence they find solace and understanding in each other something that is never going to change even with the many miscommunications they have going on and that they will continue to have because they are just humans and people don't change that easily like all these bl series want you to believe. I'm not going to explain step by step what's going to happen but the focal point of the plot is Porsche (why would a mafia leader hire a street-tough with 0 experience and relation to the mafia world? What is the reason? And that reason is slowly but surely given to us along with the budding relationship between Kinn and Porsche). Their story is what start the engine of the plot, a plot that moves forwards with them. Again, this kind of character-driven series is actually the most common one, let's think about all the popular bls out there such as i told sunset about you (one of my absolute favorites), bad buddy, not me or until we meet again, every single one of them is character-driven, "the plot" comes second and moves with the relationship of the main couple which is the main focus, the main entrée, the main engine of these series. So why do a lot of people who enjoy this type of character-driven story consider kinnporsche's plot weak? Simple, unlike all the bls i've just mentioned kp has what people deem "toxic" characters (but i'm going to further explain this below and why it's bullshit). Also to have a bit of context to what i'm trying to say you should go take a look at the numerous interviews with the all crew, particularly you should listen to what p'pond, the main director, said about this series and what is the main intent of it. This is first and foremost a LOVE STORY about flawed characters, human beings who struggle in the unusual setting they have found themselves in, it's about broken humans who find solace in each other. The mafia is just a setting, the mafia is just a background that plays a role in the story but it's NOT the main focus and they have always been clear about that.
Now, what i disliked. One criticism i agree with is the fucked up pacing and the time laps that unfortunately they failed to properly show us: kinn and porsche first kiss was like a month into Porsche's new life as kinn's bodyguard and we know that because kinn mentions it otherwise we wouldn't have been aware. The pete and vegas storyline seems very rushed and that is because they failed to show us proper time lapses because there are many hints that pete wasn't held hostage for just a few days, but the way they decided to go with it wasn't it and it's the main reason why i think not a lot of people felt the deepness of their feelings, and i blame it all on the "time management". Also, there are some technical and logical inconsistencies that could have been easily corrected which remind me a bit of all that hollywood nonsense, just to name a few: the lack of bulletproof vests for the bodyguards, the dusty blood every time someone is shot (i guess that red dust looks great on camera and it's visually appealing but doesn't make much sense irl lol), pete's bruises that keep appearing and disappearing like they have a life of their own lol (i.e when pete returns to the main family his arms appear to be free of bruises but then in the bathroom scene they magically make a comeback). Since we are on the topic of inconsistencies, i want to give my two cents, i've seen people a lot of people in the reviews mentioning plot holes but never actually explaining what these plot holes are or when they point them out it's just a lack of attention to what's happening on the screen and the details that, to be fair, could have been easily missed. Overall, the story to me is pretty consistent and solid and makes for a good entertainment, so don't be fooled there are not THAT many plot holes, there is a just amount of them like in every other series.
Acting/Cast 10/10
I know that a lot of people might find a 10 exaggerated and biased since it's not like there are any oscar worthy performances and i agree, it is exaggerated but it's a ten that needs to be put into context, i'm reviewing, and rating this as a THAI series and if you know a bit about thai series you would find the 10 kinda reasonable. I've seen a lot of people calling out the "bad acting" in kp and to that, i'm going to copy and paste a comment i wrote some days back because i know that most of these people rating the acting less than 7 or calling it bad have actually no experience or a very limited one with thai series, bl or not.
"Being the noisy individual that i am, i always look at the profiles' of the people because i'm interested in understanding where the criticisms come from and let me tell you that i wasn't surprised in the least that for most of these people it was their first thai series and approximately 7 out of 10 had come from kdrama watchers. I'll introduce myself: hi everyone! I've been a tv series watcher for most of my life and an asian drama enjoyer for the past 15 years and let me tell you when i say that the first time i watched an asian drama (i started my journey with the kdrama winter sonata) i was weirded out by the acting is an understatement, especially because i was mostly used to classic american series. I immediately found the acting really "bad" only later to realize that it was not the acting that was bad, it was just different, a different way of acting (as in mimicking daily behaviors which i was not accustomed to), very different from the ones i saw in american or more westerns series. When i got used to korean dramas i then jumped on the dorama train (precisely i started with the iconic hana yori dango), and let me tell you that i was once again weirded out by the acting, the way they acted was very different and while they had a "similar" vibe it was still a totally different way of acting (as in behaving) and spoiler alert that was because cultures and societies influence they way one's acts, behaviors that are later on mimicked in tv series. Well you got the drill, this "culture shock" in the form of acting happened to me every time i jumped on a series from a different foreign country, but the worst shock i got was probably from my first thai series which threw me into a completely different setting from the ones i was used to: the "weird" humor, the dramatic antics, the acting, each of them totally different from all my previous experiences. In the beginning, i also considered it bad acting but then watching more thai dramas (bl and not) i understood that it's wasn't bad acting, they were just different behaviors from what i was used to (NB: not saying that bad acting doesn't exist in thai dramas, it does and it's kinda everywhere nowadays as companies prefer cute faces over talent, but i feel that to really call a performance bad acting you must have some kind of "benchmark", something that some kp watchers have not hence why a lot were weirded out by the humor, the cheesy acting and others behavior). The thai drama industry is VERY different from the korean, japanese or chinese ones which is why when watching a thai series i try not to compare it to other asian dramas because they follow different parameters. Kinnporsche is great series THAI style and has a lot of great acting moments. This not me trying to stop future critiques of this show, everyone's thoughts are valid, this is a message directed ONLY towards the ones who have a limited experience with thai series and uses drama from other countries as their "benchmark", just a reflection in hope to make you see things from another perspective."
Music 9
I'll keep it short because i have much more to say. The soundtrack was ALMOST perfect, very fitting to the scenes, and very telling, music set the mood and made some scenes more enjoyable. The ost is actually also great, my favorite out of all thai series, c'mon slot machine and jeff satur, do i need to say more? The only thing i wish there was more variety, some tracks while being good where repeted too much for my likings.
AND now onto the real thing i want to discuss, if you're easily pressed read at your own risk:
i've seen too many times the words "romanticization" and "fetishization" being thrown around carelessly, without any proper explanation of why they feel it is so, and this is something that really irks me because these words are slowly starting to lose their meanings to become umbrella terms for whatever people feel like they mean. So let's go take a look at what the oxford dictionary says but before that a reminder of the warnings given at the beginning of every episode: "Characters, behaviors, places, agencies, occupations and events in this series are FICTIONAL and for ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY. IT IS NOT INTENDED TO PROMOTE ANY ACTION IN THE SERIES. VIEWER'S DISCRETION IS ADVISED" These are the warnings that appear at the beginning of every single episode and they are the same warnings that some of y'all like to disregard every episode just to say "this series promotes..." No, this series has no educational purposes which means that it does not promote anything, and it has been written, said, and repeated over and over again by everyone at this point, directors and viewers alike. Do you take fiction too seriously? Are you one of those people who think FICTION has a direct impact on reality? Well, i'm sorry to inform you but that's on you, it's not the series' fault, and this is also why there's literally written "viewers' discretion is advised" a warning that you consciously decide to ignore just to complain about everything that you have been warned about (also, it's a MAFIA themed series, what the hell did you expect? pls someone enlighten me because i still don't understand the expectations you have for this series. The portrayal of high moral standards, standards that most of the time are also unreachable in real life? Pls don't make me laugh). If you see a warning that says "don't touch" but you decide to ignore it and proceed to touch it just to get hurt, whose fault it is? Exactly.
Now onto the definition of these 2 words:
- People claim that the series romanticizes abuse, rape, sa and so and so forth. Setting aside the warnings, let's take a look at the definition: "to romanticize means to make something seem more attractive or interesting than it really is" So by this definition and your claims the show makes abuse/rape/sa better and appealing than they actually are. Sure, but may i ask you where this happens? Are we talking about the dubious consent/sa/whatever you consider porsche and kinn's first time? If so let's talk about it. Some people say that it romanticizes abuse because they played some sort of romantic music in the background which might be true if context wasn't a thing. Was the director's intent really to romanticize sa? Or they were just showing what happened through porsche's eyes? The colors, the focal lens, everything gives a blurry, discontinued, an almost dream-like vibe which is related to porsche's state. The music and atmosphere were in tune with porsche's emotions. Also, are we forgetting that episode 5 exists? Are we forgetting that they clearly showed both porsche and kinn struggling with coming to terms with what happened and all the repercussions brought by that night? How did the series make what happened in episode 4 better when we see porsche literally breaking down? Because it clearly does not, you don't see what porsche has gone through because of that and say: "yeah i want that too! it's so cool!" I would have agreed on the romanticization argument if they left it at that and made it seem like nothing happened, but they did not because episode 5 exists for a reason. You can't take such a scene and ignore what it follows because what happens after determines if the intent was to gloss over the issue or not. Or are we talking about the abuse against pete perpetrated by vegas? Even that, how does the series make the abuse better or good? Can someone elaborate on that? And since we are on the topic, the vegaspete storyline is really complex, and no i'm not saying this to sound elitist or to make it seem deeper than it actually is, both vegas and pete are two very flawed and broken individuals (just like everyone else in the series) and as weird as it sounds they found a bit of "solace" in each other, something that does NOT stem from the abuse and if you think it is then i believe you missed the point of their whole story (and i'm sure y'all are also the same people who believe that vegaspete are in love when if you paid attention you wouldn't call that love, at least immediatly). So in conclusion, however you want to look at it, the show does not make anything better or more appealing, for every action there's a consequence and that's life, people make decisions, and sometimes they make shitty decisions and go along with them but it does not mean that the show romanticizes those decisions.
-Some of y'all have accused the show to fetishize m/m relationships but let's take a look at the meaning of the said word "to fetishize means to get sexual pleasure from thinking about or looking at a particular thing" (in an obsessive way). If you think that the series fetishizes m/m relationships just because it shows two grown men with a high sexual drive/libido acting according to it and having sex and showing their affection to each other physically, then there's the door, go back on twitter where nonsense is normalized. And also if the only thing you got to comment about from 14 episodes is the 5 nc scenes which are no longer than 2/3 minutes each, then i have bad news for you, because maybe you're the ones that watched it for the sex. Not to mention that every nc scene has a purpose, they tell us something about their dynamic, their conflict, their inner feelings, etc, they ARE important. I know that having multiple nc scenes that are not straight-up in yo face fanservice is strange but believe me when i say that if you left those scenes out, their story would lose something, and we as the viewers we would have lost some understanding of these characters. If people after watching this show decide to fetishize or overly obsess with m/m relationship irl (which is gross) that's on them, the show does not carry that responsibility, not when they were all very clear of the aim. The show is not responsible for people's actions and thoughts.
In conclusion, if you want a show with great cinematography, acting and a story that is character-driven then kinnporsche is for you (however keep in mind all the tw and the mature nature of it), if not that's completely fine i'm sure there are tons of series out there that can satisfy your taste <3

My Disappointment Is Immeasurable and My Day Is Ruined
I dont wanna see people I don't like kiss and fall in "love".
I felt it with cutie pie and I feel it here, some characters (or more specifically, their decisions) are just too unlikable to overlook. The leeway given to mediocre plot in exchange for decent, not awkward BL doesn't exist here, because even the BL parts left me conflicted.
If a show is GOOD, like really, sincerely good, I just watch it. Back to back to back until it's done. I was reading reviews while watching episode 2 because I couldn't fathom how this got that high of a rating and I've had fastforward held down since the beginning of ep. 2. I'm skipping forwards constantly because Porsche is so aggressively unlikable. For all that he was wary of the mafias, he starts working for them and immediately begins acting a fool. I was literally rooting for someone to shoot him-- not fatally, though I don't think I'd care regardless, but anything to just restart the brain he seemed to have left behind in episode one. I'm not even done with episode two yet and this is all I have to say about it. The only positive is that episode one was interesting enough to get me to episode two. Episode two might not be interesting enough to get me to episode three, but the reviews implied it'll be worth it to wait for the VegasPete storyline so I'm gonna see how long I can hang on.
If you hate cringe, this one's not for you. By episode two, there's no breaks between Porsche making Stupid Fucking Decisions™️. Every single scene, you can assume he'll take the stupidest, most deranged action possible, without fail. He seemed like a reasonable, serious young man in the first episode, but in the second, we learn he is your average, pos asshole. I'm being so real, it has been four minutes since I wrote the previous paragraph and every time he's on screen the urge to drop this show increases exponentially. It's not even stressful because I KNOW he's going to do something so stupid it feels patently unrealistic. It's annoying in the kind of way that just make you want to leave, there's nothing to be said. I like unlikable characters when done correctly, but this is a type of unlikable that I don't think some backstory can fix. He does something that should end with a bullet between the eyes (because they're the MAFIA, HELLO???? do actions not have consequences????) and all that happens is he gets lightly strangled to sleep. How the hell do you even gently strangle someone??? And everyone else in the room who are literally also mafias are okay with just that??? Sure, yeah, ok, I'll believe it even though me, as a viewer, was as unsatisfied as they should've been.
I cannot properly communicate how disappointing this series is so far. And every new scene I watch, I have to come back to type more because I hate it. I'm STILL IN EPISODE TWO. Every. Single. Scene. Is. Frustrating. I might just start skipping whenever I see Porches face and hope the second couple saves this.
I've made it to episode three with only a single lobotomy, yay. I can't tell if it's Porsche or the author who forgot about the brother he's supposed to care dearly for. He goes out (and thus definitely has service) and doesn't think of him once. Now that Kinn's brother is more front and center, I can see that everything I took issue with in the previous episodes was an attempt at comedy. Not one bit of it landed, including in this episode, but I can at least see where the director thinks I should be laughing.
Episode three marks Porsche taking things slightly more seriously. Unfortunately, I am already rooting for anyone who isn't him AND doesn't like him. He puts himself in more stupid situations that he KNOWS won't go well (and it's also never explained how doing what he wants somehow trumps everyone else's authority. He just leaves his new boss to go work for the old one without consulting either? And it just works out I guess, because it's never addressed ? sure ok. But why write a mafia story?) Someone points a gun and Porsche holds his up for literally two seconds. Two seconds, and then just raises his hand instead? Like bro, at this point just say, "omg babe this isn't you, put the gun down." Wtf is a hand supposed to do against bullets????
Everything's apparently life and death because mafia, but everybody pulls guns out for fun and then doesn't shoot. I thought we were going to get something gritty and real because one dude gets shot for fun in episode one, but that is literally as interesting as it will ever get. The montages of "Oh fun drunk times haha" is literally the most engaging part of this episode and the last. I do not know if the bar can get lower than six feet under, but it's trying. Speaking of the second bar trip, still no sign of giving two shits about his brother. It's like the character from the start is absolutely gone. And they just established its only been a month, so it's not like he should've changed entire personalities.
The "romance" between Kinn and Porsche feels forced. And then it is forced, because Kinn forces a makeout on a drunk Porsche despite Kinn himself seeming almost sober. We're in episode four now, by the way. I haven't had much to compliment in this series, so I'll say this much: the opening song is great. No urge to skip it, especially when I know the episode won't be. The episode recaps go over the last two episodes, which would be awesome if anything happened in them, but is instead just entirely unnecessary. Even to this point, Porsche is unlikable, irritating, and just plain dumb. Takhun is currently the most likable character and, if you're watching the series, you'll understand why that's bad. Vegas was on screen for ten seconds and managed to be the best character so far. The best character otherwise would be Pete, but Pete doesn't dislike Porsche, so he gets points deducted. Jesus, this character is so annoying. I'm sorry, every time I press play, he's doing something fucking stupid. The best thing he's done so far is not be homophobic, which is not a high bar.
Have y'all noticed I haven't mentioned the story at all? It's because there isn't one. I have never cared less about a plot and I haven't even been able to locate this one to care about. Vegas just did something so lame bro, I can't breathe, I need one good character PLEASE. It's not as stupid as Porsche or Kinn's behavior so maybe I just forget it happened? I think this series gives me the ick because I'm just unsatisfied with every little thing at this point. Like the diamond auction?? I could understand gold but wtf gives a shit about diamonds???? A secret auction for a rock with no actual value?? Yeah, the ick. If anything else was believable, I'd overlook a lot, but the show never misses an opportunity to be shit.
Remember that forced romance I mentioned? Well now it's literal, Kinn fucks Porsche when he's drugged at a bar ?. I knew it was coming and I still was hoping it'd go different. I'm now in episode five (in about two hours since I began, that's how much I'm skipping and fast forwarding) and I think this is the last one. I can't stomach more of this waiting for a better couple, especially because now that I've seen a bit more of Vegas, my hopes are nonexistent.
I have now seen an additional bit more of Vegas and take back my previous statement. The first couple barely exists, the second couple has yet to acknowledge each other... why is there a third couple? They're cute, as in the people who play then are cute. The characters themselves I couldn't give less of a fuck about and they're scenes push me further out of a drama I was already way out of. Imma get into episode six though, because it's only taking 10mims per ep at this point. I don't know if I can still count this as watching, but I also still get what's going on because there's really not much so. Speaking of episode six, if you're stuck outside with no source of clean water, don't drink river, lake, or pond water until day three, when it's urgent. Parasites exist. Also, this shouldn't need to be said, but if you see a ravine, don't jump over it. Especially if you can clearly see the sides of it bro, fr just walk around, was this necessary???
There is no greater pain than trying to fastforward only to realize you've already been watching at 2x. At this point I'm now aware this is like a series of vaguely mafia themed fantasies the author had and then attempted to string together with a hair thin plot. Its actually a really bearable watch if you keep that in mind. That said, now that I'm on episode seven, I understand and agree that Vegas is saving this show. He won't succeed, but now I just skip to whenever his face shows up. Anyway, I watched about halfway through episode eight and then I was abruptly done. Nothing really happened to make it so, I just didn't want to watch anymore, even with all the skipping.
I won't say don't watch this, but if you're thinking of watching it, you should probably try walking your turtle or teaching your pet bird to swim first, it will be more entertaining ?
This was, obviously, written as I watched, so please excuse any confusing sentences/sentence structure.
