The wonderful C-Drama

The story of Qian Heng and Cheng Yao is my PREFERRED story love ❤️. I would like more collaborations with Chen Xing Xu and Zhang Ruo Nan, they are so cute together 😍.
I loved the whole series, the main actors, the story and the music.
One important thing that impressed me was the chemistry between Chen Xing Xu & Zhang Ruo Nan, as they make a wonderful couple in this series.
Unfortunately 😔, many beautiful scenes from the series were cut during editing, but those scenes would have created a phenomenal series.
I would like season 2 of "My Boss" ❤️🇲🇩.

Great drama but had potential to be better

This drama is cute and both leads are in their first relationship so watching them learn together was really cute. On the other hand, I was sometimes getting second hand embarrassment because of the fact that it was their first relationship. For example, their first kiss was soooo embarrassing. They obviously hadn’t kissed before and they both closed their eyes. He wanted to kiss her on her lips but since his eyes were closed he missed her lips and kissed her corner lips/her cheek. The sound effect to make it more embarrassing really did it job cause I had to pause the drama out of embarrassment! Anyways, I really loved Wu Jun (ML’s best friend) and Cheng Xi (FL’s sister), they formed a great mature couple, hey should have their own drama tgt. Plus, their visuals were matching. Their was another couple, Tang Yang and the other guy, in the office, really nice and mature couple, loved them! The ending was rushed but I guess like a lot of Chinese dramas. The ending wasn’t that great as their wedding was super rushed and the kid wasn’t theirs but WuJun’s and Cheng Xi’s. It would have made sense if they had more screen time. Overall great drama.

A Relationship with Flaws

I picked this up because I like the actor Chen Xing Xu. He’s a very versatile actor and I have seen him act in different roles. After watching it, I regret not watching this sooner and it is also what led me to write this review.

Chen Xing Xu acts as Qian Zheng a cold and strict person to himself and those around him. He has a very strict outlook on life and his own personal ideals. Which led him to success as a lawyer, as he is able to handle any case with a calm and steady mindset with only his clients claims in mind. On the other hand, our female lead Cheng Yao, a rookie lawyer, got into his law firm through some back door and perceives life in a more gentle and naive sense, which led to much conflict. Throughout the story, we see both of them grow their careers and how they both influence each other. They mostly handle family disputes (divorces, inheritances, etc.) so you will rarely see them in court, since cases like these are settled out of court.

I love the story a lot, it is very realistic and there’s no sugarcoating when the FL makes mistakes. While she does get few chances, she learns from it and improves. We see her shape as a lawyer and as an independent woman and it is amazing to see.

Though watching her get many chances and knight in shining armor brings you back to the fact that this is a drama. It infuriates some people who knows if they commit any of the mistakes she was committing, they would have been fired instantly and pushed to face the blame, so that no harm will come to the law firm. I like the fact that it was mentioned as an option, and common practice to do this. So watching the first half of the show was a bit frustrating watching her so naive. While she does get saved by the ML, we see her standing up for herself towards the end. The last couple of episodes was her showcasing her growth, while she has studied under ML, she took what she learned applied her own ideas into the way she handle cases. She didn’t let go of her gentleness, but used what she learned from her mistakes to prevent any mishaps in happening and she aims for clients interests. Not just what client specified which is the ML way to go, but consideration for the overall outcome and with both sides interests in mind.

Overall I will rewatch this, when I run out of stuff to watch. It’s a sweet drama and watch ML treat FL throughout the series was SO SWEET. The best part are the supports, they got me cackling at their jokes and FL co workers way in treating each other was just so heartwarming. Both ML and FL are flawed, they have problems, but are willing to listen to each other and learn. We see them grow as persons and by the end of the story, we see ML learning from FL. Showing how much FL as grown from being told off on what she should do to backing up her input with solid evidence.

FLAWLESS!!

Everything about the drama is so on point!

Chen Xing Xu.... You gained a fan here!!! Soooo damn handsome with flawless acting skills. I watched him in The starry Love first and then immediately jumped in to this drama expecting the usual boring office drama but this one literally proved me wrong and was par excellence for sure.

I wish they had cast Landy Li as FL though there are no flaws in this FL!

Just overwhelmed with this drama...

The story line is so intriguing that you won't be able to control your smile until your cheeks will hurt... All the other cast members have done their job on point!

Bao Rui was the real star in this drama

I liked the cast, songs and it was pretty cute and fun.

Everthing was fine besides the FL.... Unfortunatly Cheng Yao was kinda annoying most of the time and without a reason.

I hope to see Chen XingXu in another dramas in future, because his acting was too good here.

Finally, Bao Rui was the real star in this drama. He made us laugh in every episode, also the rest of the staff were so funny.

Fluffy Office Romance

Ep 1-30 - enjoyed it more than I expected

Ep 31-35 - unnecessary episodes (lost its momentum, I practically fast forward the last three episodes just getting the whole gist of what happened so I could finish it)

Storyline (boss-employee & housemate romance) - cliche but done well except on the last 5 episodes. The chemistry between the two characters is great.

Family law concept - the cases in this drama compared to other law dramas I watched are just so-so. They failed on this concept.

Female lead - I don't get how the FL was cheated by the ML with all those "housemate rules" or double rental issue when she is a lawyer herself. Some of his demands, which the FL readily followed, are ridiculous. Her character development is also not that solid.

Male Lead - character development is better than FL, from being an a-hole boss to best boyfriend. The best ML in all dramas in deflecting the advances of other woman. Hello if only he exists in real life!

The three assistant lawyers are the best. I love them! I feel like their characters have more depth than the FL and ML. They help make the story more enjoyable. The scene when they know that the fl and ml are in relationship is so funny. Their expressions are so spot on!

Overall, it was one of those dramas that started out surprising so well "omg this is good" until it feels dragging there is a good chance you'll likely drop it.

A nice rom-com with strong msg that every girl needs to watch

This show tackles various complex themes through divorce cases, spotlighting issues that impact women, such as self-respect, career struggles, single motherhood, alimony, and child support. The plot delves into how women are often treated as "options" throughout different life stages: wives and daughters are abandoned for younger mistresses, granddaughters are overshadowed by potential grandsons, and girlfriends are deceived financially for selfish gains. The narrative doesn’t shy away from hard-hitting issues—like a woman being unfairly shamed after a pregnancy resulting from assault, or a talented, successful woman being harassed by her insecure husband, who can’t handle her achievements.

Story Overview:

The show is a feel-good office rom-com centered around a law firm founded by two best friends. Our main male lead (ML) struggles with insomnia, while the parallel male lead (PML) is rekindling his old flame after her recent divorce. The plot flows at a comfortable pace—not too fast, not too slow—and mixes in plenty of comedy with well-matched chemistry between the leads.

Along the way, the insomniac ML finds that his cure just might be the company of the female lead (FL). Meanwhile, the FL’s elder sister happens to be the high school crush of our PML.

Casyt is amazing..there are so many actors and all of them were extremely good.
the Actor playing ML is good looking but his acting is what caught my attention, I have seen very less actors who can hold one expression for so long ..wow .. moreover his contrast between tyrant boss and timid bf was amazing. I genuinely loved his performance.

The actress playing FL is so cute ..her pleasant, cheerful and not very sexy appearance is very apt for this role .. her acting was good as well. other female characters parallel female lead, the vamp and office bestie were also good.. especially the office bestie, she is gorgeous. The ML's mom was love.

The ending was not up my taste .. I didn't like the idea that ML was waiting for like atleast 7 years just to get married ( judging by the kid age) .. I believe in women empowerment but not like this .. he supports him so much getting married wouldnt have hurt her career as for matter there is no such prejudice in law field

Overall a good drama worth watching

Everyday CEO romance

7.75!!!!!!!

It's actually really good, it's just not as good as some other cdramas.

The beginning can be a bit difficult, because it's your everyday cold ceo archetype.

But, soon enough, it gets quite funny and cute. The cold lawyer becomes more emotional and nice (because dude needs a character arc). Like, his personality took an 180 degree change. The best analogy I can think of is that the pampered, bad tempered dog morphed into a clingy puppy. 🤣🤣🤣

The fl is also very admirable. Her motivations and fears were made really clear.

There were some aspects that were plain weird, but like, but overlook them and enjoy the drama!

btw, the ending was really, really nice. The fl is super great in this regard. You'll see! 😉

The boss is amazing, but she?.. not so much

So… the story was ok. Entertaining, cute… but very long.
Yes, this could have been easy 24 episodes, why 36? No idea…

ML is great…. As angry boss is scary, as lovey dovey is adorable, this is a good niche for him, as cold, arrogant aloof guy. Very expressive and he did convince me in every scene all the emotions and confusion he had.

He was simply a man with 0 emotional intelligence, used to have everybody at his command… inc FL.

FL on the other hand… started super childish.. from the way she behaved, her clothes, her speech.. everything. Her only positive trait, being relatively smart. But for more than 20+ episodes, she gets pushed by ML in all sort of ways, many unacceptable.
Finally she grows a backbone and kind of stands for herself… still sorry, her acting did not convince me.
Whoever says she is empowered, is lying.

When she was supposed to have a crush kn him… come on, not a single love look or anything.

He is a man… in his 30s.. she looks out of high school, barely 20s. Whats up with always wearing socks like in school? She is a lawyer!
So, chemistry was very low. From his side I do believe it, but she was like a wooden stick. Even in moments separated, was she supposed to miss him? I don’t know.
Also… forget about passion between these 2… nothing happened, even living together, which js not realistic in this era.. and for such a guy, sorry but this was a miss.

Friends and 2nd couple are good supporting the story. Add a lot of fun and make it a comedy.
His parents are hilarious also.

Overall, I rated it a 7.5 because it was entertaining, but so slow and no chemistry, it’s a shame but ML is really good.
Would I watch it again? Nope… although I am a fan of ML.

Typical office romance trope but well delivered!

I have watched plenty of (office romance) dramas in the past few years so I had high expectations...and boy, it did not disappoint! Youtube simply suggested one of the episodes and it got me curious. After watching its trailer, I decided to give it a go. The lead actors were definitely good looking but their chemistry and portrayal made me beg for more. I checked out some of their other (separate) projects as a point of reference and I can conclude that this is one of their better dramas. It's funny that they acknowledged outright that the situations they were in were ridiculously drama-like! There were some cheesy lines but there were more comical banters and sweet dialogues. The gradual progression of the leads' relationship was well paced in my view. The character developments/changes are acceptable but subtle refinement won't hurt. I do not condone maltreatment in reality but it can give "spice" to dramas.

Cute Romantic Comedy with a Good Cast Ensemble

This is a cute light-hearted romantic comedy with a great ensemble cast where the support characters really shined. Yes, a bit cliche tropey storyline with the alpha male boss who falls in love with his newbie female assistant/colleague. But I can overlook that and just watch this at face value as a cute romantic comedy.

Pros:
- Adorable main couple, great chemistry. ML and FL did a great job. This the first role I've seen the ML (Chen Xing Xu) since the fan favorite Goodbye My Princess. The FL is a new actress that can really play the adorable, charismatic role. But she still lacks complex/emotional depth - but that's not really required for this light-hearted drama.
- The pacing was good, not draggy at all - for once I did not skip thru much.
- A realistic modern script without a bunch of over the top ridiculous scenes/plot lines that make your blood boil. There is the typical unrequited love that makes someone do unethical things to damage their love-rival's reputation - but this drama addresses this quickly and serves up justice, rather than letting it be the main plot for the whole series.
- The support characters were so good. This is one of the very very few dramas (modern or costume) that I actually enjoyed watching the support characters on screen. None of them were annoying, over-the-top, or boring scree-fillers. The character Bao Rui was my favorite, he had such subtle comedic timing, he actually made me laugh out loud.

Cons:
- The entire series was so good, but the last 2-3 episodes just seemed to lose steam, and the last episode was rather lackluster. I would've given this series a 10, but took 1 pt off for this reason.

Re-watch: I'd likely rewatch this.
