Seriously?

After " Where your eyes linger" and "To the stars" and some other Korean BL - how could they produce such a blah, doesn't make any sense, lackluster series? even the actors gave up in the middle...A tiny bit better than "Bite me" but as disappointing...come on! Cute actors, but mostly wooden performance...if you are uncomfortable with BL, just don't accept the role...as simple as that. As to the screen writing and directing - try harder, much harder...the BL community watches, expect way more and became more sophisticated than 13 years old...

Third food theme BL completed for the year 2021

I am now getting the chance to write a review. I did finish this series on November 11. However, I am now only finding thw time today to give my review. So, let's go!

Story-7.5/10

So, this is the third BL that I have watched this year with the 'theme' of cooking attached to it. And what can I say? It was not perfect and I did enjoy most of the episodes. But those last two episodes...yikes! They totally ruined this story for me. I mean, everything was wrapped up so easy. I guess that I personally wouldn't just forgive someone if they screwed me over the way that Choi Jung Woo screwed over Yoon Do Gun. Also, Choi Jung Woo doesn't explain himself to Yoon Do Gun on why he did what he did. But yet, everything is forgiven at the end of the series. And what's with that 3 month gap? They just stop seeing each other with no phone calls or nothing going on between them and then out of the blue- Yoon Do Gun just calls up Choi Jung Woo and they met up?!

And what was the point of Laura, the owner? She made no sense in this series. First- you want Yoon Do Gun to change and then ou just basically faked the judging competition because you wanted Choi Jung Woo to be the head chef. But then tell Yoon Do Gun that what he cooked was the best you ever tasted and thwn want him to remain. But not as head chef. Like...no. And because of those two horrible episodes, I give the story a 7.5.

Acting/Cast-7.5/10
I honestly like thier acting. I mean at least the main cast. Coi Jung Woo's character did what he was suppose to do for me at least. He was a good looking annoying dick who somehow won the heart of Yoon Do Gun. And I liked how the actor portrayed Yoon Do Gun as well. I actually feel that the secondary couples brought nothing for me. So, for that, I will give a 7.5.

Music-6/10
The music really did not resonate with me as it really, personally to me, is not that memorable l. So for this I give a 6.

Rewatch Valu-5/10
Because of that very disappointing last two episodes, I am not in that big of a hurry to rewatch this series. It was goodish- but not that good to l return to watch it eagerly. So for that, I give it a 5.

Overall-6.5/10
I honestly thought that I would have given this a higher mark as I have stated I actually enoyed 6 out of 8 episodes. But I guess those two last episodes totally ruined this series for me.

Too short for real developement

I never say no to a "haters to lovers", also this drama is from the director of "You make me dance" that I enjoyed, and I was familiar with Eui Soo Jang. from "Where your eyes linger". So I decided to give at watch.
The premise was simple but promising, also I love cooking so I really enjoyed the food element, but with these drama I really felt that everything was rushed, the chemistry between them there but the writing didn't help.
It was a cute series, it just didn't feel like it had the heart that others similar shows had.
As always these korean web shows on Viki are too short, they simply don't have time to develop the story and the characters. Maybe with a bit more time this could have been a more remarkable drama.

Nothing that is particularly stand-out

I don’t know if it’s just because the series had to be crammed into 8 episodes, but My Sweet Dear seemed to have gaps in its storytelling with things that went unexplained or unaccounted for.

The couple have a decent chemistry and you can expect the typical personality pairing that seems to work well in many BLs – one being extremely outgoing and amiable while the other is aloof and somewhat hostile (think To My Star, or Mark/Kit in Gen Y).

This series also sees some pretty cute and unexpected moments but nothing that is particularly stand-out, unfortunately.

If you don’t take plot development so seriously, this show is easy to stomach. Pun intended.

As simple as Tasty Florida was, I didn't expect this series to be so much simpler, I can even say it's pretty raw for (we called) a series.

The absence of chemistry between the main characters and the emptiness of the story makes this series difficult to be fond of. The lack of explanation of everything made a lot of question marks in my brain until this series ended.

When it comes to acting, there can be no doubt that Jesoo is the great actor.. From the first time I fell in love with hime since last year, his acting has never been the least bit doubtful for me. But unfortunately, his character in the series does not process his performance to be perfect like his other series.

Warning: little spoil

I was hoping that they don't end up together, even id there was having regret or sadness, it was so dirty and so easy to forgive. It's make me feel so sad that they end up together, if i was me i would already forgive about my partner. It was a good show but with a sad ending it would be perfect at my eyes. It can be the boss fault but it's still so cliché to forgive so easily i regret to watch all the last episode. Well it's my opinion but it was a good show even if it was a little cliché. The acting was good , the ost was also good , the plot was very cliché

Cullinary Skills ...

So I started this after watching "Bite Me" hoping for a bit more than what I got from that, and well I cannot say that I was disappointed, was it better nope!!

If I had to compare the food in the previous watched drama was better looking compared to the simply dish in this drama protrayed.

This drama seemed to lacked flow and story line and you kind of had to think of what were their motivations? Why do they do what they do? Why is Jung Woo working with Laura? What is his goal? Why is Do Gun so into keeping true to the basics and so against the innovations and new ideas? Why is he obsessed with working at Laura Dining? What is Laura’s deal? They did not explain anything. Literally not one thing. Who is Jung Woo anyway?

Also the characters did not seem to have any chemistry between them, you get to see the whole apron pull in the first episode and boom we in love, no questions asked, they he find out he lied and his boss betrayed him and he seems to be okay with that like how is that even possible?

There is a lot of room for improvement with this drama -
- the nonsensical plot: why wouldn't the boss just fire the chef and hire the new one?
- choppiness: scenes would just leap from one thing to another,
- the ending, they didn't talk/date for 3 months, what??? The parallel was nice but we all know they should have kissed at the very end.

Overall - Nothing good nothing bad about it, but definately improvements needed to make it great.

More fast food than gourmet meal

This one is tough. In one hand I like the cast and I feel like the main couple had good chemistry. But I don’t feel like the story is all that interesting and I’m a bit disappointed by the ending. I’m happy that Chef Yoon remained true to himself, didn’t completely change and decided to finally follow his dream of opening a restaurant by the beach. The soundtrack was a highlight of the show.

I find it interesting that Do Gun knows that the result was rigged, since Laura told him that his dish was the best she’s ever had, but he didn’t say anything to Jung Woo. So, Jung Woo just saw, from afar the handshake, and might be living the lie that he won fair and square. That aspect also brings me to my main issue with the series, the ending. More specifically, the fact that Laura has an happy ending. She totally deserved to have the entire staff leave and she end up having to close the restaurant. But in the end she got the trendy and successful restaurant that she ever wanted.

About Average

Yet again, another Korean BL that is just too damn short! This is all pretty much exactly how I expected it would be but in a good way. The story was a little bland but not necessarily basic. Visuals were pretty satisfying. Several times I wanted to slap Do Gun with his smug smart a** self but I'll let it slide for some cute moments that blossomed lol It had some pretty fluffy cute moments and I'd recommend to a newbie BL fan in a heart beat. Nothing really to complain about, just needed more. Honestly, based on the plot I'm not sure much could've been added without watering it all down.
Enjoy...

A slow cooking relationship

As always it didnt disappoint i like the story line as Do Gun is the Head chef, but in disputes with the owner Laura about the menu. She brings in Jung Woo to stir things up, but instead heats up new emotions in/out of the kitchen. They end up having to challenges each other for the Chef position inwhich a lie could break them apart or make them stronger. I loved the combination of food within there private time for an 8 ep 2hr in total never was i board or felt it rushed. The 2 ML had a great chemistry between them I felt it gave a different spin on the build up to a graceful relationship just like slow cooking (lol) The entire cast did a great job and the beach location was beautiful. I think because of covid alot of different drama are having an issue with kissing scenes as most are just pecks on the lips which can distort the romantic setting. Just like here there was only 1 kissing scene , but i still felt there connection and some BL are more bromances. Everyone has there own taste/spin of what they are expecting nowadays- i expect less but still want the feeling.

please do not waste your time

The storyline makes zero sense.

This guy shows up and he's supposed to be a super trendy chef coming in to take the position of the ML, but the only thing he does thats supposed to be 'unique' and 'different' is add colorful ingredients to his dishes and carry a rumor that he steals other people's recipe?

Let's not even begin on how the conflict made no sense. Apparently he was an actor, but he can actually cook? Like what?

Finally, the ML gets pissed and leaves (as he should) only to say "if you get acknowledged I'll forgive you", even though the viewers, the main judge, and the characters KNEW it was rigged from the beginning? and it was even stated so?????? Which somebody explain to me how there were two other judges, and we didn't even get to see their results, nor did it make sense how only 1 judges votes mattered.

Finally, I'm glad that the ML ended up getting what he always wanted in the end, but honestly it seemed like a cheap ass copout so that it would seem more believable that A) he was okay with being fired from the position he literally began with as an opener of the restaurant, and B) him and his love interest were able to end up together happily.

Overall, this show has one of the most garbage story plots I've seen in a minute. Oh and don't even get me started on that annoying ass song they played throughout the whole show. Please, have some diversity in the OST next time.

Good Series

Excellent story excellent acting! My only complaint would be is that it is just way to short. Korean BL dramas are mostly all too short the story line is good, but always seem too rushed and therefore a lot of important parts of a story are left out. Once again the actors are excellent the storyline is excellent they just should’ve spent more time elaborating the story and the actors relationship. Even the part where the owner came in that part of the story didn’t really make any sense because there was no background to explain that whole situation. All in all very enjoyable just needs more time to get the complete story across!
