Child actress is a revelation, rest goes downhill fast.

Started off well but became too clumsy in the second half.

They really overplayed the intensity of some dramatic scenes. It's hard to explain but it's like they tried to portray some events happening to the characters as PTSD-inducing, or just really affecting them in a major way, but… they weren't all that intense to begin with. Made them miserable but it's just blown out of proportion, and it happens more than once. Just took me out of the story.

Choi Soo-young did a great job, but it's the child actress who was astounding. The fact that this thing works overall and has any weight (emotional or otherwise) whatsoever fully rests upon her shoulders.

this is one of the cutest drama I've ever watch
too bad it's way too short
some of the parts were rushed
I just dumbfounded with how Han Kang Hee and Gu Hye Ri feud were handled like that
and so was Han Kang Hee with her mother and that annoying reporter
I really love Sooyoung and Yoon Park chemistry, wish they could get another longer drama together
also Kang Hee, Hoon, and Ah Young dynamic, wish it could be explored more
and the kids in the hospital whom always on Yu Na's side ?
I really wish this drama was an 8 episodes drama instead of 4

Absolutely perfect

ya know, this is my first review and I've watched well over 2k hours of kdramas, but this one needs a review
This is probably the best one I've watched, it was super cute, lighthearted, emotional, it was so well done, I wish it had more than 4 episodes but it ended perfectly as well.
I'd recommend this to anyone, over and over again, I'm definitely going to be watching this again myself
every single actor and actress in here played their part perfectly, the synergy was amazing with everyone, and it felt real

Short and basic

I tend to get excited when I come across a show with fewer episodes, as so many of the dramas have an inordinate amount of filler. Unfortunately, for me, this one was only able to scratch the surface of the characters and their personalities. The relationship between the father and daughter was very sweet, but the romance between the main couple was very lacking. The anxiety issues of the female lead moved along at a very quick rate, from being crippling to being totally fine, without really working through the issue completely, because of time constraints.

I enjoyed watching both of the actors, but I just wish the story had time to develop their relationship better.

A great letter in return

If you are in a drama slump or someone who enjoys mini series, then this is the watch for you. Because there are only four episodes, you may wish this series was longer or that there is more romance (which I wouldn't mind either) but, for the most part, I am okay with the series as is .

When we first meet Kang Hee, she may appear a little cold or uncaring but that impression will quickly vanish as we see her deal with the hate & stress that comes with being a top celebrity like her. As the synopsis says, the hate is part of the reason why she doesn't read or respond to fanletters. I won't spoil what happened but there is a specific incident when she was younger which influenced her up until her even more successful adult years. You can't help but to feel bad for her as it seems like she can't catch a break when it comes to things going wrong. (That's one of the reasons why I'm okay with this being a mini series - because I wouldn't like to see her continue to deal with issue after issue for more episodes.) However, even though she faced difficult situations, she kept her head high & stuck to her beliefs. It was refreshing to watch.

Because of Kang Hee's beliefs, she hesitates when Jung Seok, the ML & her first love, approaches her with the idea to pretend as if she really was the one who wrote back to his daughter, who is sick & her number one fan. In the end, she agrees & starts to become closer to him & his daughter. Jung Seok is a hard working & dedicated father so it's easy to like him. It's sweet to see him & Kang Hee rekindle their friendship & like. Yes, like most viewers I would've loved to see more of them as an actual couple but the focus of this story is more on each of them as individuals than anything else. & I don't think viewers will be disappointed by each of the leads' own stories either.

Like most celebrity dramas do, this also has an annoying paparazzi following her around to bring her down. There's also another jealous celeb & toxic parent creating drama. If this story was a full length drama, then those issues & characters would've played an even bigger role in the story than they did. So, while problems were resolved easier than maybe some viewers think, it is still satisfactory. Aside from wanting more episodes or depth, I don't think there is much a viewer can complain about. (5 is my standard rating for music when I don't remember it after finishing a drama but knowing it wasn't bad while I watched it.) I would recommend it, especially if you're looking for something easy & light to watch.

Beautiful

This story although short was a beautifully, well told love story. High school sweethearts (on their own - individually) come together later in life with their own stories of pain and heartache through the dream of one gorgeous little girl. She was so adorable and brilliant at her role. The two Leads and the girl were all brilliant in this drama.
Loved the wonderful way these two leads worked together to make this drama a wonderful story. The cast were magnificent and although short, the director did an amazing job at bringing this story to life.
The chemistry between the two leads was so good and although I’m not a huge fan of ML Yoon Park, I loved him in this story. FL Choi Soo Young never disappoints. Love love love her. ♥️

First Love to Forever

Fanletter, Please (2022)

Likes
1. I expected this to be a romcom but this turned out to be a melodrama. First 2 episodes were light, and sweet, second half was more serious. The story is simple, nothing new, but it worked because of the 2 leads and the cute kids.
2. Being a celebrity is really tough. You just get too many haters and people can easily ruin your reputation with a lie. But it's worse if the lies are coming from classmates and friends. I like Kanghee, i wish she had more friends who can defend her.
3. I also like Jungseok. Hope there's a way he can go back to being a lawyer although i understand his kid's welfare is more important to him.
4. I liked the first love trope and the leads meeting again still liking each other after all these years. And how they support each other.

Dislikes
Some might feel that the overall mood of the drama is gloomy and might find this boring, but I didn't because it was tightly written and was only for 4 episodes.

Rating: 8.5

watched weekly as it came out

for only 4 eps, this drama did a good job on telling the storylines and didn't have too many characters which i liked. the story on how the ML struggled much in her career says a lot on how it really is in the real world and sooyoung did an incredible job. overall nice and cliche (liked it in fact) the main couple is really cute too! never felt too rushed so it felt good as a mini series instead of more eps as people said but i feel like it makes it easier to people to watch-----------------------

4eps drama... short, funny, romantic, cute, little of fairy-tale ...binge it

Fanletter, Please (2022) - 8,5/10 -short kdrama

4eps drama... short, funny, romantic, cute, little of fairy-tale

In my opinions its second best drama of Choi Soo Young right after Run On.

plot - ML is single father with very sick kid. His kid is big fan of FL which is well known actress and she often writes fanleters to her.. ML once as white lie writes back to his child in name of FL, but kids cant keep their mouth shut and whole thing gets to media alerting FL. Weirdly FL and ML are old highschool classmates with complicated past too.

genre - romance, comedy

The only flaw: it should have lasted at least 6 or 8 episodes

Of course, if it had lasted 16 episodes, it would have been even better

The drama is very nice and all the actors perform exceptionally well. It's a shame that the story has all the potential to be told in more episodes; it's not one of those stories with a poor pretext that fades away quickly. If the drama had been longer, the viewers would have liked it more, and the characters' stories would have been told with more engagement and maturity.

Another problem resulting from the too short length is the lack of a suitable soundtrack. There is only some music and sounds to comment on the important moments, but a full musical accompaniment is missing.

A special mention goes to... one of the fluffiest reconciliation gifts I've ever seen in a dramas, in episode 4. Very sweet and thoughtful.

, in particular the actors are all very good. It's a shame that the story had all the characteristics to be told with more episodes, it's not one of those stories that has a weak initial pretext that runs out easily. If it had lasted longer, the viewers would have enjoyed it more and the characters' stories would have been told with more involvement and maturity.

Because of the excessively short length comes another small flaw, namely the lack of a proper soundtrack. There are only some music and sounds to comment on the main moments but a complete musical accompaniment is missing.

A special mention goes to... one of the fluffiest reconciliation gifts I have seen in dramas, in episode 4. Very sweet and full of meaning.

An absolutely heartwarming piece of work

This is a flawless piece of work, and I have enjoyed watching every single second of this show. It has a well developed story with great actors doing justice to their roles. As a Soo Young fangirl, I was so happy to see her act out the role so beautifully.

The story is nice and does not have any never ending tropes or plot holes. Being a short drama, nothing is too stretched out and every minute feels necessary instead of fillers. You won't have to skip to watch a beautiful story between our two leads and the cute child! I also liked the wonderful role the old friend from school plays. Took me two seconds to recognise her though. :P

My only complaint is that because it was only 4 episodes, the last episode (specially the second half) felt quite rushed to me. It could've had 1-2 more episodes. I totally wouldn't mind seeing this adorable couple for another episode. The entire US and return happened so fast that you just don't process much while watching. None the less, a happy and beautiful end for our characters, so, I'm happy. :)
