Loved the drama!
I really enjoyed the drama. It was definitely worth the watch. I really enjoy fantasy and Romcoms.I loved how the romance between the main leads developed, it was slow and nice. I am glad it had a happy ending. The story might feel unoriginal to some people but I really liked it. I was really sad when I finished the drama.
It was very funny to see Rembrary become an idol. The acting was very good. You could feel I confused and clueless he was. I found all the characters quite memorable. The female lead did a great job too. The romance was cute!
I usually don't like slow dramas but this one seemed to work for me quite well. The romance was slow but I feel it was developed meaningfully.
All the members of the wild animals did a great job. Each of them was portrayed with their own problems and how slowly they and their relationships developed.
There wasn't much of any big plot twist or revelation. But it was still engaging to see how the story unfolded.
It was definitely not perfect. I do feel, while the entire drama was slow, too much information was dumped in the last 2 episodes. The last episode could have been structured better for the audience to understand better and enjoy it. I feel quite some things were left unclear as to how they worked out. Overall, it was a good drama but could have been much better.
I binged watched it in one go and I definitely feel it was worth it. I would like to rewatch it!

Low-Budget Poorly written drama
I was anticipating for this drama since it was announced. First because of kim min gyu, secondly, I liked the plot. I like this kind of fantasy rom-coms. However, this drama was far away from expectations and felt like a poorly written low-budget drama. The plot had potential but they totally ruined it with low-budget CGI and poorly written dialogues, messy storyline. Everything was bad expect the actors. I feel the only good thing they did was to get kim min gyu as the main lead because many people turned in to watch because of him only. However, I feel that the characters were written so poorly that I could barely like anything about this show. The romance part was so unnecessary as there was zero chemistry between the leads. The love line felt so forced. Started good, but it became messy with evil, rendrin, her majesty and what not. There were so many unnecessary characters which has no use to the storyline. To end this drama, they rushed the last few episodes. In the end you get to see that even WYW was not the same WYW. Lol. What is wrong with this story?
For other watchers, if you came here because of it's interesting plot, i would suggest you to skip this because it gets only worse by time. I completed it because I liked the interaction of WYW with his group member and watched the whole show by skipping other annoying parts and watched the main ones. I hope to see KMG in another good drama because this drama totally ruined the hype that business proposal created for me.

Scenarist problem
It has a very good start. In the beginning story and acting are interesting and funny. But after 8 episodes I don't know why I watch this drama. All episodes are funny but, in the end I think the scenarists also don't know what they are writing. They take out characters easily and add a new character with no story behind them. Bad characters can't show their bad side or they don't have any character improvement. Everyone has power but doesn't use it very well.I really like the young cast. Thank them I finish this drama. Their character improvement is good. I am sad for them because the scenarists don't give chance to them.

it is funny dumb, ykwim right?
okay to be brutally honest, i started this drama because of Kim Min Gue (of course) and Go Bo Gyeol (i first thought it was Kim Tae Ri and i was so shocked. when i realised Go wasn't her but in fact she played the step-sister of Park So Dam in Cinderella and The Four Knights, i flipped!!!!!)the start was so good- the comedy, the chemistry, the bickering and even the confusion. i enjoyed it until at one point i started fast forwarding everything (expect the comic scenes and the romance). somewhere it started feeling a little dumb, but so what we are here to escape reality after all. overall, it was a good watch but the ending was so rushed. what was best and unique about this was that this drama showed the chemistry between the leads' feet- the fact that in the end Rambrary would feel a sense of deja vu seeing Kim Dal's swinging on her feet was so cute. what i couldn't understand is why Kim Dal was ever ready to sacrifice herself for others. i understand her trauma but somewhere along the line she became a bit frustrating. Rambrary seemed like an idiot because he was easily swayed by everyone and anyone, a character who believes anything anyone says without better judgement; it wasn't until the very last episode where he realizes that he was played for a fool. he became more frustrating than the FL. at one point i even started shipping Kim Dal with Gam Jae (the grim reaper), and who didn't? i literally saw sparks flying between them (,,,^_^,,,). in fact Gam Jae was so *chef's kiss*. the way he was always shocked with Dal and her intelligence and even asked her to be a grim reaper was so good and so hilarious. i was disappointed because they didn't show the bonding of the band members with Rambrary when he revealed his identity. and what else when disclosed that the real Woo Yeon was in fact never existed and was an imposter, my brain just refused to accept it.
again, the ending was very very rushed. it would have been good had there been at least 2 more episodes. it would have been better if they had shown the Rambrary as himself and the band mates and their build up. what else i wish they have given a little more effort when they reunited the leads. i wanted a proper reunion not a one as rushed as this.
the drama is a light watch. 'give it a go to relive stress' kind of drama. dumb but funny and gives jitters a little here and there. personally. i think it isn't for a rewatch. so, for those wanted to rewatch, don't. because if you do you would be doing any one of the two: either (a)you will start being critical of everything in it or (b) you just skip to the parts that give you the laughs.

Weirdly...it delivered on pretty much exactly what it promised
Listen, if you're tuning into a drama called "The Heavenly Idol" with even the slightest awareness of its premise: manage your expectations.Everything about this drama was not overly ambitious -- a shaky budget drama with a repetitive episode formula, a fun spark of chemistry, and decently charming actors. I believe that everyone involved HAD to know that they were making a show that people could throw on after a long day of school or work and just not think too much about. It didn't make a whole lot of sense, but it was a novel idea and it tied things up pretty tightly in its ending.
While every single aspect of it could have been far better (music, portrayal of idols, fantasy lore, length, production value) its a fun drama to pass the time with.

Good one
Starting two-three episodes were comedy and the male actor's acting was cool . I liked the drama. Though the concept of story based on God's man but indirectly it also shown how the new pop band struggle among the stablish one . Moreover if one weak member among them. Good one . All other support actors were good . One more thing I like the drama when it entered new character to help male protagonist. I also liked the female lead and background music too. Except few things drama was perfect . Only villain part's story I think this part was needed improvisation. Was this review helpful to you?

Great Actors, interesting premise but it can’t decide what it wants to be
9/10 is my rating. This iis a 2023 South Korean fantasy romance drama with x, 70 minute episodes.
First I provide a synopsis then review.
Synopsis
Rembrary (Kim Min-kyu), is a high priest battling evil to keep the Devil from returning to power. Mid battle with the actual devil, he is transported from this alternate world to modern South Korea in the body of Woo Yoon-woo, a failed idol in the process of making a comeback. Yoon-woo aspired to be an actor but was debuted as the visual for boy band Wild Animals. Rembrary is completely confused by this sudden switch but quickly finds that the dark forces have also come to this world and are embedded in the music industry. Kim Dal (Go Bo-gyeol) was a former talent manager for a girl group and became extremely depressed and guilt ridden when one of the group members committed suicide. She feels beholden to Yoon-woo as he gave her hope during one of her darkest days. She follows the band closely and when she notices they are struggling she prizes the job of their manager determined to give them the professional and emotional support to avoid any more tragedy. At first she goes along with Yoon-woo’s “delusion” he is a high priest from another dimension and convinces him the best way to achieve his goals is to become a successful idol. And the thing is the real Yoon-woo has also been transported to Rembrary’s world but he doesn’t want to leave. Who wants to go back to being a failed idol with a non existent acting career? So the real Yoon-woo strikes a bargain. if Rembrary becomes a successful idol, and in a whisper voice, that Rembrary dldn’t hear, a successful actor, he will swap back with him. The situation makes for a very comedic setting, but also a slow build romance between the manager who is going crazy, trying to manage this delusional idol, and the high priest who doesn’t usually give in to worldly concerns.
Review
Overqll this is very good. The leads have a lot of chemistry and their relationship is believable. I love the idol genre because it is such a unique life choice so glimpses into it are always interesting. The relationship between the group members is compelling and getting to know a bit about each makes it interesting. Highly recommend to those that like romances and the idol genre. It ends happy.

The god aspect was a bit chaotic and did not make complete sense. I felt as frustrated as he did when it turned out that after decades of fighting evil, Redlin was selfish and evil Herself. With that it would have made sense if he was a true god but her having made him from a part of herself made less sense. In the end there is just no God or devil in that world? If she wasn’t a true God then what? There just never was? How did she come into being if there was no divine in that realm? That seemed like a big, important part of that world. He goes to Redlin to confront her and she tries to kill hIm and steal his divine powers but is stopped at the last second when Kim Dal essentially offers up her soul to destroy Redlin’s power. But then he goes back for seconds? That made no sense. The he is back as an idol and is just going to hang out? I mean he got a mission of rounding up the remaining evil elements but it didn’t show him pursuing that. I was disappointed we didn’t get to see “Wild Animal“ perform. They achieved success but we really did not get to go along for the ride much. It seemed more focused on his divine goals but that was so ill defined that being the greater focus was disappointing. Kim Min Kyu really just carried it because his acting and visuals made even the most chaotic plot points watchable. The Grim Reaper was confusing as he was supposed to be there to keep him from interfering in human lifelines but he winds up doing very little of that. He mostly seems to take the road manager thing seriously like okay I am not a reaper I am just doing this now, But then he is but then he isn’t. And how, even when their fame was growing, were they able to just go out without being recognized? They are popular enough to win an award but where are the groups of screaming fans every time they emerge? How many times are Min-kyu and Kim Dal going to walk out on a balcony and get all affectionate knowing there could be scandal. Just have your emotional moments inside. He would say he wanted to be a successful idol or actor and put a bunch of effort into it for a minute then be like never mind I am doing the divine thing now. Then the end, the God says Kim Dal will be punished because she won’t remember those she loved but there she us right there doing the same thing and it only takes her a brief direct encounter to remember. That made it feel rushed like there could have been at least one episode with her not remembering but things triggering her memory. I liked the premise just wish it was written in a more logical manner.

Started interesting but then
it fell off. After the FL is attacked in episode 5 everything started going wrong. I was excited for this because at the time I was also watching Kokdu and I kinda wanted something similar to watched at the time. Although funny and the cast doing the best. The story was meh. I was so bored after episode 7 where nothing happens. I started not to care about the characters and it was a drag to finish to be honest, esp when I was watching way better things.I guess the friendships and the cast is what sorta made this watchable in the end. There's very little romance aside from moments here and there. If you want to watch a comedy with a good ML then I suggest weatching this. Other than that I can't recommend it much more than that.
over all 6.0

I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS DRAMA
ok. i literally started watching bc of kim mingue/rembrary (the main character) who’s also in business proposal and then i found park sangnam (the grim reaper) and hes so fine like i started watching other dramas w him in it. BUT ANYWAYS i actually do not like fantasy and unrealistic writings/dramas but this one is so good. it’s not repeats of fight scenes or the same old story line like you would expect. i like the variety of characters with all different storylines and character development. i also like how the characters arent super dumb and dont believe just anything the main character says. the actors really convey the characters well. the music is so top tier that i literally repeat it all day off youtube on loop. it lowkey pulls me in sm that i think it could happen irl… but yea def watch it!Was this review helpful to you?

fun premise, weak execution
The Heavenly Idol has a fun premise and talented cast but suffers from weak execution.A drama about a priest from another realm swapping places with a kpop idol? The concept is pure fun and The Heavenly Idol is at its best when Rembrary is a fish out of water adjusting to idol life.
Sadly, The Heavenly Idol never manages to find a good balance between the idol and fantasy storylines resulting in disjointed worldbuilding, plotholes, and underdeveloped characters.
All in all, an unsatisfying watch despite the charming leads and fun set-up.
