No special drama
The drama did not blow me away.Little chemistry between the main characters and I didn't love the acting either...
I also found the story a bit superficial and without plot twist.
I think 8 episodes was enough, If there had been more I probably would not have concluded it.
Nothing special.

Same cliche trope again and again with nothing new
So ML liked FL who liked SML. He ended up with an unrequited love and she ended up dating SML but had a painful breakup and now years later they all meet again.Have seen this plot plenty of times in many Chinese and Korean dramas before.
FL is still hurt over breakup, SML will try to get back with her, ML will try to be with her and help her get over SML. In the end ML/FL will end up together..........End of Story
No wonder this drama has only 8 eps and will be over in 4 weeks since there is nothing much to add to it. Other than 1 or 2 moments where things go different than expected, overall it is simply mid.
The only things saving this drama is the cute chemistry between leads otherwise it is generic.
( Kim So Hyun needs to choose better scripts and not the same cliche trope again and again)

A Kashmir Embrace
This drama is just so fluffy and soft, listening to the OST is like being embraced by a kashmir sweater, sweet clouds made out of cotton candy that is not sticky, 999 puppies that run up to you.....The drama itself is pretty fluffy too the first 7 episode sor so with very few moments of drama and excitement , it is as if they left all the drama to the last episode just to remind us that this is indeed a K-drama just incase we forget with all that sweet fluff.
The friendships are nice, the second hand embarrassment and annoying elements are very few and I do believe tehy mange to tell the whole story within these 8 episodes pretty well.
An easy binge for those in need of fluff.

Just another love story
I have been anticipating this drama because of the main leads as probably everyone else, but even though I love Jong Hyeop, I don't have many hopes for this show. Surely there's only one ep out, but by the looks of it, there won't be much going on beyond the ML pursuing the FL (read: pushing himself through her life) who has a complicated relationship with the SML until she realizes her feelings for the ML.There wasn't anything impressive in this episode, not even the interactions between the leads, and definitely nothing that set the drama for an interesting plot. Also, this drama solidified my hatred for this very common kdrama trope of the ML taking care of an embarrassingly wasted FL. At least LHJ wasn't that badly drunk, but it really does annoy me when the FL gets drunk around a sober ML and makes a fool of herself with her tipsy walking and blabbering. It's especially annoying when this happens in the very first episode already, but I regress.
Good thing the drama will only have 8 episodes because I can already tell by the pace of this episode that the whole plot will just be the romance with nothing else relevant going on.
I'm still going to stick around though, and the leads at least will make it worth watching it since they do already have great chemistry and I love my boy Jong Hyeop, but I'm already kind of let down and can only hope it will get better and not stay as just another (plain) love story.

Repetitive plot
As a director, when you set out to make a new movie, you should have something fresh to offer. You wouldn't want to spend money and resources on something that isn't original. After watching three episodes, my initial thoughts were confirmed: the story is very simple and repetitive. Why couldn't the writer be a little more creative? And for those who say,"Go watch something else",you can go watch old movies. We invest our time to watch and review a movie, which means our feedback isn't baseless.

Short but worth it ?
The story of young people who meet their first love after 10 years by chance and go on to find true love and dreams"Serendipity's Embrace" is adapted from a beloved webtoon and weaves a heartwarming tale of love, second chances, and the pursuit of dreams. The story centers around a group of young adults whose lives are turned upside down by a surprise encounter with a past flame from a decade ago. As they navigate this unexpected twist of fate, they rediscover love and reawaken old dreams that had long been forgotten.
Kim So Hyun stars as Lee Hong Joo, an animation producer who has been deeply scarred by a past breakup. Her life, once carefully managed, is thrown into disarray when she unexpectedly meets Kang Hoo Young, an ex-boyfriend who witnessed her struggles during their previous relationship. This chance meeting forces Hong Joo to confront her past and embrace new possibilities in her life.
Opposite Kim So Hyun, Chae Jong Hyeop plays Kang Hoo Young, a successful financial planner based in the U.S. Despite his professional achievements, Hoo Young feels a void in his life that he cannot seem to fill. His unexpected reunion with Hong Joo stirs up old emotions and compels him to reconsider the choices he has made, leading him on a journey of self-discovery and renewed hope.
The chemistry between Kim So Hyun and Chae Jong Hyeop has been a significant draw for viewers, with their portrayals of deeply complex characters resonating strongly with
the audience.
But story it's too short I think there is something Missing in the drama.
GOOD BUT SHORT

This was boring, but it wasn't bad.
I thought this was going to be good. I always believed that K-dramas that are only focused on romance should be ten episodes at most. When I saw that this has 8 episodes, I thought, "Yeah, finally!" The FL's friend turned out to be the best character for me. The FL did not want to use her brain, sadly. The second couple was more interesting than the first. The two main actors are some of my favorite actors in K-drama.Was this review helpful to you?
Almost dropped it
Almost dropped it over the cliché... The rich, effortlessly intelligent, socially "cold/distanced/awkward" male protagonist fells for the poor, not so smart (maybe "socially intelligent"?), clueless female protagonist... But I gave it one more chance and decided to stick with it, and it changed my mind. I'm actually starting to like it. The plot it's starting to get interesting. Let's see if, after episode 2, it can keep me hooked.Ps. I don't like to rate before I finish a drama or before I decide to quit it. Which, none is the case (so far). So, just to clarify, this rating (since obligatory for submitting an early review) aren't final.

didn’t want it to end
This was so worth every minute ! I loved how cute , sweet and thoughtful the ML was . How true the FL was to her feelings. And how it all came back to fate for them to be together ?I truly couldn’t stop smiling ☺️ as I watched this. Made my heart melt !!! From the very first episode to the last I was hooked. The only thing i will complain about and I didn’t like was the fact it was only 8 episodes, I wanted more of them together. I wanted to see how things turned out between the ML mom and his little drama forcing him to go back to the US. I truly recommend this as it’s is a must see to watch !!! And is just to good to miss.

Cliched , cute & fluffy romcom, done right
This drama's plot and story is quite common.... but this drama has all the elements in right amount. At first, the male lead Kang hoo young looks quite unsocial and aloof but he has a crush on and acts different in front of the female lead Lee hong joo. The female lead Hong joo is bubbly ,cheerful, clumsy, girl's girl type of person, who loves her best friend and helping her by any means to make her love life work with the ml. However, it was quite not fun watching Kim So Hyun playing essentially the same role in another romcom.Their coincidences plot in this drama is common (like stumbling upon her in the street or living in the same house chance)..... at first it was funny because of the initial stage of the story . But eventually everything seemed coincidence to prove that they were destined lovers witch was quite dull. I get it the name is " is it destiny" but the bicycle scene or infirmary scene is too much. And Hong joo not realizing Hoo young's feelings after ALL those things he did was frustrating !!!
Hong joo and Hye ji's scenes were a charm of this drama. The way hye ji is soo protective of hong joo and kinda tested hoo young made their friendship look real. The actor playing Hye ji acted so naturally that I couldn't know she was much older than SH.
Bang jun ho being in the drama made it fun... their past reminiscing scenes or way he looks at Hong joo gave me butterflies and tbh the reason for him leaving was quite lame. The actor really did a good job.
Other than the leads the supporting actors played their role vey well. This is a cliche , simple romcom but it was executed right. The story wasn't over dramatic other than some scenes and that was fun too. It reminded me of 'more than friends' and '20th century girl' . Overall, the drama ended really beautifully ,wasn't unnecessarily lengthy and the songs & visuals were pretty too a which made me rate this drama 8.5.

Short and sweet
This was a perfectly fine drama full of very easy to like characters who had confidence in themselves and others. Because of this, I think the strongest part of Serendipity's Embrace are the friendships and family relations, giving us a glimpse at how the people we choose are a fundamental part of how we deal with life. The friend group was particularly special and wonderful to watch, and I loved to see a healthy portrayal of women supporting each other and, also, the possibility of being friends with the opposite sex without any romantic entanglement.
Story-wise this was a very sweet and stress free romance but I do think it wasted too much time on the flashbacks to the leads' high school days to establish their "strong connection". I get it, they were meant to be even back then but I am far more interested in their relationship now as adults than days and opportunities already gone.
That said, I was a little disappointed in the use of mental health issues to excuse bad behaviour or troupes that belong in the 2000s, were we left them for good reason. All of these are embodied in one particular character that we could have done without.
So if you are looking for a short and sweet kdrama to pass the time, this is it.

a quick watch with lots of good feels, fun rom-com, and a very apt title!
I really liked this show, short and sweet! If you are looking for a feel good, cozy and nostalgic romance, this is it. It will make you reminisce your school days and your old crushes. The chemistry between the actors is amazing, no misunderstanding trope (we love a healthy communicative relationship!) I feel like the decisions that the characters made were also grounded in reality which is not very common in romcom dramas lol
Overall, its a short drama so easier to watch, good acting, good storyline though not life changing and good romance! Would 100% recommend and worth your time!
